**Mid Rim, Western Reaches, Tashtor Sector**
**Castilon System, Castilon**
**Castilon Spaceway (Orbital Venue), Race Four**

"The time is now! Varn Badaash needs to be on the track for the remainder of the tour!" a GSPN co-host exclaimed, pounding his fist atop the long, extended desk before each of the hosts with each syllable.

That comment served two purposes. First, it was objectively true. Varn Badaash was a remarkably talented racer, and currently held the record on the course being run on the last two stops on tour. Though he had struggled in the first race on tour, it was only due to pirate interference. The second reason for making a comment with such force behind it was that it was simply good for GSPN business. Varn Badaash was a crowd favorite, and the push by the co-host for Badaash to lead his team into the fourth race was met with cheers from the crowd that had gathered to watch the race on the big screens. If Varn Badaash was racing, viewership rocketed, plain and simple.

A non-Human co-host looked around, flabbergasted and asked, "Why isn't anyone talking about Sa'ato Mors? He's obviously having an MVP-type tour! Race one: second place. Race two: tied for third, only because there was a tie for first. Race three: first place finish! This is someone who was the last pick in the first round of the draft. You want to talk about value for Team Derivative? Look no further."

The rest of the GSPN panel couldn't disagree with that statement. The rest of the competitors on tour, for the most part, had turned in mixed results. Team Derivative had recently gotten their captain back from repairing their racecraft, but Zasabi Ray, captain of Team Derivative, had just announced prior to final preparations that he would be sitting out this race in order to field the best racers for the conditions. Team Derivative had a slight lead on Team Bolner in the overall standings, and the decision by Zasabi Ray to sit out was generally met with favorable responses, particularly considering Zechs Merquise's suitability for this race's conditions.

As the transports began to unload the racecraft that would be participating in the ten-lap race, the crowd on the surface of Castilon began to get rowdy. The asteroid field was no less volatile on this day, and a series of crashing asteroids caused a momentary delay in setting up at the starting gate. This would be the last race on tour with unfavorable conditions, which some teams had already publicly commented upon, giving their approval. With racers in position, the lights situated on either side of the starting gate began to flash, indicating the countdown for the race to begin...

Feedback posted every two laps (except the ninth lap) for my own sanity...

They're off! Look at Team Risen go right out of the gate! Team captain Kira Ikari and Ranah Jansen are pacing one another as they lead the pack right off of the start. They must realize that their team has fallen behind in the overall standings, and they want to make up for lost ground. Team Risen is leaving nothing on the table, as Kita Ikari maneuvers-- some might say in reckless fashion-- between two asteroids. Ranah Jansen has inverted her racer and squeezed through a tunnel in another asteroid, shooting through from one side to the other, where a more cautious racer might opt to go around entirely. It looks as if Team Bolner has taken the cautious route to start the race, and both Adar Bolner and Aliclair Austjor are bringing up the tail of the pack coming through the first of ten checkpoints. As we move on toward the second checkpoint, Ranah Jansen has outmaneuvered her teammate, though it seems now that they may have settled upon Kita Ikari drafting just behind her teammate. Crowd favorite Varn Badaash remains in the mix for second place, though he's pushing against up-and-coming star Sa'ato Mors now. It appears that Badaash's teammate, Salem Norongachi has lost a bit of time, though he's still within a fair distance to support his team captain if necessary. No issues so far, as it seems the racers have learned from the last race what to expect and how to cautiously maneuver through this asteroid field. Let's see if it holds up...

Team Risen is hanging on to their lead in this race, as Kita Ikari and Ranah Jansen are now extending their lead from the pack. They're practically flying recklessly out there, but they have not encountered any incidents. How much longer can they keep their lead? Coming into the third checkpoint now, it seems that Varn Badaash and Salem Norongachi are making a move to take the third and fourth place positions. Salem Norongachi, it seems, has directed all power to his racecraft's engines! Oh no! There was a blast of energy from the engines, but they've burned out! His racecraft has powered down! There's plenty of race to go, and it seems that Team Bolner's captain, Adar Bolner, is now competing with Sa'ato Mors, as they're more or less neck-and-neck with Salem Norongachi out of the way. As the racers are crossing the third checkpoint and are now making their way to the fourth checkpoint safely, at least for now, it appears that Team Risen has encountered their first hurdle. Ranah Jansen has had to slow down considerably to avoid collision with a series of asteroids moving through their flight path. This has allowed crowd favorite, Varn Badaash, to move up and compete for second place.

