Board Policy on Crossover Material

Hey folks. Recently we've had a number of enquiries/concerned questions about the use of crossover material on Sithlore, from outside the Star Wars Universe.

First I'd like to say that we've always tried to take a reasonably free hand with people's creativity, and not stifle it too much beyond what's fair to other players. However, it should be obvious to everyone from the title of our community that this is a Star Wars board, and it's very important to us to keep the character of our universe aligned in a way which people find recognisably "Star Wars" in character. It's perfectly ok to like things which are outside the Star Wars universe, but this isn't the place for them.


So to those who have asked recently, no, we don't really condone people wholesale importing technology, ideas, names or visual imagery from other genres, IP's or fictional universes.


That doesn't mean you can't creatively incorporate ideas from other types of fiction, just do it in a way as to make it undeniably Star Wars, not some peculiar hybrid of the two.


Finally I'd like to say that the staff recognises the fact that this is a highly subjective matter- what is crossover to one may just be "influenced by" to another. We don't want to get too proscriptive about this, and are hoping that people take this message in the spirit it is meant, and police their own activity so that we aren't forced to intervene.
