Break the Ice

Post by Mike Harvest » Tue Aug 06, 2019 1:08 pm

Mike was definetelly bored.
It has been half a year, since he joined the Empire's army, since he became a solider for peace and justice. Or, simply put, since he was placed to sit in one place, do some paperwork, and if he was lucky, have a training flight with his TIE Fighter.
It was boring, but at least he was placed inside the base on Rhen Var, not outside. Those poor people actually had to have patrols out in this snow, sometimes lasting all nights. And Harvest hated snow, since he was born on Tatooine and got used to warmth and sand under his feet.
He layed on his desk, hoping some scared, useless solider will die on the battlefront, and he will finally do something important for his beloved Empire.

For all intents and purposes, life on Mining Asteroid 445-JS9 was supposed to quiet. Situated on the far end of the Thanium Sector, its proximity to Rhen Var made it an ideal, but perhaps undervalued listening station. That held untrue, until about three weeks prior, when local agents discovered a series of Hutt associates frequenting the main spaceport. Further analysis revealed the identity of the interlopers as the self-same Gank gun-runners that had been plaguing the Perlemian Border for several cycles. Needless to say, the Navy wasted no time in mobilizing a punitive response. So it was that Captain Doren Vassyl found himself sprinting down cramped, low-end corridors once more: a steady stream of laser fire right on his heels.

According to intelligence reports, the tenacious mercenary collective known only as the Red Talon had recently experienced a rather violent changing of the guard. Yet, rather than slow the Gank down, the infighting had actually inspired an even bolder string of thefts and capital crimes, as the rival clans sought to acquire a lethal edge over their competitors. One nearly-lucky bolt struck lamppost mere inches from Vassyl's face, causing the Jaeman officer to wince and draw his thoughts back to the situation at hand. Hanging a sharp left, Doren cursed his ill fortune under his breath. One thing the reports had failed to mention was the volume of trained killers drifted about the outpost. The Captain had been cut off from his guard unit all too quickly, and now his one recourse was to regroup at the main intel hub.

Around the time one rather bored solider was bemoaning desk duty, several bolts of hot plasma seared through the office's front viewport, which shattered immediately on impact. Amidst the burning spray of transparasteel shards, a human male of average height vaulted through the new opening- only to slide across the floor and smack unceremoniously against the far back wall. Of all the days for the cleaning crews to polish the floor, it just had to be today. Looking about for his primary sidearm, Doren's gaze alighted on an army trooper stooped over his station. With another salvo sputtering through the now-vacant wall space, Vassyl inclined his head towards the fallen weapon, signaling for his associate to take it up and join the battle. Outgunned as he was, the Captain needed all the help he could get. There would be no retreat. The enemy had delivered their ultimatum: it was time for the Empire to respond in turn.

OOC: Apologies for the delay, I was out on holiday!

"Sir, should we intervene?"

A nimbus squad member contacted Prazutis through his wrist comm as his shuttle approached a shielded hangar.

"Mining site 445-JS9. Communications with those within have been jammed, sir." The pilot droid said as it sat the shuttle down, Prazutis noticing a few unmarked ships mixed in with the usual TIE fighters. It seemed that he had missed the action...

"Not necessary. I can take care of this." Prazutis replied to the comm before stepping down the cargo ramp, putting out his robotic hand and letting his lightsaber hilt quickly rise to meet his palm.

Prazutis had done a bit of research on the situation in the area after Governor Vassyl had made a comment about it during one of Prazutis' reports on his state. Ever since making contact with Darth Nihilus and becoming what he could only describe as incorporeal, but possessing his own armor, Prazutis had kept in close contact with Governor Vassyl to ensure that he had not been consumed by the unlocked power he now possessed. And ever since becoming High Inquisitor, such communication also ensured he was conducting himself as a High Inquisitor should: Refined, civilized, but when needed, skilled and ruthless in combat.

But after finding a pattern in the thefts and crimes commited by the Red Talon had led Prazutis to this station near Rhen Var, only his assumption had obviously come a moment too late.

Prazutis followed the sounds of blaster fire, checking his comms once more. No more contact with Nimbus, he thought to himself... perhaps he could at least get a signal out to any imperial ranks int he immediate area?

"This is Prazutis, Are there any remaining Imperial forces still on the comms? Repeat, any forces still on the comms?"
