The Jedi Coalition
Posted: Sat Sep 16, 2017 5:08 am
Due to the IC neutrality of the Jedi Coalition, it's IC alliance with the Galactic Alliance, and that OOC it is part of the Galactic Alliance faction the following policies have been adopted to help expand and broaden the Jedi of Sithlore.
The Jedi Coalition will accept new members from all walks of Sithlore, this includes independent players and members of factions other than the Galactic Alliance, excluding Darkside Orientated Force Users and Sith.
In addition to the requirements for becoming a Jedi Master, under this new policy of acceptance from outside the Galactic Alliance/Jedi Coalition Sithlore faction all Jedi Knights wishing to obtain the rank of Jedi Master are asked to serve a period of time as an active member of the GA as the host faction of the Jedi Coalition.
The Antarian Rangers as a part of the Jedi Coalition are open as well to new recruits from outside of the Galactic Alliance under the same guidelines.
A brief introduction to the Jedi Coalition:
The Jedi Coalition was formed by the Jedi in response to the changing nature of the Jedi Order. With the number of Jedi Knights sharply decreased due to the horrors which occurred during the Republic Civil War in which Taris was destroyed, and with the remaining Jedi spread across the galaxy, the new Jedi Coalition is a body that cannot be destroyed, and that will always strive on. Its main aim is to follow the truest and most important ideals of the Jedi Order of the Old Republic, to bring order and peace to the galaxy.
Note to any potential new faction members:
The Jedi have no allegiance to any particular political party, though they do support the ideals of the Galactic Alliance. The Jedi Coalition is still in a state of self repair and conservation. Whilst it is simple enough to contact the Jedi, their whereabouts is a matter of secrecy in order for the Jedi to remain safe and away from danger. Please be wary of this fact when roleplaying seeking out the Jedi on any planet where a temple or Enclave is located (especially in the Unknown Regions where their presence is not openly advertised).
FACTION UPDATE: The Jedi Coalition has reformed the 'Antarian Rangers', a group of non-Force users who are loyal to the Jedi and who are highly trained in survival, espionage and combat.
FACTION UPDATE: The Jedi have joined the Galactic Alliance and have begun to work their way back into the galaxy proper. The Galactic Alliance's main link to the Jedi Coalition is the Jedi temple aboard Koda Station, though the Jedi do expect to move some of their most remote temples back into the civilized galaxy in the near future.

FACTION UPDATE: The Jedi Council, decimated in the Duel on Ruusan, has been reformed into a Jedi High Council. Led by the Grand Master of the Jedi Coalition, the Jedi High Council ensures that more Jedi Masters hold voice in the decisions of the Coalition.
Jedi Ranks:
The Jedi Coalition is split between the three main ranks;
- Jedi Padawan (the lowest rank)
- Jedi Knight
- Jedi Master (the highest rank)
There is also the leader of the Jedi Coalition, the Jedi Grand Master.
Jedi Grand Master is the leader of the Jedi Coalition, and perhaps the wisest of all Jedi. The Grand Master is also the leading voice in the Jedi High Council and is responsible for administering to the needs of the Jedi, and for teaching other Jedi about the path they must take.
Jedi Master is the highest rank of the Jedi Coalition. A Jedi Master has shown exceptional skill and mastery of the Force, as well as proven themselves worthy through countless extraordinary deeds.
Jedi Knight is the most common rank of the Jedi Coalition. A Jedi Knight is one who has shown an advanced level of understanding of the Force, as well as shown excellent skill in battle. Gaining this rank involves completion of the Jedi Trials. Jedi Knights are officially seen as active members of the Jedi Coalition and are free to train themselves, as well as others.
Jedi Padawan is the lowest rank of the Jedi Coalition. A Jedi Padawan is one who is currently receiving training in the Force from a higher ranking Jedi. They are generally of low skill.
Paths of the Jedi Knight:
Once a Jedi Padawan has successfully completed their trials and have become a Jedi Knight, they are encouraged to find their place amongst the Jedi Coalition. There are three main paths that Jedi Knights can follow; Jedi Consular, Jedi Guardian, and Jedi Sentinel.
The Jedi Consular relies more on Force abilities than combat, preferring to study the Force and its mysteries rather than using it in battle. They are the ambassadors of the Jedi Coalition.
The Jedi Guardian combines physical training with mastery of the Force. They concentrate on lightsaber combat, defensive powers, and battle prowess. They are the defenders of the Coalition.
The Jedi Sentinel strikes a balance between the diplomacy and Force mastery of the Consular, and the physical and combat mastery of the Guardian. They often act as police, seeking out the evil in the galaxy.
There are also other paths a Jedi can take if they so wish, which are a bit more specialized. These include, but are not limited to, Jedi Healers and Jedi Investigators. A more complete list can be found here on Wookieepedia.
