The human's eyebrows knitted slightly as confliction met her head. If Master Kenobi had an apprentice already, why take on another? And where was this second apprentice? He seemed so... free-willed. Happy. She hoped to have his future. Well; she would. This was the Master she needed to excel and by the Galaxy, she would be. She offered her Master a small but genuine smile as he spoke to him. Whatever his reason may be for rescuing her, she was all game and ready to prove it to the Council snobs she had what it took to be their protector. Granted, this time was not their fault. But still; she had a small bitterness toward them.

Aliclair followed behind Master Kenobi, looking around the traveler's ship. It was very nice and its build-up even more so. She remembered tinkering about rides such as this one with her father; he was a ship mechanic. Many doors... but they stopped at one and it opened into a personal chamber. A sense of... belongness enveloped her. She'd never had her own space, her own anything other than her holo letters from her father and the hilt. Although it was just a room, it was hers. "Thank you, Master." she said, holding back from her voice cracking. She silently took a deep inhale then exhaled to release all her overwhelming feelings.

Continuing inside the ship, there was an old lookin' chest presented. She raised an eyebrow.

A cloak. Why the hell did she need a cloak? She thought that's what clothes were for but she didn't question it. Once she took the cloak, he dug back into the box and as he did, Aliclair threw the cloak over her back and tied it against the clothes she currently had. Gripping the sides, she gave it a side swish to see how it looked on her. And she couldn't lie; it was starting to grow on her. But, it didn't match her clothes. She'd need to make some that fit it. Her Master spoke once more and she gave him her attention, taking the communicator and attaching it to her belt. She allowed a small hum to escape her throat; nothing but pure blissed joy surrounded her. Then, the final piece; a weapon. She took the combat staff with much curiosity. "I thought Padawans had to craft their weapons?" She asked as she took a few steps back and twirled the staff using one hand then gripped/took a flag-posing stance with the butt of the staff on the ground.

Setting the crate back together Ben nodded to his Padawan, “Yes they do.” His affirmation was simple enough but he added. “This is just something to help you along the way. When it comes time to create your lightsaber then yes, you’ll craft your own weapon, until then however you’ll use whatever is available to you until you’ve earned the right to take the next step. That said, if you feel the notion to use a blaster,” he paused and flashed a knowing smile, “that is okay with me.”

He sat down on the crate behind him and leaned his own staff against his leg then he motioned for her to relax herself. They would be spending pretty much a lifetime together and their situation had been thrust upon them so swiftly it could have made anyone’s head spin. He owed her a few things here and one of them was an explanation as to why he’d helped her back there. “Back there in the Council Chambers I had no knowledge of your past situation. I didn’t even know about this being the selection day for the Novices. The Force, as you know, works in ways that we do not understand and its timing is its own. We as Jedi have a responsibility to listen to its guidance.” He took a moment and let his words sink in.

“When I arrived it was as the Force had led me into those Chambers. I saw you and I sensed there was more to you than what was on the surface.” He stood up and walked to her and looked her in the eyes with all seriousness, “You have a great future ahead of you Aliclair, I can feel it. Don’t ever let anyone take that from you and never doubt yourself.”

He smiled and returned to his box, “I took you as my Apprentice back there because what I sensed in you in that very moment was a determination that was larger than the opposing emotions within you. In time you will overcome them, of that I have no doubt. If I can help you to reach out and find that strength then I’ll do just that.”

“Anyways, tell me about yourself Aliclair, we’ve got a long time ahead of us together. May as well learn something about one another.”

((this is gonna be a v short and gross post x-x))

Aliclair played with her staff for a tad longer before sheathing it alongside her hilt. She figured her new life would have challenges. She looked around to see if there was anything she could sit on and settled on two crates to kick up her feet. A great future? That's all she's ever wanted. But, if she was being honest, hope was deteriorating by the day. Until her Master came and saved her from a life of being a Merc. She listened, and comprehended. So, she basically had to trust in the Force at all times... no matter how dark the situation. She made the mental note before his final question came to play. "About me..? Hm.

"There's not much, honestly. I left home at a very young age... I wanted to follow in my mother's footsteps. My father would say how she was a powerful Jedi. He never spoke her name... Just her feats." She said, looking at her hands as she fiddled with nails.

There was so much unpacked mystery in her response that Ben fell silent with wonder. Her mother had been a powerful Jedi Knight.. judging by Aliclair’s age of only somewhere around mid to late teens that meant her mother hadn’t been part of the original Jedi Purge back during the Clone Wars era and that meant in turn that her had to of been part of the New Jedi Order… of which Ben just so happened to be very intimate with as he was among the founding members so long ago; indeed Ben had been of the very first generation of new Padawans trained by legendary Jedi Master Corran Horn after the Battle of Endor.

He rubbed his chin for a moment in deep thought as he looked back through his memory upon the faces of fellow students back in those times and no woman appeared to his recollection among his class of Padawans. There was Tac Celchu who had later left the Order to become a Shadow Jedi and then later a Blue Star Pirate. There was Aries Kiborn, Ben’s long time brother through the Force and good friend who had fallen to the Darkside of the Force and Ben had helped him come back to the Light through nothing less than an arduous challenge that nearly cost Ben his own life and more. Aries was now secluded and gone from the Jedi, leaving his past long behind him. Not even Ben knew if Aries was well or even still alive. Then there was Obi Wan Skywalker, slain by the Sith. And Anakin Solo who had later become Ben’s first Padawan. Ben hadn’t taken Anakin’s disappearance well.

But there was no woman that he could recall… wait… Ben searched his memories. There had been some in the later generations and he could see their faces but no names that he could recognize. He was not surprised, it had been twenty-five years ago since he had seen them. Nowadays the Jedi Coalition was not humongous and its numbers were still precious few, but the Jedi were cast all throughout Alliance Space and to know them all now was a literal impossibility.

Though he was unable to shake the feeling that he did know Aliclair’s mother. He just simply could not place it. For now he would keep his suspicions to himself. He would not give voice to a baseless hunch and bring her hopes up only to let them plummet again. However, that did not mean he would let the matter rest.

“If you do not mind, Aliclair. I am curious. What world are you originally from? Where is your father now?” As he sat there listening to her explanations he produced a small comm-link much like the one he had given her a moment ago. Keying it he spoke aloud into it. “R6, fire up the ‘Talon’s’ engines. We’ll be departing shortly.”

Within a few minutes the ship they were sitting within began to give off a gentle vibration as the powerful engines went through their start up process and soon after the engines could be heard spooling up in preparation for launch. Ben got up to his feet and gave her a smile, “Come on, let’s head to the cockpit.”

He took her through the corridors to the not too spacious though not cramped cockpit where he offered her a seat in the co-pilot’s chair. He took his own in the pilot seat. “Ever flown before?” He asked casually. He calmly then started pointing out the various gauges and controls for his ship. Of course at first it would be a daunting thing to look at for a rookie pilot but he was confident she would manage. “Grab the controls.” He instructed. Ben too would have his hands on the pilot’s controls but he was giving Aliclair their reigns here. He would not interfere other than keeping the ship from crashing.

A YT 2000 was not a starfighter and had a lot of weight to it. She would not be the easiest vessel to fly right out of the gate but she handled like a dream once you got the hang of it. “Now reach for the throttle and give her a few percentages. Engage the repulsor lift coils; those will get us up off the ground. Then nice and easy adjust the throttle to produce forward momentum while cutting the repulsors. Keep your hand on the stick steady and gently ease us up above the canopy of the trees.”
