Light,Peace and Knowledge [Adar Training]

Post by Adar Bolner » Fri Feb 12, 2021 4:45 pm

Today was the day. After a long time and quite a few adventures, Adar's training would begin at last. He couldn't hide his excitement. It was like getting a new toy or being accepted into your dream job. But the Force was neither a toy nor a dream. It was real. He had felt it so many times without knowing. It had helped him more than he would ever realize through all the past months. But that should be left aside for now. Adar was to meet with his Jedi Master today. Well, he didn't actually know who it would be. He just knew it wasn't going to be Master Kenobi. He didn't mind that one bit though. He had faith the Council would entrust Adar in someone as brilliant and strong as Kenobi was.

He was now finishing eating his breakfast, taking another look at the room he was given. It was simple, with a few decorations and symbols, but it felt warm and welcoming. Like he was home away from home. Well, this room and this temple upon Koda Station would be his home for quite a while...

But it was time to go to the training grounds. He was wearing his Padawan robes, though he didn't really like them that much. They were to broad, and quite monotonous. Outside of the temple he rarely wore them. But since they were necessary in here, Adar wore them. There was no need to go against hundreds of years of tradition for personal reasons. He was here to learn, and eventually to protect those in need.

He arrived on the training grounds. They were empty for the time, with no other Padawan or Master in the area. Though he did go by a few others on his way here. They didn't pay him much attention, but they were polite and exchanged greetings every time they passed by. He guessed this would be the case, as he was maybe the newest member and the others didn't know how to react. Anyhow, he sat tight and awaited patiently.

"You must be Adar, right?" a voice, feminine. Adar looked to his left to see someone standing. A female Togruta, with light blue skin tone and intricate, exotic clothing. They didn't seem to be made from anything Adar had seen before. Her posture indicated some authority, but also a kindness akin to that of an aunt. Was she Adar's Master?

"Yes, I am. And you are?" he said, inquiring to what she wanted from him, and to confirm if she was his Master.
She let out a smile "I am Jedi Master Vessa Olinni. I was requested by the Council to take you up as my apprentice.". She extended her hand and Adar made sure to shake it. She continued talking while Adar listened carefully. "I know this may seem all too formal, but I can assure you, there is no need to fear or stress. The journey of a Padawan is a wonderfull thing." she smiled, with nostalgic eyes. "I remember my days as a Padawan clear. I was nervous, didn't know what to expect, even a bit intimidated. I believe I sense the same feelings in you". Adar was a bit shocked. "How did you know? Is it that obvious?" "Well, not on your face, but in the Force. But we are getting ahead of ourselves already."
Her expression got serious.

"First of all, there is something very important you must decide upon."
"Wait, what would be so important for me to decide already?" His question was ignored.
"You need to decide if you are willing to become my student, my Padawan."
Well that was certaintly unexpected. Adar thought it weird to even make a decision on that.
"Isn't that for the council to decide?"
"The council makes suggestions. It gives guidance. You are the one who, in the end, decides. Who you are, what you want to be, and who to follow. This might be a bit early, but trust your feelings."
His feelings? Adar was puzzled. But Master Vessa semmed sincere when she told him this. He took a moment to think and feel what should be his answer. Well, the answer seemed clear. Master Vessa seemed like a lovely person, and if the council thought her fit to train Adar, then he would put his trust in them and in her.
"I wish for you to take up my training. I wish to learn form you".
"That is great to hear. From now on till you are a Jedi Knight, I shall address and regard you as my student, my Padawan. Do you have any questions before we begin?"
"Just one. How should I address you?"
Master Vessa smiled. "However you like. I am sure that by now you know that most Padawans call those in higher rank "Master". That is not a requirement, but it is the custom. Should I earn your respect enough for you to call me Master, then that would make me happy."
Adar smiled. "Very well Master."
"Then your journey begins now, young Padawan."

The first lesson was on. Both Master and Padawan were sitting on the Jedi training grounds on the temple aboard Koda Station. The grounds were empty, yet it was evident that a few more Masters and students could fit in. Jedi Master Vessa Olinni was talking to her new Padawan, Adar Bolner, about history of the Jedi, as well as their customs and practices, which were important for him to know. After a while, however, she noticed Adar was having a young time understanding her.

