Tatooine Nights
Re: Tatooine Nights
Great, Jak... you got yourself here. Now what?
Bouncing off the Mando's armor, Jak used a dash of his thrusters to flip back and land on one knee. This created a decent bit of distance between him and his armored nemesis, but within moments he realized the complication at his seven. Namely, the Gamorrean Guard who was blind with rage. He was hauling a heavy axe and howling towards Jak.
Just up ahead, Kori had drawn his beskad and begun a focused charge at the Pirate Captain. With two targets putting him on an immediate defensive, he only had milliseconds to decide when to attack. His next few moves would have to count. There's no telling how well-protected Kori was, so his blaster may work -- may not. The Gamorrean was heavy and running on adrenaline -- a deadly cocktail and the sole reason why Hutts kept them employed. As his mind rifled through solutions at lightspeed, Jak had an epiphany: physics.
He kicked off sideways with his grounded foot and holstered his gun. Lunging himself low to the shins of the charging Gamorrean, his plan was to use the beast's weight against him. It would hurt, but with the proper timing the tripping green behemoth would replace Jak's position in a moment's notice and send the black Mando's beskad down hard through the midsection of the guard. The only matter next would be neutralizing the remains, which he planned to do with the sawed-off CA-87 fastened at the top of his boot.

Re: Tatooine Nights
Colt was about to move... but then there was another figure, crashing into his target. He smiled momentarily, watching as the Gamorean fell, and the man righted himself... Jak Bexel? As he lived and breathed... if it wasn't the man who had, like himself, barely survived a battle with Jacobi Wylcott, before joining Kenobi's quest into the Alliance, last he had heard... that wasn't Alliance blues the man now wore. He watched the skirmish for a moment... then dropped suddenly. He landed with two heavier boots atop Skirata, twin tonfas humming to life in his hands. One with twin silver blades, the other twin purple, a long and a short on each one, as he spun them about in his hands, and let fly.
The trajectory would bisect any other pig-faced opposition if there was any... before spinning back into his waiting grasp, still in his golden clad form, he looked nothing like the man Jak had known before. As he stood atop Skirata, his eyes fell on Raphael...
"Kori Skirata, your clan would be ashamed of you, they fight proudly for all the Mandalores who have come before us," he said simply, his voice deeper thanks to the modulator in the helmet. Clan Skirata had served Clan Ordo, and fought with honor against Clan Bralor in the civil war Colt had tasked himself with ending. And their paths had caused an alliance between Clan Skirata and Sorrell... though Colt was a mediator... he was a part of their police force after all.
"You can join the Sith if you'd like," he told the Zabrak, "And be a slave to their foolish designs, stuck in a vicious loop of betrayal, never able to trust those beside you for fear of a knife to the back, or you can find freedom of choice, you can find some semblance of honor..." he added, focusing on the man, on any injuries he might have had... focusing inward... focusing on speeding his metabolism, just a bit. (Accelerate Healing).

