The smuggler's life is the one for me

Hello everyone!

I just got here and I hope I'm doing everything right! I haven't RPed in a while (like... 6 years I think?) but I really want to get back in it and I love the Star Wars universe so here I am! Also, English isn't my first language so I do apologize if I do any grammatical errors.

About my character, she's a female human, smuggler and former slave. I'd say she's part of the Gallactic Alliance but more as a free lance type of deal, if that's possible. She takes jobs from everyone but does tend to help the Alliance more often than not.

Meera was born on Nar-Shaddaa, the daughter of a cook and a gladiator, both slaves owned by Kasa the Hutt. Her father died in the arena when she was still a teenager, killed by a Mandalorian champion. At the death of her husband, Meera's mother lost her mind and her will. She continued serving her master, never thinking of disobeying him or becoming free. She neglected her own daughter who had to fend for herself. Since then, Meera has worked hard, using the training that her father taught her, to become a gladiator as well and win her freedom by fighting. At 19 years-old, she defeated her father's killer and Kasa set her free. She tried in vain to convince her mother to follow her and had to take the first starship out of Nar Shaddaa alone.

She left for Jedha where she met a notorious smuggler, Rainee Zaine, who became her mentor. For the next several years, she traveled with her and her astromech droid, an old T3 model that had never had a memory wipe, fondly nicknamed L005 80LT (or Eltee). When Rainee retired, she left her modified smuggling freighter and her droid to Meera and bought a cottage on a tropical planet somewhere in the Mid-Rim. Meera kept her mentor's contacts and continues to do smuggling jobs left and right, earning enough money to get by.

I also wanted to ask if it was okay for my character to have a droid as an NPC and a ship from the start? If it's not possible and I need to acquire it throughout RPs, I'll change my bio!

Salutations! I’m loving the character backstory, and it sounds like you’ve a good idea how you’d like to proceed, whether your path lies with the GA or an independent group. As far as owning a ship and a droid is concerned, you’re welcome to them for the sake of story flavor, but unless you buy such items form the SLIU store, you will be unable to use them in combat against other player characters. That said, welcome aboard, best of luck, and I look forward to crossing paths in-character!

Obviously I won't use the starship and droid for combat, they're just there for story purposes! (hard to be a smuggler with no ship)

I should be posting on the Docking Bay thread tomorrow evening and we'll see how it goes from there!

Hi welcome on behalf of the alliance, we do have pirates here so if you'd rather be more free than it might be more of a fit. You are allowed npcs just not a lot, (no armies). We do have ships and droids in the store so they can be used in combat once your character officially owns them. They can be just story till that time though.

I was thinking about being a pirate but I think the Alliance would be a better fit. She's a smuggler but she still has a strong moral compass. I forgot to mention for example in my bio that, as a former slave, she tends to help any slaves she sees. She does illegal things but she thinks that it's a small price to pay for justice. Of course, if you guys think she should be a pirate, that's no problem either!
