Aliclair took a small time to rub the spots where the lasers zapped her. She knew pain would be a weakness, and she would need push past that. If she became anger with every pain dished out, she would be constantly be blind. As she hydrated herself, Aliclair thought to herself for a while. She took a look at the zapped areas; nothing major. A small mark that would fade away. But, it was time to get her head straight; this is what she needed to learn, and wanted to learn.

While walking back to her Master, she noticed the staff in his hands, and looked straight at him. She pondered for a minute then nodded mentally to herself. Taking in Ben's wise words, a small tingle radiated at the back of her head and this caused her to glance at his hand with the staff, seeing the muscles grip then not even a second later, he lifted then pushed it her way. Ali dipped her head and torso to the side, clenching her jaw due to leaning on a zapped leg but she didn't allow herself to falter or collapse. She stood upright with her hands readied for anything, in a semi-closed hand so she could switch from fist to palm quickly as she checked her breathing. And it was regulated.

Her reactions were spot on but he would not let up now. As she danced away he was right there to try and block her movement. If he could maneuver correctly then he could drive her into the corner of the training room and once he had her in the corner then her efforts of evasion would come far more difficult. In order to help this action he took his staff and struck out at her right side twice back to back and then he launched another jabbing strike down to her right foot to help redirect her into the direction he wanted to drive her in.

Aliclair’s senses were new and fresh but Ben could feel that they were constantly in motion and driving towards perfection. While perfection was many years in the making, he would help her find the right track where she could continue her training and find a medium of perfection. It was an endless journey and he wanted only the best for his Padawan because he truly believed in her and what she could someday become.

Aliclair switched to the defense while getting on the mets of her feet to better dodge. He aimed high and low to get her to back up. And with each jab and parry with his staff, a dodge followed. Her eyes shifting copper-red to show the activation of her Force, she decided to put her newfound skill to use. (danger sense) Opening her bubble, she could predict where Ben's staff would attack.

Raising an eyebrow, she glanced back to see an upcoming wall. But in the mist of her scanning, an attack hit her ankle. She let out a pained "rrr!" but she stayed up and not fell, working on one foot more than the other. She huffed through controlled breathing. And with a perfect parry of Ben's staff, she grabbed the end with a grip of steel then gave a small yank, clenching her teeth as she clipped Ben's foot using her Achilles' heel.

Switching up her defense was a clever move, when a tactic was not working then you needed to be perceptive enough to change and try something else. She did and she instantly started to prove herself far more capable in this melee than she had been a moment ago. But it was not until she started to tap into the Unifying Force did she begin to excel. Her natural talent was solid and while still a 'rookie' she was making decisions and moves that would make an experienced Knight blush. Ben sure was proud to see her dancing in and out of his strikes and blocking where and when she needed to.

Her footwork was excellent. He wondered if she knew how to dance. Typically dancers were light on their feet and she was doing it so naturally that she had to of had some kind of formal training, knowing her background, he suspected that she knew how to move her feet so well for this reason. Whatever the case may be, she was so graceful on her toes that her movements were nothing short of beautiful. He admired that in her.

Finally his sparring and prodding scored a strike on her ankle. He had been targeting her there to try a mobilization kill. Take out a nimble opponent's ability to maneuver and then it was only a matter of time. However, the strike lacked significant power and aside from the feeling of being struck she managed to handle the situation perfectly.

Even so she never lost her cool and even focused on concentrating about the fight better and through the next series of strikes she offered a perfect parry. It could and maybe would have brought a tear to Ben's eye if she had not been so fast in the counter-attack in which she gripped his staff. With only an instant to react he gripped the staff hard with both hands and was about to counter himself when she swept low and clipped his foot.

He smiled as he felt his momentum die and knew that he would fall. That was fine. Instinct took over and his body was already reacting before his mind even caught up. As he fell backwards her grip of steel worked against her and he pulled her right with him.

Falling down to the mat he kicked up his knees into her stomach and kicked off with his feet which would force her to sail up and over him unless she managed to counter quickly. His smile never left him though, he was beaming with joy and pride in her skills and he only wished her to become ever more capable. He would teach her everything he knew in time...

After clipping her Master to the ground, she figured she was off the hook. She lifted her whacked ankle off the ground to give it a break but before she could release the staff, she was pulled along. Letting out a startled yelp, then an 'oof!' as she was catapulted over her master. Aliclair already was feeling the effects of slight fatigue, and using whatever strength store, she allowed herself to flip then using her hands, both of them this time, to push herself off the ground and to her feet.

