A New Path (Taum)

Post by Colton Hunter » Sat Mar 10, 2018 8:43 pm

Mandalorian Sector
Jakelia

Will you draw the line with three, I wonder?

Colt sat within the Great Hall of the Sorell encampment. The building was the biggest inside the walls, a long house, with decorative markings in wood and metal. The entire history of the Clan, their evacuation of Dxun, their enslavement by a Black Sun operative pretending to be a Mandalorian, Colt's victory over the puppet of Bralor... he didn't like it, everytime he saw the image of himself, in his darker, unmarked armor, fighting Bot'eth, in his modified Basilisk. He stood on top of the machine, calling down lightning from the sky... it was a vast over telling of the story. It had been a long and hard battle against someone who was cheating at every turn... but Colt had managed.

His eyes moved through the hall, the long table ran the length of the room from the dais where he sat, a few men and woman sat there eating their dinner.... the day was coming to a close... and he had promised his students that he'd eventually get them all together.. but for now, he needed to work, one on one, with them. He had already begun working with Arruna and Hanix... but he was far from over.

He walked from the dais, striding across the hall, a Zabrak, with jet black skin, put a hand on Colt's chest to stop him as he told another man what repairs were needed to some of their defenses. Colt stopped and rolled his eyes, though it was in good humor. Sid Kraius was a part of his Kith, one of four men who could get away with telling Colt off, as needed. There had been a woman with the group at one point too... but she was long gone. Killed by his brother, while trying to stand beside her Chief... With her death, his archivist had left... they had been close, he didn't blame him. There were days he wanted to leave.

"I have places to be, Sid," Colt said as the Zabrak finished, and turned his purple eyes on Colt, the man was a grump, but it was all in good fun, Colt had realized. He headed up the Sorell's engineers, in a clan of engineers... repairs and innovations, that was his department.

"To cause more logistical nightmares? How many more bunk houses do you need me to set up? Any new apprentices you want to bring in? I thought Bain was supposed to be taking them in..." he said, Colt sighed, and nodded.

"Xavius has been gone for a while, he lost many of his students... I only take in special cases anyway, he wants his students to fill a specific role.." Colt said.

"And you?" asked Sid.

"I want them to be able to make their own choices, I never got that chance," he pointed out, Sid had nothing more to add to that ,and bowed his head slightly. With a sigh, Colt continued on his path, reaching out with the Force to find his newest apprentice. The tiny Miraluka girl... his mind reached out for her, and touched against her... a gentle tap to let her know he was looking for her... with a nod, he moved to go track her down.

Taum was laying in her bed wrapped up in her blankets. She was so warm and comfortable despite it being a strange bed. She finally got up when she was hungry. She fixed her pajamas that she'd found, which were a little big, and shuffled tiredly into the kitchen. She didn't really know how to cook and settled on some type of alien fruit. It was bitter, but sweet, and completely new to her. She had traveled to many planets before deciding on Naboo, but there were still a bunch of unknown things.

She felt the pulse of Colton letting her know he was coming and smiled. She focused real hard and tried to send him one back. It probably didn't work, but she figured she'd give it a try. She set down her fruit and drug a brush through her hair, trying to get out all the knots and snarls. She kept pulling and tugging until, finally, there were none left.

She went back to the table and sat down to finish her alien fruit. She swung her legs while she waited for Colton. She couldn't wait to begin her training.

The walk wasn't far, the entirety of the camp was easy to access, while it was sprawling, it wasn't all that large. His longer strides carried him to the young girl's door. And while this was, indeed, his camp, and he could come and go wherever he pleased, he instead, knocked. The heavy wooden door meeting his bare knuckles. He wasn't dressed in his golden armor today, but rather, a light black chest piece, covered by equally dark robes, left open. It was much hotter than his golden attire, for his Mando Cabure carapace had internal systems to keep him cool. This had nothing as advanced.

He'd wait to be let in, taking a brief look around, and offered her a gift in his free hand. It was one of Adara's favorites... the Uj'alayi, or Uj cake, it was a flat, dense, and sticky cake, uj'alayi was made of crushed nuts, dried fruits, and a sweet spiced syrup. Incredibly sweet, and a favorite of most of the soldiers here. The fact it was used as field rations was a testament to the Mandalorians drive to try to do everything better than everyone else.

