Two weeks earlier...
Having been brought to Coruscant, Hals was immediately classified as a refugee, of which apparently there was a lot. He was lead by security officers to an airspeeder, put in the back and carted off at high speed to what looked like a prison. The sign itself read "Refugee Camp 110". There were security officers regularly patrolling the place, something Hals had never seen on Tatooine. He was lead to a large building and processed. They asked him to fill out many forms, even did a bit of interrogation, and finally an extremely invasive medical scan. He was classified as underweight and put on a special diet. After that, he was given a small ticket with a number and led to a barracks. Inside there was a large amount of other men. A droid approached him, took his ticket and showed him to a bed. The bunk had a small locker for him to put what little possessions he had in to a safe space. After a while, the bewilderment got to him and he found his bunk to be more than adequate compared to the hammock he had grown up sleeping in.
A week or so went by and during the afternoon, a small group of Galactic Alliance military officials showed up. A Human with a particularly thick mustache called out saying that if any fit refugees wanted to make a deal with the government, they would get free citizenship and a pretty handsome paycheck. Hals immediately jumped at the idea with about three hundred other male refugees. He signed several forms, performed another physical and was quickly told to take an oath. In a matter of minutes he had just realized he had been sworn in to the Galactic Alliance Army, his copy of one form stated that he was to report the same day to a testing facility somewhere in Coruscant. The three hundred or so men who passed the physical were lead to a series of large airspeeders. Hals watched out the window as the enormous city passed by. Just like his father, he was now going to serve this Core Worlds democracy. He quickly wondered if he made a mistake, but the gruff look of the GA men in the speeder deterred him from saying anything.
Later that day, Hals was given a battery of tests, along with the other recruits. After a while, he and twelve others were pulled in to a different room and told that by recruiting standards, the Army had to select a percentage of the most intelligent beings in their recruit pool and send them to gain a commission. It was not guaranteed they would make it through the actual training program, but if they did they would serve as leaders in the Army. After the conclusion of the testing, Hals received a document saying he was classified as an "Officer-Recruit: Infantry". He would be heading to Coronet, Corellia, to a place called Camp Kenobi and reporting to Infantry Basic Officer Leadership Course.
Now...
The Galactic Alliance shuttle landed smoothly in Coronet, the Corellian city was absolutely massive-looking from the viewport. It bustled with heavy traffic and when Hals stepped off of the shuttle, the air was so much fresher than Coruscant. It didn't reek of pollution and industrial fumes, it smelled of fresh air and water, even a note of flowers was in the air, signalling the world's spring time. The temperature was cool, if a slight bit chilly as the Zabrak and his eleven other recruits boarded a seemingly military transport. They were ushered to seats and told to not speak. There were a few very angry-looking officers and NCO's aboard, eyeing each recruit suspiciously. Hals got the feeling that it was a bit of an act to see if any of them were scared. He just stared at the seat in front of him. He was glad to be there, even if he was partially swindled. At least the former slave had an opportunity to do something that would be worthwhile. He could tell his children how he came from such poverty and rose to be an officer in the Galactic Alliance Army.
As the speeder approached a military checkpoint outside the city, Hals saw a mass of structures that he assumed to be Camp Kenobi. It was incredibly utilitarian, and had a million different defenses around the perimeter. He could see uniformed soldiers keeping watch, automated blaster cannons, even some sort of ship circling by every now and again. It was very interesting, and he was a bit excited and nervous that he was going to be a part of it. As the speeder pulled in, the recruits were quickly offloaded with tons of yelling and screaming. They were ushered in to get fitted for the gray-blue uniforms of the Galactic Alliance Army. Hals found the uniform stiff and a bit too baggy, but was a bit wary of complaining to the gruff men in charge. The recruits were hurried faster and faster everywhere they went. In one spot they got essential gear to perform their training duties, in another they were issued ID cards, and a last place issued them boots. It seemed like only minutes to Hals, but by the time he checked a chronometer, it was well in to the night.
Finally, they were ushered to a small area and told to form ranks. There, they would meet their instructor.

Re: Uncle Alliance Wants You!
Neive straightened the silver pauldron on his shoulder as he stepped out of his shuttle, looking over the many forms and reports that were written about the recruits he was soon to make into fit soldiers.
"Things were so much simpler on dromund kaas. But, rules are rules."
Neive sighed as he walked into the room, looking over his pupils before stepping up onto a stage.
"Before we start, I want to make one thing clear. I am here to train you to be soldiers, not to take care of you. If the slightest rule is broken, I will make your time here the most miserable time of your life, no matter what you have been through before you were here. Let me tell you a bit about myself, so you know what you're getting yourself into. Before I became an Alliance member, I was a member of the sith. Years ago, I trained acolytes of the sith, but it was much different then here. When there, I had 20 people training to become sith, and only 1 survived the onslaught and my wrath. But here, I'm not allowed to kill anyone. That said, the officers here tend to be lenient to me at times, so don't... cross me."
The crowd of recruits had all become tense and nervous hearing Neive's past, all of them almost frightened at being in the same room as a former sith. Neive sighed, before speaking again.
"Over the course you will all be subject to, you are going to be hurt. You will be scared, you will be shot at, stabbed, beaten and possibly tortured. Everything that happens on that battlefield, all in one place. Any questions, about me, the teaching, anything? Because this is your last chance to ask."