She grumbled, stumbling abit before shaking her head and exhaling. The exhale centered herself and became calm-minded before waiting to see if her Master had any other attacks up his sleeve, holding her hands in semi-fists.

She landed with grace and came right back up into a defensive posture. He rolled with the momentum and stood up, his back was towards her but that did not mean he was so vulnerable and immediately his staff launched out from underneath his arm he sent a rapid jab in towards her stomach which recovered and he sent it in a wide arc crossing around his torso, pivoting off his shoulder and it came crashing down towards her left shoulder up high. He took this moment to spin with the attack to face her once more.

Whether the attack landed or not he moved onto the offensive and kicked into the air, jumping high to do so where his kick would easily land in the center of her chest. He could sense her fatigue and she was not giving up, that was an important feature about her for in many occasions she would feel exhausted and fatigued but in order to accomplish the mission she would have to press on and find reserved where she may have otherwise thought she was done. And Ben trained as he fought. While he did not fight to kill or truly harm he also did not pull his punches.

They continued at this pace for another hour until he saw her body could take no more and then he ended the fight. “Well done, Aliclair. You can have the rest of the night off.” He said with a smile. “But in the morning we’ll start again. We’ll get you in fighting shape yet!”

Steady, one. Two.

Aliclair paced her breathing and let out a shaky exhale, sweat beads rolling down her face. This was nothing new, and something she'd grown accustom to, and expected. Even while tired, she felt her body start to move on it's own, as if knowing these patterns, but her whacked ankle still put her at a disadvantage. With the assault of jabs, she decided to do something she'd never thought would be used in combat; Ali twirled back out of range while still trying to operate on one foot, then ducked to the shoulder attack. She figured she'd need to thank her parents at one point. Those ballet lessons and dances allowed her body to be balance. But, Ben's kick came quick and Ali didn't have the time, or strength in her legs to dodge. She let out a grunted growl as she roughly fell back.

For the next hour of them combating, Ali needed to learn when to conserve and dish out. With her energy coming and going as it pleased, when it was all over - said and done, the worked feminine allowed her body to lay flat against the floor to absorb its coolness against her heated body. As she panted like a wrought animal, she extended her hand to Ben, and pulled herself to her feet when he gripped her hand. "You owe my ankle an apology." she teased with a small smile on her lips.

That very next morning just as promised the Jedi Master awoke his Padawan and dragged her right back into the training room, groggy and sore from her training all the same, this new day would bring about the aspects of knowledge she would need to construct her foundations into becoming a great Jedi someday. “Good morning, Aliclair. Hope you slept well.” He smiled warmly but this was no time to spend on pleasantries.

Moving to the weapon table he selected an old training saber. It was a simple instrument; a lightsaber hilt and a low power beam not designed for anything more than the training of Padawans. He tossed it to her and picked up his own. “Let us practise with the lightsaber then.” He maneuvered into a Ready Stance and held his hilt out, “the first thing of any lightsaber combat training it in the simplest feat… holding the blade. Engage the beam.” His own golden yellow lightsaber gave off a snap-hiss and came to life casting a beautiful warm golden hue over him and the immediate area. He awaited Aliclair to do the same.

“Notice first that the blade itself is weightless. Completely devoid of any resistance at all.” He motioned to the table and to the vibroswords and even her lance, “those weapons hold weight and may only be maneuvered as fast as physics allow.” He motioned to his light weapon and to hers, “with these there is a lack thereof. You can move these blades as fast as your wrist may rotate the hilt. This is what makes the lightsaber such a dangerous weapon… to not only your opponent but to yourself and even those you intend to protect.”

For a moment he moved his lightsaber in a slow orbit around his body. It was a smooth exercise and even soothing to watch. “At all times you must know your lightsaber. Where it is, where it is going, and how fast.” His orbit sped up to an impressive rate, the golden blade blurring. “Use the Force and feel. Sense the energies of your weapon and understand them, form a bond with the crystal within your hilt and let it speak to you. Sensing where your blade is at all times is key for it is a simple thing and frighteningly common for an accident to involve a nasty cut or even amputation, and all self-inflicted.”

He gave Aliclair plenty of time to become familiar with her new saber and fall into her own orbit with it.

Force Extension: Lightsaber Combat

> BEGIN <

Being dragged out of bed after a tough training session was an immediate no-no in the Padawan's book. She moved stiff; even with the cold soak to relax her muscles. Ali kept her eyes closed as they walked. She wanted to get back in bed; it was practically calling her. But, this was the training she had to endure to follow her path. She gave her eye a rub then looked up at her Master with one barely open eye. His smile contagious, and she couldn't help but to smile too. Even if it was a small one. The two entered the training room, and she began to contemplated if she should move a cot in here; seemed like she spent more time in here anyways.

