***Magnify Senses – 700 word requirement, Application Start***
A cool breeze flowed through Silas’s body as he sat in meditation overlooking the whole of the palatial grounds of Eshan. The spire of forged of the highest tower now bore his crest on the precious stones that had been laid to form its foundation. The six by six meter square that now comprised the top of the tower had been added just so the Lord of Eshan could harness the full mastery of the Force. Closing his eyes and controlling his breathing Silas began the process of tapping into his near-peerless connection to the Living Force. Reaching out across the vast horizon that surrounded Silas he called upon the limitless energies of the Force. Since his acceptance of the Dark Side, Silas felt an unnatural surge of adrenaline whenever he touched the Force and today was no different.
A sickening yellow glow altered the very hue of his eyes which now shown as citrine. Channeling the vast flow of Force from across the palatial grounds Silas opened his eyes and beheld his domain. It was at that moment Silas decided to finally master the merger of his inherited augmented senses with that allowed him by his connection with the Force. Atop the tower of his own keep forged specifically to focus his already tremendous supernatural strength, Silas had the capacity to complete his training in augmented his senses beyond natural limitations. Reaching the apex of his connection and potency within the Force, even with the stout increase from Dark Side energies, Silas harkened back to his first fumbling with the aspect. ‘Magnifying my senses to touch upon this or feel that will always have finite aspirations. However, in a short burst I could exceed even my famed limits in a single variant. Perhaps that is the only means to grant further mastery without incurring greater risk should another opponent ever harness their voice…’
Silas pondered the method and logistics of his potential. As an Echani Silas had always shied away from increasing his senses beyond even his famed apex, this had been cemented after enduring the archaic Force Scream technique. However, the notion of a far more finite manipulation over a limited period of time harnessing the Force to amplify only one of the five senses did hold sway within the mind of the Sovereign. “First will be sight,” Silas spoke as he looked out at the southern horizon. Standing up, Silas slowed his breath to its limit and began channeling the fountain of supernatural energies he had painstakingly called forth. Redirecting the current of the Living Force around him Silas drew the limitless ambrosia toward his eyes. Withdrawing all but the slightest traces of Force energies from the air around him and emptying the core of his own being Silas began to strain under the stress of such focus. The sheer magnitude of energies drawn toward the epicenter of his vision was multiple times greater than the necessary output to emit lightning. Calmly Silas finished his work by carefully increasing the potency of his focus as he began to look past the palatial grounds toward Yusanis.
It had been years since Silas had been so dedicated in training within the aspect he most excelled, and yet true to his inherent talent for sense augmentation the horizon pushed back before his sight and the lush green fields that separated the palace district from the capital came into view. The magnification of his natural sight was akin to looking through the lenses of a telescope. This of course denied Silas the spatial awareness necessary to detect threats at close range. ‘Always a drawback, there are always detracting elements to the Force,’ Silas fumed. Seeing no practical application for Taste, Silas next looked toward the mastery of hearing. ‘Certainly being able to eavesdrop on hostiles from immense distances carries no impracticality as sight magnification,’ Silas mused before releasing his iron grip over the cavalcades of energies he had drawn focus. Granting his self a momentary respite Silas then altered the epicenter of his drawn focus toward his ears. Sitting down and resuming a meditative pose once more Silas recognized the futility of attempting to simply use his perch toward his success. Once more Silas touched upon the flow of the Living Force, and with the deft touch of a master redirected its rushing current towards the core of his being.
Simultaneously, the Echani Lord trapped the flow and directed it to his ears. In contrast to his efforts with magnifying his sight the goal of Silas’s efforts was not to simply use his great strength within the force. Instead, Silas ended his manipulations by not only harnessing the Force toward his physical ears but by connecting his self to the flow of the Living Force and reaching out to the courtyard of the palace. ‘Hearing sharper will not circumvent distance by itself. The Force should be able to carry with it the words of those beyond me. Together this may just succeed,’ Silas contemplated as he honed his efforts. Closing his eyes to sever a sense entirely in efforts to maximize his focus, Silas attempted to listen out past the gentle breeze that passed across his flesh. In time, the shouts of changing guard details met Silas’s ears. ‘Several hundred meters, not bad but not nearly clear enough,’ Silas mused. Minutes passed with no further gains yet Silas continued undeterred. “I wish Silas could just worry about what he has here…” Like a bolt of lightning the errant thought from Lady Idaan as she walked toward the palace gates lit Silas’s consciousness. ‘Amazing, however, this is likely due to our own bond more than an improvement of the technique,’ Silas noted before turning his attention westward. The view from the soon-to-be named Karn Tower had always included the picturesque view of the Silver Sea. Silas had always longed to visit the resort like coasts but now he had the opportunity to benefit from the scenery nonetheless. It took greater focus and his head began to feel numb form his exertions but regardless the serene echoes of the small waves met his supernaturally enhanced hearing.
‘These new arts will take time to incorporate. Longer to fully master,’ Silas remarked internally. Opening his eyes and looking around the ornate stone that surrounded him Silas considered the last two senses offered to sentient's. “Smell would not likely serve me as it does the lesser races that have adapted over millennia to benefit from its augmentation. Which leaves only touch,” Silas discussed aloud to an audience of one. Raising his right hand toward his face Silas shook his head. “No, nothing that would serve in battle,” Silas spoke before heading out to the courtyard his self. Back at ground level Silas honed his craft. The long walk had allowed him to rest enough for Silas to make further attempts to at magnifying his profound senses. After a short greeting he deliberately send the nearest patrolling captain on a seemingly senseless errand. Channeling the Force to his ears Silas waited as the man took his leave. “Pompous jerk, it’s a shame the council failed to end him.” Silas smiled menacingly. The captain had left normal audible range even for Echani, and yet had just earned his self a swift exile for his self and his household. “Well then, no further refinement is needed. As sight has very limited applications,” Silas narrated still bitter regarding the limits of his own sentience.
