Digging on Tatooine (GA/Jedi + BSP)

Post by Ranah Jansen » Wed Jul 21, 2021 7:25 pm

Tatooine

Strings had been pulled, to get Ranah to accept this mission on behalf of the GA, her first since joining the Jedi. One that would benefit both the Galactic Alliance and the Jedi Coalition. The Details had been kept under tight wraps for fear of information getting out which was why the GA insisted it be the Jedi, and if all went well this would strictly be a recon mission. Ranah had been briefed by the Jedi Council as well as GA Special Forces, they had handpicked the team. Ranah was pleased to find that her friend Aliclair was also chosen. The two of them had become friends and Ali was a good counter-balance to Ranah.

The rationale had been sending Jedi Knights would draw too much attention even arouse suspicions, but Apprentices could get where Knights might not. They were not as known and their cover story could be easy to maintain and even believable. In her case she was a expelled Padawan, it was believable as Ranah tended to be headstrong and some would even say vicious. A failed Jedi would fit perfectly here.

Ranah had stood in front of the mirror of her refresher. She almost did not recognize her own face in the mirror as she had put on blue contacts and had dyed her red hair blonde. She even went as far as cutting her hair not short enough to feel weird but enough to alter her appearance. She even adapted a new identity as well and had all the needed documentation to support it. She looked in the mirror and repeated the new identity

Jaysella Felkon

She repeated the name in the mirror a few more times. The whole concept of posing as someone else was foreign to her, this was her first mission on her own so to speak under the Jedi. She had command experience in the GA so it was not much of a stretch.

=Present Day=

Ranah as Jaysella stepped off the transport on to the Tatooine sand, it was dry, hot not humid. For that she was grateful. She took a couple steps away from the transport. Not a cloud in the sky the twin suns blazing in all their glory. She was not a fan of desert worlds but she had been on them before, she had run missions before. It was nothing new for her.

The team had all traveled separately , Ranah had taken a pubic transport, but the team all agreed to meet at one of the cantinas in the settlement of Anchorhead. She had been armed with her heavy blaster pistol and her T-21 which was in one of her suitcases disassembled, just in case she needed it. She hoped it would not come to that but she had to be ready, her training lightsaber back on Kashyyyk. She could not risk blowing her cover. Any semblance of her life was far from her. She was now in Mos Espa it would be a short transport to Anchorhead. She carried the case and her backpack as she took a seat on the transport, and shortly thereafter it began for its destination of anchorhead.

To have taken separate transports is something only a soldier could've constructed. But, it was smart. Arriving together could've aroused suspicion.

Aliclair stood within her YT-2000 Talon dawning on desert attire, with a scarf over her head, mouth and nose and goggles to protect her eyes. She tossed a satchel over her shoulders and collapsed her vibrolance so it sheathed on her leg before heading to the exit. As the latch opened so she could hop out, she instructed her crew to be on standby incase anything happened and needed immediate extraction. Jumping down onto the sandy earth, she watched as her transport departed then looked around. Ali decided it was best to land where there wasn't life; ships drew out the worst on planets. Giving her neck a quick crack and her satchel an adjustment, she began walking toward Anchorhead, which was due east from where she stood. Heat didn't phase the she-padawan; she'd grown in a humid and hot jungle planet so this was a walk in the park.

"Listen, you Hutt licker, I don't pay cheaters! You know as well as anyone that you can't move a Kintan Strider that many spaces without slicing the terminal. That win is null and void!"

The goat-faced sentient opposite the Dejarik table growled at Zasabi before rumbling a response.

"I don't care who you know," the Theelin replied. His green hair had been pulled back into a tight knot and threaded with a spectacular array of colors. Adding to the display was a dark spoked tattoo across the left side of his face centered on his eye. Add in the dark red body armor that he wore over his duster, the full helmet sitting nearby, and the blaster paired with a sword on his left hip, and it was obvious to most that he was clearly some swoop gang thug spending his winnings.

Zasabi had done absolutely nothing to dissuade anyone of this notion. For his cover to hold up, it was absolutely necessary that he drink, be rowdy, and gamble aggressively.

That was the story he would tell Alliance spec-ops, anyways, when they debriefed him.

It wasn't much of a story, anyways- the Alliance had asked him to act as a fixer for some rising stars that were showing up soon. He didn't know the specifics of the situation for the sake of operational security, so he had spent the last week or so gathering as much information as he could between barfights and racing the local farm boys. All in all, he wasn't impressed with Anchorhead, and thankfully they weren't too impressed with him either. Sure, the first two days they found him novel enough, but by now they had grown to view him with the same passive indifference most outsiders to the station got.

