That's not a lemonade stand

Post by Arkan Wren » Thu Jun 28, 2018 3:04 am

Arkan would sit in the marketplace of coruscant, the sun was beating down on him as he would tinker away with weapons, armour or any other Nick nacks he was given to fix. A large wooden sign on the front saying, I will fix just about anything then the allotted prices 10 credits with parts 50 credits without parts. Just about anybody and there grandmother's were coming to get things fixed. Little did they know arkan was taking bits a pieces out that would not matter short term such as extra power cells or wires. With this he would make a profit, and also be able to work on some of his own projects.

The Underworld of Coruscant was not for the faint of heart. Loud thumping of distant music in all directions overshadowed the slime and filth that lurked beneath the glorious surface of this planet. The poor crowded the streets, just begging for any sign of credits they see. An outsider would normally feel very overwhelmed to this environment but to Raphael, it was growing on him. For long he had maintained a relationship with these people at an arms length. But now, he was getting his hand down in the dirt; roughing it one would say.

Fresh of recent winnings to the galaxy wide competition, the galaxy cup, Raphael examined the businesses along the street. He had an excess of credits that could finally be put to good use in acquiring and fixing up equipment that he might need for the journey ahead of him. His long black hair fell over his shoulders as the hood of his robe twisted and turned to catch a glimpse of every store.

“Fools,” he thought to himself. Anyone who conducted his or her business down here would likely be of a lower intelligence. Sure there were honest trades down here, but the young man could diffidently tell they came at a price. If you found yourself lucky enough to not get scammed then you were probably providing money to a front of one of the various crime organizations that operate in these underworlds.

Dark brown boots stopped dead in their tracks as he approached a large wooden sign outside of what seemed to be a shack. This sign was peculiar; it differed from the usual flashing and neon lights of the rest of this level. It also bore a rather lengthy name for the store. As Raphael pondered the sign, a rather portly Bothan exited the store. It seemed looks could be deceiving as the store somehow managed to keep business.

His curiosity managed to get him again as Raphael found himself inside the shack and approaching the counter. The young man’s interested had peaked as a boy, no older than thirteen, sat behind the counter.

Approaching the counter, Raphael placed a set of ten credit chips on it. He then would unclip his sporting blaster from the holster on his left hip, carefully disassembling it in front of the boy. He wondered where the young lads parents were, as he completed the disassembly. The parts sat in front of the boy as Raphael awaited his parents to come and put together the gun. If they could put the gun back together to the young man’s liking, then he would further require their services to fix more equipment; but first he would see if they were honest people.

Arkan would watch seeing the crowd flow in and out he was conning just about everyone who came in the stand. Some he could tell were more careful than others but that is where he relied on his talking. Seeing as a man would walk up, taking apart his sporting pistol he would place the individual pieces on the table. Arkan would smile at the man reachingbout he would pull the pieces to him, taking just a moment he would analyze each part. He would begin piecing the pistol together and as he did so he would take a not so vital piece. Slipping it into his sleeve as he moved quickly piecing the weapon together, he would then shake out his hand into a small plastic box filled with parts and odds and ends he bought off the people there. The part he took was a Power limiter, it was a mandatory piece of most guns due to the empire and there laws. The only difference that could be told in the gun was maybe it packed a bit more punch, and after firing it for a while it would heat up more. Other wise it was perfectly fine, looking at the man now he would smile.

"Didn't expect a kid to do that did you"

He would laugh watching the man arkan could tell looking at him, he was different than some. He knew the system around here the way he watched arkan, he was expecting to be ripped off.

The boy beginning to scuffle about in front of him caught his silver eyes. Raphael wasn’t expecting that at all, his eyes were scanning the room for an adult to appear out of the back but maybe this was it. No wonder the sign and the store were so poorly constructed, this simple boy was running it. It took him a moment, but then Raphael began to focus on the blaster being assembled. His senses took in everything around him as he analyzed what the boy was truly doing. It was quick work, as the blaster was coming together as fast as the young man had taken it apart.

Eyes moved back and forth as he watched the little boy’s hands, making sure the gun was assembled properly. Within a quick moment or two, Raphael would notice the slight of hand technique that the boy so cleverly built within his time working here. The young man wondered how much he had stolen from previous customers before. What was he stealing the parts for anyways? Would he sell the parts to Junkers later? Questions began to roll through his head as he continued to analyze the boy.

As the blaster was slapped back down onto the table, fully assembled again, Raphael reached to pick it up. He held it in the air, examining the handy work of the boy as he began to laugh. Raphael’s gaze turned from the blaster back to the boy, getting a firm grip back onto the handle.

“I have come to expect nothing less from the individuals living down here,” he murmured out.

Picking his gloved hand up, the blaster was raised to eye level of the boy. The barrel of the blaster aimed directly between the boys eyebrows as Raphael looked at him confused.

“What might you be doing with all of these parts you steal boy?” he questioned, revealing he had dissected the slight of hand technique.

Raphael would stand firm, awaiting an answer. He would continue to hold the blaster steady but had no real intention of firing upon the boy, just simply frightening him into the truth.

Raven watched this unfold before her with little less than a single breath giving away her motion. She had disembarked a single half of an hour prior to this incident, and she had used what she heard from Blood to track this man down. She had initially come to spy on the happenings of Raphael, wondering who it was that vexed Blood so easily, but after she felt something different about the youth this Raphael threatened, she considered disregarding this mission and simply kidnapping the boy.

