Tatooine Blues

They had sacrificed their freedom and future for her... Catori Tawa, a nobody born and raised on Tatooine as a crook's daughter. Cheveyo, her father, failed to complete a mission to steal a ship (or rather, he refused as it belonged to good people, he said) and therefore lost his life as a free man and husband. Apparently it applied to his wife, Shiriki, her mother, as well... Only Catori was aloud to be free, as long as she agreed to work at the local bar. She didn't... she ran, as her father told her to do. "You got a chance to run, Catori, you have so much to accomplish... having you was enough for us, you're so special to us... The Force is with you my love, I know it is... now go!"
She remembered that night all too clearly. Running in the cool sand, boarding a random ship in the hopes of landing somewhere better than this place, and maybe with people that could help her... Catori had horrible dreams about her parents being overworked and starving, freezing, sweating... She hated her father's boss, Shiriki (fictional character, can't remember the shorter alias for it), a dreadful, evil woman with lots of employees too greedy, scared or maybe loyal to defy her.
One day Catori would come back and free her parents and kill Shiriki... maybe... Maybe that was wrong.
Catori opened her eyes and looked around after having drifted off for a bit in the husky afternoon air. Coruscant, the capital of the universe, or something like that. She was sitting outside of a café wearing a black cape with a big hood and loose sleeves, the cape ending above her knee. The tight pants clutched her skinny legs that showed how little she was eating, the sandy coloured reminded her of home, but not in a good way. Under the cape she wore a dark green sweater with a loose fit to keep her warm as this planet was a lot colder... The warm drink certainly helped right now.
Catori had only been in this city for a few days without knowing a soul. All she had was her bag, some books, a long stick of metal and a knife. Nothing more. Luckily, she had been able to persuade the café owner to give her the hot beverage and some bread that she had strategically saved for later when the hunger would become worse. She hadn't been used to eating well anyway, not since things were better off at Tatooine and her father had a better reputation. Why couldn't he just do what he was told?... Well, he was probably right... everything wasn't black and white, right or wrong, and not caring was worse than anything to him... So besides bending the law, Cheveyo would sometimes claim and act as a descent citizen, greatly inspired by the Force and the ways of the Jedi, which he had loved as a boy... Catori had loved them too, maybe she still did admire them and had a strong belief in the Force... But right now it didn't seem to help her much.
She took a sip of the beverage and and closed her eyes again. Maybe the drifting was some sort of meditation for her... It helped her calm down, relax and process her life... and perhaps her next big move.

A tall, lean built human stepped out of the café with a grande hot chocolate. He wore a long black trench coat with silver lining, underneath he had a charcoal Kuat style dress shirt and a pair of slacks on. His belt had a blaster holster filled with his heavy blaster pistol. His hair was jet black and close cut and he sported a well trimmed beard. His grey eyes scanned the tables till he found an open seat and proceeded to fill it. Occompaning him was a crimson droid, outsside appearances made it seem like a protocol model.
“Beautiful night isn’t it CE,” the human spoke to his droid.
“My desire say it is colder than average with a chance of rain,” the droid replied. “Is that your definition of nice.”
“Eh, it beats plenty of the other worlds we’ve been on recently.”
“That I will agree upon, this place is at least somewhat civilized,” the droid confirmed.
“And we aren’t being shot at,” the human continued.
“You chose to make a private security enterprise, being shot at is part of the deal.”
“I guess it is CE, just nice to not be shot at once in awhile.” The human finished and began sipping his warm beverage.

Kota walked in, her hair was down the silver showing in the blackness, giving it a more aged sense to it. She wore her greyish armor instead of the red nor did she wear her helm. This was alliance space and they would not welcome the sight of the grand Inquisitor. She however did mask herself (force mask), she didn't want to be noticed.
She noticed that Corran was here. 'What on Earth is he doing here?' She thought. She simply took a seat in the back this time instead of approaching. Kota thought it best to figure out what he was doing first rather than call attention to herself or him for that matter.