"You'll need your energy for the day, I see you've found some food, but this will provide you more strength for the days activities, we'll start small, shaping your mind a bit, and get into the shaping of your body," he explained to her.

Taum had nearly finished her fruit when Colton knocked on her door. "Come in!" She yelled and took another bite of the fruit.

He came in looking far less intimidating than he had before. She finished her fruit and he handed her a little cake. She smiled and took the offered treat. It was sticky when she touched it and it smelled so sweet. "Thank you, Colton." She beamed when she bit into the cake. It was dense and oh so sweet. She happily ate it while he explained that it would give her more strength. She didn't care what it did. It was delicious. When she finished the cake she licked her fingers clean and looked up at Colton. She had yet to change from her pajamas, but her hair was at least neat and brushed.

She leaned forward onto the table and laid her arms out as far as they would go. "I have a serious question, Colton." She paused, waiting for a minute before looking up at him. "Will you be my big brother?"

Colt let the girl eat in abject silence for the moment, eyes roaming elsewhere. She hadn't been there long, so he could see no notable change. He then turned to make his way for the door, expecting her to follow.. but her mannerism gave him pause. He turned to look at her stance, her serious expression... and then the question.

"Your... brother?" he asked her, seeming surprised by her request, his eyes lowered just a bit, and a sigh escaped his lips. "If I am to be your teacher, I cannot be your brother, because that could foster a degree of favoritism, could it not?" he asked her, "Perhaps, when I feel your training is complete, we can reconsider, as you'd no longer be my student... does that seem fair to you?" he asked her. Besides, the two still barely knew the other, he knew her story, sure, but he needed a better measure of the girl. The girl knew nothing of Colt, aside from the small bits he had told her.

"That said, we do need to start, if you'd like to go get changed, and we can start your training... in the meantime, focus on the Force, feel its effect within you, hear its call, and let the Force guide your mind's path for this day," he offered her.

((OOC: If you'd like to start here, you'll need to begin with Force User Level 1, which needs 100 words from you, of feeling the Force, normally it'd be officially for the first time for many, but seeing as you're Miraluka, and the Force is a big part of how they see, look at it as feeling the newer aspect of the Force that will eventually allow you to do more than just see. Once the app is complete, go to beta.sithlore.com and send in the application))

Taum deflated slightly when he said no. She nodded with a slight frown on her face. She hadn't had any siblings. Her mother had said she had a little sister, but she left before she could meet her. She said she'd meet her one day in the far away future.

She climbed out of her chair and grabbed some clothes. She went into the bathroom to change. The clothes were simple and fit her well. There was a white tunic, grey pants, and a robe with a belt. She looked at the shoes for a minute. They were little slip-ons meant to only protect the person's feet. She left them on the floor and braided her hair. Instead of her eye band she wrapped a long strip of cloth around her head and tied it in the back. It would be much be more comfortable for anything they'd do today.

She left the bathroom with a smile on her face. She found Colton and waited for any instructions on what they'd be doing.

((OOC: I now have a functioning discord account if that would help because I need some more explanation. My thing is MathiasIsGirl#1353.))

Colt bade the girl to sit across from him on the ground, as before, legs crossed, hands on knees. He took a steadying breath, then bowed his head slightly.

"Delve into the Force, don't talk, just experience it, reach inside and outside, feel your connections, and let it flow through you," he explained. He was doing the same, letting the Force permeate through his body, felt the connection he had to every living thing on Jakelia. That was an oddity unto itself. He never thought he'd ever have any connections, let alone to his people. But here he was, bonded to an entire world. He found he actually cared what happened to Jakelia. To Clan Sorell. Not just because he had wanted to give Adara a home when the Empress had wound up with the Sith, and Coruscant had fallen to the Alliance, and her father-- he wouldn't even get started in those lines.

No, he actually felt connected, at peace here. This was his home as much as it was hers. And he'd die fighting for it one day, he'd seen it... luckily it wouldn't be soon, and he wouldn't go down without any fight. He breathed the Force in, and blew it back out, letting himself just drift on the spectral wind of the Force, meditating... something else he'd never been able to do before. But he knew he was considered a Master of the Force now. There could be no denying that, no hiding from it. All he had left to learn of it, was it's many facets... and one day he would do just that.
