Ossus Calling

On board a Galactic Alliance ZD-8000 Luxury Passenger Liner navigating its way along the Hyperlanes on route to its final destination, the planet Ossus. In one of the ships more opulent passenger cabins, sits the figure of a man at a desk seemingly in conversation with his wife and his children.
"Goodnight little ones, be good now and listen to your mother"
Placing his fingers to his lips before touching the screen, before the children dash off out of view in order to ready themselves for bed, he adds to his wife.
"I better let you go, I love you. Will let you know as soon as I can that i have arrived safely as i know how much you worry. You know you and the children could of come along, hopefully i will be able to back before you know it"
With that and a slow drawn out goodnight, the commubnication goes dead and the man sits watching transfixed at the blank screen. Appearing to will it back to life, before giving up with a sigh and allowing himself to sink back further into the chair.
After a moment the man stirs in his seat, streching and just managing to stifle a yawn. He turns his attention to a travel case propped up at the side of the desk. Bending over to reteive it, places the case upon the desk and opens it in order to withdraw a bunch of papers, before closing the case once more. Managing to read through only a couple of papers before the sound of knocking can be heard coming from the cabin door. All alert now with no signs of tiredness, the man waits silently and after a few more moments pass another knock can be heard followed by a voice through the intercom.
"Professor, you there? It's time we should be making our way down,. The guests have started to arrive and people are starting to ask for you"
Upon Recognizing he voice, the professor's manner all the sudden changes. Glancing over at the time piece hanging within the room for confirmation, he stands up and with a final strech of his back walks over to the cabin door, presses the release button in order to open it. With a low hissing sound as the compressed air escapes, the door slides open revealing the figure of a young human male of no more than perhaps 24 years of age. With one final look behind him, the professor steps out ito the corridor and as the cabin door slides closed once more, heads off with his assistant.