"Am I speaking too fast, Adar?" she asked with concern. Also to test whether he was even paying attention. After all, if he wasn't willing to listen, what would be the point of his training?
"No Master, it's just... you keep talking about the Force, yet I do not understand what it is."
Master Vassa rose up, and asked Adar to accompany her while they walked around the training grounds.
"Well, what do you know about it?"
"Very little, I am afraid. I know it is around us and in all things. I know it gives Jedi and Sith their powers."
Master Vassa let out a small chuckle. "Right, now I understand your confusion earlier." She stopped before a wall, with some inscriptions on it. They were meditation one line guides, so that the Padawans could learn and remember at all times what to do when meditating.
"The Force is an energy that always existed since the start of the world. That we call "The Cosmic Force" When living and later sentient beings begun to emerge, they gave an expression to that Force. That we call "The Living Force", as it represents the life energy of everything living. The Life Force is fed to the Cosmic Force, and thus all living things are connected, even if they don't know it."
Adar listened in amazement. Once he would have found it hard to believe this, but it seemed easier now. It felt right and it gave him hope for the future.
"And so the Force, in a way, the Force is life, and life is the Force. It has a will, but it does not dictate. It guides, and if one is willing to listen to that guidance, they are surely to find peace and meaning."
"And why do the Jedi and Sith have such a different connection in the Force than others?"
"We are all Force-Sensitive. Meaning, we can feel the Force around us and interact with it. While the Sith try to control it, the Jedi let the Force guide them and flow through them. After all, to try to control the Force is to try to Control life itself."
Master Vassa sat down in her usual meditation stance. "Why don't you join me for your first meditation?"
"Meditation?" Adar was not that spiritual up until his life. Such practices felt useless and ridiculous to him.
"Yes, my Padawan. After all, your first lesson is to feel the Force. You are capable. All you need to do is be willing."
"Is this the only way?"
"Do I sense uncertainty in you?"
"Fine, I will try."
Adar sat down next to his Master. He crossed his legs, and rested his hands on his feet. He found it uncomfortable at first, but soon that feeling gave way to relaxation. He thought he was kinda foolish to not have ever tried to even assume such a position. He was instructed to breath slowly. And he did so for a while. It felt weird to him. It felt good, but he wasn't used to feeling good. His familly split in two, his childhood spent earning money to survive, and his factory life... shivers came up. What he was feeling felt like someone was trying to hug him, and yet he was covered head to toe in spikes. His resolve was waving, and a that moment he felt the hand of Master Vassa touch his shoulders. She spoke in a serious, almost scolding voice.
"Do not torment yourself with your past. Let it go." Adar was shocked. "I... yes Master."
"Padawan, if this is too much for you, then let us stop here for now. We will pick up tomorrow where we left off."
"No, I will try again."
"There is no trying. You either have the resolve to do it, or you stop and try again later."
Adar did not respond. Master Vassa hoped he would not fail on his first lesson, but even if he did it was ok. Some people needed more time than others. If the esteemed Masters of the Counsil saw that he had potential to be trained as a Jedi Padawan, he would not fail in the end.
"Then I will do it." It seemed that Adar had the resolve to succeed in the lesson after all
"Excellent. Breath. Do not think. Do not be distracted. Try to feel the Force, look within you. Let go."

[ Begin Apply for Force Sensitivity - 100 words required ]

Adar begun once more to meditate, keeping in mind his Master's words. He started relaxing, but was not able to zone out. His mind was messy, and he couldn't clear the connection this moment. Still, he took a few more deep breaths, and little by little he slowed down his racing thoughts. For the first time in his life, he felt peace of mind. It was a wonderful feeling, but he wasn't here for that. Despite not being sure where to focus, or even where to "look", he tried to attune to the frequency of the Force. It was like searching for someone in the middle of the night among empty streets. Adar felt like hours passed, and still he had nothing. Of course, he wasn't going to lose patience or heart. He would try to connect to the Force for as long as it desired to stay hidden. Then, he realized that maybe he wasn't meant to find the Force, but to allow it to find him. And so, he patiently stood there, in deep meditation, until he felt something. A familiar feeling. A gut feeling. The kind of feeling that had helped him fend off against all those dangerous people, and had guided him subtly towards the Jedi. And soon, this gut feeling became clearer. Adar could not describe it exactly. It felt like a soft, caring wisher on his ear and warm, running water flowing through him. It was magnificent. Warmer than a mother's hug and deeper than a hundred oceans. It was the Force.

[ End Apply for Force Sensitivity - 258 words total ]

Adar exited from his meditation, and was surpised to see Master Vassa still here. Taking a closer look around, it didn't seem like a lot of time had past. Maybe half an hour at most. So what to Adar felt like hours was merely thirty minutes. Terrific, he thought, and went to greet his Master.
"Master, I believe I made a connection."
She was reading a book, presumably taken by the Jedi Archives that Adar had seen a few days back. It would seem she had total faith in Adar succeding, so much so that she didn't directly supervise him. Once she acknowledged Adar, she closed the book and turned to adress him.
"Indeed you did. Well done, that is all for today. But don't get used to it."
"What is that supposed to mean?!" he complained, like his achievement was being downplayed
"The journey of a Padawan is long and arduous. So go rest, and we shall continue tomorrow"

Training continued for Adar Bolner. For the last 10 days he had been through a lot, from reading books on the Force, the Jedi and the universe at large, to practicing the Jedi traditions and exercising. In today's exercise however, after 2 sets, he rested into the floor, breathing heavily. Master Vassa was there as well, overseeing his training.

