Rhoden flipped through the controls on instinct, preparing himself for battle. The Firehawk was a fine vessel; but he really should see about finding something better. Maybe an Action V; though that was off-putting if only for the lack of weaponry. Speaking of weaponry... he'd been wanting a TIE Defender for a while; though that was more a matter of paperwork and availability than actual price.

"All systems ready, no last minute failures, still have a tin-can off-aft." Haly said in a bored tone, "Think of it like target practice." Rhoden suggested, "The simulators are more challenging." she countered. Rhoden smiled, but he didn't actually have a good response to that one.

Warvanus checked his instruments as he proceeded along his flight path. He looked at his co-pilot one of those piloting droids which had proven useful to the Sith Lord. It would be put to the test if he had to hit the turret but something in his gut told him that it wouldn't come to that, at least that is what he had hoped. A instrument indicator brought the Sith Lord out of his reverie he looked down at it, he did not quite understand it but he had to check it out.

He looked at the co-pilot "Maintain Course" With that he rose and headed to the back of the ship.

Once he arrived in what he surmised was the engine room, he could see the culprit, One of the coolant hoses was lose and as a result the ship indicators picked it up as a pressure drop. "Reroute the cooling pump flow to the auxillary" he called to the cockpit

Shortly the loose pump stopped hissing and Warvanus with the use of a tool was able to re-secure it and tighten it.

"Ok switch to primary" he called to the cockpit again

There was a definite change in the sounds of the ship but there was no hissing. He put the tools back into their compartment conviently located in the engine room and then made his way to the cockpit , the indicator that had been lit, was no longer giving a warning caution light.

He took his seat and resumed control of piloting the ship

The Captain’s gaze was fixed to the HUD, his eyes flitting about with nervous energy. The seconds timer ticked down for what seemed like an eternity, until at last the cockpit view reverted to realspace. Much to Doren’s relief, the Proudclad was not met with guns blazing, and it appeared the raiding party had arrived some yalms away from there intended target. Further still, the absence of any hostile patrols lended to the assumption that whoever was pushing their luck, they were doing so in relatively small numbers. This was a relief indeed: a smaller convoy guaranteed a swift battle, and an even swifter resolution.

Vassyl set about redistributing orders, now intent on taking a more-offensive approach to the strike team’s errant prey. Drawing up in a daggerhead formation, the Imperial-Sith fighter group would capitalize on their superior speed to cut off whatever unsuspecting freighter they encountered along the way. Though deep space probe had offered no new intelligence since the initial infraction, whoever was responsible had left an ion trail that was easily followed. Now, with weapons hot and anticipation mounting, the Captain led the force ahead at maximum speed. It wouldn’t be long now.

Doren’s predications ultimately rang true: the skirmish was indeed short. In little to no time, the pirate forces had been routed or captured, with any fleeing the scene bitterly tossing their cargo up to the cosmic winds. It was a simple victory, and one not often enjoyed or appreciated at present within the Empire. Now, there was naught left to do but begin the formal mission report. Reclining comfortably in the upholstered flight seat of the Proudclad, Vassyl began to draft a concise rendering of the situation. The Captain made the major players of the engagement painfully evident, or at least, as evident as could be permitted. Their Sith friends, coded as ‘Sigma Assets’, would not go unnoticed for their contributions to the engagement. Fair was fair after all. After all, for the sake of the Armistice, keeping record of positive encounters surely would not go to waste.
