Ranah had once again met the Jedi Knight Pellan in one of the many training gyms and obstacle courses within the Jedi enclave, she came in to find the Jedi Knight standing watching the others run their courses. At first Pellan did not acknowledge Ranah’s presence, but after a moment the woman turned around and greeted her student.

Today’s lesson will be a bit different than what you are used to, come, watch the padawans run the course

Ranah stood next to her instructor and watched as Padawans ran, some leaping at heights that did not seem physically possible. One such padawan leapt several times to get to different heights and points through the course it was not physically doable But Ranah knew the Padawans used the Force to do this. It left her amazed. Pellan must have seen the look on her face she smiled and said.

This is what you will learn today, With the Force you can control the air currents around you, with a nudge you can leap to greater heights by watching these padawans do it you see it is possible, but to be successful hinges on keeping your mind clear of what you think you already know. It won’t be easy but once you get the gist of it and practice it will become second nature to you

She gestured with a hand to follow, Ranah did.
Before Ranah stood three platforms at varying heights she looked to Pellan who gave her an encouraging nod.
=Begin Force Jump 300 words=
Ranah stood before the first platform she closed her eyes, began to clear her mind of any distractions, the encounter on Nar Shadaa , her quest to find her siblings, her insecurities on her place among the Jedi , she pushed it all aside. She refused to not let her mind be cluttered with junk. She breathed in deep and slowly let it out before drawing on the Force. She had come to feel the Force as a companion.

She eyed the first platform, it looked to be about a ten foot jump. She jumped. She did not expect to get it on the first try, again she jumped trying to will the air around her to lift her, again nothing happened. She tried a third time and again failed. She was beginning to feel ridiculous and the frustration began to rise within her. She took in another deep breath and let it out slowly before trying for a fourth time. She stopped. She was not getting it, in fact her efforts looked like someone trying to jump to get that elusive jar of cookies. Ranah indeed felt stupid but Instead of expressing frustration or even an outburst of anger for her failure, she stood there. She remembered the words of the Jedi texts. “Failure was one of the best teachers one could have” She would learn from her failure.

She closed her eyes again trying harder to clear her mind, to let the Force wash over her, flowing through her to guide her. She looked at the first platform again and just jumped, With the Force she willed the air current beneath her to lift her. She had done it. She landed sloppily on the platform. Slowly she stood up, she looked at the second platform, another ten feet up from where she was. She jumped nudging the air around her to lift her to the next platform. Like the first one she landed on her stomach. She slowly stood up. Finally she looked at the last platform this one was fifteen feet from her current positon. She let out a breath and then once more lept she nudged the air current which pushed her to the last platform. She did not land on it, in fact another foot it would have been the smoothest landing. Instead she hung on the last platform. She had fallen short she ended up grabbing on to it with her hands. She brought herself to the last platform. She had done it, but just barely.

The effort was exhausting it was always exhausting when using the Force in a new way, She knew with practice she would get better at this exercise. She could not expect to launch herself perfectly on the first real attempt. She would meditate on what she learned from her successes and her mistakes and she would practice this exercise faithfully.

End Force Jump App 482/300
Ranah looked down as Pellan told her to jump down, she was exhausted from getting up there in the end she climbed down with help. In her mind she was already forming a training plan she would practice with the first platform until she had it down perfectly then slowly introduce the second one, and then the third. Pellan was pleased at her progress, she had told Ranah to get some rest for she would need it. As Pellan departed to report Ranah’s progress to the Jedi Council.

Ranah had spent time in meditation in the Oasis where she began her journey in the mysteries of the Force. She often came here to meditate and reflect and as of late she had much to reflect on. She needed guidance she had not spoken to Pellan yet, she had no reason to not trust her , but she needed the guidance of a Master. Pellan entered the Oasis in silence and sat down across from her as she often did. Ranah came back to herself and looked at the Jedi who had taken her under her wing.

Am I disturbing you?” Pellan asked gently

Ranah shook her head side to side. If Pellan believed her she did not say. Pellan knew Ranah had alot on her mind but she would not push it. She wasn’t her Master after all.

Are you ready to learn?” She asked

Ranah shook her head up and down, she was always ready to resume her journey in the mysteries

Pellan nodded and then began the lesson.

