The Hanging Base (BK, others)

Post by Neive Undant » Wed Mar 17, 2021 3:21 am

The fleet information had been sent to the Imperial brass to plan the attack. The details of the fighters on the ground, along with info on the fleet itself, though it wasn’t guaranteed that fleet patrols had not changed since the information made it to those who planned this offensive.

However, one thing was for sure: Destroying the Alliance’s ground facility on Cato Neimoida would open up a prime opportunity for an imperial fleet to charge the planet and take it once more in the name of the Galactic Empire. However, it was how to properly disable the ships that sat within the hangars of the facility was what had taken so long to plan. However, as Prazutis always told himself, the Force was more than enough assistance to accomplish any task.

As Prazutis eyed the hanging facility from a cliff face not far from it, he examined the supports and cables that kept it in the sky, along with the structure built to hold the facility up, spanning between two cliffsides. Prazutis understood that he would have to damage at least two of the cables in order to properly drop the fighters, and most likely a large amount of Alliance scum, into the ravine below and to their demise, preventing 3 squadrons or more from factoring in when the Empire’s fleet began their assault.

As he walked along the cliff side, unnoticed by the radars of the facility meant to detect fighters or other ships, rather than single individuals. He had a long walk before the real work began, but he hoped that it would go off without incident, and that the “possible support” mentioned to him would come through.

Reports of Jedi were rumored when he was preparing to leave... perhaps an Inquisitor would be sent to assist Prazutis? He wasn’t sure, but for now, he couldn’t rely on support that was not guaranteed to come at all.

"Your orders are deal with this Jedi problem and supervise Prazutis. Make sure he doesn't step to far." Argus's words echoed in her head as she walked to meet up with the fleet that would be sent. She masked her presence as she didn't want to be found by anyone who would sense a force user. (Force mask) She stood watching Prazutis for a minute before letting him know he wasn't just getting an Inquisitor on this mission, but he was getting the Grand Inquisitor. "I trust things are ready to go." She said through her helmet.

Kota noticed that she startled him a little bit by his body gestures, she was around long enough to fight with or without the force. She was quite studied on a lot of things, especially With. Once she had a deep friendship with a number of them, however times and events had changed that along with those who now rule. She would make sure Prazutis didn't revert back to Sith ways, for she wouldn't hesitate to see that his life would end.

***Colonies - N-11***
***Cato Neimoidia***
***Canyons***

“That was a close one. Mind not taking those corners so close? If I have to scrape you off the canyon wall it’ll be trouble for all of us you know.”

Ben’s mentoring tone was not harsh but calm and even more it was filled with levity. He was not lecturing her. In fact he was impressed with her piloting skills. They had only recently been training in their Eta-2’s and it seemed that Aliclair really had a knack for flying, even in this canyon setting. Which was fine with him, Ben had been known to be quite the pilot back in his younger days and breaking the rust off out here was a fun and entertaining activity.

His interceptor banked and elevated high around another chasm as he cut back down into the canyon depths and back towards the large hangar that was suspended over the canyon. The Alliance brass were currently ordering up a squadron rotation and so the local base had been busier than normal but things were suspected to calm back down in a few days. It was nothing out of the ordinary and routine every quarter or so; the pilots did not much enjoy being posted to a base like this without anything to do. They could only fly the canyon so many times without becoming bored with it after all.

But that also meant a Fleet Tender would arrive soon and perhaps even merit a visit by one of the Independence Fleet’s Task Forces but that was speculation at this time as Fleet movements were, of course, highly classified. Granted it was difficult to hide a whole Fleet of ships but the Alliance Navy achieved that effort reasonably well. However, the proximity of at least one Task Force out here so near the Core Worlds and Colonies was always a real thing.

Routine or not the Task Forces of the Alliance Navy were always busy and patrolling for enemy activity…

Aliclair's lips curled into a small smirk as she piloted the Eta-2. She felt free and alive in these sort of fleet machines and when Ben offered her to take the seat, she didn't hesitate. Within the canyons, she decided to show her Master Kenobi the skills she had behind the wheel.

She made a dare devil traverse but they made it out in one piece. She sat up as they rode from the canyon pillars and glanced at Ben. "Ye have little fate. I used to drive and fix these when I was six. Plus, the sharp corners ensure we won't have tailgaters." she said with much confidence. Confidence not shown outside on the field or doing meetings. This was her territory and skies. "Hopefully it'll be smooth riding to Base." Aliclair said as she looked over the radar.

