The War-Bringer

Post by Jacobi Wylcott » Mon Aug 26, 2019 7:12 pm

Recovery had come and they were near the completion of their toils - soon Blood would face their wrath. Where had they found time to train? It didn’t matter - what did was that they were here in this moment and once more it was time for the Dark One to implore a student to greater heights. For the more powerful did his followers become, so too did he. Lord Warvanus was the chosen subject today and Tormentous now began taking stock into the strength of his most loyal Warrior - his potency was dense and his touch upon the Force - no - the Dark Side - brought pride to him. Despite this he did not allow the circumstance to blind him to its importance.

Warvanus was to ascend to a level of knowledge that very few ever attained. He held so much anger and resentment inside of him - the true keys to Dark Side talents, Tormentous needed only guide him.

They stood apart from one another ankle deep in the snows of Ziost as the wind blew in a new swell over the horizon. It was coming their way. The cold was bitter on their lungs but it was their raw hatred that kept them warm. Tormentous still had yet to claim his dreadful sword, but he was all but prepared and his state within the Force had seen time enough to measure back to his onetime self but it was not yet fully complete. He wore a familiar custom set of Sith Eradicator plate, no helmet, and a heavy cloak and cape with the hood drawn over his head, one blind white eye hidden within and the other eye - glowing an acid yellow from within the deep of the hood.

His heavy glove creaked into a fist as he faced his Apprentice once again. “You’ve come a long way Lord Warvanus. But your training even now is incomplete and it is not enough to overcome the likes of the Jedi.” He paused, the icy wind bore through his cloak and hood and the chill set about him, he did not relent. “For your loyalty, my friend, I see fit to unveil one of the secrets of the past and learn it for yourself. Know this - the technique I afford you is the physical representation of what it means to be Sith. This will be the very moment where all the strife and fighting and training has all come together - now you shall learn what true power is.” He flexed his fist and clenched it for emphasis.

“Everything until now was just a precursor - now,” he spread his arm to take in everything, “Realize your potential.”

And so the lesson began. “Begin, Warvanus, by reflecting on your most potent emotions. Feed from them and off mine as well.” His words were like hot venom to melt through the snow, Tormentous’ constant anger aimed at the galaxy was a prudent source to siphon off of and what an incredible source of focus it could be for there was no rage as pure as his own. “Draw upon the Dark Side of the Force and gather a vast measure of power to you.” He put emphasis on ‘vast’ as Warvanus would need a large portion of external energy lest he use his own reserves which wasn’t a bad thing but had Tormentous’ teachings shown - concerning the use of Force powers - it was to take all and give nothing in return. The Jedi lived in harmonious balance with the Force, drawing less on their surroundings and more from within while the Sith used everything but themselves in a selfish nature.

“Command it to come to you!” He nearly shouted across the small glade they stood in, “Demand it answer and fuel your desires! Draw upon the power of the Dark Side now!” His voice continued to raise and as if the Force was listening the snows began to pour in and the winds lashed as the snowstorm arrived. Tormentous’ cloak snapped and his cloak rippled in the torrent. He stood ever resolute among the howling gales. “Let the Dark Side not consume you, as you must be focused. You must take control now. This is the threshold of serving the Dark Side and the Dark Side serving you. Drink it in Warvanus, let none escape your sight.”

“Now shift the gathered energy and begin to focus it into your inner being. This manifested energy must now become transient and shift over as you will it to do so. Into your hand now. Feel the burning power gathered upon you. This is where you must translate the emotion into true form. Warvanus, now is the time, reach out with the energy you’ve gathered and express your rage. Show me your hatred in form. The further you reach from your hand the more potent your ability will become. Hatred - you know how to feed from it, now you give voice to that hatred. Remember the power you felt when you murdered your family and those villagers. Remember that night and focus that hatred upon your hand. That emotion will manifest and you need only push it forth. Prove to me that you continue to be as worthy as I believe you to be!”

Tormentous narrowed his gaze upon Warvanus and waited. If Warvanus could display his inner power and should lightning stretch from his hand, the Dark One would be ready to catch it - he needed to feel the power Warvanus was capable of and even though this was the first time and likely would not be anywhere close to what his student could eventually do, it would be a good indication of the future.

Warvanus had studied much in the lore of the Dark Side, he had read about various Masters using the Force Lightning as a weapon, it was said to be a glorious sight. The Dark Side being physically manifested, was only accomplished by the strongest among the devotees of the Dark Side. He listened to Tormentous’ instructions as he began his attempt.

