Sitting down upon the terrace where Silas had held his titanic duel with Tormentous the Echani Sovereign allowed the harsh winds to cascade across his bare flesh. Having removed the armor and gauntlets above his waist Silas worked toward adapting to the new environment. Closing his eyes in mediation Silas beheld images of the former empress at her peak. The fear she managed to instill in her opponents seemed to flow from a mastery of a single art. Krynn had succeeded in claiming shadows as a veil to hide her presence and grant her a visceral movement that was beyond the understanding of the rank and file. Yet, her use of the skill carried a weakness without the capacity to conceal one’s presence within the Force from another practitioner. ‘Always power without knowledge or skill, she was fortunate to possess such immense arcane might,’ Silas contemplated. Not since his training with the Sith Ancient had Silas reached out to Korriban but now the Black Hand deemed it necessary once more to call upon the ever-present Dark Side energies that permeated the very air itself. At the same time Silas also touched upon his own peerless connection to the Living Force. In moments the surging supernatural energies poured into Silas’s being granting him immense potency within the Force. Yet, this act was merely a necessary first step as reaching the pinnacle of his strength was needed to test the success of shielding that power from the trained senses of other practitioners. The driving influence behind Silas’s meditations was the continued escalation between his self and Tormentous.

The largely impossible goal of surpassing the Dark Lord certainly fed into Tormentous’s own beliefs, whether Silas realized the potential for that or not. Regardless, it was this drive that saw Silas contemplating his own limitations and what one who had only a portion of his bloodline was able to achieve through the Force. With his apex reached Silas left to stalk the various acolytes serving the Red Cauldron. In his first attempt Silas tired to simply calm his mind and just hold his inner strength without use yet this simply led to immediate detection. Seeing the futility in this effort Silas instead turned to looking upon his self through the Force. With the veil of the physical lifted and utilizing his ability to use this ‘second sight’ Silas beheld the luminous Obsidian black form he exuded. Studying the flow of the Force around this visage Silas noted a subtle echo or perhaps ripples stretching out beyond him. The first and most obvious objective was to erase his visible presence within the realm of the unseen. Channeling the energies that had arrived at his call Silas extended them to his hands and in a truly crude methodology touched his chest and focus the Force. The dim form soon bent and buckled to his manipulations. To truly erase the light took great effort but just as the luminance was a product of the symbiotic relationship the Force held with his flesh so too did its presence adhere to his mastery there of. The obsidian light soon faded away and all that remained was the impact its presence held upon the Living Force. ‘This method is far too imprecise to succeed fully. I can tell my presence has been greatly diminished and hidden from those who have also learned to look beyond what their physical eyes can discern.’ Silas mused before attempting yet another approach on the acolytes. True to the Sovereign’s insight his presence could no longer be detected by the lowest ranks of the Sith that dwelt on Korriban. However, those more astute, those who had trained at length in honing their senses through the Force could easily pick up on the monstrous entity that Silas had become. Retreating once more Silas sat down in meditation. ‘This method would likely work for a standard apprentice or even an adept at the level of a Jedi Knight. Yet, my endless search for strength has pushed beyond the limits of this technique. I must find a way to still the troubled waters of the Living Force that echo from the very existence of my soul within its flow.

It was a tug and pull of finite degree, attempting to fully connect with the totality of his supernatural potency while simultaneously masking its existence was perhaps the most difficult refinement of Silas’s manipulation of the Force he had ever undertaken short of his days spent training under Traya. Further complicating matters was Silas’s intention for the art in allowing its use in heavy combat. Control, an aspect Silas held a very turbulent relationship with also became the defining focus of this new ability. For it not to be alteration stalling his efforts for once was a strange notion. However, ever since his efforts mastering telekinetic combat alteration had become almost natural. Looking once more into the realm of the invisible beyond the physical world Silas now looked to the disturbance echoing out from his being. In similar fashion to the barrier formed when guarding against Force techniques Silas slowly enveloped his form. The response nearly jarred Silas as the disruptions within the Force ceased. “That’s it; I can no longer sense energies or ripples of such echoing out from the epicenter.” Silas stood up only to make another discovery. ‘I see now, this could be combined with the shadow step art but at a cost. In order to raise such a guard to detection it would be impossible to draw further upon the Force. Of course, lest I need to hide for an extended period of time that drawback shouldn’t be too limiting.’ Convinced of its effectiveness Silas tested his newfound ability moments later. To the former battlemaster’s elation his presence was now completely hidden. Moreover, unless there was need for strenuous exertion he could maintain the guise indefinitely. “Perhaps its time to cull the herd…”