This technique is a critical one, especially when battling another Force Adept whether it be a Fallen Jedi or a Sith. A force user can invade your mind, can alter your perceptions, as well as cause you to fumble at a critical moment like deactivate your Lightsaber at the worst possible moment.” She let it sink in before she continued “What I will teach you is how to erect a mental barrier so that if a Sith or Fallen Jedi try to invade your mind or make you fumble that their attempts will be in vain. You need to be unreadable, and since there is no instruction I can give other than practice I will invade your mind I want you to try to push me out

=Begin Force Shield 300 Words=

No sooner had she closed her eyes that she felt the intrusion on her mind. The mental intrusion was not oppressive it was just there. Waiting. Ranah stretched out with the Force, gathering its life giving energy unto herself. She could feel the Force flowing around her and through her. She asserted her will to fortify her mind but still Pellan’s influence was within her mind. She pushed her will to drive her out but Pellan was still there, nothing had changed. Pellan withdrew, allowing Ranah to gather herself before they went again, and like the first time Ranah’s mind was offering Pellan no resistance. Ranah’s mind was an open door. With each attempt Ranah’s concentration was more intense, her focus deeper all with the same result. She had visualized walls surrounding her mind but it was futile.

Pause Force Shield 138/300
They took a break, Pellan could feel the anger in Ranah rising. Not anger , Frustration which was if not dealt with a pre-cursor to anger. She let Ranah gather herself before she spoke

I think your approach is not correct, which is ok, remember failure is one of the greatest teachers, you are gathering the Force to yourself but that is all, you are not employing the Force to act as a shield. I think if you were to do this, you would have better success

Ranah thought on it but said nothing other “I’m ready to go again

Pellan nodded

Pellan touched Ranah’s mind like before, and like before nothing had changed. Ranah perceived the intrusion, but had once again gather the Force, its infinite energy flowing through her and absorbing it into her energy field. She once again with great determination asserted her will, employing the energy to fortify her to shield her from outside influences. She did Not visual images in her mind only her will and the Force. She concentrated harder allowing the Force to work its will on Ranah’s mental command by using the level of control she possessed. Something was different for Ranah, she could feel Pellan’s influence withdrawing from her mind. Pellan began to feel the resistance from the Jedi Trainee. The more Ranah employed her will the stronger the mental barrier became until Pellan had to push back through the Force to try to push through her mental barrier and re-assert her own will. Ranah who no longer felt the intrusion smiled and the briefest of moments her concentration lapsed allowing Pellan to push back into her mind.

Ranah who realized what happened, quickly set her focus back to the task at hand, and had once more driven Pellan from her mind. Ranah could feel the senior Jedi push back harder but Ranah’s barrier held. Finally Pellan withdrew and let go of the hold on the Force. Ranah did the same.

Sweat was pouring from Ranah’s brow she didnt know she was soaked in sweat, and as always exhausted. This exercise was to date the most difficult to perform. It had taken all of Ranah’s energy both mental and physical. Her workout regime was getting longer and longer, she would need to meditate and practice of everything she’s learned she would need to make sure she had this technique down to where it was second nature it would one day save her life. Of that Ranah was certain.

=Start Level 4 App=

Ranah started the workout in the Oasis meditating on the Force, she drew upon the Force to sense the life all around her. The Force was in all things. She could feel and see the life in the Oasis through the Force she did not need her eyes. She let their life energy refresh her, like a cool shower on a hot day. She had always felt calm and centered when in places like the Oasis. This exercise was one of the ones she did multiple times a day in a sense she communed with the Force by connecting herself to all life that shared the Oasis, the Force was in all things. She would often try to push her perceptions beyond the Oasis but at the degree of development her senses her was often impossible at her current stage of development but it did not slow her resolve to stretch out beyond her ability.

Ranah would next continue the workout with the platforms, located in one of the gyms. Every time she practiced she saw improvement in her efforts, she jumped and used the Force to control the air currents to lift her to land safely on her feet on the first 10 foot platform, she would'nt look down, her eyes on the platform as she then another leap another 10 feet had the same effect with the safe landing. She had been finding controlling the currents around her to be getting easier. Even the 15 foot platform was simpler to her now. She landed a bit shakily on her feet but she at least had made it. She then jumped off, controlling the air currents to augment her descent. She landed on her feet a bit hard. This exercise she repeated a couple of times getting more fluent with her ascent in every attempt her descent she still landed hard. She pushed the pain in her shins aside as she continued her workout.