Re: Tatooine Nights
Once again things happened quicker than the weary Zabrak could comprehend. The man with the silver eyes and terrifying demeanor had come close to him with a predatory grace. Hals had seen such being before, the very sight of them made him think of his childhood among the Hutts, surrounded by criminals and killers. As the man spoke, Hals coughed again, a bit of blood gracing his lips. He looked up in to those cold-looking eyes. His words made him seem even more like a predator, "pack", weakness. He just narrowed his eyes, fearing if he were to reply that he would coat the man in speckles of blood. His lungs were damaged from the broken ribs and his hands began to feel sticky from the terrible, green blood coating them. Just before he replied, his attention was drawn to the man with the jet pack. Skirata ended up slicing through a Gamorrean who had tripped in front of him. The blade cruelly carved the beast in half, it was so sharp that the Gamorrean didn't even bleed at first, nor did the beast seem to realize what had happened. It briefly glanced up at the Mandalorian, fear in it's eyes.
Skirata laughed a mechanical-sounding laugh from his helmet. It was pure entertainment to the man to watch other things suffer and endure the terror of a horrid death. He revelled in the horrors of combat. Stepping over the being's twitching lower half, he pounced after the man with the jetpack, his blade aiming for the man's right shoulder. It seemed to gleam with a strange sheen, the kind only a blade forged with Mandalorian iron would put off.
"My beskad is thirsty aruettii! Let it drink your weak blood!" hollered the Mandalorian warrior with the assured force that had brought many civilizations to his people's. If Hals knew one thing, it was Mandalorians were the best warriors in the galaxy, in ancient times they had trounced around the galaxy laying waste even to the powerful Sith and Galactic Republic.
As Skirata pounced through the air, like a nexxu towards prey, something golden crashed in to him. The black-clad warrior crumpled, sword skittering away. Hals watched in awe as some shining and colorful spun from the golden warrior's hand. It flew through the air, returning back to his grip. The Zabrak had lost any and all defiant words he was going to say to the silver-eyed man. Instead, he gazed in amazement at what appeared to be something he had only heard stories of. They were glorious, blades made of pure energy. The weapons of a Jedi Knight, a lightsaber. All he knew about them was from tales of the older beings around the Cartel headquarters. They could cut through almost any material, even turn blast doors in to nothing but a slag pile. He had seen a holovideo once of a Jedi General during the Clone Wars weaving in and out of enemy fire, spinning the blue blade of his lightsaber. Every move had been calculated, not even the Jedi's footwork had been wasted. They were the weapons that made even the toughest of gangsters and dictators lose their bravado.
"J...Jedi?"
Hals looked to the golden-clad warrior and then back to the supposed Sith as the man spoke. The idea of once again becoming enslaved had no appeal whatsoever. His eyes narrowed again and he clutched his knife hard, backing away from the predatory Sith. As he did so, he felt a sudden rush through his body, the pain slowly fading to a dull ache. His breathing started to improve, but not as quick as he would have liked. He backed himself toward his rescuers, carefully watching this Sith, from what he had learned they were the Jedi's evil counterpart. Terrible and awful sorcerers who possessed powers they used to kill and torture others. The Sith Lords had been the reason his father had even had a war to fight in, they were ultimately responsible for his death, at least in the Zabrak's mind.
"I will never be a slave again!" hissed Hals with all the venom he could muster.

Re: Tatooine Nights
The attention of the young acolyte turned swiftly to the battlefield again as a new pawn had been introduced to the game. His eyes gazed upon the man that battled their leader before them. The movements of the man were swift and precise; he was well trained in the art of combat. Quickly, Raphael was impressed with the man in how efficient he worked; yet, he was concerned at the ever-growing presence of adversaries. The hand of the acolyte recoiled back to hilt of the blade that sits on his hip. Odds are with no backup; the adept would never stand a chance against these two.
As the new pawn grew closer and closer Raphael started to recognize him. The two had met on his home planet of Mando’a. They had an interesting encounter as a quick greeting between his father and the man escalated rather quickly. Raphael remembered what Lord Blood had said about the waste of talent that was this man. This one truly followed no path. He had no purpose in life but to seek out and kill the Sith.
Once the pathless Jedi moved closer to him, Raphael straightened up and stood his ground. Raphael gave a brief greeting to the man as he wondered if he remembered him, “Colton…”
Raphael watched as the Zabrak moved out from near him, towards the egotistical man. “How pathetic, the Zabrak’s true colors show now…” Raphael thought to himself. As the poor little Zabrak whined out towards the silver eyed Sith, he couldn’t help but chuckle to himself. The two men who stand before him held very preconceived notions of who he was. They thought they knew the man the Sith, but they didn’t.
“You!” Pointing to the Zabrak, who in his eyes, was now whimpering on the ground, “You point the finger at me…Thinking I would attempt to enslave you? You don’t even live up to the standards to be a slave, weak and pathetic. Now, there no longer is an offer on the table. You will live out the rest of your like living in the same old pathetic ways that this man next to you does. Such a waste of potential you are.”
With that Raphael would now be done with the man, he figured he would follow along Colt for a while until his likely death under the tutelage of the weak man. If the man would have simply followed him on his path, they both would of achieved greatness. But it was better to cut the dead weight now than it would be in the future. The Zabrak didn’t have what it took, and that was clear to the acolyte now.
“And you…” His silver eyes finally met those of Colt’s, “You speak of honor, which you seem to think you possess. You and your ancient people are pathetic. Seeking out Sith to destroy them, when you don’t even register on their radar.”
Raphael took a deep breath in before straightening himself out, “The pack will surely see you soon, Zabrak…”
With that the young acolyte took his leave, turning completely around and moving toward the docking bay. The events that were still in the process meant nothing to him at this point, it was no longer his fight to be apart of. His pace intensified as he headed back to his father’s Infiltrator. The ramp of the ship extended down to meet the feet of the approaching acolyte. Raphael met his father on the ship, he was still preparing for the desert planet.
“Send a transmission to Dastan. The potential we sought out chose a different path, one he will soon regret.”

