Assassins, Blood of the Unsung…

Repeater rounds pelted the scene alongside pronounces bursts of energy dispensed from the scout sidearm, scarlet red death spat angrily at the target, the alleyway flashed with an aura not its own and the poor lighting killed any chance at obtaining one’s true sight. Her screams of disappointment fed the Darkness around them, emotion, the fuel of the Red Cauldron; the cup of the damned, forged by the Dark One that his subjects could feed. Whether he knew it or not, it gave him subtle strength, indeed her own anger was his own.

Even so, outrunning an Imperial issued E-web Heavy Repeater was next to impossible. Its rapid fire capabilities were not to be outclassed and it held a significant accuracy when attached to a bipod, perhaps his only saving grace at this time was that she was firing from the hip. Raphael leapt aside, he felt the burns on half a dozen places, even his robes were torn and tapered by the repeater rounds, smoldering from the close shots and stinging his skin. It told him that he’d better move a little faster or soon he wouldn’t be moving at all.

He tucked his shoulder and rolled across the dampened ground, coming up to his right knee in a smart crouch, his blades shimmered in the red pulsing light. They were held down and away, not hiding his intent but keeping his angle of approach safeguarded. This fight was too close quarters with weapons far too powerful, it wouldn’t last long and it was going to be nasty.

Silence’s fire swiveled to track the fleetfooted Sith Initiate, swift on his tail and fully intent on riddling the body with hellfire. She never did take rejection very well…

Raphael was ahead of her tracking pace, to stay alive he needed to keep it that way. He sprinted forward, day old rain water spattering hard as he dashed towards the wall, pounding red bolts surged in. With momentum on his side his feet danced up the straight wall, impacts of detonations close behind him. He shot easily seven feet into the air and his speed only waivered a shred though as it did he wasn’t fool enough to continue on his present course. Reaching out swiftly his vibroblade struck through the neck of a light fixture whilst his other arm extended and caught the railing of the fire escape. His body lurched aside towards the railing with all momentum doused. The light fell down into the path of the E-web and a blast of sparks illuminated the scene.

For only a moment she flinched as shards of heated glass peppered the area, some came close and caressed her skin, the unexpected had caught her off guard and now her eyes darted to seek her prey. Though it was not near.

It was clear he couldn’t take her on like this; he couldn’t get close enough and one slip meant he was fodder for the carrion. With swift silent movement Raphael danced across the gantries and rusted walkways above the alleyway. He balanced speed with the quiet, only delivering up enough noise for Silence to track and stay interested but not enough to target and gun him down. A sure tactic… if he’d been facing anyone but a madwoman…

She bellowed laughter that carried an echo of the E-web she bore. Red energy flew into the air. It scoured the walls, burst more light fixtures into oblivion, melted rusty steps into charred slag… no… there was nowhere to hide. Her sporadic fire devastated any structurally sound material and the hardened grates began to descend on the screeching cries of twisting metal. Raphael lost his balance more than once, railing pipes broke from their welds and sprung about like projectiles, holes in the floor grates opened up threatening to snag his boot and steal him away to the twisting grave below that promised him a slow agonizing death.

Enough! This couldn’t continue! If she didn’t execute his companion then he’d be crushed by the devastation. With the data very likely long gone, his goal had become survival. So far it wasn’t working out that well…

He leapt from the high places and descended towards his attacker. As he flew and pierced the light she found her target and swung the heavy barreled weapon about. Though she was not the only one with a projectile weapon this night. A trio of lithe razored discs leapt from his forearm, from the angle and additional speed of his descent, Silence had extremely little time to react. She lifted her E-web high and two of the discs embedded themselves into the weapon’s receiver, severing the power to the portable charge pack and rendering it little more than a hunk of broiling hot steel. The third however shot inward and the plastoid carapace didn’t stand a chance against this weaponry. It passed through the armor like hot butter and cut its way out the other side of her lower ribcage. The disc glanced off bone and ripped meat apart easily though due to the thin nature and speed, despite passing through her body, it failed to do the intended damage of internal organ damage. All in all it was but a very deep bleeding wound, nothing more.

