Jonah paced in his large comfy office , first his prized mistress was murdered, then his vault and armory destroyed and now his beast pens. These attacks he deduced were aimed at him personally. He had beefed up security in his home complex but now reports came that there was an intruder and 3 guards members of his elite were dead and they had not apprehended this intruder. He walked over to his safe that he kept in his office inside was a little metal box he opened its contents inside was a blaster, about 20,000 in credits and documents, this was his escape box. He had considered jumping planet but it would be difficult to get out unnoticed now. He closed the safe and locked it, he had only one thing to do and that would be confront this intruder and exterminate him and deliver the corpse to whatever group this person represented. He knew this person was not some random lone wolf.
His comm. Beeped, he walked over to his desk and hit the button

“Report” he barked
“Still no sign of the intruder but we think he got a hold of a card key sir” The guard told him
He slammed his fist hard on the table, “FIND HIM NOW, I don’t care what it takes” then cutting the comm. Abruptly.
One thing was for certain. Jonah was becoming unglued.

=Inside the Complex=

The Acolyte navigated through the tunnels listening to the nudges from the Force. His progress was slow moving but he was not in a rush, they knew he was here, though not knowing where exactly. He came to an crossway, either left, right, or up. The Force nudged him urging him to climb. It was wide enough for him to shimmy his way slowly up. When he reached the top he went forward. He stilled his breathing as he came to a vent, he kept his distance but yet close enough to observe.
Through the grate he saw a teenage boy arguing with one of the complex’s servants. Carrying on about precautions and put out that he had to endure hardships as defined by a privileged life. After a couple of minutes the servant left and the boy was all alone. He was tempted to break free and kill him but the Force held him back. It nudged him back and to take the left tunnel.

“All in due time” he thought to himself and backed away and changed direction. He followed it a short ways until he came to another grate. This was someone’s bedroom it was empty. By the look of the décor it looked like it belonged to a girl. He opened the grate and exited. She would be his first real meaningful kill in the name of his Master. He looked around and took a spot behind a desk. He drew a dagger that he had taken from the armory and waited…..

Almost 30 minutes had passed when the door slid open, and an equally bratty girl emerged into the room. She was average height. Medium blonde hair blue eyes. She was fuming, he would be merciful with her and kill her swiftly. He rose and slowly walked behind her and with one fluid motion covered her mouth and the other hand taking his dagged and running it across her throat. He muffled her scream as her blood was spilling out he had of course released her after running his blade. He watched her die and when she finally moved and made no more sounds he knew she was dead. He was not done though. He found a bag on her bed he went through the contents. Emptied them, though he did find a curious looking piece of tech. The Force nudged him, he stuffed it in his pouch. He took the bag and went to the corpse and with the same dagger would gouge her eyes from her skull and put them in the bag. His next target would be her brother. He opened the grating and climbed back in securing it quietly behind him, he crawled his way away. He turned a corner and then another and then a third before he came to the air opening of another bedroom. This room had an occupant. The brother. He remained still, very still as he thought of the best plan to attack, now that the sister was dead the Acolyte knew he had little time before the complex would be all in an uproar. His Dagger out he found his opening and lifted the opening and dropped to the floor landing on his feet. The Boy turned around

“What are you-“ he began

The Acolyte was on him and before he could finish his sentence the Acolyte jammed the dagger in the boy’s throat. He pulled it out and then another stab to the heart. The boy dropped lifeless his blood spilling onto the floor. The Acolyte would turn the body over and like with the sister gouged out the eyes and put them into his bag. A sense of forboding came over him (Danger Sense) he stretched out with the Force and sensed somebody approaching. He would press himself to the wall by the door, a minute later the door slid open and a servant came in the door hissed and when the servant saw the mutilated corpse the Acolyte covered the servants mouth and slit his throat. Soon the servant was dead. With that he peered outside, the hallway was empty, he could sense Jonah’s wife in the room at the end of the hall. He made his way to the end of the hallway bag in hand. He sheathed the dagger. He opened the door and stepped inside, it slided shut behind him to where the Acolyte hit the lock button.