Re: Tatooine Nights
The collision into the guard's legs was successful but just a little painful. His 210 Praxis armor protected him well enough, but with the sheer force of it he could feel a rib crack upon impact. He rolled off to the side, kicking up sand around him. Leaping up to a squatted position he regained his footing and loosed the CA-87 from his boot holster. The Mando's black heart matched his armor, his lust for wanton violence and amusement at murdering his cohort so effortlessly sealed his fate in Jak's eyes. A concentrated blast from this electrical gun would combust him in his durasteel armor, and this pirate had no problem scratching another downed Mando onto his wall. Even his threat towards Jak - which he would have taken seriously at another time - fell hollow on his ears as he fantasized about felling this psychotic.
"Promises promises, pal," Jak dared, sawed-off 87 un-raised.
As Kori began his lunge, Jak readied himself to immolate the man. His finger on the trigger, he was timing it just right before the blade came crashing down. Just then - a gold glowing man in a jetpack crashed down hard on his prey. That's my move!, he thought to himself. And just like that, the promise of ridding the galaxy of another malcontent was in his rearview mirror. He took a closer look at the gold armor - Mandalorian as well! - and cocked his helmeted head to the side. His verbiage and demeanor were familiar.
"Colton?" He muttered under his helmet. Suddenly, the dark creature that he failed to see this entire time hissed the same name, and Jak knew his instincts were flawed but correct.
Small universe. Thankfully, the situation was relatively contained or else we'd see the destruction of many Mos Eisley city blocks. Relaxing for a moment, Jak watched the retort between the Sith and this Zabrak. So many sides in one battle, all for the fresh soul of a freed man. He felt upstaged by the supernaturally gifted players around him but nonetheless kept his composure as he knelt down by Kori. Finally, as the acolyte finished his bloviating and turned his back, Jak broke the silence with a concentrated electrical blast right onto the forehead of the captive Mando.
"Alright I guess it's my turn to begin my recruitment pitch too, so I'll begin with this: credits, weapons, and a shot off-world. Name the place, or I can just take you to Coruscant cause I have to be there anyway in a day or two. Either way, welcome to your life."

Re: Tatooine Nights
Colt watched the group briefly, feeling the Mandalorian beneath him move, he kicked out, hard, his head snapping to the side, and he stopped moving for the moment, though Jak could see he was still breathing.
"No, I'm no Jedi... but neither am I Sith," he said, "I'm merely a mentor, and commander of Mando Cabure, we keep other Mandalorians from causing trouble in the galaxy," he added, "But if my entire goal was to destroy all Sith, youngling, you wouldn't be standing here before me... no, I don't seek out Sith, and if I don't register on their radar, even better, my goals are to free those who can be freed from the chains of slavery, or of stupidity... How far gone are you, boy? Do you follow in the footsteps of your father, or the monster who enslaves him?" he asked Raphael, "You may leave," he added dismissively, then turned his attention toward Jak.
"A far cry from your days in the Alliance, I take it... looks good on you," he added, then once more, his gaze turned toward the Zabrak. "I can teach you, no matter which path you chose, this gentleman here," he motioned to Jak, "Is an honorable man, he won't lead you astray," he added, before he moved to hoist the unconscious Mandalorian to his feet, though he still slumped, he made it look effortless.
"The people associated with him are also those who would free slaves of their bonds, he'll take care of you... and you can find a small group of his people on Jakelia," he paused to look at both the Zabrak and the pirate... "Where you can find me as the Chief of Clan Sorrel, if they speak of the Jensaari, then know that it is me they talk of," he added, "You're welcome to go with either one of us, our paths will meet again regardless, I'm sure," he added. The Jensaari had risen up amidst the Mandalorian Civil War, fighting to end the war.
And he had succeeded, forming a Mandalorian Council with the Alliance's help, and formed the Mando Cabure, the Mandalorian Protectors, to maintain a peace amongst the galaxy and change the opinions of others toward the Mandalorian people... though he hadn't had a central role for the last three years, it seemed like he was back on the galactic stage.