"Master, is all this exercise every day important?"
"Yes, Adar. The body of a Jedi must be in peak performance, especially that of a Jedi Knight, who are the first to fight in the front lines. The Force will never fail you, but your body will if you let it."
Adar protested. "But I was already in shape!"
Master Vassa most of the time spoke with a calm and kind voice, yet responded with the strict tone of a teacher. It was necessary in order to correct and set straight her Padawan.
"You had a lot of strength, yes. But you need work all round. And as it would appear, a bit of stamina training."
Adar got back up to his feet, and realized his misunderstanding. He bowed slightly.
"I understand Master."
"Good. When you finish here, meet me for Force meditation." Adar nodded in agreement and went back to his exercise. As he did, a few other Padawans entered the room, in order to get their physical training too. Adar made small talk with them. He wasn't still fully used to this new life, but he was opening up more. Master Vassa went off to prepare the training room for meditation.

----------------------

Adar met up with his Master, finding her already in position, ready to meditate. He quickly joined her. He had improved in his ability to connect with the Force, but he still needed tons of work. Still, Adar was determined to improve.
"Today Padawan, I want you to do something different. You have been able to consistently reach out to the Force, but nothing more. Well, now I believe you are ready to go further, and feel the flow of the Force." Adar looked confused. Master Vassa continued. "Think of the hyperlanes. They have a start and an end point, and a ship can travel through them. You shall be that ship, travelling the flow of the Force, akin to a leaf flowing into a river. Though, let the Force be your guide. Do not try to control where you are going. The Force shall set you on your path. If it takes you on a detour, observe."
Adar understood, and set off to attempt this.

[ Begin Sense lvl 1 - 400 words required ]

A usual drift into meditative calmness, and after a while, there was only the Force. Now came the difficult part. Adar tried to move or to see through the Force, but to no avail. Patiently waiting for a change did not work either. He could still feel the Force, but it was a messy mixture. Calming, but ultimately no information could be discerned, no path to follow and no flow through the world. Then, he thought of something. Maybe he needed to concentrate. Then, the mess would clear, and the flow of the Force would become apparent. And so he did just that. He let go of himself for a while, and made sure to focus only on the Force. Although this was an easy state of mind to maintain, there were constant distractions. The usual outside distractions, mostly footsteps and voices. But now, he could hear, or rather feel distractions from the Force itself. After all, the Force encompassed and connected the whole universe. He needed to attune himself with the frequency of the Force. Then and only then could he sense the flow within it. And so he tried and tried again. It took a lot of time, but eventually, things became clear. Adar could "feel" the Force flowing around him. Despite not beeing able to see them, he sensed the plants in the room, many of the items inside, as well as his Master and a few passers-by. This was so different from his normal senses, yet at the same time so similar. Familiar even. Like this was something he had been doing all his life. He could see and feel the Force flowing into and from space, and expanding to the whole galaxy. That made him feel at peace, finally realizing that truly everything was connected together. He wondered where the Force would, after a few more sessions, take him. For he felt no need to exercise directive over it. He wanted to make requests, and let the Force take him there. What was interesting to Adar was that the Force seemed to pass through objects and people, without disturbing or alarming them. The Force passed through him as well, and it was through that stream that he was experiencing all of this. He also noted how the Force's flow bent and changed, yet it all remained cohesive. After a little while, he stopped, as this whole process proved quite tiring. He was, at least, happy with the resolve.

[ End Sense lvl 1 - 413 words total ]

"So it is true that everything is connected through the Force. I felt you Master, the plants, the room, and so much more..."
"Easy, Adar. Do not tire yourself more." her soft voice proud of her Padawan's progress. "Well done. I wonder how much you will improve next time. It will definetely become easier, and a bit less tiresome."
"I sure hope so Master. Though it is worth it. The Force is truly magical."
"It really is."
They both laughed, and finished that day's training.

"Hm, I wonder how the Jedi Order could not forsee that Palpatine was the Sith Lord pulling the strings behind everything. Didn't a few of the greatest Jedi live in that era?"
"Maybe, Adar, he was using some sort of force masking. He was the sole most powerfull Sith alive, thanks to the rule of two."
"Not powerfull enough if he was defeated."
"Hm, I'll have to look into this more. The Jedi knowledge archives sure are vast. And our studies only cover a small portion of it."
"Stop beeing such a book worm. Or are you a librarian Padawan all of a sudden?" they both said playfully at Adar. They all laughed.
Master Vassa entered the room, looking for Adar. She noticed him studying along with some other padawans. She showed respect when speaking to them. "Padawan Luke, Padawan Delila." She then addressed Adar, her voice raised. "Padawan, you are late for our Force training session. Please come immediately." Adar let out a sigh. "Yes Master. Excuse me." he waved to the other padawans, and apologized for the scene and the trouble.
"Adar is fun. And Master Vassa seems strict." said Luke.
"No, she is quite kind. She just wants her Padawan to work hard. And he is doing that, unlike some others" said Delila and giggled. Luke did protest, but he knew she was right. They both returned to their studies.

