“Water connects all things, life to death, darkness to light...”

THEME: THE WAY OF WATER — AMBIENT SOUNDSCAPE

The torrential ice storm billowed around her, sleet pelting against her pale skin and white tunic as Rabé stood several meters above ground level at a frozen cliffside. The hailstorm did little to make her physically uncomfortable, which, unknown to her, was because of her Arkanian heritage. She reached out with her feelings just as her master had shown her several days prior. Almost immediately, she felt it. That strange, ethereal sea, that was simultaneously around her, and in her.

Rabé knew this sea. She was no stranger to it. She had basked in its soothingly cool embrace for as long as she could remember, indeed even before she had begun to form any memories. It had been her mother's womb — the cloning tank on Durace, which she had formed and grown up in. The water — the source of all life, and her life — was protective, keeping her from hurting herself, nourishing her, and strengthening her limbs. It had done so always, was still doing so, and would always do so as long as she let it...

The sea. The water that formed it was a part of the glacier beneath her feet, and in every snowflake and particle of hail that pelted against her toughened hide. It raged, yet there was subtle wisdom in its rage. It was angry at her because she had known of it, but before her Master had taught her how, she had never tried to know it. The sea wanted to quench her thirst, to submerge her in the higher knowledge of its finest mysteries, yet she was incognizant of its reality. The water connected all things, life to death, light to darkness. It was the subtlest of subtleties, yet it was the greatest power in the galaxy.

She understood now. What her Master had meant...

Deep blue eyes opened, as she extended her right palm, both physically and spiritually reaching out. She felt the barriers around her heart, which she had somehow put up herself at some point in her short and exotic life, give way, unlocking with a click. The dam burst. The water gushed in as a torrent. The sea of the cosmos filled the cup of her heart to the brim and overflowed. To her, a sea, yet her Master had called it...

"The Force..." she gasped, the thirst of her spirit quenched, even as the hailstorm around her instantaneously calmed into gently descending snowflakes.
