The 99th Heavy Lift Wing continued to cruise forward. Thanks to the actions of the Jedi Interceptors the Sith’s scouting squadron was completely tied up and while Ben had no indication on their status he was almost certain that the pilot of the Coalition were tracking down the last of the squadron even now. He was more interested in the unfolding situation surrounding the orbital station as the lead squadron of the 303 successfully initiated and executed their micro jump and came out right on top of the station. Glittering fire stitched along the station’s hull, mostly splashing against the shields but occasionally punching through and rewarding the offensive efforts with the brief red-orange explosion of a turret or system flaring out before the vacuum guttered the fire.

In the galley of the Talon the coordinators of the mission drew the next set of strategic objectives and dispatched them out to each Wing Commander and Squadron Commander to therein relay down the chain as appropriate. Ben’s own HUD blinked an alert of incoming orders and Asori, his copilot, accepted the incoming transfer of data. Unpacking the encrypted information only took moments and once done she read out the objectives aloud to inform Ben Kenobi while at the same time transmitting separate data out to the rest of the Wing.

The orders were brief; three of the Delta-class JV-7 Shuttles would be tasked to break off from the formation and head towards the orbital station. Under cover of the Jedi Starfighters, each shuttle would maneuver to the orbital station’s bridge network and initiate a hard breach. With a capacity of ten men per shuttle, it was determined that thirty Coalition personnel would be more than sufficient to subdue the bridge of the station and shut the entire facility down until it could be seized in totality, section by section. While not all the thirty breachers would be Jedi Knights, the majority would be Antarian Rangers and they would be well suited for this operation.

Even now the trio of JV-7’s banked hard to port and veered directly toward the orbital station where the 303 was buzzing all around. At the moment the 303 seemed to be holding space superiority and thus there was no immediate threat to the JV-7’s. The remainder of that particular JV-7 Squadron would remain on station to provide reinforcements if necessary.

With that element of the operation under control the remaining five squadrons of the 99th Wing, including the Talon itself, accelerated their sublight speed to maximum on a course that would take them through the station’s engagement zone, directed towards the planet Vjun itself. Bypassing the station and laying assault to ground based Garrison of Vjun was vital to the mission for the longer the Coalition dallied out here in space the longer chance the Sith Fleet had to respond properly, furthermore as inevitable as battles went it also meant the more manpower would be spent on something that was not the primary objective. On an operation where the Jedi Coalition Forces had finite bodies to expend it meant every moment spent elsewhere only deepened the chances of critical mission failure.

When the elder motioned for her to take a Gunner position she thought he was joking, but there was no joke. Kubu got up to go to the gun, but she just stared at the instruments. "Kait tave netvarka dary Nu savaka zhol?" She asked. "How the hell do I work it?" The Droid translated. It was clearly a bad idea to put her here.

---VJUN, ORBITAL

Point defense cannons sprayed fire at the Jedi starfighters that had made their sudden and daring maneuver though to no true avail. Jedi were hot hands on the sticks of their fighters and they’d not be so easily shot down - however it wasn’t necessary to shoot the fighters so much as it was imperative to swat down the slow drifting ordinance that was moving towards the hangars and without the Force to help the explosives jink and evade the Sith guns they were swept up in a torrent of fire before they could activate and thus the inactive mines were turned to atoms without detonating at full force.

Additionally this is what also occurred with the Jedi warheads that were being fired. These warheads would be no more effective than an Imperial or Alliance salvo as they were not guided by the Jedi’s hands specifically and so screen fire also smacked them down too though it was impossible to catch all the warheads before they impacted and while few in number a warhead was a warhead was a warhead and the impacts were devastating to the areas hit.

Entire sections of the stations were sealed off from bulkhead breaches and bodies of the crew floated into space to expire in horrific manners. This did nothing to Sith morale as they were fanatical in their retribution and only redoubled their efforts to impair the Jedi invaders.

The hangars were now the scenes of streaming fighter craft as flight upon flight shot from their housing to engage the Jedi - who for all their talent and precognition could not simply ignore that it was they that were now the outnumbered lot and in by doing so it was they that were forced away from the nearest proximity of the orbital station. An entire wing of Mk. VII Supremacy Fighters dogged the single Jedi Squadron in an impossible dogfight. Their speed and maneuverability allowed them to keep up with the Eta-2 Interceptors and as well they broke the Jedi squadron apart as their numbers severed the unit coherency by mandate. Surely the Jedi would still hold their unity of the Force and their happy one-ness, but it was only practicality that now surrounded them and simple physics - they would eventually be shot down.

One. By. One.

Two Jedi Shuttles had also joined the fray but as of yet the Sith defenders had not truthfully noticed that they’d broken off from the main group where in hindsight they were monitoring the descent of the Jedi 99th Wing with great interest. The Station Commandant was eager to send his fighters off to swat down those slower moving vessels but he kept to the plan that would see this arrogant lead squadron punished. They would pay with the currency of their own blood.

---VJUN, SURFACE

Bast Castle was just now launching an array of Mk. VII’s - a single squadron of pilots that were on call and already in the hangar. They began screaming upwards into the upper atmosphere to specifically engage the lead element of the Jedi transports. This would not be the only effort made though as even now another flight group launched from the hangar and now began a patrol around Bast Castle’s perimeter that if the Jedi wanted to penetrate and go straight for the Castle then they’d be intercepted first and take causalities that they could likely ill-afford.

Gunnery towers were now coming online and while the Jedi were not even close to being in range they pointed skyward and were prepared to intercept the invasion force. Larger guns also came online though they were designed for anti-starship fire and were unable to target the lesser transports though if the Jedi tried to bring in their capital ships then they’d have another harsh welcome to smack them for their troubles.