Re: Tatooine Nights
Hals thought carefully of the proposal. He could live his life as the man in golden armor had, or choose to go with the man who came to his rescue on a jetpack. He wanted to desperately see the republic his father had fought to reinstate very badly. He needed to see it was worth it, his circumstances in life had all started at the death of the elder Sazen. If the galaxy was indeed that worth saving, he would hold no animosity towards it. He closed his eyes and focused his mind. Was it worth it to trust these strangers? They saved a man they had never met before, both of them honorable men. He could feel no strange cold feeling or hatred from them. He decided to open his eyes and looked to the man with the sawn-off blaster.
"If it would be alright, I would appreciate a ride to the Core Worlds. I do not wish to ever be a slave again and I think that might be a good, fresh start." With that, Hals put his knife in his belt and walked forward.
"I am Hals Sazen, what are your names?"
He was glad that the Sith had left, those terrible predatory, silver eyes were something of a nightmare. The horrible, angry way he spoke was not something Hals wished for himself or anyone else, something in his mind told him the man may have some kind of power, but was as deeply tortured as he was.

Re: Tatooine Nights
Jak double-tapped the side of his helmet, a programmed message for his ship to find his coordinates. Colton spoke honorable of him and it gave him pride -- and remorse. All this time, he had a resentment for Colton and his "kind", more notably for the scuffle that demolished his neighborhood in Coronet. Still, to understand that their instincts were shared and not manufactured gestures went a ways toward healing that divide.
"This old thing? A gift from my aunt's mother. She's Chiss -- starred in some holomovies," he responded to Colton, a coded message for his allegiance. "All the same, it's good to see you again. Let's do it again sometime under safer conditions."
With that, he offered his hand to the peacekeeper. Afterward, he turned to Hals.
"Name's Jak Bexel, but that's unimportant," he said, distracted by the approaching ship overhead.
Roaring down around them was his rust-tinted YT-2000 freighter, The Nice Jacket. It spun out into a landing sequence, kicking up some sand before the landing platform lowered to the ground.
"If there was one Sith here, you can bet they'll be more. They're nothing more than a pack of magic rodents. Deadly ones, they may be. We should leave now."

Re: Tatooine Nights
The golden armored man moved to throw the downed Mandalorian over one shoulder, glancing toward the pair before him. His head tilted just a bit.
"As I said, most call me the Jensaari, but my name is Colton Hunter, you can call me Colt," he allowed, glancing toward Jak once more, smirking beneath his helmet. "You'll find plenty of Chiss on Jakelia," he said simply, an answer to his code, perhaps. Bowing his head a bit he spoke again. "As it stands, though, Hals, I should probably get this riff raff back to his clan, don't let his name turn you off to our people, Skirata may have misjudged in the past, but they are good people," he added, then hesitated, "And the Force is far from magic," he said.
"If ever you have an interest in the Force, Hals, you come find me... but if you go with Jak here, and if he pulls you into any of his intrigues... well, you'll have a good start on being able to deal with the Sith... if you come find me, perhaps you'll be able to withstand everything they can throw at you... because he isn't lying, he'll be back, with a vengeance, and his father is not well," he stated. If Blood was around, and if the new Dark Lord showed up... that'd be a hell of a fight he didn't want. He had a plan, however, to mislead them...
"Look forward to seeing you both at Jakelia, Jak, make sure you come in on the seven ten galactic dark side... I have an Alliance camp near mine," he confessed, it had been a deal made with Ben Kenobi... an understanding... and one day, once he freed Adara... he'd free Ben too...
