Guidance on Writing Force Applications

This message is not directed at anyone in particular, nor is it directed at any one group on the site. Consider this a general reminder of what you should be including in your Force applications and what your expectations are from the Force Moderators.
First and foremost, please everyone understand that Force applications are a means for you to prove to the Force Moderators that you have a complete understanding of the ability you're applying for. This includes an understanding of:
In the process of writing your Force application, you should be providing to me the process of your character learning how to use the Force ability. Detail is the name of the game. You should tell me what your character is feeling. How are they interacting with the Force? What allows them to use that ability? Do they overreach their control of the Force and face a setback? Are they applying knowledge from an ability they already know? Does your character piece the ability together, or try to learn it all at once?
Describing the process is essential and it shows understanding. Think of it this way... The beginning of each application is the same as your character jumping into a pond for the first time or hopping onto a bike for the first time. The end of the application is your character swimming or pedaling away. You know from real life experience that you can't swim or ride a bike if you haven't built up the coordination and experience to do so. That's the meat of your application! You must provide detail of how your character is gaining that experience and that familiarity with using the Force in order to successfully use the ability they're aiming to learn.
Do you fall off the bike every now and then? Yes! That counts toward your word total. Stumbling along the way is natural and it enriches your application. I greatly approve of facing some setbacks every now and then, as long as you learn from them and overcome them. You're exploring uncharted territory for your character, in most cases. Facing some challenges along the way is natural.
I realize that some of this is most applicable to abilities, but the concept is fairly similar with regards to Force Level and Control/Sense/Alter applications. You're showing growth in the Force, whether it be general growth or growth in one of the three categories of Force use. Detail that growth. Show the Force Moderators that you're pushing your limits in those areas. Lose control or focus if you attempt to bite off more than you can chew. That counts. Use and maintain multiple Force abilities together at once. Describe in detail the mental or physical strain that doing something like that takes on your character. That counts!
What I do not want to see is an application where you show me that your character learns or discovers an ability in a few sentences, and then the rest of the application displays all the ways you're going to use it. That would be an example of you skipping the process of learning the ability, since you showed no growth. You went from hopping on the bike to riding away without describing anything in between. If you do not see the difference between describing the process of learning an ability and what I just now described as an example of an unacceptable application, you must let me know.
We have a team of Force Mentors on this site who can help you with your understanding of using the Force and Sithlore's Force system. These are members who are specifically chosen by the Force Moderators for their mastery of the Force system. It doesn't matter if you are a Jedi, a Sith, or something in between. These users will help you if you have questions and you should feel free to contact them.
Please post below with any questions or concerns. Off-topic posts will be deleted.
First and foremost, please everyone understand that Force applications are a means for you to prove to the Force Moderators that you have a complete understanding of the ability you're applying for. This includes an understanding of:
- What the ability is used for
- How your character interacts with the Force to use that ability, and
- The limitations of that ability.