“Who in the Hell are you” the woman demanded
The Acolyte did not answer but withdrew something from his pouch and handed it to her
“What’s this?” she demanded
The Acolyte said simply “Read it” and she did
The look of betrayal and horror came over her as she started to cry. The Acolyte advanced on her slowly backing her into a corner. He said nothing he gave no speech.

=An Hour Later=

The Acolyte had finished his work and had made his way back down. Here he would plant the explosives in the pivotal points He had even found the security control room where there was a camera on the bedrooms. The Acolyte made sure the data was sent to Jonah’s office. He then made quick work and made his way back down to the stress focal points of the building. There he set explosives, it was easy to plant and conceal as they blended with the beams. Now he would enable the final phase of the operation, the destruction of his home and the confrontation of the man himself. Leaving the complex was easy after stealing a uniform from one of the guards he killed while escaping. When he got to a good distance, he would hit the button and watch as the complex was engulfed by flames.

=Elsewhere=

Jonah had just receieved the security logs from his home. He oftened would review them and this time was no different. He found it peciluar that they came ahead of schedule. He normally would have to threaten his personal security force. He watched and on the screen he heard his wife’s voice with a man whose back was to the camera screaming and sobbing, holding a letter, over and over again she wailed

“Why would he do this to me? , Why, Why???? Why would he cheat on me, he had everything” she was angry, she was sobbing then he watched in horror as the man drew a small blade and slit her throat. There the feed ended. His wife was dead. He could feel the tears streaming down his face, whats worse she died hating him. He was shaken out of his pity when an explosion rocked the command center. Jonah hit the comm. Button

“Whats going on?” he hoarsely barked trying to keep his composure
“Sir, there was an explosion” came the voice
“where?” his voice going even lower knowing where the source was
“Your home sir” came back the voice

Jonah’s stomach fell. He had somehow knew. He hoped his children escaped in time. He went back to the safe and opened it, withdrew the contents from the small metal box. Tucked the blaster under his belt , he needed to leave he was probably going to have to start over again he needed to find out if his children were ok. Just then the door slid open and closed behind the guard. The guard hit the lock button .

Jonah turned around faceing the guard he had a puzzled numb look to him, the guard removed his helmet and mask letting it drop to the ground.

“Jonah Agronis” the voice said
“who wants to know” came the reply
“You have an appointment with Darth Tormentous” came back the retort

Jonah’s demeanor changed just very briefly , fear registered in his expression, then thinking better on it “What does a 2 bit Sith Lord want with me”
The Acolyte walked up to him, slowly but with purpose. He said nothing but he backhanded Jonah across the face
“That is Emperor Tormentous you scum” he spat “You have an audience with him I suggest if you want to survive You must bend the knee as that is the only way you ”
“Why didn’t he come his damned self?” Jonah spat back
“The Emperor is too important and busy to deal with pond scum like yourself, now you will knee and swear fealty to the new Emperor”
“I will not” he said defiantly

The Acolyte considered this he knew he could not kill him but he would have to resort to injuring him. “Fair enough” he said after a long long moment with that he withdrew the bag and opened it and emptied the contents on his desk.

Jonah looked down and 3 sets of eyeballs sat on his desk staring at him. His lip quivered but the Acolyte answered his unasked question
“They belong to your wife and children, your children died screaming like animals, blind and flailing about, your wife she died cursing your name, as she too flailing about, I told her about your mistress, she died in agony all because of you. It was I who have destroyed all that you hold dear. It was me. You may get it all back if you bend the knee to my Master, “ The Acolyte told him this as if it was everyday circumstance. He had no remorse he felt no pity he felt nothing for this static being who did not walk in the currents of the Force.

The Acolyte grinned cruelly “Now you can come with me the easy way or I will take you by force the choice is yours”

Nobody moved for a good long moment. But Jonah made his decision and before anything happened the Acolyte knew, the foreboding tugged at his mind (Danger Sense) and at the last minute he dodged as the shot fired, he withdrew his blade and he had ducked and swung at the hand firing the blaster. He did not not sever the hand but the blaster was no more. He put the blade length wise against his throat and pushed him against the wall.
“You can be replaced” he spat in his face and with that he kneed him in the stomach hard pulled his blade back and let him fall to the floor then he took the end of the hilt of his blade and hit him in the back of the head knocking him unconscious.

