Kalidor Freight: 0319

***Sluis Van Shipyards***

“Are those components loaded yet?” The elder Jedi Master inquired to the deck personnel as they scurried about their work. Just a simple yet credible shipment, Kalidor Freight had been recently contracted by the Fondor Shipyards to transit a hefty payload of electrical components from the Sluis Van Shipyards. Apparently there had been a pretty big mixup and originally the intended components had found their way to the wrong shipyard! Quite an embarrassing predicament; yet the deed was done and now a set of large cargo containers needed to somehow get from here to there. Capitalism in the Alliance afforded swift transit if only the Alliance Military was willing to pay and so it did in the form of a single transit contract.

Kalidor Freight 01 was currently pulling up and away from the orbital dockyards under the command of Jedi Knight Asori Spero and her team of RX-24 Pilot droids. She’d arrived a day earlier thanks to her having set this transit deal up and that Jedi Master Ben Kenobi had been shipping foodstuffs to Koda Station and had just now gotten a chance to arrive here at Sluis Van.

Time since then had dragged on in a lonesome toil, watching the loadmasters argue over docking rights and trying to get the paperwork shoved through the administration levels. Perhaps the perfect time for a little meditation on the last couple of months which themselves had been a rush of activity…

She was going to come along, this time entrusted to help escort. This was quite a huge step for her, she just hoped she didn't accidentally go the wrong direction. Kubu kind of just waited in her ship for the signal to follow suit. The navigation point was preput in to minimize her chance of error. With her though she was good at causing problems.

She sat waiting, the loading seemed to be taking forever. It was kinda hard just sitting there waiting for the convoy to get off the ground, but she didn't know how long it was supposed to take anyway. Kubu simply watching for the symbol to take off. There was really nothing else she could do, it's not like she was helpful in this situation.

When they were finally done, she saw the symbol and took off slowly. She was still slowly getting used to flying, this was supposed to be a straight forward thing. Only thing she needed to do was to push a few levers once the convoy jumped. Kubu had been coached several times not to touch anything else.

Loaded to the brim, the two BFF-1 Freighters of Kalidor Freight were on their way. It had taken entirely too long and they were gravely behind schedule. Ben tapped his chrono with a finger, disappointed that he couldn’t urge the freighter’s to spin their engines up any faster. They were cargo haulers not swift starships. The only way to make them arrive at a promptly appointed time was to extend the hours of the operation or begin the operation earlier. Otherwise it could be expected that such delays would occur.

Resigned to the long arduous haul ahead, Ben Kenobi sat back into his bucket seat and thanked the Force it was a comfy one. He took up his large mug of caf and sipped away as the pair of freighters slowly plied their way to the far edge of the gravity well and within the span of forty-five minutes they managed to finally make the jump to hyperspace. After of course transmitting their jump data over to the navicomputer of their lone escort.

Ben thought of Kubu in that moment and hoped she would do well. To his knowledge this was her first time really flying on her own and much could go wrong. But while he was conscious to her well being he was also confident in her capabilities to get this job done.

They were finally ready and sent the signal, Kubu pushed the buttons as she was taught. The ship took off, she moved the ship into formation. "Kubu is ready to go." The Droid said over the com. It was better for the Droid to talk rather than her. She knew what was going on, so unless there was an issue she would not talk. She made sure to keep her focus on the controls and the other ships.

Once she got the que she pushed the button that would cause her ship to jump. Space jump was something she had encountered before. Kubu just watched after she jumped, making sure she didn't push or pull anything. Her destination was present so she didn't need to do anything else till the screen beeped at her. This was a little weird, but she just hoped to get where everyone else was going.

Hyperspace was likely one of the most boring settings one could be captured within. There was little if anything to really do and the route of hyperspace was essentially a straight tunnel of bright colors. Despite this the Jedi Master was making the best of the issue as he now discarded his position within the bucket seat and now sat cross on his knees upon the deck with his head bowed in quiet meditation. Simple exercises learned as a Padawan served well when faced with a lengthy trip through hyperspace.

Within his meditation he reflected on the issues brewing in the Mandalore Sector. Only recently had the Mandalorian Civil War ended and here it was threatening to flare up again. Ben was not a pessimist by any stretch of the imagination but he’d always suspected that the nature of the Mandalorian people wouldn’t allow the ceasefire made on the backs of Clan Sorell between Clan Bralor and Clan Ordo to ever truly last. The grudges of those people were legendary and this was no exception. He only hoped that the past mistakes wouldn’t repeat themselves as in the refugees flooding away from the Sector which caused many families to become displaced and separated, some to never reunite to this day.

Then there was Cerea, the Imperial Inquisitor Prazutis had been encountered there and so the Alliance Navy was bringing security up to a new level of scrutiny. The Alliance - Imperial war was not easy on the citizenry. It was a shame but it was how things were.

He continued to meditate, for the coming days he would need clarity of mind and purpose. Indeed, the next days would be interesting times…

Fondor, a world of industry. It was one of the worlds in the Galaxy that hardly slept. Specifically the massive orbital shipyards. When the twin BFF-1 Bulk Freighters of Kalidor Freight dropped out of hyperspace they were well within view of the structures and their scale took Ben’s breath away even though he’d seen them before many times. Even now a mighty warship of the Alliance Navy was in the drydocks with hundreds of laser torches across its chassis and within the arms of the repair yards there were many more vessels undergoing steady repairs, some of them of the MC-class cruisers.

Instantly or almost so, they were hailed by the port authority. Meanwhile the scanners were already picking up a flight group of E-wing Interceptors on route to their location. While the shipment of components was scheduled and expected, the Empire’s latest mischief had set this quadrant of the Alliance on high alert and security was tight no matter where it was.

“Fondor Control this is Kalidor Freight, we’ve arrived on schedule and are awaiting a docking order. Transmitting our clearance now.” Ben finished and shot the documents that would clear them to dock over to the command and control hub of the Fondor Shipyards.

They’d arrived, a job well done…

The ride was quite, not like she could hold a real conversation with any one other than the Droid. Kubu sighed, she really needed to do something about that but basic was so hard. The screen started to beep which meant it was time to hit the button to pull out of hyperspace. So she did as she was told to do several times.

When she pulled out she could see the rest of the shipping crew. Kubu made sure she would follow suit, she was just glad she didn't accidentally go somewhere else. So this was a step in the right direction, she was learning. Proof that she was trainable, it made her feel good in the moment.
