“Black Suns.”
The alley way was filled with recently deceased men and woman of the local police force, civilians and what the current detective on site had decided were Black Sun operatives. The real question remained, why? No one had an answer yet, the entire city block had been cordoned off to prevent any lookin loos and allow the police force to search the area for clues.
“Two civilians, four officers and four of the criminals, dead in what looks to have been a alley blaster shoot out,” the detective, a Cathar male with reddish fur continued to speak into a comlink as he stepped away from the primary crime scene. “Shots were reported at 7:38 pm, the four officers in the area were on scene by 7:46 pm, by the time back up arrived, at 8:02, no one was alive to tell the tale. All signs point to a cell on the Black Suns sir, Falleen using the weapons and gear that our records show to be associated with that syndicate and we suspect several of theirs survived this massacre.”
“Are you sure detective, I was under the impression that organization was no longer active,” a human female voice replied.
“Such organizations are rarely taken out completely and often still have cells that are happy to remain active and are as you can see just as dangerous, if not more so without the head.” The detective continued. “We are gonna need to be careful, set up better surveillance and,” the Cathar paused for a moment, “probably call in some assistance, Chief Vonla.”
A heavy sigh came from the other end of the comlink. “Thank you for the update Detective Crondirr, I’ll take your advice into consideration.” The link to the comm dropped and the detective was left to stare at the alley. It was now after nine at night, the area was lit by emergency vehicle spot lights, and the detective had little left to do in the alley, it was time to search the surrounding area and see if there were any cameras that caught anything of tonight’s activities.

Re: Another night under the Sun
2:43 am
Varn stood in a conference room, holos of the crime scene surrounded him. The large Ranger Captain had been in the city when the massacre occurred and immediately lent his assistance to the local police force, despite what his superiors wished of him. His charcoal eyes looked over the bodies, and the weapons of the criminal entities, he hated every moment as old haunting memories flooded him.
“Llanthu, target one eliminated, move to eliminate target 2,” the smooth reptilian voice of a Falleen burned into the headpiece of the Dashade. “The Senator will not be as easy, keep at it.” The large alien turned and walked out of the room leaving behind three clones and the poor bystander who had found out a bit to much about Black Sun activities.
Varn shook his head pulling back to the present, his vision focusing. “Did we lose you there for a moment Captain?” The voice of the Cathar detective spoke up as they stepped through some of the holos. “I figured someone of your status has seen fark like this before.”
“I have,” Varn’s gravelly voice replied. “I support your claim that this was a Black Sun cell, what they were after I still don’t know, did your sweeps give you any new info.”
The Cathar nodded, “we found evidence of a hideout, unfortunately cleaned out.” The detective looked over the holos around them. “Any evidence we found should be here in a few hours.”
“A cell wouldn’t go active without solid reason, even with law enforcement closing in on a safe house. They have something or want something, operatives are down.” Varn paused, his mind drifting to the old life. “We have twenty four hours and then we’ll completely lose them.” His dark eyes turned to the detective. “I’ll hit the streets, we don’t want to lose this trail.”
The Ranger Captain turned and phased through the holos. The clock was running and he wasn’t about to let his first chance in years get away from him.