“Pitiful worm” he spat feeling nothing but hatred and contempt for this poor excuse of a sack of meat.

The Acolyte would find wire and bind his hands and feet with it, he now needed to get to the mountain. He called upon the Force (Sense) he followed the currents something felt odd in the room and he wondered as he approached a wall panel, he pressed on a plate that looked a bit out of place and a door slid open. He carried Jonah on his back and followed it to a lift that brought him down to a private hanger. He apparently had been planning to run as the shuttle appeared primed for take-off. He unceremoniously threw the body against the wall and secured the shuttle the hanger opened and in moments the shuttle had departed and sped towards the stars. Once in orbit, he would do a systems check. He had hoped his Master’s ship was close, it must have been and he was sure his Master could sense his presence and knew.

The Specter silently hung in the depths of space over Lucazec, the world was churning in emotional turmoil and tonight especially so - Darth Tormentous stood expectantly within the main galley of the Infiltrator, he’d long since closed his mind to his Acolyte’s needs for he’d given the youth all that he needed and now it was up to him to rise or fall on his own. The hours passed by quietly, Tormentous’ patience was not infinite but it was extensive as he could feel victory on the horizon and only in victory could this truly end.

In due time, the sensors picked up a contact emerging from the atmosphere and as he brought it up on screen he furrowed his brow to the sight. It was Jonah’s ship, right enough, but it was flying with all haste. Either the Acolyte was caught and Jonah was making a quick escape in a pithy bid for survival or the Acolyte had secured his own means of escape from Lucazec and was making way from the planet. Tormentous closed his molten yellow eye and sought the Force, reaching outwards across the expanses of the void he clawed his way into the other ship and there a swell of pride teased him - he sensed the presence of his Acolyte, and that of another.

Jonah was the Acolyte’s prisoner. This was more than he’d hoped for, Jonah was a hard man to get to and if the Acolyte had succeeded so vastly to have captured the fiend then there was great promise indeed. This was a proving moment - granted the goal of Jonah being bent to the will of Tormentous was valuable in its own way, but what Tormentous sought more than the alliance of some beggar prince was the capitulation of an Acolyte’s promise to show him a potential warrior of the caliber of Kroxata himself and the cunning snake of Slade too. Yes, this Acolyte, if honed properly, would deliver much to the cause on the grand scale.

“Drop the cloaking field and allow that shuttle to dock.” Tormentous commanded Captain Iella simply and within moments the deed was done and the Specter fell onto an intercept course with Jonah’s pilfered shuttle. The docking procedure lasted only long enough to annoy the Dark One, yet the airlock opened and the Acolyte stood triumphantly before a broken and bleeding Jonah.

First and foremost this was a moment of impression. How would Tormentous show himself before a newly victorious Acolyte and a defeated pawn that needed to be bent to his will? First, he gripped the filth with the Force, the Dark Side flooded the chamber and ripped Jonah from the deck, up off his feet and unnaturally fast into the grip of Darth Tormentous where a leather glove wrapped around the man’s throat. With one arm the Lord of the Sith lifted this pathetic excuse up and brought him in close. “Jonah Argonis, you worthless sot.” The venom in Tormentous’ voice belied none of his disgust of the man, if not for his value to Lucazec he would dispatch him now without another thought.

His grip tightened and cut the man’s air supply off, he wriggled and spat and moaned for air and Tormentous gave him only more agony to add to his broken heart. “Everything you’ve striven for, I have swept aside with ease. Years of work and toil, gone in a single night.” His hatred for Jonah grew ever more until it reached a boiling point. “You could have ruled Lucazec as a god if you’d only found some humility to knee to my name. Now,” Tormentous bore down and cast the man to the deck where he sputtered for breath, “now, you’ll find nothing.”