Prazutis observed the fighters zipping through the canyons, hardly a speck in the shadowy cliff faces of the planet.

As he walked closer to the facility, he observed the support structure above it, and the cables it hung from. He believed if he could pull hard enough at the cables with the force, they may give way from the support structure and snap on their own, and if not, he could use the force instead on the support structure itself, topple it and send the entire facility into the miles deep ravine that lay below.

As Prazutis made his way along the cliff faces, he paused, looking down a bit in acknowledgement of the radio feed.

Let’s get this job done. I’ll alert you if I spot Jedi.

He wasn’t sure why the Grand Inquisitor was brought on for this mission, but he wasn’t one to complain, especially about having a more powerful ally than expected.

The starships had gone by too fast for him to notice the presence of the pilots, but in time, Prazutis felt he would have more on his plate than he would like. That’s always how these things went...

"This is your mission, I'm only here to deal with issues nothing else." She said. Kota would follow Prazutis to a point. She had her orders, she wasn't very concerned about the Jedi until a point, but she doubted it would be an issue here. However her concern was more towards Prazutis and how he would react to a Jedi. Sith tendencies had habits of creeping up on those who tried to forget them.

'But what if?' She thought. The Grand Inquisitor hoped her slight concern would be nothing more. However if he was here, she didn't know how it would play out. Her concern would be apparent if her face was seen beyond her mask.

Ben’s Eta-2 flashed by underneath the massive facility and he pulled back on the stick gently to bring his nose up. His interceptor responded and he pulled up and away from the depths of the canyon where he swept far into the skies where his fighter shot through a puffy cloud, it was still whisking behind him as he flipped the Eta-2 onto its port side and banked as hard as the ship would allow. White contrails swept off the edges of his interceptor as he put the ship into a very tight turn.

Chopping back his throttle he balanced his rudders and the Eta-2 rolled back to center. He was now facing the station. It was truly a wonder of architecture that it had been created as it had. He did not agree with the construction at all and he felt it was over the top and unnecessary to be suspended over the canyon by cables when the Alliance could have bored a base into the canyon wall instead, but he was a Jedi not an engineer so perhaps they had their reasons as to why. But love it or hate it one could not deny the marvel of engineering that it was to see such a massive structure set as it was.

“Sword Flight, this is Hangar Control; you are cleared to land in Bay 6C. Welcome back!”

Ben acknowledged the transmission. “Thank you Control. We’ll need a Verpine Tech once we land, I noticed a shudder in my port rudder and the response was lagging a bit.”

“Understood, Sword Flight.”

The comms went dead and Ben flipped his landing lights on. The red and green beacon lights on either of his wings respectively were aids to the incoming and outgoing aircraft so that they could more easily see him. He also reached over and flipped the switch that closed up the Eta-2’s stabilizer foils so that landing could occur without damaging them.

Cutting his throttle back to twenty-five percent the little interceptor was cruising in now, preparing to land within the hangar of the station…

Ali gave a small giggle, and oh, how she loved flying. She wished they could do it more and just the two of them. But, missions were at hand and she needed to come back down from hyper space. Fun was over now. She had to land, and she followed Ben to the landing pad, taking it nice and slow. She turned on the necessary blinks and taking the extreme caution, she landed her eta-2 then shut it off.

She sat in her seat for a moment, and gathered herself with a brief meditation. Finally, she climbed out her seat and exited her eta-2.

Prazutis examined the structure for just a moment before lowering to his knees, dipping his head down and tapping into the force, reaching out to the force to let him guide it to the swift, decisive effect he needed.

He began his part of the plan, using the force to pull the facility’s chords away from the structure in an attempt to snap them free, dropping the ships from the landing pads with 2 or 3 chords snapped and killing the entirety of the crew in the facility by pulling all 4 apart and dropping the entire base.

The huge metal cables began to whine and creak as Prazutis worked, immediately alerting the facility that something was amiss, although few knew exactly what was happening.

But the amount of energy Prazutis had to use to cause this, and his level of concentration, let his dark aura become like a beacon, for all force users to easily spot, light or dark users alike.

On he kept, trying to rip the cables free from their suspension, a long process that he would have to finish at least twice before the GA got their ships into the air.
