"Ensure I am not disturbed. This experiment is important."
Prazutis had requested a test subject like this for some time, but it had taken ages for a ship to be taken with prisoners that didn’t have valuable information for the Empire. Luckily, this Captain was said to be on a simple supply mission and happened to get caught near the outer rim in Empire space.
Prazutis entered the room, where the Galactic Alliance captain had been strapped to an examination table, ready for what Prazutis wanted to do. It had been a long time coming, this experiment, and he was eager to get started.

Prazutis reached out with the force, his senses examining the prisoner, both in body and mind. The imperial agent had to block out much of what he sensed, from the energy within the man, to the workings of his physical body, reigning in his senses. He could feel the alliance soldier’s emotions within his heart, feel his fear, his anger at being caught, and his anxiety about what was next, but instead had to guide his efforts elsewhere.
Instead, Prazutis pulled his power’s efforts up, away from the heart and instead towards the prisoner’s mind. The soldier was clearly panicked, anxious in imagining what was about to happen to him. While his fear was in his heart, the way he worried and the way his body reacted originated from one source: The soldier’s brain.
Prazutis pushed away the distractions, the sounds and senses around him, focusing as much as he could on the mind of the prisoner. Honing his senses, he made the soldier’s brain his only task, the only thing in front of him amidst the sea of sights and auras. With his mind in the forefront of Prazutis’ efforts, he felt the force around them, the energy that surrounded them, and began to alter the flow of it.
The Empire’s dark agent brought up a gauntlet, pulling energy to both the Alliance soldier’s brain and to his helmet, guiding the energy to flow around their heads. Through this, Prazutis felt a connection spark between them, loose but present. Prazutis fed more and more energy to the space between their minds, pulling the energy from the air and even filtering some of his own essence into the flow. Prazutis could feel the energy, the power, begin to churn in a circle from his helmet, into the soldier’s head, through his brain before turning and making the trip back again. Prazutis pushed more energy into this space, into the force’s flow, until he felt the connection click into place, and he could get a feel for the soldier’s mind.
While Prazutis couldn’t physically see or hear the exact same things as the soldier, he could feel a bond between them, a kinship for negative emotions that helped the prisoner feed Prazutis’ and his bond, even more, in a cycle that kept their connection growing stronger. Prazutis held the bond together, ensuring the flow of energy didn’t waver, but it was made that much easier by the man’s fear.
With this cycle in place, and Prazutis having a good grasp on how to keep it strong, Prazutis reached through it, envisioning images of death and suffering before sending them out, projecting them into the bond and towards the mind of the soldier.
The soldier’s mind seemed to filter out the images themselves. Though the hatred and fury that seethed within Prazutis caused the soldier to be in a state of near agony, the projections didn’t seem to have an effect. The man should’ve seen, or at least somehow sensed, the visions he was crafting, yet he didn’t react in any way.
The imperial used his senses once more, trailing them down the cycle that connected the two’s minds. His energy was flowing freely through the air, and from what he could tell, it didn’t seem to have any blocks passing through the soldier’s mind. What was stopping his projections, then?
Prazutis pulled his senses back and sent a few of the projections through the connection, just as before, and followed them with his senses.
Through the bond, the projections flowed, passing as energy towards the Alliance soldier’s mind. However, Prazutis sensed a block, some sort of mental resistance that allowed energy to pass, but filtered out the images.
The imperial suspected that some stormtrooper recruits wouldn’t have such a barrier, but that this man must be a veteran for him to have a strong mind.
Prazutis grunted and focused once more on his mind, conceiving the projections in his mind. He thought about the images that he wanted to convey clearly, taking time to form them and make them stable before sending them out.
He used his senses to watch them go, following his projections until they reached the Alliance soldier’s mind. Prazutis saw his mental barrier push against them, and felt the tension as the images tried to ride the force energy through the brain of the prisoner.
Prazutis felt that attempt was better, and it seemed some of the images were able to break through, but for the most part, the Alliance fighter’s mind was able to resist. There was something missing, something that allowed the soldier to hold onto the curtain of disbelief.
The more the man’s mind pushed against the images, the more he realized what Prazutis was doing. The alliance soldier pulled his mind back within itself, blocking Prazutis out and effectively breaking their connection, dispersing the energy cycle that traveled between them.

Prazutis cursed, looking at the prisoner as he panted in relief that he was able to oppose the influence of Prazutis’ power. It was an experiment with an unfamiliar ability, of course, but knowing he had the power that he did but he couldn’t simply do what he wanted with it was infuriating.
Prazutis stepped out into the hall, looking at one of the imperials that looked over a datapad in an observation room.
“The ship that we captured this man on… where are the rest of the crew?” Prazutis asked.
“Dead, sir,” the officer replied.
“I need to see what they looked like. Either get me their intelligence files or show me the reports’ images of their corpses.”
The officer was confused, but did as Prazutis requested, and he waited until the images were given to him. Once he saw them, he nodded, crafting a new vision, taking time to think over his next moves before entering the room again.
About half an hour passed before Prazutis finally decided he was ready, and entered the room again, facing the prisoner.

Prazutis pulled the force energy around him towards the minds of him and the prisoner, and poured his own power into them again. A mix of energy from the room around him and energy from within Prazutis himself flowed around the two, and once more Prazutis guided the flow of that energy, bringing it between his mind and the brain of the Alliance soldier. Although the soldier was ready this time, Prazutis was as well.
More and more of Prazutis’ own energy flooded into the flow, the connection between them snapping into place more easily this time, since they shared a bond before. This time, however, Prazutis didn’t allow the energy to flow freely like it had before, like a calm stream. Instead, he pulled the energy to him and pushed it into the mind of the prisoner, making the energy flow faster, more agitated. It was harder to maintain, but as he already envisioned the images, he didn’t need to divide his attention as much as when he was crafting the images while holding the bond.
With this stronger, faster mental connection, and with a new mental image prepared, Prazutis poured his projections into the connection.
The images were more stable than ever, more immersive than ever. Not only did he send images, he sent emotions, scents, tastes and sounds that he used in harmony, all of them pushing against the mental barrier of the soldier.
The man’s barrier pushed, but the projections, so many and all of them so strong, working together to push against his brain, soon pushed hard enough that they made his mind’s defenses crack.
The scent of burning wood and charred flesh whiffed past the soldier’s nose, then the sounds of blaster fire, of trees falling in the distance. More and more of Prazutis’ projections slipped into his mind until he doubted where he was, and in that doubt, his mind was flooded with the projections, sending him to a place crafted within Prazutis’ own imagination.