When she had completed that part of her workout , she went to the dueling arena where a training droid was waiting. She unclipped her training lightsaber and brought the blade to life. She had become fluent in the sequences she learned, and even expanded to learn all of form 1. She was still shaky in handling the weapon something experience would cure. Her swordsmanship was sloppy and amateur at best, but with each spar she lasted just a little bit longer than the previous duel. She sparred with the training droid as she remained opened in the Force, her danger sense aiding her in the effort. Her danger sense was developing faster and more sensitive than her swordplay. It wasn’t until the last round of the spar session that she matched the droid strike for strike and did not lose her weapon once through the entire duel. The sparring droid came at her with different attacks and sequences all of which Ranah was able to block with sequences of her own each one executed with more confidence than the previous session. During the spar Ranah had successfully erected her mental barriers she knew the droid would not use the Force on her but she had to get used to dueling with the barrier up. She struggled with it, each time she was able to maintain it a little longer, though normally would cause a lapse in concentration and often would be struck and lose her weapon. Each sting and burn reminded her she had much to learn.

Ranah powered her training saber down, she was sore, tired, mentally exhausted. Sweat covered her, but she was not done yet. She would end the workout the same way she began it, in the Oasis meditating on the Force. Using the Life she felt to let it refresh her. She had much to meditate upon.

Ranah sat in the Oasis, with her bad leg stretched out, a result of the events on Nar Shadda, she had not been far removed from those events as she had a face wound that would most likely scar. She spent alot more time here centering herself, communing with nature as she often did when she needed a "reset" she always knew she was a warrior but never did she dream she could fight so aggressively , let alone shoot a hostage granted the pistol was set to stun and the intended effect did happen and in the end had saved the poor man's life. The Dark sider she faced was equally fierce, at least she thought she was a devotee of the dark side. She would be spending more time she was certain...
=Begin Control Level 2 700 Word Req=

She sat and closed her eyes and as she slowed her breathing to a measured calm, she emptied her mind of all her worries, troubles, doubts, anything that would distract her from communing with the Force. She stretched out with her perceptions. The currents of the Force swirled around her she could perceive them, even as she turned her focus inward concentrating on the energy that flowed within her. It was not a swirling eddy of energy that flowed in many different directions, Since she had learned to control the energy within herself it had turned into a mostly unified river of energy that flowed through her, and within her. She had noticed a difference in her ability to use the Force since gaining a level of control. Here she would concentrate on deepening that level of control, to increase her proficiency on being able to control the Force for longer periods as well as use it to learn abilities that could one day save her life.

Her energy field was feeding off the energy within her, while the energy within her fed her energy field, it almost seemed like a paradox to the Jedi apprentice it was part of the cycle. She deepened her focus , asserting her will to be closer to the Force, and the Force rewarded her resolve. She perceived something new within herself. She knew it was always there but never had perceived her vitals in the manner in which the Force had now revealed to her. She could do more than feel her heart beating and her blood flowing through her. She perceived these things almost like controls or gauges within her. Her vital signs, to her seemed possible that by simply using her will she could bring her blood pressure up or down, or increase or decrease her heart rate. With her will she nudged her heart to slow down its rhythmic thumping. The heart did not even pause or slow down, She might as well be speaking a completely alien language for all the good it would do. She was not discouraged. She kept on her experimentation . The knowledge to perform this feat was still beyond her, Before it did not even seem possible, while she could not control her vitals at will at least not yet, she felt like she was a step closer to being able to. She would be determined to one day be successful.

She perceived the cells within her, but only vaguely she knew they were there but to perceive them in any detail would require an even greater level of control but she had also wondered if she could nudge the building blocks of life within her could they work in concert to accelerate healing in her own body? This she would need to explore further. She had a feeling that influencing her cells along with other factors like heart rate, blood pressure, was a step in the right direction of using the Force to speed up physical healing, but like being able to go into a hibernation trance the knowledge was beyond her for the moment. She knew these abilities were there but they were out of reach for her.

