The retirement of a Carbine
Re: The retirement of a Carbine
With the glow rod ignited she could see a torch which was most likely a start in a chain of torches. Using the force once more (pyrokenisis) she lit the torch she could see with the glow rod light. Sure enough the rest lit, now one could see.
"Well now where?" She asked. One could see now, but the feeling of darkness didn't leave. It never tended to leave even with light. There were many halls, that could lead anywhere to anything. It could literally take days to figure out where to go.

Re: The retirement of a Carbine
Rhoden paused at a t-junction in the hallway and tilted his head. He decided on right, "Right, I suppose." he said. they walked on and Rhoden paused before another door. He turned abruptly and opened it. They were in a library of sorts, it looked as though something had taken place within--a fire or explosion of some sort.
"Interesting." he muttered, "Look around and see what you can find, I'll be over--here." he said walking towards a pile of rubble. He began shifting through the debris, he pulled out an old scroll, some glass pyramid, an amulet, and a small journal. "Can you make anything of these?" he asked setting them on a table as he looked at the Inquisitor's back.
There was a whisper of air, and what sounded like a voice. Rhoden pulled his blaster and looked around. He didn't know if he'd actually heard it or if it had been some damn Force thing, or if he was just more concerned than he realized himself. He lowered the blaster and turned to see the Inquisitor staring--presumably--at him.

The wind picked up violently, it blowed more at Rhoden than herself. "Idiot why did you touch those?" She said. She felt like she was watching a child who knew nothing. 'Get out!' A voice whispered. This wasn't good, it was obvious that some Sith spirit was attached to one of the items that had been disturbed so carefree. It wouldn't matter at this point which one they needed to be removed from the temple before it could do harm.
Kota looked for the closest window and used the force to toss the pile of things outside (telekinisis). Hopefully it didn't have enough time to manifest, however if it did it meant that there would be major problems as long as there remained. "We need to move fast since you decided to play with Sith things." She said.

"Then your guidance is better than mine, Inquisitor." Rhoden said. With any luck she was able to focus enough inside the temple to be nudged in the right direction in the Force, or whatever it was that always seemed to lead those people in the right direction.
"Solid motivation not to stay in this place any longer." Rhoden muttered as he moved in the Inquisitor's wake. The voice bothered him, but only slightly. Anything the apparition could do would affect him little, besides trap and kill him, or just kill him. Neither option of which he was particularly fond of, but nor was he bothered much by that possibility.
They continued to move with haste through the temple, coming to another room with large pillars stabbing up into darkness. The chamber, more akin to a throne room in Rhoden's mind had writing along the walls and once they moved forward to where Rhoden felt sure there would be a throne he saw instead a stone column rose up, the top of it housed an object Rhoden couldn't see properly. The object was housed within a circular cutout in the pillar but the space around it seemed to distort and swirl.
"Do you know what it is?" Rhoden asked as a soft blood-red glow began to outline the carvings on the column and grew stronger, spreading slowly out from the column.

"Whatever you do don't touch it." She said to Rhoden. The object appeared much like a holocron, however she wasn't sure with the pillar protecting it. Most likely a well guarded trap waiting for an unsuspecting person to attempt to move or remove it. One had to be careful, she used the force to carefully sense around it. Kota needed to figure out how to move the holocron without setting off whatever trap. She figured out that it was straight forward, she needed to carefully lift the holocron up.
Once this was achieved she carefully placed the holocron on a small table. An image of a sith Woman appeared as the holocron reacted to her force use. "I'm Darth Lian what questions do you post?" She said. 'Oh good straight forward.' She thought. "Do you know what happened to a Samuel Carbine?" She asked. "He became one of my best students after he was taken from the slavers, Darth Necrantor" She responded. Kota froze, that was a name she knew. "Darth Necrantor was Lady Kota's father... you're now related to one of the greatest enemies of the state." Kota said as she looked at him from behind her mask.