While he had enjoyed himself well enough, he didn't look forward to being at the beck and call of some GA spy. Still, it would make them forget the Roche Debacle, so that was good enough for him.

Standing up from the Dejarik table, Zasabi gave the gotal a glare and tapped the pommel of his sword, as if daring the goat man to make an issue of Zas walking out on his marker. As he expected, the gotal relented and moved to another table.

Glaring at the rest of the patrons at the bar with a similar barely-contained fury, Zasabi walked up to the bar, silently paid the bartender for more of the same drink he had ordered since arriving a week ago, and menaced his way toward a table in the back. Hopefully his display would give him and the folks he'd been scheduled to meet some privacy.

Marlith landed on the hot destered sands. She patted the ship's dash before hopping out. She need to buy some fuel and blaster gas. The heat and suns didn't affect her to much. She lived on this planet. She grabbed some credits and headed into the close by town. Her pale arms soaking in the sun. She thought about getting a new jumpsuit but she died against it she liked the look. She was thirsty so she walked into the bat and sat at the counter and ordered some plain water. She didn't really drink much.

It was a long dull arduous trip to Anchorhead, full of sand, sand and more sand along with the occasional dune or canyon along the way. Ranah stepped off the transport in Anchorhead, she had grabbed her bags and made her first stop the GA safe house. It’s front was a shop, the owners were expecting her and showed her to her room which like most places with hidden space was underground, she did not mind she was able to deposit her gear, freshen up, and she took one last look at the dossier of her team. She kept her pistol sheathed, taking her spare rifle it was smaller, and lighter but not as heavy firing power as the T-21. She hoisted the Trooper Rifle it was an A280K model, she put on her duster over it. She was ready. Most desert dwellers carried everywhere they went. Ranah as Jaysella would fit in perfectly. When she felt she was ready she left the safe house and made her way to the local cantina. This was the pre-arranged meeting point for the team to discreetly meet. They had all been given a password to help identify each other. Hers was Blackstar. It had been her call sign, her squadron’s name.

She stepped through the doors to the local cantina. It was sparsely populated with a few beings of mixed species some drinking, some playing Sabbac or Paazac and in the corner was a Dejarik table. She felt a mental nudge when she looked at the Dejarik table. She had come to recognize those nudges as her Force senses guiding her. She did not quite understand it yet but she had learned to trust them. If anyone noticed her they would see a tall shoulder length blonde human woman with an athletic build and blue eyes walking towards the table. She did stop along the way at the bar and ordered a drink for herself and for the aggressive slightly loud person at the Dejarik table. The Bartender would just give Zasabi another of whatever he was drinking. While Jaysella herself had glass of Mandalorian Whiskey or whatever swill passed for it. She took a seat close by but not to close to be infringing on the game. She did not see anyone else not Ali or the newcomer. She nursed her drink as she started to get entertained with the happenings at the Dejarik Table.

She took this time to scan her surroundings, this was her chance, she had been placed in command of this mission, being the only one of the trio to have the most combat experience as well as military experience, she knew how to run an Op. They had to be delicate and as discreet as possible. When she had a good visual layout of the establishment and a mental record of those who were here she turned her attention back to her drink.

fMarlith was looking over lists of what she needed. The papers she held were stained with oil and grease. She had a few grease smudges on her face. But for the the most part she looked on the dull side. She pulled out a few of the diagrams she drew of her a with all jolted down notes. She kept her head down minding her own business. She feel the need to but into others talks.

"More water please."

She was thirsty she didn't miss the hot sands of tattooine. She siped on her water while doing her own thing. She was in her own little world completely focesed to the upkeep and repairs.

The walk from her drop off location and the Catalina within Anchorhead wasn’t a long, or short trip. It was a decent distance as to not draw attention; and that was perfectly fine with her. More sandy terrain with the occasional winds to ensure she was going in the right direction. Her foot connected with something solid in the sand, and it was enough to make her look down. Ali kneeled and pulled out what seemed to be a military tactical mask for desert treading. The logo was scratched out, and the design modified. Thoughts of others mistaking her for whoever owned this mask before began to circle her head, so pulling out a piece of writing charcoal, she wrote on the side, ‘The Moth’, along with some decorative symbols and markings, removing her goggles and scarf to loop on this new mask. Cleaning the inside of course, before putting it on. Looking out the new visors, she could tell it was infused with technology, but it was long done with resting in the sand for so long. But, the vented system worked fine and that was enough for her. She took a moment to take a nice drink of her cool water before pressing forward, slipping the large scarf over her head to act as a hoodie.