She had been fixated on healing herself and the possibility of a hibernation trance had given her a lapse in concentration which threatened to undo the new level of perception she felt within herself as it became difficult to maintain what she was doing. She reasserted her focus before she lost it completely, fortunately she was able to hold on to the new depth. Sweat was now forming on the brow of the former GA Special Forces Operative, she had begun to strain herself mentally, as she had been drawing on the Force harder than she could recall. She risked losing this deepened connection within herself by these idle fixations. She was trying to do too much. She was determined to maintain this deeper level of control and like everything else she would follow the currents of the Force.

She turned her perceptions even further inward. She could perceive the presence of the impulses that made her nerves and nerve endings. Much like the cells within her she was vaguely aware of them, With a nudge could she totally turn off the pain receptors in her body or make them more sensitive which would only increase pain. She wanted to make the attempt, the more she thought about it the more it seemed to be a unwise course of action for the present. She could feel her concentrating fading. She was not distracted but her ability to maintain the level of focus was diminishing as fatigue set into her body. She could perceive her body as a complex machine, so many variables to change for differing effects. This would give her new avenues of exploration, but those explorations would have to wait as she couldn’t maintain the focus she needed to perceive her body, the Jedi apprentice was utterly spent.

Ranah slowly opened her eyes as she came back to herself. She ached physically and mentally she was exhausted. It had not been a failure, She had been able to hold her level of control considerably longer than she had in her previous mediation and practice sessions, but never in those times did she perceive what the Force revealed to her awareness at just how complex her body was. The Force had given her a new depth of perception on the complexities of the human body. With practice she could maintain that connection longer, and with knowledge she could even learn and maybe be successful in the feats she had tried to perform. Could the same be applied to outer control? Could a stronger level of control improve her sword technique, with it she could be a more competent swordsman. This would be another thing she would have to look into. The possibilities were many , as the realization of new avenues opening to her through the Force. She only had to apply herself and nothing she sought to accomplish could be denied her. She had much to meditate upon, but also she needed rest.

Ranah sat in her room on Koda station, she would be leaving for Kashyyyk soon, she had been recloated there they had told her for a change of scenery but she suspected it would be because she would have more there to train her as the Enclave was also an academy. She understood and with Pellan going on her mission the nature of which she did not tell Ranah, she would need someone to take over her training. She had been on Kashyyyk a couple of times for assignments when she was in the GA Special Forces. She trusted in their wisdom and until the time came would throw herself into studying and healing.

=Begin Accelerated Healing App 400 Words=

Ranah pushed aside the physical discomfort and cleared her mind as she reached out with the Force. She had been doing a lot of studying as she recovered from her injuries. She drew on the infinite energy that bound the galaxy together and connected every living being to each other. She let the currents of the Force wash through her as she sat with eyes closed her leg propped up.

She turned her focus inward, it had become a bit easier to perceive the various things within herself. She was aware of her body functions performing normally. She deepened her focus going deeper within herself as she had a specific target. Her ankle had been her worst injury she had endured during her fight with the Sith apprentice. She intensified her concentration probing deeper into herself. Her body felt for the most part mended, as if she was reading a bunch of pressure gauges, her persistence paid off after a few moments as she could see the injury through the Force.

Through the Force the injury was like a stain on a white carpet. The injury had mended some from the time spent in the bacta tank, but it had a ways to go. Ranah had been studying the ability to accelerate healing within herself. She could sense the severity of the injury, she now had to control her bloodflow and the cells within her, as well as the bone itself with the help from the Force. She asserted her will and and devoted all her concentration on this one area. She knew it would be some time before any results would be felt, she sensed no change, this exercise was taxing and as impatience began to mount the effort became extremely more difficult. In the end result nothing was happening.

She came back to herself and steadied her breathing, pushing away the building frustration that she could feel threatening to bubble to the surface. That would not help her. She needed to be patient. She needed to remain level headed, failure was the best teacher. She had been those things but she had to be patient. She sat there for several long moments, breathing in and out, letting the worry and stress just fall off her like a load of bricks on her back. Only when she felt she was at peace and calm would she try again.

She closed her eyes again and drew on the Force, she turned inward pouring her concentration and her focus on the ankle. There it was in her perceptions still the ever present stain. It definitely stood out to her. Using the level of control she possessed she guided her cells and increased the circulation to her legs, increasing the blood flow to her injured foot and even pressed her will on the bone itself. Again nothing perceptible occurred. Ranah would not let that deter her as she continued to press her will on her body. The change was slow and gradual, but she could feel through the Force a change was occurring.