------------------------

Today's meditation seemed to go as normal. The usual Force training, with an emphasis on Sense. Adar was getting quite good with the flow of the Force, good enough for Master Vassa to teach him the next step. A basic technique, but quite important.
"Well done Adar, but we are not done yet. You have felt the flow of the Force enough to be familiar with it, so it is time to teach you about Force Disturbances."
"Disruptions in the Force?"
Vassa nodded. "Exactly. The Force flows and connects people and places, but sometimes the path it naturally takes is altered. Mind you, such event is not always malicious. When a Force user calls on the Force for aid, they alter its flow, and as such cause Force Disturbances. However, these are small scale disturbances, and no cause for concern. Natural events or great catastrophes cause much larger Force Disturbances. Such disturbances can be quite discomforting. It is often the Force users feel sick and distraught. The recent battle of Rhen Var is an excellent, or rather morbid, example of such Disturbances. I couldn't sleep for the duration."
"Sounds scary." said Adar. However scary it might have been, he trusted his Master. He would train and master the Force and its mysteries.
"There is no need to scared. This is a step towards a close union with the Force. When the Force feels pain, so do we. A Jedi is one with the Force, and the Force is with him."
"I see. I'm ready then." Adar was ready to put his fear away, and put his faith in his Master and the Force.
"I will move a few objects around the room using the Force. That should create enough disturbances for you to pick up."

[ Begin Sense Force Disturbance - 100 words required ]

Adar established a connection with the Force, and waited patiently while observing the Force and its flow. Soon, Master Vassa begun moving various objects around the room, creating small disturbances in the Force. Adar didn't really notice anything at first, but he made sure to keep his mind clear, and let the Force flow through him freely. And then, explosions. Or at least he felt something like explosions. An unnatural sensation of change, which he couldn't believe to come from the Force itself. These feelings must have been the disturbances. He noticed that the flow of the Force was ever so slightly altered, no doubt by his Master. The Force disturbance felt similar to an alarm ringing on, creating small ripples in the Force. But soon something else caught his attention, or more accurately the Force pointed him to look in another direction. He followed along, trusting in its guidance. It wasn't long before he sensed pain, fear, and surprise. Not his own, but coming from somewhere far away. He couldn't pinpoint its location. A sickening feeling followed, unnatural and silent. If death itself had a feeling, then this would be it. Adar begun to sweat, and feel physical pain. What is happening to those people, why are they screaming, he thought. The Living Force wept, and Adar was feeling it along side it. He was then awoken by Master Vassa.

[ End Sense Force Disturbance - 231 words total ]

"Adar, are you alright?" she said, with immense worry in her voice and face.
Adar let out a few quick breaths, and begun to calm down. "Yes, I am alright. I believe that in addition to the local disturbances, the Force guided or showed me something else. A big disturbance in the Force. So much pain... so many screams..."
Master Vassa begun to comfort the young Padawan, for she felt the disturbance as well, though she was used to them by now. Such was life in this galaxy, with the Empire, the Sith and so many others causing so much suffering. They didn't exchange another word, for they both knew what the other wanted to say.

Re: Light,Peace and Knowledge [Adar Training]

Post by Adar Bolner » Fri Mar 05, 2021 6:42 pm

A whistle across the halls could be heard by all moving around the Jedi Temple. A loud, excited whistle. Adar was in a great mood. His progress was sound so far. He had made new friends and new acquaintances, with what he thought were space monks a long ago no less. How funny, that fate and the Force could push us in such a wild direction. But he was truly grateful. His world before was rotten. A stale job, a broken family, and a handful of people. A life devoid of purpose. Now, he was living a second life. One that was brighter, literally and figuratively. His studies and his connection of the Force had a profound effect on him. They made him a better person, and someone who values all life and will defend it from all the evils of the galaxy.

Master Vassa was waiting for her Padawan to arrive for his force training. She was meditating, and asking the Force for guidance. She had done that ever since her last Padawan had met an unfortunate demise. She knew it wasn't her fault, but she always wondered what she could have done better. Her meditation came to an end as she detected Adar's presence in the room.

"Master. Shall we begin?"
"Adar. You seem to be in a good mood today."
"Well, I believe I finally got used to all of this. The Force has been a big part of this happiness."
A bright smile formed in her face "And I hope it never disappoints you, and you never lose your touch with it. Now, let us begin."

They both were in meditation stance, and ready for today's lesson.
"You should know by now that there are three aspects of the Force. Sense, Control, and Alteration. Today we shall touch on control." Adar was, as always, eager to learn. "Control of the Force sounds, at first, against what you have been taught. But the Jedi do not enforce their will upon the Force, and don't control it. What we mean by Control is the subtle manipulation of the Force. A simple push is more than enough for us. And it is not as we alter the flow of the Force without consent. The Force is often willing to change direction in order for us to further our goal. In order to be considered a beginner, you must be able to move small objects around. I will guide you, but be warned, a lot of Padawans struggle with this. I consider it an extention of the Force that is and flows within me. Are you ready?" Adar smiled with confidence. "Ready as ever Master."

