Re: Hello There
Welcome to Sithlore, Corren. Or Mr. Bain, rather. I'll stick to the Mr. Bain, since the name triggers me. ~Glares at Rev~
Another Sithian here to open our doors to a potential Acolyte. Simply say your homes name and post a 'Come get me' kinda thread in Docking Bay, and someone will come and snag you good.
Enjoy your stay in this wonderful little place.

Re: Hello There
Other people with similar names eh? As the phrase goes: great minds think alike. But thanks for the general info, and while I've 'got your attention' so to speak I may as well get your opinions on the current concept I have in mind since I think it'll be something I'll enjoy. A tl;drish version so not to bore. I don't have any real plans of what direction his character and story will go, since the character is written in a way that means he could find purpose in many different walks of life.
'Corren Bain' is basically a prime example of why humans and miraluka should be wary about having children. His father was a farmer on Dantooine and as fate would have it,he crossed the path of a force sensitive fleeing the Imperial Inquisition but months before the destruction of the second death star. This young force sensitive was not a Jedi though. She was a Sene Seeker of the Luka Sene, a Miralukan force organisation; who had been caught up in the Imperial hunt for force adepts to convert to the dark side or dispose of. The young farmer sheltered the sene seeker on his family's farm for a time, and in this time of desperation and fear the pair found comfort in each other. The sene seeker was eventually found by an Imperial Inquisitor and Corren's father perished defending the miraluka, who was forced to abandon her newly born child with his uncle and aunt and flee into the galaxy once more.
The problem was, Corren Bain was born blind. It could have been worse, he could have grown skin over his eye sockets, or simply have not been born with eyes at all. But his eyes were useless and so his childhood was an uphill struggle. The Miraluka's natural affinity and reliance on force sight was not something gifted to Corren, coming to him only in brief sporadic periods of stress as his sensitivity to the force slowly awoke. His mum never returned to teach him. Despite the handicap Corren did live a largely happy childhood, although the possibility of somehow restoring his natural sight as become an obsession.
The events of the galaxy did not really affect Corren whilst he grew up asides from one of the battles during the Vong invasion that devastated the planet. But Bains have a genetic disposition toward being stubborn, and the family pulled through. The deaths on his planet and his inability to see the Vong even through his fledgling force sight made him terrified of the creatures. Ironic, since their biotech may in fact be something that could restore his sight.
Now barely an adult, Corren has left Dantooine to try and blindly (pun intended) roam the galaxy. He's gotten a few hyperspace jumps away on the good will of others, but there's not too much a blind man can do to earn his keep on the hyperspace lanes. But nonetheless he hopes that he will find purpose in the galaxy. Or perhaps it will find him...

Daredevil!
Or Kanan Jarrus, if you become a Jedi!
Nice backstory though. Hope he finds his Mom out there!

Re: Hello There
Looks good.
Just wanted to put up a couple things that you may find are different here on the site.
1.) Force Sensitivity. This is not something characters can use until this is applied for/approved of. To begin with, your character may be sensitive to the force, but generally be unaware of it/unable to 'use' it until their 10 days into roleplaying on the docking bay forum. If that makes sense? So maybe you can describe it as him not necessarily knowing he's force sensitive yet- but was really good at getting an idea for where he was, and being really 'lucky'... Get my drift?
--This will probably make more sense the more you talk to people here on the site. But we have a force system here that is based on background stats for each character. You have to apply for your force sensitivity, and for each level of force use, and separate powers.etc etc.
2.) The vong worked a little differently in the sithlore universe. Though i'm sure the little tidbits you've provided are fine/enough.
Sounds like the makings of a good character, though!

Re: Hello There
Hey, first off, welcome to SL. Glad to have ya! Second, wanted to address what Dastan said there. He's mostly right, but as someone who has RPed a Miralukan in the past, I think what you have is perfectly acceptable, though one of the mods could say for sure. Since it's not something he's 'using' so much as a part of who he is, I think it makes sense for the character and doesn't break the spirit of the rules for the Force system here. With that in mind, I'd be more than happy to help you navigate that (as I'm sure many others would, too.)
Regardless, welcomed to SL!

Re: Hello There
Don't worry, the rulings on the force make a lot of sense. Kind of like it that way. The force can be a pretty powerful thing so you don't want any random person rolling a force sensitive in case they plan to become abeloth or something. I can happily go with him being largely unaware of his force sensitivity. If I wanted to take a page from the original trilogy I might even say he's unaware that one of his parents was even force sensitive in the first place, let alone a Miraluka.
The feedback's much appreciated!

Re: Hello There
Hello! My character, Vek, is a former Imperial who defected to the Alliance, so don't feel pressured to pick a side. That said, Vek is highly skilled at shooting stuff not on the same side as him. Again, no pressure. ^^
I left home, to search the stars. I found life, among the wars. I lay adrift, left to roam. I will seek, a true new home.
