When you're the last

Naboo was far different than Ziost or what she remembered of it. 'Its been so long.' She thought. The 3-po unit was following her like a child, but she didn't care. Kubu was told she was century's old, her people are no more, and was the last one. She didn't know how to feel about that, on one hand she wouldn't have to be retried and possibly branded, the other there was no one like her. It was taking time for her to adjust to learning Basic, but she was learning.

She didn't know what her place was anymore, there was no elder to tell her what to do, and there was no laws for her to follow. Kubu stood looking out from the balcony, this was definitely not something she remembered on Ziost. Nor had there been any thing like the waters or trees. 'So what am I supposed to do now?' She thought. In her mind she was a twelve year old girl, but to everyone else she was the oldest being alive.

She began to walk the droid in tow. Kubu felt nervous as she could see people staring at her as she walked. She wasn't used to being gawked at. So she slowly walked as she watched for anyone who might approach or be old enough to help her out. As she made her way down the building and in the streets Kubu noticed the markets. She had never seen such a sight or so many species. Unsure if she should go there she went to the side of the building instead. Quickly she followed the building, panicking, because of to much unknown.

She grabbed the first door she found and went in. The droid followed as quickly as it could, but 3-po units were not known for speed. When she entered the room she saw an older man drinking. To her best guess this was an elder of these humans she had encountered. Kubu didn't know what he was drinking, but she needed guidance. "Vyres dasixa tarnas nun, Nu adata guidance." She said. The droid stumbled in. "She says Elder please help me, I need guidance." The droid translated.

The whiskey had barely touched his gullet when it shot back up, snagged in his throat and made an attempt to exist via nostril and mouth. Only a quick hand and a deft application of bodily control stopped the barman, who had until two seconds ago been making idle chat, from becoming drenched in his own product.

"E.." he coughed, his hand slapping vigorously against his chest. "Elder!?" it was then Salem Norongachi turned, expecting to be faced by a droid well and truly on the outs and in need of a solid memory wipe. What he saw was a red skinned girl, looking lost by his best estimate. At her side a protocol droid, obviously what he'd heard at first was a language and not the insane screams of a malfunctioning artificial mind.

"Never a quiet day.." he said quietly to himself. "Whats the problem, kid? Lost your mom?"

"She is a Sith sir, the last of her kind. I will not translate such a question." The droid said. Kubu watched the back and forth display. Kubu wished she understood what was being said. 'Curse this damn basic language.' She thought. "Kam dary tave vyres zodis?" She asked. (What did the elder say?) "Jiso falykas buti grubus, tym uzpra ar j'us sesie tu'iea virha." The droid said. (His question was rude, he asked if you lost your mom) Kubu looked at Sal. "Xaz Nu zinot sesie nuyak virha. Tau liepti nun anas Nu buti dyim, 000 kursas seniai sso ankasio, Nu buti satci kaiefas kia vesti nun. Nu ziur jri vyres negu nun, mazo vesti nun." She said to Sal.

"Yes I have lost my mom. They tell me that I am 5,000 years old at least, I am looking for someone to guide me. I see an elder before me, so guide me." The droid translated. Kubu watched him close, this annoying droid was just a translator till she understood basic. It would have to do as commanded, she didn't like having the damn thing, but there was no other option. No one knew sith here and she didn't know basic.

Norongachi scowled at the droid. Was he supposed to know her history? Whatever she was, she was still a child to his eyes. Despite the droid, in spite of the language barrier he could see a longing in her eyes. She spoke, the droid provided the translation and he looked at her, traced the babyish lines of her face that were just beginning to harden into those of a young adult. She couldn't have been anymore than 12 when whatever set her clock in stone occurred. A world that didn't play by her rules, that didn't understand that what she understood was five millennium out of date. What must that feel like, he thought as he took another mouthful of whiskey.

"Guide you where?," he responded and wished he'd looked harder at that force power text he had on the Fate, it would have smoothed this transition. "Guide you in what? Start small, kid, work your way up".

"Vyres mokyti berniuk kam kia dary, tau mokyti mus kait kia aukotis kia tave valzino, tau mokyti mus tuzaei raganius is jena'tes.... Nuyak drajunas buti sori nuo nenx dary temias." She said. Her face and eyes became sad and looked down. "Elders taught children what to do, they taught us how to sacrifice to the gods, they taught us proper sorcery in darkness....My family was punished for not doing these." The droid translated. Kubu hadn't thought about it till now, how she was standing here because her family had chosen to go against the rules of her species and now she was the last.

"Nu adata kitok lerena kia stebe, zo kitok vyres... Kaienas verciau us kam tave seniai wo mokyti nun."
She said. Her face looked back at him, it was still a little sad. "I need new rules to follow, a new elder... Something better than what the old ones taught me." The droid said. Kubu moved to kneel before him as her tradition taught her to. This was how they acknowledged the lessons of the elder and whatever wisdom they choose to bestow upon them.