Slowly she could feel the bone starting to mend, the fracture slowly closing in on itself. She would not let emotion distract her now but she also knew she would not be able to maintain this for very long, she would remain stedfast as long as she could keep it up. She kept her mind empty as the Force continued to mend on the fractured ankle. Even the outward swelling and bruising seemed to have lessen. The swelling diminishing, the dark purple bruise in that area began to lighten in color. She continued to manage to control the circulation and the other elements of the healing process until finally she could not maintain it any longer.

Slowly Ranah came back to herself. She had been right, she had failed the first time because of her impatience, her mind was stilled but it made no difference. Patience was key, and the proof was before her , while the wound was not fully healed she had through her efforts improved it. Had she been in a bacta tank or had a patch on would she be able to progress even more with the aid of the healing agents? One thing was for sure, she had been successful. She could not maintain the feat for very long but long enough to notice a change an improvement. She would have much to meditate on as she would practice this feat with due diligence.

Ranah had been devoting a lot of her time and training into bettering her skills in the Jedi Arts. Today’s workout would have her run an obstacle course outside, she knew it would be designed to test her in everything she’s learned so far. It reminded her of her military training, and the idea of that brought a smile to her lips. She looked at herself as she often did in the mirror in the refresher. She adjusted her hair into a workable ponytail. Dressed in a tanktop and camoflague pants she had her training lightsaber clipped to her belt. In the last couple weeks she had gathered components that would serve as parts to construct her own lightsaber. She had thought about constructing one for a time but whenever she would pursue it she felt the Force holding her back as if a subtle “not yet” instead she devoted her time and energy into her other skills. Today she would be tested on them all.
=Start Force Level 5 500 Words Req=

Life was everywhere, Kashyyyk was bursting at the seams with it, and as such Ranah could feel the life in the surrounding forest in the past she would consciously stretch out with her feelings to feel the life around her. One thing she noticed right away was she made no such conscious choice. She had sub-consciously stretched out, she felt connected to everything around her. She had also noticed that the radius she could perceive the wildlife was further than she had ever stretched out. It was not very far but it was just a bit beyond her immediate area. The equivalent to stretching her senses to the next room, if she were inside. It had taken Ranah back a bit, but she was not alarmed. It was a sign that she was growing in strength and control in the Force, it encouraged her. Her diligent training paying off.

Ranah looked to the north, she took a breath as she began her run into the forest the path had been clearly marked the way to go was clear to the former GA soldier. The first obstacle approached her in the form of a large gap that spanned about ten feet and was about twenty feet deep, without even blinking Ranah drew upon the Force and leapt from one side to the other (Force Jump) and had landed with ease, as she continued her run without missing a beat. She continued on the forest path, Ranah could still feel the life swarming all around her as a spherical droid floated into the path from behind, Ranah’s danger sense prickled in her mind, it gave her just enough time to avoid a blaster bolt from the training droid. Ranah stopped in her tracks and turned around to face the droid, while drawing and igniting her training lightsaber. The droid fired again, this time she brought her lightsaber up to deflect the bolt which had gone wild. She charged the droid , feigning a a low attack but when she brought the lightsaber to a higher attack the droid float higher out of her reach. She swung again, as her blade only met the air. She tried to stab the droid in it’s “eye” as it charged in her direction. The training blade struck the target where it would cause the droid to power down its training program and go into a passive state, but not before she took a stun bolt in her upper arm. She cried out indignantly as she could feel the burning and numbing in her arm. She pushed the pain aside, as she continued on the course. What surprised Ranah was her danger sense went off while she could feel her life sense ability, Using other abilities while keeping her life sense active was a feat she had barely been able to achieve but she had been maintaining it longer than she ever had. She had resumed her run on the path navigating obstacles that involved her using the Force to jump over and had dealt with another lightsaber training droid. The arm still numb from the stun bolt, she had little trouble in disabling the droid her danger sense had ebbed at her mind but what she did not expect was it did not fade after dispatching the second droid, but intensified. The answer revealed itself as she returned to the clearing. Where to cross to the finish line stood a tall Wookie, his green lightsaber blade humming with life.