She raised an eyebrow slightly. No combat training? She exhaled abit, in more so relief than anything else. Her ankle still ached. Her opalescent hued optics looked over the weapons, but the training sabre stuck out to her. The classic weapon that just about any Jedi had. As well as her mother. Ali felt a small ping of nostalgia; she hoped to see her family again soon but now wasn't the time to dwell in the past. She had to tend to her future. Taking the training sabre in hand and giving it a few brief tosses. Even tossing it to her other hand. It was heavy. Especially for just a hilt but dealing with training swords in the past prepared her. Using her thumb and pinkie while the hilt was in her hand, it rotated against her palm before she gripped it firmly then looked toward Ben. Her eyebrows quirked, in slight awe of his saber technique. And, it even looked familiar. But the thought didn't stick in her mind. Taking a step back, she pressed the button to activate the saber, and to hear the activation sound brought a small smile to her lips, giving it a quick wrist twirl before holding it normal. Then, tracing Ben's technique, Ali prepped her wrist, taking it slow. With the activated sabre, she started the beginning few steps and pushed the hilt forward but caught it using her thumb to keep it within her hand. The plasma blade was brought forth then down and with her wrist, brought the blade into a full rotational circle before returning it upright. That was one step, now to rotate it behind. She repeated what she did in the first step, but twisted the blade behind her then pulled it back forward. Ali couldn't help but to spring a bubbled giggle.

In her excitement, she repeated the two steps but at a quicker pace. But, she missed the bonding part with her crystal, her saber, and the downgraded blade skidded the side of her thigh. Aliclair released a pained brief screech and quickly moved the plasma blade away, looking down at her leg. Luckly, she had pants to cushion most of the blow but it did burn a hole, and some of her skin. She paused, and actually stopped to think. If it'd been a real saber, she probably would have a good chunk of her thigh missing. Now, she was extra wary but it didn't discourage her to continue. The she-padawan took a moment to not swing this blade. But to look at it. It emitted the same color of Ben's, but much lighter. And of another crystal she knew of. Recover, forgive and move past the blockade. Even if it was a training tool, this blade would help her to her future to having her forever weapon. "Alright.. let's try this again." she said softly and prepped herself to retry Form III: Soresu.

Now with using her Force in alignment with the training sabre, she'd used her Force to watch her steps and sense danger. Now it was to help her know where the skin burning blade would be, even to guide not to make contact with her skin... again. Ali couldn't lie to herself; she was nervous. That burn didn't tickle. But, she pushed the saber forward into a rotation in front of her, behind and repeated the process, increasing its speed but at pace instead of in haste. The plasma blade traveled down, around up then repeated but behind her. The whooshing sounds brought tranquility, peace of mind. Knowing a weapon within her hand could save her life on many occasions. The defensive Form III slowly perfected with time and she eventually brought it to stop with the blade infront of her. Then, deactivated it.

Watching her achieve brought no small amount of pride to Ben’s heart and even in her failures, it was her effort to rise above them and find a way through it all, that made him truly beam with pride. Singed leg and all the young Padawan managed to adapt and overcome and in time her orbits became smooth, fluid and sound. It was not perfect but she was growing so fast in skill and her poise, even her footwork was becoming all the better. Even despite the early hour.

Her blade extinguished he have her a smile. “Well done. The lightsaber is a difficult weapon to master but once done, it shall become second nature, a part of you. Now, let us see what you have learned.”

Righting himself into the Ready Stance his golden yellow blade rose up high and rotated around to be held at his side and aiming diagonally away. This was an offensive stance and he nodded to her that she should prepare herself. Sore ankle, burned thigh, fatigue, worn muscles, these things did not matter. Her training needed to press on. Never before had they sparred with lethal means, but today Ben would not put away his lightsaber. It was an extension of his self and he could control its every aspect even to the minute detail. But it was a factor Aliclair did not know and that little bit of mental concern was even a challenge for her to overcome. The risks of being a Jedi Knight were plain and she would face them daily. He would prepare her for that day.

Ben Kenobi advanced slowly and sold his movements to her clearly that she would be able to easily see the diagonal slash from her lower right hip crossing up to upper left shoulder. It would be in this first moment of defense that she would learn the feeling of the weightless blade being struck and how fast she could get that guard up. Some Padawans had their sabers slapped right from their hands immediately because it was not a sword they were using and the weightless nature was difficult to use at first.

He hoped Aliclair would not be among that number. Ben always hoped for her success in all things, even as difficult as he made them out to be…