[ Begin Control lvl 1 - 400 words required ]

The Force was as always peaceful. Full of motion that ordinary people didn't pay attention to, much like the movement of the planets across their star systems. Adar set out to attain Control over the Force. He tried moving his hand, as he had seen his Master do a few times. The results were what he expected. Nothing. The Force, despite its constant flow through all things, seemed at that moment, unmoving. Like a river turning frozen solid all of a sudden. Was the Force denying him? He kept trying to, focusing on breaking through and extending the Force that reached his hand outward, towards the object he wanted to lift. His frustration increased as he seemed to go nowhere. The Force itself seemed to be denying him. He felt if he pushed it anymore, It would push back, violently. So, he took a break, with Master Vassa offering additional advice and guidance. After a while, he tried again. The Force hadn't changed much, but Adar tried something different. He tried to make small adjustments instead of reaching out for the the object, a small, empty vase. This time, he saw some progress. He felt the flow of the Force slowly shift, and move through Adar's hand towards the vase. The flow was far from stable, but it was controlable. Adar saw that when he moved his hand around slightly, the wave of Force changed direction. He thought it was good that he was able to control it, but his pride was soon shattered when the vase refused to move. Instead of letting his disappointment through, he made some keen observations. His control was unfocused, and that made it impossible to affect the world around him with the Force. He stopped, consulted his Master, and tried again. This time, he tried to attune more heavily to the Force, so he could borrow some of its strength and change its flow much easier. He also concentrated his control, in order to manage to defy gravity and lift the vase. Despite all that, he sensed it was not going to be enough. He thought to ask the Force to allow him to change its flow and move the vase around, and waited patiently hoping the Force would trully aid him. He moved his hand and the Force moved along with him, flowing and moving towards his target. It flowed with such elegance, and seemed willing to help Adar lift the vase. Once it made contact with the vase, it seemed to envelope it, and as Adar lifted his hand, the vase slowly followed suit. He even managed to rotate it a bit. He was impressed, astounded that such a thing was even possible. And Master Vassa was pleased to witness this.

[ End Control lvl 1 - 459 words total ]

"Well done Adar. You grow more connected to the Force everyday. More powerful as well."
"I got the best Master to thank for that."

"A Lightsaber. A Jedi's second best friend. Some of you Padawans may have seen Knights or Masters in lightsaber combat before. Know that, while it may seem simple, many hours of practice are behind every single successful Jedi. For in a lightsaber duel, a single mistake could and is often fatal. Your skills with a saberTrain well Padawans, and may the Force be with you all."

Jedi Master Jade Winter's speech was well received by the Padawans. Most of them were excited to begin their lightsaber training, often caught up in fantasies of the legendary Jedi of the Galaxy, such as Masters Yoda, Mace Windu and Obi-wan, as well as Luke and Anakin Skywalker themselves. Adar did not share this sentiment. Not only had he no idea of the history of the Jedi prior to him joining, but he understood that to get lost in fantasy would not help his training. He would approach this as he would every aspect of his Jedi training. With diligence, and respect.

The Padawans were then instructed by their masters on how to use the training sabers, as well as the basics. How not to cut themselves, the 6 hit areas of the body. Finally, they were shown the basic lightsaber form, Shii-Cho. While simplistic, it was the older and thus the basis for all the other forms. And with that, everyone begun training.

[ Begin Lightsaber Combat - 100 words required ]

Adar spent many days practicing both his handling of the weapon, as well as the stance of Shii-Cho. Getting used to the weapon, as well as learning how to handle it properly, proved more difficult that Adar initially thought. The training saber was far lighter than it appeared, and that made Adar overestimate the force he needed in order to strike. It took a week, but he managed to master... not hurting himself. He did find targeted striking much easier. He consistently landed his strikes in any of the zone his Master requested. After a couple of days, he felt comfortable to practice his stance. At first, he trained alone, making sure his muscle memory got used to form I. Afterwards, he trained with his Master the basics of sword fighting, such as blocking, parrying, and finding openings in your opponent's mistakes. For an entire month, Adar honed his skills, and occasionally he would sense within the Force itself the movements of his Master, and with that he would reach out to strike within milliseconds of her movement. After a perfect spar with Master Vassa, Adar was deemed ready to show his skills in the lightsaber basics. He faced off against another Padawan, a female zabrak named Silis'Da, in front of a few Masters in order to evaluate their progress. Both in Shii-Cho they ignited their training sabers, Adar striked first, getting quickly blocked by his opponent, who retaliated with a low strike. Adar dodged it, and grazed her left shoulder. Her counter attacked was blocked, but Adar's counterstike was parried and hit him in his right side. They went back and forth for a while, until the Masters degreed the duel over. After a short consideration, they decreed that both Adar and Silis'Da had proven mastery over the basics, their Masters were congratulated for their Padawans progress.

