Rok extended his hand, firmly shook his hand but briefly glanced at his hand. He noticed it was still trembling, probably because of how hard he had been gripping the control stick. It was understandable. He moved to the capsule, keeping engaged in the conversation and sorting through the fatigues. He pulled on the jacket, mostly because of how cold space was. After all, he'd spent the last day running through a barren, desert-like planet. Space was a bit of a step down in the temperature department and he didn't think he'd be running anytime soon, or he hoped so at least.

"Well." He paused, mostly as he reassessed what went wrong. "I may have not had entirely accurate intelligence on what was on this Imperial asteroid field station. I understood that it was processing enriched tibanna, for their capital ships? So, I flew in my old Y-wing, clone wars era, nothing special - may she rest in pieces - and attacked their orbital stabilizers on a maintenance cycle. I latched on the bottom of an Imperial repair frigate and popped off once she docked." He took a seat again.

"It went as planned, the station drifted and the asteroids did all the hard work, but then this cruiser just drops out of hyperspace and opens up, scrambling some kind of advanced TIE, has a tri sharp frontal appearance, never seen it before now. I jumped as soon as I could, losing one of my engines and crashing in the next system. Didn't take them long to be on top of me again. There was a pursuit, they locked down a whole trading port but I managed to escape by stealing that headhunter in your hanger bay and jumping to hyperspace inside the atmosphere. They somehow still tracked me though so, thanks for showing up when you did, captain." He shivered one more time, not because he was cold, but because he remembered sitting in the wrecked headhunter and feeling the ice forming on his controls.

"What was on that station really? I have no idea, but it really erked them when I pushed it a little. Must have been important."

Carth listened to Rok explains the incident that lead to his near execution. Honestly the Captain was surprised that Rok made it out alive. “Tie Phantoms,” he replied. “They’re some of the most dangerous and extremely rare, you’re one luck ace.” It also meant that the cruiser was probably some sort of black ops vessel. Carth noted that information so he could inform Intelligence afterwards. “Well I guess we owe you a thank you for taking out that compound, if it erks the Imps then it brings a smile to my face.”

Carth add a few notes to the data pad he was carrying, a short evaluation of Rok. “What do you fight for kid? And why alone?” He continued asking a set of questions he needed to ask before they reached Bespin and offered Mr. Vandar a job.

"I didn't start off alone." He paused, a brief memory of flying in a quadruple.

"Over time, attrition, bad luck and what not, four became one." He thought back to how easier things were in the past, but that was probably because they didn't put as much planning in as Rok did. After all, that's mostly why he was still around. He was a stickler for details. A chance had come to hit that facility a month earlier but he passed it up at the last minute because of a flight registry change. Ninety nine times out of a hundred that means nothing, but it could've been the difference between an easy job and being chased down by TIE 'Phantoms', or whatever the captain called them.

"I don't know if it was entirely luck or they just didn't believe my conviction to actually jump to hyperspace in lower atmosphere, but it paid off so I won't look back on it." He paused, "As for why I fight? I don't like bullies. Especially in the outer-rim. They had no business coming out here, but of course it 'was' business wasn't it? If they rounded up all their slave labour on the core worlds, they wouldn't have been able to survive, Star Destroyers, superweapons are useless without people. Obviously there's more to it, and every loss I suffered was met with more drive to poke them in the eye harder, because a poke in the eye was about the max you could hope for with a few clone wars relic bombers." He then thought of the facility.

"I do wonder what was actually going on in that facility though. Maybe it was a Moff's private retreat, but I like to think it was more of a strategic blow. Needless to say with the incompetent governors they've sent out to these backwater worlds, we got a few free hits in the first years, so I'll have to appreciate that one. But perhaps, you'll have an offer of more targets? Could really use the Hammerhead you've got here, I'm a big fan of the classics."

Rok was smart, tactical, and quite resourceful, Carth already liked him. He added the new information into his report before continuing. “Indeed, this classic has served us well for longer than anyone could have expected.” The entire vessel shook for a moment as it dropped out of hyperspace. A large gas giant with an Alliance fleet in orbit could be seen out the viewport in the room.

Carth glanced out at the view before returning his gaze to Rok. “Welcome to Bespin, if you really want more targets then the Alliance is more then willing to help you find them, if you’re willing to sign up.” The Corellian gunships could be see pulling away from the Hammerhead as it head straight for the world. “The Starfighter Corp and the Navy could use someone with your expertise if what you’re telling me about yourself is true.”

The ship shutter as it pulled through the atmosphere heading towards the floating city in the clouds. Cloud City was slowly becoming bigger to those watching out the window.

“The Winds of Change will be docking in Cloud City in five,” a male voice echoes through the ship’s intercom.

“What do you say Rok, want to start a new life and help take down the biggest bullies in Galaxy,” Carth asked as he keyed the door to open.