The shock of the piercing disc forced her to stagger, dropping her E-web and spinning away in the process just as Raphael landed surprisingly gracefully with his twin blades flashing. He missed, but now the momentum of the fight belonged to him. He made in for the kill, surging forward with a lunge just as she finished her evasive spin to come face to face with him again. She shifted her waist aside and trapped his lunging forearm to her side. He lashed wide though her free forearm redirected the strike and then she lunged forward with a strong headbutt that kissed his bottom lip. The pressure of soft tissue against his teeth split the skin all the way through, blood shot in his mouth making his vision blur yet it didn’t leave him incapacitated to the fight and he kicked inward to cross her legs, Silence was snagged and she tumbled away which freed Raphael’s trapped blade, he slashed horizontally with intent to disembowel though her descent had been a hair too fast and it only left a faint line cut across her armor.

She hit the ground hard and rolled away, coming back up with her scout pistol, it barked twice; first missing and second catching his left bicep. He dropped his left blade and recoiled from the pistol though the fateful clink of the weapon told them both that its smaller charge pack had run dry.

They were both back on their feet, her right hand gripped tightly around her own blade with the claws of her hand poised in the other, though she was now favoring her right side as blood freely ran from the wound in her side. Her face was getting pale, pain was vivid across her features and the sweat was a clear sign of early fatigue.

He faired little better, his left arm cradled to his stomach for protection, blood drenching his chin and neck, holes and burns across his body… this was out of hand…

Both combatants advanced in a flurry, Raphael was first in initiative; his slashes and thrusts were executed with extreme precision, Silence dipped and dodged away, then she made to the offensive. An open hand slashed at the Sith's face, he deftly leaned back, ducked beneath her following slash and came up with a stab directed at her midsection. Her open hand shot down and slapped his stab aside then she twisted at the hip and flew into a cartwheel with feet extended, Raphael didn't have a moment to evade and he took both kicks, one after the other, right in the side of the face.

In his daze he staggered backwards, Silence lunged, her claws sank into his neck. Fortunate for him the nails weren't unnaturally long and it was more dramatic affect than anything. Despite this she frowned, a pouty frown that she'd missed the jugular. With her dagger she swept around and used the haft to ram it into the side of Raphael's face. The force of the strike in his dazed state was the last nail in the coffin and he spun from his feet, vibroblades tossed aside.

Raphael landed poorly in a heap... unconscious...

She bathed in blood. It flowed from her, and covered her, covered them both in a mixture of their both. She gasped for breath as she stared down at her prey, knife in her hand, she took a steps toward his downed form, wincing as she felt a tug in her side. Most would have recoiled, and flinched at the agony there, instead, she stopped, and turned her head to stare at the wound, where a razor sharp disc had pierced through her body. She touched the wound, briefly, pressing against it, blood bubbling over her fingers.

Her head tilted, curiously, yellow gaze flicking back up to the downed Sith- little more than a boy.

"Mistress Silence, your ship is ready for departure, how do you fare?" came a call over her com. She took a step back, staring at the wounded creature, then pouted again, her eyes narrowing.

"The Dark One is taking a nap, our paths shall cross again," with a sigh, she turned, and vanished into the shadows.

Eyes slowly fluttered open, they opened up to a blurry environment around him. His head pounded in a terrible pain, his body feeling as sore as can be. As he came to, Raphael examined his wounds before finding his feat. The young Sith needed to get himself and his companion back to the transport immediately, they both needed to find themselves in a Bacta Tank for a while.

Gathering himself towards his feet, the young man picked his scattered weapons from the ground. He then moved towards his friend, collapsing in pain right next to him.

Fingers tapped on his holowatch to send an outgoing transmission to his transport. “We need pickup…. Get us off this filthy planet!” he shouted at his watch.

He looked around his nearby environment; Raphael had let Silence slip away. It angered him that she bested him, he would need to train harder in preparation for when they would meet again and he would be sure that they would.