[ End Lightsaber Combat - 308 words total ]

Adar and Silis'Da bowed towards each other, as well as towards the Masters. Adar was proud to have made it, though the road to success was certaintly not easy. He could still improve, though he would not neglect his other studies to do so.

This time, Adar was to be tested in what he had learned so far. An evaluation, though necessary if he truly wanted to continue his training further. He had to show his devotion to the Jedi Coaltion, its goal and teachings, as well as prove he had truly learnt the skills he had picked up over the last months. His Master was to assess whether he was ready to continue his training, and was more than eager to do so.

Master Vassa asked Adar a series of questions regarding the Jedi, their role, code of conduct and their mission. Questions like "What is the mission of the Jedi", "What do you hope to achieve in here", and other questions meant to test the will of the Padawans. But what she wanted to see out of her astute Padawan was control. Control over his raging emotions. He was, after all, a 20 year old and was filled to the brim with them. Adar answered truthfully, declaring his unending resolve to make the galaxy a safer and more peaceful place. He did not speak with many colors in his tone and voice, but instead in a calm, collected way. After all he had seen and all he had learnt the Sith were capable to do, he would do anything to stop them. Even if it cost him his life. His demeanor did not surpise the Master, she knew her Padawan was strong spirited, and trully commited. She was trully proud. What was left now was to see his power in the Force and in the saber.

For the evaluation of his Force powers, they both sat in meditation. Adar was to move a few objects with the Force around while his Master would try to get them out of his Control. Adar relaxed every atom of his being, until only the Force remained. Through it, he could see the objects as clearly as if they were right in front of him, and he reached out through the Force to move them. Like a boat on the open sea, his reach extended and lifted the objects, a tablet, a cup and a booklet. The moment he did that he felt his Master reach out as well with the Force and attept to distract and take these objects from him. Adar was able to keep up for a lot more with his Master than she thought. Once she found his limits, she stopped the test. Adar could sense his Master's pride in him before he even opened his eyes.

To finish off, Master and Padawan dueled. Adar took position in a Shii-Cho stance, and Master Vassa opposed him with a Makashi form, the counter to Shii-Cho. This was of course on purpose, to see how skilled had Adar become with a saber. Only if he was fully challenged would he display all he had learned. The two spared for about thirty minutes, before the Master called it off, being satisfied with Adar's display of skill.

After all that, Adar was proud to have grown so much. Not only in power of course, though it was nice to see he was no longer a defenseless civilian. The thing he was trully proud of was how much he had grown as a person. No longer was he a kid on the streets of Naboo, working to stay alive. He felt like an adult doing his dream job, like he trully belonged here. And all this growth was reflected in his skills and connection to the Force, which was now a lot deeper than at the start, but Adar knew this was only the tip of the iceberg.

"Congratulations, Adar. Your progress is excellent. I believe it is time for you to grow your connection to the Force."

As Adar had thought. The tip of the iceberg. Let's go deeper.

"First thing tomorrow Master. I must say I am exhausted."
"I suppose that is true. Get some rest."

Adar sat in deep meditation. His Master's voice giving him guidance, and helping him focus. Soon, all he could perceive was the Force. An endless ocean stretching into infinity. Adar was situated in this sea that sometimes flowed and moved, and other times was as calm as the void of space. He wanted to attune further with the Force, yet he wasn't sure where to begin. To go from distant echoes to this was easy to understand. But how could he go deeper? How could he go closer? The secret, as Master Vassa said, was to do the opposite. To distance yourself from the Force, and everything. To become less in the Force, would make you more.

This sort of logic did not make sense for a while, but over the course of the next few minutes, Adar would focus less on trying to sense the Force. What he was doing felt like wandering around without any goal, and just admiring your surroundings. He then took a deep breath, and started to become like the Force. Calm yet always in motion, constantly flowing yet in a calm pattern. In doing this, Adar managed to grow closer to the Force. The Force begun to move through him, as more and more of his barriers melted away. He felt more and more connected with It, enveloped by it. It was weird. Adar thought for a moment that the whole universe had curved around and was aggressively hugging him. But aside from all that, he felt stronger. Like paths and abilities previously unavailable were now open, should he choose to follow them.

He slowly rose back up from his meditation, feeling different than before. He looked down at his hands, and could feel the Force flowing stronger within him.

"So this is a simulation?"
"Indeed, but things can and will hurt you. Your body will react the same as it would in real life. So don't treat it differently."

Master and Padawan were currently in the jungles of Felucia. Or rather, a simulation of it, seeing it was in Imperial Space. This was a planet in the Permian Trade root, and thus the battlefield for many battles, mostly during the Clone Wars. It was also the place where Jedi Master Aayla Secura was executed by the Clones during Order 66. But what was most important for Adar and Master Vassa was the dangerous wildlife, along with a pirate outpost. They were walking in the dense jungle filled with many colorful plants that Adar could never have imagined existed. On top of that, he could sense a few animals in the vicinity, but had no idea if they were predators or not. As the walked, Master Vassa explained today's lesson.