In about, 20 minutes, Ali stepped boot into the establishment of where she was supposed to meet Ranah. Checking her handheld, she read its contents before pocketing it within her thigh pouch. Raising her eyebrow from behind her newly acquired mask, she made her way into the Catalina, looking around then seating at a table and propping her legs up / crossing them, taking a moment to recuperate from walking in the heat. The mask helped with keeping the heat out her face area; it’ll be a project, to fix the mask to its full glory but for now, the vented piece is all she needed.

A violin sting like a needle of ice slid down Zasabi's spine as she walked in. The moment she reached out with the Force, he withdrew into himself, clamping down on his Force presence fiercely before he could stop himself. He was glad to have removed himself to the corner booth out of easy view, because the look of sheer panic on his face would not have suited his cover at all.

He had spent a good while on the run from Sith hunters after a failed attempt him and some others to free the queen of Roche from Sith control. It had led to him mastering a certain level of caution that bordered on the traumatic, as he had nearly died more times in the last year than in the rest of his life. Considering the kind of life he had lived, this was no small feat.

He took a deep breath, settling himself. It had to be a Jedi. Of course the GA would send him a Jedi to guide. As if his life wasn't difficult enough already. He had a mixed history with the Jedi, having faced off more than once with their more aggressive adherents in the past, but that all seemed to be old news by now.

I'll believe it when I see it, he groused internally.

Well, there was no time like the present, and his near panic attack had given him a strong idea of who his contact was. He briefly reminded himself of the various passwords he needed to recall before rising to his feet. Gone was the scarred Shadow, returned was the cocky swoop ganger.

"Hoy there, Angel," he offered jauntily as he approached Ranah. Everyone on the mission had a password that made it clear to the others their role in the operation. His was 'Angel', a callsign harkening back to the last time he had assisted a rebel fighter squadron in his early teens. A lifetime ago, really.

"Ain't seen you here before. What brings a rose like you to a desert like this?"

The pickup lines were barely deserving of being called such, but he hoped the eye contact he gave her made it clear he wasn't just a local scumbag.

"Why don't I buy you a drink?"

Ranah did not have to turn to know that Aliclair had entered the cantina, they were friends and her presence was familiar to the now blonde woman sitting at the table. She might not recognize Ranah with the change of appearance but she would recognize her presence as well. She was about to rise to approach her when someone else caught her attention as he approached. She turned her head in his direction and gave him a smile.

Inwardly she was not worried. He had said his password “Angel” so she would not treat him as she would have any other random male trying to get their meathooks on her. He was their contact. She could feel that in her core plus the Force was silent which spoke volumes to the Soldier.

”Hey” she said pleasantly giving him a polite smile. “Have a seat” she told him using that pleasant tone. When he did it was time for her to respond with her passcode.

You flatter me” she said at being called Rose. He was a charmer she would give him that. What indeed did bring her here. It was not a hard question.

She looked him straight in the eye “Oh I’m here looking for Blackstar” that was her passcode, Blackstar had been her old squadron’s name, and her new code name when she embarked on her last mission that saw her entry into the Jedi Coalition. And then almost as an afterthought she grinned

I’d love a drink, I’ll take a Corellian Whiskey

She scanned the room again then looking at the cocky swooper she added “I’m Jaysella” she kept her adopted name for appearances sake but the moment she uttered Blackstar she knew that Zasabi knew she was Ranah Jansen, Padawan to Jarak Kai and former GA Special Forces. After a moment or two of small talk she had asked the big question.

So , did you find anything fun to do on this sandball?” she was looking for information or leads, anything that would help but to those trying to listen in it would sound like small talk. She knew Aliclair was close but the other member the pilot had not been seen or identified. Ranah would trust in the Force as they would soon have to be delicate on what they did next.

Marlith look at her notes and then sketches. Before paying and going to her ship. She laid her back on the hot sand and used her feet to push her body deeper under her small ship.

"Ok old girl I think I found the problem."

She opened up a portion of a bottom hatch and looked at the wires. She had completely forget about the other things she needed to get. To her the up keep of her ship was more important. She muttered to herself about wires and different ship parts as she worked. The only part of her poking out was her shins and below.