Ranah came to a stop as she with a little effort raised her mental shielding (Force Shield) and reignited her own training lightsaber. They charged each other but it would be Ranah who would begin the spar. She opened the duel with sequences from the most basic of lightsaber forms Form I , the Wookie blocking or dodging each attack with ease who had answered with an attack of his own. Like the Wookie Ranah blocked his attack with ease, instructors who were watching the spar noted that Ranah’s stance, form and technique was tight. They continued to be impressed with the constant improvement she displayed in her swordsmanship. She started her next series of attacks with a sequence in Form I but then in the middle smoothly changed it up to Form IV the Ataru form. Something she had not been able to do in any of the prior sessions. The sudden switch took the Wookie back and he began to give ground as Ranah advanced with strike after strike never aiming at the same location twice. Her expression wore the look of determination, The Wookie had tried to use the Force to make her drop her weapon or cause a momentary distraction but he soon realized it was futile as Ranah’s mental shielding still was up and unwavering, she had not been able to multitask very well in her abilities and it seemed she was showing significant improvement. The tactic had cost the Wookie, as it had momentarily distracted him, Ranah who was deep in the currents of the Force had relieved the Wookie of his weapon, causing him to growl in frustration. One of the instructors went to end the duel as Ranah was clearly the victor but another instructor had stayed the first one’s hand wanting to see how this duel would play out.

Ranah had executed a forward roll as her danger sense once more prickled at her mind, as she saw the incoming rock the Wookie had called on the Force to hurl at the former soldier. In her roll she got up right by the dormant lightsaber the same one the Wookie had been using, and activated it. She then went on the offensive, using both lightsabers this was something Ranah had only tried on one other occasion, and from appearances she was doing alright dual wielding. Her first attack had cleaved another incoming rock in two it had been the size of her head. Her attack on the wookie was sloppy and easy to defend against, she had virtually no experience wielding two lightsabers and was fortunate to come from it unscathed. The Wookie hurled another rock at Ranah this one was a little smaller than the last one, it came at her fast and she reacted. She would sidestep and with both lightsabers cleave the medium sized rock in two, but her move was ill timed, as she was a half a second too late in being able to successfully dodge the rock. Her footing became sloppy from the mis-step and the rock grazed her hand. It made enough contact to free her hand of the lightsaber. The green lightsaber blade flew from her grip as the Wookie had called his weapon back to his hand and went to capitalize the temporary advantage. Ranah who was sure her hand had at the minimum a contusion pushed the pain aside with great effort, as she prepared to relaunch her attack in Ataru.

The attack came and Ranah knew she was losing her momentum, was getting tired both from the physical effort but also from drawing heavily on the Force, more than she was accustomed to. The Wookie angrily struck at Ranah. She blocked each strike with her lightsaber but she knew she could not match the Wookie strength for strength. She had barely been able to repel the attack. Seeing his opponent crumbling he shoved her with the Force, knocking her off her feet, causing her to lose her grip on her own lightsaber. The wookie now stood over her, he had a feral look in his eyes.

Before the battle could continue the instructors had called an end. Ranah was on the ground defenseless, the Wookie appeared to hesitate but in the end obeyed and stepped away from his fallen opponent. The Wookie and the instructor departed the grounds. She got a sense that the Wookie was not supposed to keep the fight going after losing his lightsaber.

She was tired, and in pain. The remaining instructor stood over her and helped her to her feet, giving her the training lightsaber. Ranah clipped it to her belt. She did not execute it perfectly but she had been told beforehand that this was reserved for advance students and that for a first run she did very well. She would have plenty of time to meditate on the lessons she learned here as she healed up, one of them being that The Dark Side can come from anywhere sometimes subtle sometimes direct. Ranah did not quite remember when she broke off her connection with the life around her. She surmised it was at the start of the duel.

=End Level 5 App 1448/500=
As Ranah walked back into the Enclave with the instructor he spoke “You handled yourself well, we did not stop the duel because we that is, I wanted to see how you both would respond. You acted honorably. While your opponent gave into his base emotions. My only critique for you would be to continue practicing your swordsmanship I think with practice and more training you would be a formidable opponent wielding two lightsabers" he said with a genuine smile.