Oh my, now we're starting to see some moves! Ranah Jansen must have been feeling Varn Badaash coming up and pressuring their position, because she has just now struck an asteroid. The asteroid was about the size of a speeder, but it bounced right off the top of Ranah Jansen's racecraft. Looks like the racer is a little worse for wear, but Ranah is not settling for any slower pace as she heads in to the fifth checkpoint with Varn Badaash trailing now by a couple of minutes. Near the middle of the pack, Zechs Merquise has also struck the side of the checkpoint marker as he headed through. No real visible damage, though, and he seems to have gotten his racecraft back under control. It seems with the race now progressing toward the sixth checkpoint, Kita Ikari is pushing her racecraft to its limits, and she's extended her lead further. Team Risen's Ranah Jansen has fallen back behind Varn Badaash, who must be heartbroken to see his teammate drop out of the race with engine failure. What's happening here? Sa'ato Mors is reminding us not to forget about him, as again, he's making a push for the top three! This is incredible!

Kita Ikari is on a tear as she heads through the seventh checkpoint! Look at this remarkable pace; she could very well break Varn Badaash's course record on her first time on the Castilon Spaceway! It looks like Ranah Jansen doesn't want to be overlooked in this race, as she's still battling, but has found her way back into second place. Zechs Merquise has been a constant thorn in her side, though, and both of their racecraft have taken a bit of damage as they've rubbed against one another while jockeying for position. Just as Sa'ato Mors looked to have slithered his way back into the top three again, he found himself carefully navigating a cloud of microasteroids, which slowed his pace down to a considerable degree. As the racers move on to the eighth checkpoint now, Kita is still in the lead, though Zechs Merquise seems to have shaken off Ranah Jansen and made a move to second place! He's well within striking range of Kita now, who has led for practically the entire race. Here goes Zechs through a shower of debris caused by an asteroid collision only a few meters off of his port side. He's just barreled through it without stopping! The racers are running out of time to make their moves here. These last two laps will be must-see programming, as we're bound to see some shift at the top of this race. Can Kita Ikari and Team Risen hold on?

Zechs Merquise is right behind Kita Ikari now! She's raced almost flawlessly, but she's losing ground to the Team Derivative racer. Kita is angling around two twin asteroids that are grinding together now, and it seems that she's all but fated to lose her lead on this race to Zechs Merquise. Oh my! Oh no! This cannot be! Kita Ikari seems to have baited Zechs Merquise into a faster path around those two asteroids, and he has rounded them, only to be struck by an asteroid shooting past them. There's no way he could have seen it coming, but somehow Kita Ikari's vantage point allowed her to anticipate the asteroid approaching. She's cleared the field of all competitors that can possibly stop her now! Kita Ikari may not have been the fastest on tour, but with that maneuver, she's quickly become the most clever. Ranah Jansen has to be all too happy to slide in at second place, but she can't rest easy, as the pesky Sa'ato Mors has snuck up to make a push for the top three again. How will this race finish?

Kita Ikari is across the finish line with time to spare. What an example of how to handle a racecraft in bad conditions! She not only finished with an excellent time, she avoided all obstacles along the way. A run through the course to remember for the captain of Team Risen, though she did not set any course records today. Coming along now is the hotly contested positioning for second place. Sa'ato Mors seems to have gotten the edge on Ranah Jansen by maneuvering up over an asteroid obstacle, whereas Ranah decided to dip below it. Ranah had to skirt around another asteroid afterwards, causing her to lose a bit of time, surrendering second place to Sa'ato Mors in the process. As he comes across the finish line now, it won't be a clean sweep for Team Risen, as they cannot keep Sa'ato Mors away from the finish line! Another incredible display of tenacity by Sa'ato Mors to hang in the race, despite being in sixth place at the halfway mark. One thing is certain, there will be a shakeup in the standings after this race. Let's see what's changed...