Warvanus possessed a treasure trove of memories to choose from, it took him no time to dwell on the memory of the sacrifice he made to the Dark Side, the murder of Kell Sangross’ wife. He possessed no remorse, nor regret and despite this It was a gift, her death had given Kell pain and anger which Warvanus could be use to fuel his command of the Dark Side. Warvanus drew upon the Dark Side of the Force. He stood there drawing the Dark Side energy into the energy field that surrounded him. Through the Force his presence grew strong and more menacing with each morsel of power he siphoned for himself. He spared no expense of emotions using the full range of them to add fuel to the Dark Power rising within him. He gave it his anger and hatred he poured his lust into it, all acting as an offering to his true Master. The hatred of his enemies, the betrayal he suffered from the Dark Lord when he left Warvanus to die on Korriban. These things burned in him like a barely contained raging inferno. The memory of the battle that saw Tormentous de-throned and how he was cast aside when his role was completed, not only did it increase his resolve to be part of his undoing, but it affirmed his decision he had made then, was the wrong one. The memory of that mistake was powerful, he hated himself for being duped by the Dragon. He hated himself for acting against the true Dark Lord. That hatred tasted like bile in the mouth of the War-Bringer. The Hatred was white hot, it was raw and ripe for the using, it was a hatred he could barely contain, and wouldn’t for very long. He has also fed off the Anger and Hatred of Tormentous like a starving man eating his first meal in a very long time, further filling him to the point of bursting, all the contained energy within his energy field he was barely able to contain the magnitude of power, Warvanus drew the energy into himself.(Feed on Darkside). It sharpened his mind, his focus, it energized him as if he was fresh from a long bacta soak in one of those tanks. It enhanced his reflexes, sharpened his senses, He felt as if he was on a different plain of existence, like he was connected to everything and could perceieve everything around him. The Knowledge that Tormentous had imparted to him was unlike anything he had ever learned, this unfamiliar technique would require everything he had, it was the culmination of all his training, and if he was successful he would show the Dark Side itself manifested in the physical realm. Such a feat was a magnificent one and an exceedingly difficult one, but the War-Bringer was up to the challenge. He had seen other Masters cast lightning from their fingers but had never done this himself. Here he would show Tormentous his potential, and exactly what he had become.

The power he had drawn to himself felt nothing short than god like to the War-Bringer. It was infinite; it whispered its temptations, trying to get Warvanus to lose himself in it, never to return. it was majestic and terrible at the same time. It was the stuff of creation, the power that gods wielded, It was also corruption of nature, as that was the base definition of the Dark Side, it was sinister, and malicious, and It was at his command. He channeled his hatred, the delicious memory of slaughtering his wife and villagers quickened the blood of the War-Bringer, declaring to her that her husband was gone that only Warvanus apprentice to the Emperor himself only remained. That declaration was delicious and it filled Warvanus with a swelling pride, the feeling of the Dark Side’s approval for the first time, all but quickened his blood all over again. The hatred at his poor decision in regards to betraying Tormentous made the War-Bringer ball his hands into a fist, his knuckles turning white as he remembered the folly of it all. he gave that sweet morsel to the Dark Side. He was at the limit of what he could draw in, but he did not stop, he continued to draw more and more Dark Side energy into himself. The pain in his body increasing from the increasing power, as a organic body could only hold so much power, but Warvanus ignored the protests from his mortal shell. Slowly he extended his hand out, drawing from the Force energy he had gathered to himself, the energy that threatened to destroy his physical form to the base elements. He channeled his will, the energy flowed through him, he was its’ conduit. The energy spread through his body leaving its mark upon the War-Bringer. The power was too much; he had to let it disperse. He had to find relief. Inside a faint voice begged him to stop, Warvanus growled in anger and disgust and then screamed in complete agonizing pain that threatened to send him to his knees as his body protested stronger as it was feeling the effects of drawing so much power into him.

He could feel the energy in his fingertips and as it traveled he extended his hand towards his Master. He would let the energy continue its flow, past him. He would take the pain, he owned it, embraced it and the hatred and the anger he felt and transform it into raw power. It was sheer force of will that Warvanus did not give up, it was his indomitable will to not sink to his knees in failure. Containing so much energy had its cost, the energy field that surrounded him started to disrupt due to the immense power he had drawn into himself. With such an overload it threatened to totally shatter the energy field around him. He could feel the energy corrupting the energy field that surrounded him, in short if he kept this up it would kill the War-Bringer. When the energy flowed past his fingertips to the open air a storm of blue-purplish lightning erupted from his fingertips and it flowed like an endless river. His fingers did not burn from it, but his body shook and he felt it tingling from the contained power, power he was now releasing a force of Force Lightning, He watched as the lightning flowed and a laugh began to come from the War-Bringer, a sinister, laugh. Which drowned out the sound of conduction of the lightning he was unleashing towards his Master. The laugh turning to a snarl or primal rage his iris’ radioactive yellow as he unleashed his expression of his rage and hate. The Lightning was a blatant corruption to nature, to the Force itself, the corruption filled the inner being of the War-Bringer.