Re: The retirement of a Carbine
Rhoden blinked at the simplicity of the device, a simple database for all intents and purposes. Rhoden smiled at the answer. He felt a distant fury at having lost a Carbine to the Sith, but that was the past. Perhaps he could track down this Lady Kota and provide Roger with some comfort, at the very least the man could be secure in his son's survival and prosperity.
Rhoden tilted his head, there was perhaps a way his loyalties to the Empire and to his family. "What exactly is this Lady Kota charged with, if I might ask?" Rhoden inquired, "Is she simply guilty by association to my traitorous relative?" Rhoden had to speak carefully, but he felt an unreasonable trust in the Inquisitor for some reason. "In any case what information do we have on her, I would like very much to meet her--perhaps she is a traitor, but she is still family. I must speak to her."
Rhoden began running through a mental list of how he could search for her, but to search for a Force user, let alone speak to them when they didn't particularly want an audience, would be a task all its own. He would have to deal with that later though, his immediate concern was probing the Inquisitor for any information she could provide.

"We have a database on her at Bastion, her list of offenses are just about anything and everything. If you're going to search for Lady Kota you are on your own. I will not go after anyone of that stature without the Grand Admiral's authority. Shes most likely in Alliance space or Mandalorian, also chances of her killing you on sight are likely. She might do it multiple times just cause she can or so I heard." She said.
'This dude is nuts.' She thought. No imperial came looking for her just cause they were family. Kota herself was still processing it. "I will not stop you from going, but you will most likely be charged with conspiracy." She said. She was trying to deter him from seeking her.

Re: The retirement of a Carbine
Rhoden's face hardened beneath the helmet, "If searching out a convict or a family member is illegal so be it. If anyone wants to press those charges and bring me in I doubt there would be anything left of them to report my location." Rhoden bit down on his anger. He would indeed look for this Lady Kota, if he got the chance, and the Empire wouldn't stand in his way.
He got a grip on himself and slowed his breathing, "I will attempt to locate her, and, all things considered, contact her from a reasonable distance." Rhoden said, "If you'd like to be present for such an interacting I would appreciate it, since you would be able to vouch for my not conspiring. In any event I would think Lady Kota would interest you greatly."
"Though considering my family record I would protest greatly any charge levied against me. If this Kota cannot be reasoned with I'll bring her in, alive, and I would hope she would stay that way." Rhoden wondered about the charged against this Kota. Loyal though he may be he had no illusions as to the justice system of the Empire, she could have been easily labeled as a criminal simply by her relation.
He felt frustration rise in him at the situation, "So, if the Grand Admiral did sanction some kind of search for this Kota you would be willing to cooperate with me on an investigation, yes?" Rhoden asked sharply.

Re: The retirement of a Carbine
"I said likely, its not a guarantee that you would be charged. Depends on who is catching you, which will not be me. I will not come, nor will I aid in this, Lady kota isn't one to be accepting to any Imperial. Nor will she be brought in alive, she's not going to come freely. I will get you to the database and no farther, i doubt highly that the grand Admiral will sanction anything against lady kota. Mainly due to the fact that our resources are against the sith and two campaigns. It would strain us extremely and possibly cause us to lose another world or worst." She said.
'He's not going to give up.' She thought. This commander was nuts as far as she was concerned. Kota was done with him as far as this job was concerned, she began to leave this conversation was over. There was zero chance that the grand inquisitor would ever meet lady kota.

Re: The retirement of a Carbine
Rhoden said nothing more but watched the Inquisitor as she left, following her silently. He didn't know if he'd be able to track down this Kota, but he would make an effort. In any case being killed multiple times would make an interesting study.
They arrived back at the ship without being murdered by any Force spirit crazies, which was an unexpected but welcome outcome. They boarded and Rhoden took the ship out. He may not have found Roger's son alive and well, but at least he could tell the man that his son had survived, and that he had a granddaughter.
The ship made the jump to hyperspace and Rhoden turned away from the swirling blue. He picked up his datapad and began reading the limited files on Lady Kota that he could access from the YT.