She didn't need to kidnap anyone, though. The miraluka hybrid could easily just project something hard enough into the brain of this child to where they would want to come with her. It was simple. But something like that, she would have to be careful; this Zeltronian was partially trained by Blood, and enough time had gone past enough for him to have trained on his own accord. Her hood was up, and she had dissected this entire reading from what the Force had shown her. This entire time, her eyes were closed, royal amethyst irises hidden behind pale lids as she concentrated on this showdown from her perch atop a nearby short building in Coruscant's vile bottoms. Her essence was hidden by the Force as she blended into the surroundings as an average individual.

The cloaked petite woman kept herself cool on the top with cryokinesis regulating her temperature. And just as she had gotten as much info as she needed, she jumped from the edge of the building and gracefully fell to the musky floor of the city, cloth booted feet giving her more silence than that of a cat. Before her was this shack, and with her energy radiating around her to prevent her Force ability from being found out, she walked through the shambled entrance of the shack. Her cloak was a creamy tan now, almost reminescent to the sandy dunes of Tattooine. She walked into the shack and turned a shadowed head to see Raphael's arm extended from him, pointing that blaster at the child.

"Threatening children isn't exactly what you would want seen on an Alliance planet, Mr. Xandir."

Turning to the boy, Raven spoke, her nearly emotionless monotone voice silking into something more inviting.

"And you don't have to take threats from anyone, as long as you know who to look up to, young one."

Arkan would smile his trick didn't get them all, and looking behind the man it seemed he was out numbered naturally. Reaching under the desk with lighting quick speed he would hold down a pressure switch to what would look like a messy lob of wires and thermal detonators.

"One sir what I did to your gun isn't quite that legal intact it is probably much more powerful. But if you wish to test it on me the little toy I have will render this marketplace a crater."

Putting the primitive bomb on the table, there was no bluff to his act. He was not afraid to die, and most would go away after he pulled out the large thing. The only way to disarm it was to put the pressure switch at an angle so it would grab onto a slightly large indent on the inside preventing it from sending the signal to blow up.

Raphael turned to meet the shadow figure that had entered the shack, completely ignoring the fact that the boy held an explosive. His dark brows furrowed as he examined the sentient that now stood behind him. The young man wondered what she could possibly want with a store such as this. Better yet, how the hell did she know his name? Questions to be answered soon surely as she now held his attention more than the boy did.

“No. I suppose you are right… We wouldn’t want to attract any unwanted attention,” he said holstering his blaster back upon his belt.

Turning yet again to conclude his interest in the boy, he could finally see what stealing all those parts had given him. It seemed Raphael no longer cared, as this was another product of the underworld of Courscant. The boy was simply just scheming his way to threaten individuals for more credits. No matter it seemed, as a far more interesting prospect for his attention had fallen into his lap.

“Do be careful not to poke an eye out boy,” he added, dismissing the rather lofty threat.

Facing his back now to the boy, Raphael examined the shadow before him. He couldn’t tell if he had ever met whoever was under that hood of hers, it created a sinister shadow that only left Raphael wanting more. He soon found himself craving the knowledge of who this was.

He spoke once more so that he might soon hear that silky voice reply, “It seems we have met? I do not recall your name or face?”

Raven kept her main focus on the unknown child while Raphael seemed to take notice and interest in her existence. To the unknown child, she vibrated waved of distorted emotions, vile intentions and glee amongst them all to commit to violence. Yet to the Force Sense, she was no one but an ordinary cloaked woman.

"Indeed we haven't; and you never will meet me, nor know anything of me." With that, she glided away from him and nearest the child, cloak draping the floor by only a milimeter. Levitating where she stood, she looked down at the child, her voice clearly addressing him.

"I will see you whenever you are ready for something more fun than working as a mechanic. I'll be here."

With that, the mysterious petite woman glided out of the shack, but not before implanting the image of where she would be to the youthful chid. She would await him on a ship, unmarked, and sit in a seat awaiting him to join her if he chose. If not, then within the hour, she would be gone.

Arkan would disarm the device he had a weird feeling in him. On the inside he wanted to set off the bomb just to kill the people in the marketplace, but the little bit of sense he had inside of him made him turn of the hunk of explosives. Looking at the man who came in first, arkan would smile.

"thanks for the part, if you don't notice your gun might pack a punch now sir. " standing up he would take to behind the shop grabbing himself a blaster that was rusty and looked as if it was made by the ancients themselves. Then pulling out a small cart that had a cage surrounding it, he would wrap his arms around the crate of parts hefting it inside if the wagon.

" you can keep the shop, just remember pay the old man who owns the lot, there is an old story that he could fight a boar wolf with his hands behind his back"

Wheeling through the front entrance he would move on his way, using his memory he navigated quickly to the woman. It was strange though he knew exactly where she would be. Seeing the ship he would wheel the cart into it, then moving into the cockpit he would take his seat beside her.

"so where are we going ma'am"

Raven turned to the lad with her face still hidden underneath her cowl. "Where we belong,"she replied mysteriously. With that, she sealed the ramp, withdrawing it back to the unmarked taxi ship as it began to seemingly begin flying on it's own. However, a hidden AI was taking care of it, allowing them to have some semblance of privacy.

"Tell me," she began. "Do you seem to have some feelings that there's something special about you?"

She spoke in regards of him being a Force Sensitive. "And do you know just how special you are, Arkan?" The only way she had gathered his name was simply from conversation around the block, inquiring about the unique boy who worked his unknowingly deceitful hobby in the old man's shack.

The ship left the planet, cruising off casually through the atmosphere until it broke through the gravity ring, and as it did, it began it's ascent in speed as it neared hyperspace ratio.