**Mid Rim, Western Reaches, Tashtor Sector**
**Castilon System, Castilon**
**Castilon Spaceway, Race Five**

Conditions were perfect on the surface of Castilon for the final race on the inaugural tour. The fourth race had been enough to seemingly knock one team out of the hunt for first place, but an observer would never know it, judging by the crowd gathered at the edges of the Colossus refueling station. There was an electric energy coursing throughout the assembled race fans. All agreed that the competition committee was right to hold the final race close to the Colossus and in front the crowd that had so enthusiastically assembled to witness the champions being crowned.

As always, the GSPN crew was situated atop their perch on the control tower, near the captain's offices. What more could be said at this point that hadn't already been overanalyzed? It was obvious, even to the casual observer, how miraculous Kita Ikari and Ranah Jansen's performance had been. Big time racers show up in big time races, it was said. If anything, win or lose, for racers like Kita Ikari and Ranah Jansen, they had gained a loyal following as a result of the fourth race. It was even said on certain HoloNet discussion groups that they had converted some of the most dedicated supporters from the Varn Badaash fanbase.

Though his team currently languished in third place, Sa'ato Mors was turning the racing world on its head. The great racers of bygone eras recognized his talent. The stylish way Mors boldly navigated not one, but two asteroid fields attracted new fans to the racing scene. Sentients from across the galaxy wanted to see Mors, who was continuing to make a push for the most valuable racer on tour.

As the garages around the Colossus opened and the racecraft began to filter out, the crowd assembled at the edges of the refueling station began to roar. The final race on tour was about to begin!

And here we go! Final race! Ranah Jansen looks to be edging out her teammate and captain, Kita Ikari, from the starting line. If Team Risen continues their late success, they will be untouchable at the top of the standings. It looks like Aliclair Austjor is fighting with Kita Ikari for positioning, they're neck and neck right now. Following closely behind them is Ben Kenobi, Varn Badaash, Darth Fett, and Zasabi Ray. Sa'ato Mors is surprisingly in the back of the pack, but if we've learned one thing from him it's that you cannot count him out. Coming into the first checkpoint now, all racers seem to have passed through cleanly. It appears that Ben Kenobi doesn't like his positioning and he's engaged his afterburners. He's certainly going to have less control of his racecraft, but look at that speed! Kita Ikari has fallen behind now, and it seems that Team Derivative captain, Zasabi Ray, has jumped ahead of her and is now attempting to edge out Ranah Jansen for the lead. Ladies and gentlemen, we have contact! Zasabi Ray and Ranah are physically grinding it out as they come into the checkpoint. Wow! Ranah Jansen achieved some timely leverage against Zasabi Ray's racer and as a result, his racecraft collided with the checkpoint marker. Zasabi's racecraft looks a bit worse for wear, but let's see how he handles it going forward. Kita Ikari has fallen into a bit of a scrap with Aliclair Austjor, Varn Badaash, and Darth Fett for positioning now. Sa'ato Mors is still trailing now, as the race progresses to the third checkpoint.

Team Derivative's captain, Zasabi Ray, must be feeling some pressure with his team in third place in the overall standings. Look at him fly! He's still battling it out with Ranah Jansen as they proceed forward to the third checkpoint ring. Could this be a rivalry forming? This is bold flying from Zasabi Ray, as his racecraft is damaged, and he's still steering his racer into Jansen's path. Here they come now into the checkpoint marker and... Oh my! They both tried to squeeze through and Zasabi Ray took the worse of it. Ranah Jansen's racecraft took a scrape, but Zasabi Ray is now off the course, gliding down into the ocean below. Ben Kenobi has disengaged his afterburners, but here he comes now into the checkpoint ring... what carnage! This checkpoint marker has three scrapes on it now from all the damage that it has taken. You can clearly see the colors from each of the racers' craft now decorating the checkpoint marker. Unbelievable! Here comes Sa'ato Mors now, who is trying desperately to make a move before he's left behind. He paints the checkpoint ring too, but he's positioned himself right in the mix if he can keep his pace through the next checkpoint! Coming into the fourth checkpoint now, Ranah Jansen is still in the lead, and Ben Kenobi certainly must be feeling better about his positioning at a close second place. Sa'ato Mors has jumped from last place to third place, and listen to that crowd react!