It was apparent now that Tormentous had changed his mind, as much worth as this man was, he was nothing but a speck to the grand scheme. Jonah’s life was no longer worth the lives of a hundred thousand slaves. What was a few replaceable lives so long as it meant Tormentous sent a message to the lot of them.

Sourly he looked to Kell, “Acolyte, give this sweatrag one last look at his home.”

Weakly Jonah tried to grab for Tormentous’ boot but the Dark One kicked the meek hand away without pity, “The weak pave the way with their blood that the strong may walk on the glory of the Sith. The weak are deserving of nothing more than death, it is when we choose to fulfill that destiny that matters.”

He turned away from Jonah, “And I’ve no further use for you.”

The Acolyte stood before his Master as the Dark Lord dispensed his justice. He could feel the Darkside, it permiated every inch of the room. The Acolyte, He simply stood there his hands behind his back watching, drinking in the fear that was pouring out from this worm. This maggot. Ready to do his Master’s will. He had groveled at the Dark Lord’s feet. The Acolyte knew that Jonah’s connection to the ethereal realm would be severed and soon.

Acolyte, give this sweat rag one last look at his home” he heard his Master command. At this he grabbed Jonah by his hair and yanked him up to his feet. “As you command Master” he said.

This was another test, how would the Acolyte deal with this maggot. He did not wrestle with the morality of it , or if it was extreme or not. No There was none of that weakness in the Acolyte. If anything the Acolyte wrestled with the method on being efficient and yet inflicts the most pain. Then the idea came to him. He dragged Jonah by his hair to the port window.

“Take a good look at what used to be your Kingdom”
He spat

Jonah looked but gazed his eyes elsewhere as if he was trying to survery his surroundings. With a rough jerk and slamming his face against the port window, breaking Jonah’s nose in the process the Acolyte spoke venom seeping into his tone

“I said…. TAKE A GOOD LOOK and with that held him by the neck and made Jonah look. He then dragged Jonah towards the airlock and pressed the button to open. The doors opened with a slight hiss. Jonah who now realized what was going to happen began to resist. The Acolyte pushed him hard into the airlock and withdrew his dagger.

Jonah who thought he was going to die in the airlock began whimpering and begging . The Acolyte could smell the fear in the air. He was also sure that Jonah soiled himself too. The Acolyte narrowed his eyes and delivered a roundhouse kick right to Jonah’s face. He went down like a bag of bricks. The Acolyte squatted down and grabbed Jonah by the hair again his dagger in his free hand.
“I want the last thing you see to be my face” He sneered at the maggot. “I hope you have committed your home to memory because you’ll never see it again” he sneered at the word see.

Jonah intensified his begging as the Acolyte brought the dagger to his left eye. Closer and closer until he stabbed him with it and as if he was trying to fish something free all the while he held him even more tightly, after a few long moments the left eye popped out of it’s socket and to the floor. The screams that came from the airlock were loud. He slammed his head on the floor hard and gouged the other eye out. He stood up and spat

“Pathetic worm” he said with so much vile as he stepped outside the airlock. He pressed the button to close the doors. He watched him for a bit. Partially covered in his blood the Acolyte watched Jonah flalling about trying to feel his way around the room. Finally after a few moments of being entertained he pressed the decompression button and just like that Jonah was no more. He then walked over to his Master his back was to him. He bent the knee

“What is your bidding my Master?”

It didn’t take long for the Acolyte to dispatch Jonah and Tormentous could feel every moment of it as the Dark Side of the Force looked upon the youth in approval. Though this was no time for unnecessary ‘atta-boys’ or frivolous praise for the enemies of Tormentous were ever on the move, to preempt them was key. “With Argonis out of the way, we will not only replace him but we must dispense a strong governor over the world. What course of action should we choose to accomplish this with?” The question was not without merit, this was a moment for the Acolyte to display he had cunning and not just the killing grace of a murderer. Indeed, it would take someone strong and ruthless to rule over Lucazec though one not so ambitious as to willingly depart Tormentous’ shadow.