"You know Adar, that the Force connects everything, living or not. The actions of every living cause ripples in the Force, with violence and death causing the strongest ones. But actions don't happen instantly. There is time between the cause and the result. Time to act. Using the Force, you can sense immidiate danger and act to avoid it." Adar was baffled.

"How is this even possible? If I am unaware of any danger, how can I sense it?"

The Master responded calmly. "You may not see it. But the Force will. And the Force is your ally. Just as a Ranger warns one another of danger, so too does the Force. Constantly. You just have to be willing and able to listen." Adar wanted to object again, but Vassa stopped him before he could with a stern look. "Think of it this way. Imagine the Force as this forest. You,me and everything else exists in it. As we move, as we fight, as we speak, the trees, the plants, the grass, get distorted. And because the roots of most plants intersect, those disruptions echo throught the forest. One tree warns another, and they all react to us."

After his Master finished explained, Adar said nothing, but moved towards a tree and put his hand on it. He focused on it with the Force, and saw that indeed, its roots were extensive and mingled with those of others. How weird that plants and trees would be more connected than the sentients of the galaxy. He was now ready to start. "Alright. I understand Master. Let's begin"

Adar closed his eyes and focused his senses. He slowly attuned himself to the Force, an experience that was by now very familiar. Through the Force, he could see so many things. He sensed every plant and animal in this dense jungle. Even if something in here wanted to hurt him, or worse, how could he make it out? He started to become nervous, but he did his best to not lose his composure. Then, it happened.

A flash in his mind, or perhaps a slow whisper reaching its cresendo. Was it his Master's voice? He couldn't tell and he had not time to tell. He dodged to the right and pulled out his vibrosword, slashing the thing that was inches away from him. It looked to him to be a large feline, but he wasn't sure of its species. He turned towards Master Vassa. It looked like Adar had made it, but it wasn't good enough. The animal got too close before he aknowledged it. Adar agreed, and went back to trying with resentment. He was having a hard time and wasn't enjoying the danger this exercise required.

The next fifteen minutes went by uneventful. Eventually Adar started heading towards his Master to ask her to stop the simulation. He would continue tommorow. As he took the first step, it hit him again. A whisper as familiar as his own thoughts, warning him of something fast approaching from his right. Adar turned to see what it was, and then it hit him. His right leg was hit by blaster fire, causing him to tumble to the ground. He would have stayed to the ground, but that tingle in the back of his mind rang again. The whispers were clear, more shots incoming. Adar was for the first time unable to control his emotions. Fear, adrenaline, desperation. What happened next however surprised him. That feeling, that sense of danger became so overwhelming that it actually calmed him. He managed to collect himself, and got his blaster out. Those whisper, that sixth sense that he could now identify as coming from the Force itself, kept pinging as shots were fired towards him. Adar fired a few shots himself from his blaster, but after a while, Master Vassa incapacitated the pirates attacking Adar, and walked content towards Adar.

"You handled that better that I expected. Sorry to put you through that. There was no other way for you to understand what it felt like."
"You could have helped a bit sooner, but I understand Master. It wasn't easy for me. I am not sure how I even made it out with just one blaster to the leg."
Vassa smiled. "Your faith in the Force. At the end you listened to it and trusted it to guide you. That is why you triumphed today."
"Barerly triumphed. It was you Master that stopped the attackers."
She did not respond to that. Instead, she patted him on the back. She ended the simulation.
"It is dinner time. Let's head out." Adar nodded. A warm plate of food was just what he needed.

The last few weeks had been pretty standard. Adar was practicing his saber and Force skills, attending Force meditation and learning more about the Jedi Coalition. Of course, there was the occasional mission he went to, but it never lasted more than two days. On top of all of that, he was getting to know more and more of his fellow padawans, as long as most of the Jedi Masters and Knights. But today was different.

"Today Adar we are going to try to deepen your connection with the Force."

Adar was not looking forward to this. Force powers and abilities? He could handle. But getting a closer bond with the Force? That was hard for the young man. Getting stronger in the Force seemed impossible. He had seen how the Sith grew powerful by brute Force and will power. But this was not the way of the Jedi. The Force had been a great ally to him, but Adar did not understand why or how. He had managed incredible things, but he still had walls up. Concerns, insecurities, fears. "These are blocking you from connecting further with the Force. You must let them go." said his Master, Master Vassa.

Adar felt a deep shame. He nodded, and did his best to follow what his Master had taught him.