If Kita Ikari's flying in the fourth race was superb, we're all at a loss for words for how to describe the race that Ranah Jansen is having! She's lead the entire way through the race. Here she comes now through the fifth checkpoint cleanly. Ben Kenobi is on her tail, with the rest of the pack far in the distance. Here comes Ben now... Oh! He's lost control after clipping the fifth checkpoint ring, and down he goes into the ocean. What a shame for Team Bolner, but they had to know that this was a possibility on a course like this. It was a high risk, high reward decision to race Ben Kenobi, but Team Bolner had to have been looking at their spot in the overall standings and decided the gamble was worthwhile. Coming into the sixth checkpoint now, with our field down two racers, it's Ranah Jansen still in the lead and Sa'ato Mors closer to the pack than to Ranah. Darth Fett has had a silently steady race thus far, and Sa'ato seems to have sensed the Team Badaash racer coming up behind him. Ranah has clipped the checkpoint ring as she passed through, and it seems that Sa'ato has done the same! Their racecraft can't take much more punishment. Let's see if they slow down coming into the last few checkpoints...

The next checkpoint will be the seventh now, and, unsurprisingly, Ranah Jansen is still in the lead by a healthy margin. Sa'ato Mors finds himself embedded in second place, but Darth Fett is still nipping on his heels. Aliclair Austjor and Kita Ikari seem to be fighting for scraps now, as far as positioning is concerned. The Team Risen captain seems to have gotten the better of the first round draft selection for now. As the racers pass through the checkpoint ring mercifully unharmed, it's still Ranah Jansen up front, with Darth Fett now edging out the rising star, Sa'ato Mors. It seems that there has been a reversal of fortune in the fight between Aliclair Austjor and Kita Ikari, with Austjor now leading. What a fall for grace for the former champion racer, Varn Badaash, as he brings up the rear.

The race now moves on to the ninth checkpoint and, of course, Ranah Jansen shows no signs of stopping. She is on pace to dethrone Varn Badaash from his last remaining track record, but you have to worry about the damage her racecraft has taken. It is truly a wonder that she can still hold it together with the damage that it has endured in this vicious final race. Sa'ato Mors seems too far out from Ranah Jansen to catch up now, but he can't be focusing on Ranah with Dark Fett still challenging him. Kita Ikari and Aliclair Austjor seem to be focused only on one another, as they yet again trade leads over one another, this time with the Team Risen captain in front. As they're coming into the last checkpoint ring now... Oh my! How is this possible? How can Ranah Jansen still be flying this racecraft after yet another collision? The racecraft seems to be speaking to Ranah, promising to give her its last jolt of power, if only she can steer it through the finish line unscathed. Coming through the marker now is Sa'ato Mors, and yet again, he and Ranah seem to share their poor luck! Three times now Ranah has collided with the checkpoint ring, and three times Sa'ato Mors has followed suit! How curious, and yet the racers continue on, pushing their machines to their absolute limits. What a race to the finish this will be, as Ranah Jansen seems to have the race in hand, but it could all fall on Sa'ato Mors if Jansen can't push her racecraft to the finish line!

Coming into the finish line now, Ranah Jansen has delivered what must be the championship for Team Risen! What a turn of fate for the team that was three minutes out of last place after the third of five races! An unbelievable team performance to pull together and rally one another to the top of the podium. Now, as Sa'ato Mors pulls in through the finish line, let us take a moment to shift the spotlight from the team to the individual. While one racer could not take his team to the top of the standings, Sa'ato Mors' achievements of a first place finish, a whopping three second place finishes, and a third place finish are arguably the most impressive on tour. Also of note, he was the only racer on tour who participated in every event. What an incredible start to his career, and, while Mors' quest for the championship has eluded him this time, he will no doubt be a favorite for a top three finish in any race going forward. Now for the final standings...