“Also, Jonah’s House Guard, they failed to intercept you and thus they failed in their mandate to protect a leading head of the Sith Empire. How would you deal with their poor display?” Again, a moment of thought to be given. Weren’t the guards assets still? Execution for failure was almost a given, though one of Tormentous’ first lessons to Kell was that every life has purpose, even in death. Yes, Tormentous was quite anxious to hear how the Acolyte would deliver his word upon the Guard of Argonis’ House.

As the Acolyte answered, Tormentous merely nodded; “Make it so Acolyte and be swift. We still have much to do.” With that Tormentous arose and departed for his chambers, he would summon Kell again once it was time for his training to continue.

---Six Hours Later

The Specter had long since made the departure from Lucazec and was now heading deeper into the Gordian Reach on the whim of its Lord and Master. Kell had been left to tend to his tasks, assigning a new governor for Lucazec and dealing with the failures of House Argonis, in which he was given first hand knowledge of the extensive list of experts under the banner of Tormentous and these members were the means in which the tasks would be handled. A glimpse of the depth of how far this really went.

Once accomplished, Kell was given leave to rest, eat, manage a bit of training on his own - but eventually the call of the Dark One came to him - it was time to continue his training.

Just as before, Darth Tormentous stood in the training room facing the doorway and his Sword was tip down, hands resting upon the pommel. He let the Acolyte enter the room and get settled and for a moment he stood there in silence, saying and doing nothing. A moment of patience to observe his newest Acolyte and feel out his reactions to this setting. This silence would not last forever though as the time for action came to the fore.

“Acolyte,” Tormentous proclaimed, “in all your training, you must never blind yourself to the realm of defense. Some say it is weakness to ever defend and instead always strike forth until your offense overwhelms your enemy. In theory this is who we are - unstoppable gods among lesser. Though, arrogance will oft be the swiftest means of humility. See through hubris, Acolyte, and realize the limitations of an undefended mind.” He began, his tone was deep as he delivered the first element of any lesson - the why. Why train in these lessons without knowing how and in what manner to employ them? Knowing the why was always half the battle in itself.

“Come, strike me with everything you are capable of.” Even as Kell readied himself at his master’s command, Tormentous made no motion to defend himself. Kell came forth, his training guiding him as well as his instincts, he was a weapon of war and would not hesitate to do as he’d been commanded. As Kell approached, Tormentous lifted a single finger from the pommel of his Sword and the blade Kell had spilt so much blood with was torn from his hands and it hovered in the air, aimed at the original wielder. “Without the mind to gird us well, we are subject to the minds of others. So easily may we be undone by a simple thought.”

He tossed the blade back to Kell and let him try again, once more he was rebuffed in very much the same manner - regardless of how tightly he held to his weapon. “The Force’s power is what we seek, it is our never ending quest for more as we feed from it and grow. Without the mind there would be no Force, though without the Force, the mind would be crippled. These physical bodies are just as much tools to the Force as the Force is a tool to the mind. In this, a physical stance cannot overpower a mind equipped with the Force. Lest one that is properly trained.”

Again he tossed the blade back yet this time he gave no signal to continue and without a word Kell knew he was to listen rather than do. “Just as I may seize your weapon, I may view your mind - regardless of your will. Your thoughts, your secrets, your intentions are lain bare upon your shoulder for any with the capability to see them. Obviously, this will not do. Our lives are led in secrecy and without discretion we are doomed. There are ways to prevent this unwelcome method of intrusion into our minds and from pilfering our instruments or war.”

“Look upon your mind as you gather the Force around you. As you’ve learned to channel the Force to an arm or even draw it into you, you will channel the Force to your mind and keep it there. The currents of the mind are difficult to follow but take your time and do so - weave the Force through the currents and thread them into the likeness of a wall. This mental wall must be enforced and brought fully around the currents of the mind, this is what is considered a mental barrier. With time and training your mental barrier will be able to protect you from intrusive mental probes or even more indepth ones. It isn’t a perfect defense, but it is a basic shield to set you aside from the rank and file. With this most simple of techniques, you’ll achieve much.”