Tatooine.
Why did he keep on ending up on backwater outer-rim planets? Either it was the will of the force, or it was conspiring against him. Perhaps both. Nevertheless he had learned his lesson from before, remembering this time to bring a more suitable attire. Turns out the Jedi actually have different attires for different conditions, smart, but not something Jarak had imagined the Jedi to take an interest in doing. He was thankful they did. His new, climate appropriate attire was of a lighter, stone-coloured cloak with a thin white tunic beneath. Almost identical to his other but a much thinner fabric was used. Unlike the last time he was here, when he wore a heavy cloak and well, the Jedi weren't entirely welcomed. Now the Alliance was surging forward and Tatooine had been brought under it's wing, Jarak was free to walk around in even the most traditional appearances. He even wore his lightsaber in plain sight, a deterrent to the less friendly settlers this side of the Desert world.
He'd been investigating disturbances noticed by one of the Alliance's force sensitives. A Jedi she was not, yet the Jedi kept tabs on these people, often in some form of correspondence, letters in this case, and the writings of her last days on Tatooine warranted further investigation from the Jedi. The sent a Knight, Jarak Kai. He had a keen mind and was always suspicious of the workings of the darkside, in all of it's forms. He tolerated little outside of what he deemed was the 'balance' of the force, which coincidentally meant the eradication, or conversion of all darkside practitioners. Were the Jedi hunters? Apparently so.
As he entered the bar, the door shut behind him yet still the air seemed to be drawn out of the place, like some sort of vacuum. It caused a silence, sending most of the eyes at the bar towards a man who's eyes weren't visible, but enough shown to let them know. A few perhaps guilty individuals sat up straighter, trying so hard to look innocent that their guilt or shame became ever the more visible, but that was the problem. Jedi didn't go a round, herding up the petty criminals and slicers. More times than not, a Jedi had come to rely on one to succeed at a greater cause, but they didn't know that, and the Alliance governance had benefitted greatly from that myth, with the presence of one or two Jedi. He headed to the bar and waited for the barman to free himself from tasks. He handed a credit slip over to him and sure enough the barman delivered what he was after. Not the drink, the drink was free, Jarak knew Bart from way back, but the information was still at a very keen discount.
Pleased with what he was hearing, Jarak felt his blue eyes begin to wander around the place.
'Something's not as it should be..' He thought to himself. Not because of the presence of the force, but perhaps a lack of it, where he maybe saw it before. But then he caught the glimmer.
Like finding a precious stone within the grass of a lush field. The little flickering gem of a force sensitive, untouched and undiscovered. It pulled at his senses, yanking them by force, like gravity pulling his attention to it's centre. When his eyes finally locked onto her, he felt a cool breeze pass by, almost causing him to shudder. He'd never met a force sensitive not scarred by hate or fuelled by ambitions of vengeance. It was a clarity he didn't expect to see, especially on Tatooine. Still, he thought for a moment, wondering why they would be in such a place like this. He quietly observed.

(Red. of course Catori's mother isn't ALSO named Shiriki as the gangsterboss the father works for and which is now their slavemaster, but can't seem to edit the post! Also, Jarak, the actual location is Coruscant, the thread is just called "Tatooine Blues" because Catori's sad about the loss of her parents... Sorry if that is confusing!)

(Yeah I realized after I posted. Marvellous. I can't edit it either so just ignore the whole desert vibe, if that's alright.)

Catori kept thinking of the terrible incidents she had seen in her dreams, even though she tried to block them by focusing on what to do next. Did she find another ship to secretly board? Did she find a job as a thief or something crook-like to give her a thrill and which was something she was moderately knowledgable about? Or did she just get a job as a waitress, since apparently that was what Shiriki (her father's boss) thought she was meant to do for the rest of her miserable life?
Catori bit her lip and opened her eyes. She felt the air of people passing in and out of the café. She watched a man with a red droid, apparently conversing with it, it seemed. She saw a woman with a mask, which seemed a bit strange and suspicious, but which wasn't something that Catori had not encountered before, she was after all from Tatooine. Apparently there was also reason to wear these in Coruscant...
Catori took another sip of the hot beverage. Around her people sat with their drinks and conversed, as the man and the droid. Catori had never touched that sort of stuff on Tatooine, but she was still young, only 17 years old, soon to be 18.
She looked back at the masked woman again. It seemed like she had spotted someone she new... the man and the droid? Interesting... or not. Catori was just killing time in her helplessness, nowhere closer to figuring out what she should do. She looked away, noticing, with a bit of instant small joy, a Jedi Knight. Her eyes became a bit bigger, the dark green circles following the man's every move, however not for long... There's a future she would never have, Catori thought. Even though she, like her father, believed in the Force and had read about it... maybe she even felt it, somehow... maybe not, maybe it was just in her head because she wanted that somehow... But not as much as she wanted to free her parents. A Jedi would be able to do that, maybe, but that man probably didn't want to help... People were busy enough as it was, Catori thought. She looked down at her black bag in a canvas material. Perhaps she should read a bit in one of the books she had already read a 100 times?

Jarak eyed the person curiously, or her, as he eventually noticed. The Jedi didn't always look first with their eyes, after all, and Jarak had been deep in meditation lately, thanks to advice from a certain Jedi friend of his, but now he was wondering if his senses had been changed forever. Perhaps he'd always be this way from this point on. The benefits were clear, but he hadn't experienced any downside, yet.
He looked into his glass. It was just water, nothing special, but perhaps this one could be? Can be. It depended on her. Jarak wondered if she even knew. Truth be told, he had no idea himself, he just figured he was fast, quicker, perhaps a knack for surviving where others don't. He looked around her, couldn't see anyone of note that could've been with her. The last thing he needed was to approach someone being scoped or worse. Still, this was Alliance territory now and fortunately the Jedi were received much like before the Clone Wars, more and more so. It was refreshing. He placed the glass back on the counter.
In a moment he was in front of her. Not empty handed, but with a glass of water. He looked to met her eyes, adjusting the hood a little to reveal dimmed blue gems of his own. The force, often left marks on those in the darkest pools of it all, but Jedi sometimes received the odd benefit. Jarak looked younger, healthier than he'd ever been, but it didn't look real when stood among regular people. Almost artificial.
"Sorry to bother you, but I was wondering if you could answer some questions for me?" He asked in his Inner core world tone. His voice had changed of course, but she wasn't to know. All he was really concerned about now was not sending her into flight. Jedi, although on the side of the Alliance often caused the same effect among those who didn't know of the Force and the different philosophies within. All were capable of great evil.