Staring out of the viewport, eyeing the floating city-base, levitating in the air in Bespin's cloud-like gases, he gave his assurance on the report.

"I'm sure Imp channels will be raging for sometime, maybe I'll hear later what was actually destroyed, but that should incriminate me enough to prove all of what I've said."

The offer of joining the Alliance rang true in his thoughts. After all it was what they as kids had emulated, young lads with Starfighters stirring up their own rebellion in the little pocket of planetary clusters they called home, giving the Empire all kinds of trouble. In a way, it was the natural succession for all of them, had they all made it this far. Rok wondered then, how many more recruits the Alliance would have, if the ones with the heart to fight for them, didn't have to endure such demanding journeys to get there.

"I'll join, of course. I may have a few ideas your Starfighter corps will enjoy - bomber, fighter, interceptor, I'll be happy." He paused, inhaling for a moment. "I should point out that I have no craft or even a helmet anymore."

Carth smiled, “no worries on that front kid. The Alliance doesn’t expect people to provide their own ships these days. Get accepted and through some basic training and they’ll throw you in a squad.” Carth looked Rok over, he was still wearing the out-patient clothing with the fatigues jacket.

“Get changed and meet me shore side,” Carth continued. “The guard outside your door will escort you off the ship when you’re ready.” With that Carth closes the door to Rok’s room and made his way to the boarding ramp. Several minutes later he was sitting on one of Cloud City’s many open air landing pads. He had turned in his report to Alliance Command and stood waiting for Rok to join him.

(Apologies for the delay! Just got back in.)

Rok quickly gathered his clothing, putting it on as quickly as possible but taking time to take a few bites from a meal that had been left for him on the side, presumably a lot earlier, at least it tasted as such. Once he was ready he headed for the door, dressed in his pale brown slacks, dark boots and a dark red jacket, with darker ribbed sleeves, covering a dark brown undershirt. He almost looked like he fitted in.

"This way please." The guard said, gesturing with his left hand and Rok followed.

As they passed down the hallway, he brushed past several Alliance military personnel, he assumed they were the crew. He was surprised at the diversity of the men, women and the rest, under his saviour's command. In one corridor he passed two Duros and a Sullustian, species who were shunned and oppressed from where he was from. Most of them didn't stick around, just those who had too much to leave or too much 'stubborn'.

He exited the ramp where crew were shifting cargo on and off the Hammerhead. Looking up, he saw the blue Bespin sky and admittedly was surprised, considering the only images he'd seen of the planet were in a orange hue.

"Morning - I think." He said to the captain, looking up at the sky.

(OOC: No worries mate, most of us were out for the holidays, I think from here one of the official Alliance folks will be jumping in to finish off your recruitment.)

The military Captain smiled as he spotted Rok coming down the Winds of Change’s boarding ramp. “I think it might be afternoon,” Carth replied. “Honestly I have a hard time keeping track of planetary times.”

He motioned for Rok to follow him as he started towards the blast doors. The two men stepped foot into the white halls of Cloud City, the section they were in was part of the military so the only men Rok could see were in uniform. They walked past several large windows which gave a view into the inner city. After a few more turns the two stopped in front of one of the many doors. Carth input his clearance code and the white door slid open.

It opened to a small waiting room with a secretary’s desk. In the chair was a Bothan who glanced up from his console as the two entered. “Ah Captain Dunnwood,” The Bothan spoke as though they knew each other. “Welcome back to Bespin. I assume this is the recruit you sent the file on?”

“It is indeed,” Carth replied. “Is anyone in to do a proper evaluation?”

“Yes of coarse,” the Bothan responded getting up from his chair. “Take a seat Mr. Vandar, I’ll be but a moment.” The alien stepped through a door that was behind his desk area.

(OOC: Welcome, friend. As soon as your ten days are up and you're on the IU, let me know and we'll get you properly processed into the faction. I'm your friendly neighborhood co-faction-leader and can help you with any questions you may have. Look forward to RPing with you.)

“Commander Vestra?”

“Yes, Lewin?”

“Captain Dunnwood is here to see you with a recruit. His file is on your commlink.” Vestra glanced down at his desk, examining the report and attached documents that detailed one ‘Rok Vander’. It took the greying human only a few seconds to skim through the dossier and extract the key details. When he was finished, Commander Vestra raised his eyes and nodded to his Bothan secretary.

“Send them in, Lewin,” he said. Lewin turned to follow the order, but paused, seeing a look cross Vestra’s face. Having spent as much time working for the man as he had, he knew to wait until Vestra processed whatever thought had come into his head.

“And Lewin...”

“Yes sir?” he asked in his gravelly voice.

“I want you to sit in on this one. I’ll need a second set of ears. Mine are all full of hair and not as good as they used to be,” Vestra said with a smile. Lewin wiggled his own, furry ears in response and couldn’t help but smile in return.

“Certainly, sir.” He returned to the waiting room, motioning for the two men to enter as he held the door open.