“At the same time, this mental barrier is not all that you must accomplish. Gradually expand this same method and just as you built a layer of wall around your mind, erect one around your body. This one will take more time and effort though once you’ve accomplished it, the network of defenses will prevent someone from pulling away your weapons and even to some minor extent, it will lessen the blows of Force attacks though it will never be a proper defense against them.”

Once Kell was ready, Tormentous would once again make to pilfer his weapon as well as dispatch a mental probe to seek out Kell’s thoughts and intentions. “This technique is called, Force Shield. It is well that you should learn this, without it, you only fail yourself.”

The Acolyte listened as his Master spoke, asking him who should replace him. He felt like he was being tested. The Acolyte was barely aware of the words leaving his lips

“The new governor should be someone whose loyalty to you is absolute but someone easy to control and manipulate and yet competent and can work independently but with your goals and the Empires and not his or her own, and yet someone who is also dispensable if the need ever arises. With Jonah’s house guard, they did fail in their mandate and therefore their lives should be forfeit. He had mercenaries, they should be all executed and soldiers should replace them. If it pleases you my Master I will take a squadron and dispense of them and instill them in their place as well as install a new governor. This will also send a message to anybody who thinks that they are above the goals and will of the Emperor”

When he was dismissed he left the room and got to work. He took with him Beta Squadron from the 192nd Battalion, the squadron comprised of about 15 to 20 soldiers. Weeding out the house guard was easy work and the transition of that aspect went smooth. He also had to install a new governor. He had before leaving the ship, had gone through records of potential candidates. He found one a colonel who had been in the Empire with a perfect record and a fiercly loyal to Darth Tormentous. His name was Cam Pycellan. The Acolyte was not gone for long the transition went smoothly, what the Colonel did not know was that he had left an agent who would be monitoring him and who reported only to the Acolyte and or Darth Tormentous.

When he had returned he had freshened up and changed clothes it was not long before he felt the call of his Master. He wasted no time answering the call.

The Acolyte stood before his Master soaking in his wisdom, his teachings. Soaking every word into his mind like a devoted disciple he was. When his master ordered him to strike him he was a bit confused but he obeyed, as he was certain that he would understand before long. He did as he was commanded and surprise flooded him when his blade flew from his grasp. He took the blade and tried again as he was commanded. Though he was a bit more ready his preparations were futile as once again the blade flew from his grip. He took the blade and held it as he listened to the words of his Master.
=Begin Force App: Force Shield=
Req. Word Count: 300

The Acolyte listened and reached out to the Force, he could feel the currents around him, the endless energy going through him and around him. He brought his focus to the energy that was going through him. He could feel it in his mind, his limbs. It was as if he had raw material at his command. Oh how easy it would be to lose himself in it. With his mind, he envisioned the energy as a wall, he did not need to manipulate it but will it to condense itself as if making a barrier of pure energy. It took a lot of effort on his part but he felt he was if anything marginally successful. This was taking more effort and focus than on anything he had learned yet. He then applied the same method to his limbs. Little by little until his body and his mind was enveloped by this wall of energy. He was not sure how long he could maintain this and wondered to himself how it came so effortlessly to others. One lapse in concentration the barrier would be gone. As if the Force was reading his thoughts it happened. His lapse in focus the shield was down. A low growl escaped his lips, he could feel the monster rising up in him.

He was not about to give up again he called upon the Force this time pouring his anger and fury at himself for his failure. Once again and with some effort not as much as the first attempt he called the energy around his body and mind. He pushed his will coercing it to act as a wall, a barrier, a shield. He did not feel more powerful but he did in a sense feel more sturdy, more durable. To the naked eye nobody would see anything different about the Acolyte, and through the Force he did not know if another force user could sense the barrier. He made a mental note to ask him. As he thought this he felt his focus falter but he did not lose the mental wall he erected as his anger was still fueling his efforts. Through gritted teeth he spoke to his Master

“I am ready”

As his Master would test his wall he poured his focus into maintaining the barrier he erected. He knew his Master was much stronger than he was and this being his first attempt would probably push his way through it but it would not be like an open door as it were. No he pulled the energy to himself. He willed it to remain as a barrier as long as he possibly can.