[ Begin Force Level up | Level 3 - 300 words required ]

The familiar feeling of meditation quickly gripped Adar. It was as easy as breathing to go into and out of it, and Adar had become familiar with this tranced out state of being. He felt the loving embrace of the Force surround him, along with the peace it brought. So far so good. Now, it was time to go deeper. He needed to focus. Focus on himself, the Force and nothing else. Despite having done this so many times, today it was a difficult endeavor. This was mostly due to the fact that today was not a routine session for the young Jedi padawan. The fact that he was attempting to increase his skill and connection brought out a deep fear of failure he had ever since he first became a padawan. A fear that increased over the last few weeks due to a mission he had undertaken, and was now magnified tenfold thanks to the Force. He wondered for a moment if the Force was testing him, or perhaps was toying with him. Despite all of that, Adar could still feel the flow of the Force, as well as his connection with It. He tried to "go deeper" in the Force, but achieved nothing. He tried visualizing himself swimming further down, or his horizon expanding, yet nothing worked. Soon enough his fears overwhelmed him, his body now trembling. He stopped his meditation.

[PAUSE Force Level up]

Tears had formed in his eyes.
"I... can't do this right now. It was all so intense and I... the Force seemed to test me and I... failed."
Master Vassa remained calm. She was a bit annoyed, that her padawan would give up so easily. But her frustration stemmed from the immense potential Adar had. She would try to encourage him one time. Maybe he could still succeed.
"Padawan Adar. If you need a moment to collect yourself and set your feelings in order, do so. There is no rush here. You have made astounding progress in your time here. You have achived skills that have taken others years to master. Do not be afraid of some setbacks. And most certaintly do not be afraid of the Force. It will guide you, not try to trick or hurt you. That is of course if you do not attempt to hurt it first."
Adar was gazing off in the distance. He was fully aware and had listened to every word his Master had told him, but all he could respond with was a "Yes Master." He returned to his meditation, Master Vassa did as well. She was curious to see if he would find success, and hoped that he would. He was her best student. If he gave up, she was the one who would have truly failed.

[RESUME Force Level up]

Fear. Adar was always afraid of failure. Afraid the Force would reject him, afraid that he would fail the Jedi, afraid that he would be a burden. Despite all of the good things that happened and the warmth he had received, it wasn't enough to break those fears. They just lurked in the background, waiting to return. And Adar had just learned that in order to connect more with the Force, he had to have his feeling in order. Not suppressed as the old Jedi Order taught. In harmony. Today, he would begin with fear. He focused on this scary feeling. It was like getting stabbed. As he tried to understand his fears, he started seeing something. A vivid scene from his recent past. His fight with Kressara. Except the outcome was different. He lost, and thousands got hurt. While initially he wanted this to stop, Adar eventually realized that he had to accept this and every other bad possible outcome. He didn't need to live in fear because of failure. Failure was always a possibility. The important thing was to always try. As he relaxed and let his barriers down, he could feel the Force beat stronger. It was more clear and felt easier to access and use. The more his fears went away, the stronger his connection became. It felt incredible. He felt his Control and Sense abilities become easier to use. The same for his other abilities. Feeling satisfied, he returned to consciousness.

"Well done Adar."
"Thank you, but how... ah yes, you were monitoring my progress through the Force."
"No, it is written all over your face. Your satisfaction and balance that is." she laughed proudly. Adar did as well.

A young padawan was in meditation in one of the chambers of Koda station. Normally he would be along with his Master, but every once in a while, he liked to go about it solo. Just him and the Force. The calm and peace this meditation offered was beyond anything Adar could have imagined before becoming a padawan. He was unfortunately interrupted out of his trance by his Master.

"Hello Adar. Ready for another try at Life Sense?" she then noticed that he was meditating. "I am sorry for interrupting you. I'll come back later."
"No, Master it is alright. After failing last time, I want to get this right."
"You did not fail, you were unfocused. Stay focused this time, and trust in the Force. I will be going somewhere within the temple. Come find me, and I will know you have acquired the ability"
Adar nodded, and bowed before his Master left.

[ Begin Life Sense - 100 words required ]

Adar begun his focus. His Master's glow in the Force was all too familiar to him, so he would not have any problem recognizing it. On Koda station however, there were many Force Users, all with their own intense presence in the Force. He slowly begun to look, letting the Force guide him. It felt like jumping into the sea and letting its currents move you along, occasionally swimming as to not drift away. It took a while, as Adar initially had a hard time controlling the flow of the Force as he moved through it, but eventually he found Master Vassa sitting in the Jedi Archives. After getting up, he made sure to thank the Force for its assistance, as well as its guidance. After all, all he did was focus on the person he wanted to find. It was the Force that connected all things and did most of the work.

Before he left, he decided to try again. Not with Master Vassa in mind, but with... one of the Sith he had encountered before. Once again, he focused on the Force and its flow, letting himself be guided while making sure not to go too much off track. Since the distance was great between them, what he could infer about her location was that she was within Sith Space. While it wasn't much, he felt impressed that he could even single out the corner of the galaxy she was in. Perhaps because she was a Force user, or perhaps because their interaction was intense.

He wanted to check if she was still alive. Despite her being a Sith, Adar felt that the good within her had not been snuffed out... yet. But he felt than she would oppose him still if they met again. With these thoughts, he went to find his Master.