Just as suddenly as it had began the lightning had ceased, thin whisps of smoke could be seen from his fingers as if he was dripping smoke instead of water. He had just went against nature itself, the feat he had just performed was a blatant corruption of what was natural. Warvanus looked past Tormentous and extended his hand towards a tree and another barrage of Lightning erupted from his fingertips. The lightning engulfed the nearby tree stump, fire consuming it. This time it came only slightly easier to the War-Bringer. With practice it would become easier still. He held his hand up and squeezed the fingers into a fist as A look of triumph crossed on his features.

He could feel the energy traveling through his body, The energy flowed through him like a river,he was its’ conduit his body was like a completed circuit. It was exhilarating but it also brought great physical pain to the War-Bringer, His cells were protesting crying out to stop the madness he was putting his physical body through, his joints were on fire, his muscles ached, He fought to keep his body from trembling, his body conspiring against him to do the Dark Side’s will, as he had stored up so much Dark Side energy he could not contain it any longer. Warvanus had to unleash his expression of the rage and hatred he felt. He would show the Master what his Master level apprentice could do, then he would show the galaxy what he had birthed under Tormentous’ guidance. He shakily extended his right hand towards his Master. It trembled because of the pain as his body protested his every move. He was the Master here he forced his body to his will as it was the time to release it all, He would let the energy continue its flow, past him. Breaking the circuit would show the physical manifestation of the Dark Side. He would take the pain, he owned it, embraced it and the pain turned into white hot hatred and transformed it into raw power. It was sheer force of will that Warvanus did not give up, it was his indomitable will to not sink to his knees in failure. Only the weak would crumble. His body was Containing so much energy which he knew had its cost, and it was beginning to take its toll on the War-Bringer, The energy field that surrounded him started to disrupt due to the immense power he had drawn into himself. It was like a power flicker in a home when power was briefly interrupted or the flow reduced. Inside he felt like he was dying Had he kept this up, such an overload already it threatened to totally shatter the energy field around him. If that happened, Warvanus would die and therefore unworthy of the power he embodied. When the energy flowed past his fingertips to the open air, at first a spark of energy. Warvanus would not be denied as he focused harder pushing aside the distractions such as physical pain, casting the distractions aside produced a instant result as a storm of blue-purplish lightning erupted from his fingertips and it flowed like an endless river. It produced a sizzling sound as it left his fingers, however His fingers did not burn from it, but his body shook and he felt it tingling from the contained power, power he was now releasing a downpour of Force Lightning, He then raised the left hand which unleashed its own downpour of Lighting. He watched as the lightning flowed from his hands and a laugh began to come from the War-Bringer, a sinister, manic laugh. It had stemmed from the power at his command as well as in triumph, The laugh grew louder which drowned out the sound of conduction of the lightning he was unleashing towards his Master. He knew that he would absorb it, but had it been any one who did not walk in the current of the Force would have experienced physical corruption from the storm emanating from his hands. He laughed because of this as well. The laugh was short lived as the laugh then transformed itself into a snarl or primal rage his iris’ radioactive yellow as he unleashed his expression of his rage and hate he felt in its full fury. The rage of everything, from his own body protesting to the Sith itself, to the thought of his enemies still drawing breath.

Just as suddenly as it had began the lightning had ceased, thin whisps of smoke could be seen from his fingers as if he was dripping smoke instead of water. The sound of conduction still lightly hung in the air. He had just went against nature itself, the feat he had just performed was a blatant corruption of what was natural. He stood there dwelling on what had just happened, He realized that he could lessen the flow to a trickle or unleash his full fury all it took was will. As if to test this Warvanus looked past Tormentous and extended his hand towards a tree and another barrage of Lightning erupted from his fingertips. The lightning engulfed the nearby tree stump, the Dark Side corrupting it as fire also was consuming it. This time it came only slightly easier to the War-Bringer. With practice it would become easier still. He held his hand up and squeezed the fingers into a fist as A look of triumph crossed on his features.
He was tired from the effort, His physical body ache and would for a good few days. The Dark Side was a gateway to abilities that were un-natural, something that he heard Darth Sidious through holo-recordings tell a Jedi Knight during the days of the Old Republic. He had just done such a one. He could still feel the pain in his body even though the energy was unleashed and the lightning stopped. Warvanus’ body craved rest but his resolve, will and lust for power wanted to learn more.