Jedi Temple Locations:
The Jedi have a number of temples all across the galaxy from which they fight for justice and peace. The main temple is located on a safeworld planet, codenamed Permafrost. This temple is actually a grand enclave complex, known officially as the Permafrost Jedi Enclave, or just Jedi Enclave. A former scene of battle during the Galactic Civil War under Palpatine, the Jedi have now moved in and modified the area to serve as the main hub of Jedi activity, as well as to be the meeting location of the Jedi High Council, main Jedi Archives, and the Jedi Academy. Its location is kept quiet whilst the Jedi Coalition rebuilds itself after their exile into the Unknown Regions. Being an enclave with most of the building being underground, makes it inconspicuous, with only a large structure created from natural terrain visible on the surface. The other Jedi Temples in the galaxy are smaller in size and often help people get in contact with the Jedi Coalition.
Advice for new members:
- Jedi Knight is the most common rank of Jedi. As such, when you reach level 5 or above and have completed your trials, you will become a Jedi Knight.
- Trials can be roleplayed alone or with a master, but be aware that a solo RP will be watched carefully by one or more masters, who will warn you if they think you're heading in the wrong direction. More details on trials can be seen below.
- Don't roleplay going onto an enemy's planet (e.g. Coruscant or Ziost) unless necessary. This should be common sense, as I don't suppose anyone particularly wants to be captured.
- Never flash your lightsaber around. If no one knows you're a Jedi, try to keep it that way as far as IC posts are concerned. The minute you ignite your lightsaber and try to cut your way out of a problem, trouble is going to follow in many cases. Your lightsaber is your last defense. Remember that Jedi are peaceful, and to fight is a last resort.
- Regarding both OOC and IC threads, if you feel someone is attacking you, indirectly or directly, don't post irrationally. Simply keep calm and deal with it sensibly. Keep the Jedi name as squeaky clean as possible.
- Should you find yourself in a battle thread, remember this: for Jedi, fighting is defensive, not offensive; for protection, not aggression. Sure, you can fight, and if someone charges at you with several very large guns then I suggest you do. Just remember, you are a Jedi, and you should try to act like one.
- You should tone your roleplay Force skills to your actual technical roleplaying mechanics. For example, if you have Sense 1, Control 1 and Alter 1, and a character with Control 2 is hiding his thoughts, you shouldn't be able to probe them. If you have Control 0 and a person with Sense 3 is sensing you, or attempting to, your mind should be pretty open. It's the same with anything else - if you're Sense 1 you shouldn't expect to feel, hear, and know everything around you, as even a Sense 3 may have trouble. Try to keep it realistic.
- Listen to any advice a Jedi Master or a more experienced roleplayer gives, and try to take it on board. Don't feel they're criticizing you; its encouragement.
- When training, try to keep it realistic. If you have been granted the rare 'Strong with the Force' status by a Force moderator then you are likely to learn much faster than if you have not, but either way: your character is new to the Force, and everyone has a few problems when they start out.
- The Academy forum has more information on Force powers and the suchlike so that will be your scripture when it comes to Force training, as opposed to what is listed on the outdated SLIU. The rules have been altered to allow you to train without a Master now but be aware that there are NPC masters here for that purpose to keep it realistic and also that our PC masters are more than happy to lend a helping hand.
The Jedi Trials:
Once you reach Force User Level 5 or higher, and feel you are ready to attempt the trials of knighthood, then you may go ahead and roleplay them. Whether you chose to do it solo or have someone accompany you, post a link to it somewhere so that it can be watched by an experienced PC Jedi who will let you know how you are getting on and keep you on the right track.
The trials consist of two parts: the construction of a light-weapon (most commonly a lightsaber), and a test of physical and/or mental strength, as well as your dedication to the Jedi Coalition.
Lightsaber construction consists of finding the parts for your saber, including a crystal and then the actual construction of the lightsaber with aid from the Force. It requires at least 750 words of quality RP for it to be accepted in the SLIU. Other light-weapons have differing word reqirements depending on the skill and time needed to create them.
The second part of the trials could be one of four things: the Trial of Skill, the Trial of the Flesh, the Trial of Courage, or the Trial of the Spirit. This part requires you to do something: be it a test of your Force skills or your bravery and control. If you are having trouble thinking up ideas then feel free to ask others for guidance and suggestions on what you could do.
Should you complete these two parts, you will move from the rank of Padawan to Knight within the Jedi Coalition.
To move from a Jedi Knight to the rank of Jedi Master there are five prerequisites:
1) Must be Force User Level 10 or higher (and as such show excellent mastery of the Force).
2) Must have at least 20 Force powers.
3) Must have Sense, Control and Alter at level 3.
4) Must have alignment to the Light side of the Force.
5) Must show evidence that they have trained other Jedi in using the Force and/or taken on a Padawan learner.
The Jedi Coalition will accept new members from all walks of Sithlore, this includes independent players and members of factions other than the Galactic Alliance, excluding Darkside Orientated Force Users and Sith.