The walls surrounding Bast Castle were now starting to brim with soldiers as they were harshly woken from their garrison life and sent to the immediate defensive platforms that Bast Castle would not fall without a terrible price to be paid.

Meanwhile Lord Hagathe made it to the command center and took to his throne, reading reports as they were available. The Jedi had come upon them with utter surprise - there had been no warning. Their small attack force was to be credited for this. An interesting tactic indeed. But he also didn’t fail to see what the Jedi were doing. If they could make landfall then Bast Castle would be under siege. “Mobilize a battalion of troops with tank support. If and when the Jedi hit the surface of Vjun I want them to have a grand welcoming party.”

---SUBJUGATION ARMADA

“My Lords.” The officer of the watch announced, “The Subjugation Armada is in position to make the jump to hyperspace. We stand by at your mark.” Indeed, the entirety of the Subjugation was present and aimed towards Vjun and soon they’d be straight into the awaiting arms of Bast Castle and the Jedi would soon after find themselves greatly overwhelmed.

The wing of razor fighters and the wing of z95s jumped out of hyperspace near Vjun, upon exiting Hyperspace the wings immediately went on the aggressive towards the enemy fighters open firing with their blasters, this force hearld the inevitable, the arrival of the Sith…

=Aboard the Subjagation=

Lord Khairo had ordered the remaining pilots to be ready to deploy, all across the fleet, pilots were suiting up, crews preparing the ships to launch. He could sense the War-Bringer’s restlessness, he knew the Lord of War wanted nothing more than to be in the thick of it. Warvanus was a Sith Lord and such tasks were beneath him, he would keep the War-Bringer where he was, let that restlessness build up and fester. It would make good fuel for the Dark Side.

=Aboard the Magnetar=

Warvanus was now pacing, his pilots suiting up, crews readying the starfighters to launch. He knew the first wave had launched it was just an opening salvo, the enemies of the Sith would pay for their trespass. He balled his hand into a fist, allowing the anger to rise. He clenched his fist harder then after a minute released it. The Magnetar was ready for the jump and would jump when the rest of the fleet was ready all he waited on was the order from the Dark Lord himself, or from Lord Khairo.

"Make it so." And just as quick as the punctuation had released the hounds, the full magnitude of the Armada sprang forth in a twist of space an time, blending through the jump in a fading speckle of slurred light, one at a time. Eventually they would be just there, and once there, they could massacre those who had come to oppose them with relentless intent.

Meanwhile, Blood assessed the remainder of ships he had within this Armada, attempting to learn the positions of them all and see what else he could muster in his position aboard the Subjugation. "Seems the Fighters have already engaged with haste- we should not leave them too long." Yet they served their purpose- stalling. And with Vyun so near where their majority was stored, their timeframe to simply be there with carried artillery was near nil.

***Vjun, Atmosphere***

“Incoming fighters!” Asori Spero announced from the underside turret opposite that of Kubu. Her guns began to bark in response to the close proximity of the Sith Starfighters but Ben kept the Talon on a sharp course heading to the surface. Clearly though the mission had just gotten far more serious as assaulting Bast Castle like this would not be easy.

Five squadrons of transports broke down through the highest cloud layers and came fully into view of the dominating presence of Bast Castle. The plan was clear; two squadrons would remain in the air to provide air cover and additional reinforcements as needed. The first squadron would land with the objective to secure the inner keep walls. If the walls could be shut and sealed then the majority of the Sith defenders would be locked outside and there would be no need to even fight them. Ben’s squadron would be hitting the orbital defense guns. These massive surface to orbit cannons were key to this mission. If these could be silenced and captured then they could be used to fire on the Sith Armada as they came in and keep the Sith from bombing the Castle from orbit. The third and final squadron would assault the hangars of the castle and capture them to be used as an operations center to refit and repair fighter craft as well as treat the wounded and finally to be used as a beachhead into Bast Castle proper.

***Vjun, Orbit***

The shuttles slotted to hit the orbital station’s command center went on unmolested as they reached their targets, maglocking onto the surface of the station and utilizing plasma cutters to cut through the hull of the station. This process would only take a few moments to accomplish and then the first close in fights for Vjun would take place. The rest of that squadron would be providing specific close air support and cover fire for those shuttles. If anything wanted them then if they got through the 303 then they’d also have other shuttles to fight off. Not a promising outlook for any attacker.

Then came the emergence of the Sith’s fighters in the form of two fighter wings, one Razorfighter Wing and one Z-95 Headhunter Wing. These steep numbers would severely complicate things and as a unified front the Jedi Wings would respond now that the other elements of the Jedi Starfighter Corps had fully arrived the engagement zone.

The 303rd Wing would continue to engage and secure the area to combat the current force of Sith Starfighters. The 617th Wing which contained the Jedi’s Bombers would support the transports and make straffing runs against the station’s point defense cannons with their ions to disable vast portions of the station thus making the Jedi’s job easier for now. The 29th Wing would hold in reserve and keep any Sith fighters from attacking the currently descending 99th Wing from behind. The lighter 71st Wing along with the 1st Wing would sally forth and fully engage the incoming Sith Wings.

Lights and sounds bombarded her, it was the most annoying thing she had ever encountered. Someone had said something, but she couldn't hear. Kubu just sat down and started to push buttons to simply try to get the noise and lights to get them to stop. Something she pushed caused lasers to shoot randomly into space. She sat trying to figure out what one she had pushed to do it.

Sith language was being said from her spot, however the Droid wasn't translating what she was saying. "She's cursing." The Droid simply said. Kubu really felt like this was really stupid for her to do this with no training. She didn't even know if she hit an enemy or Ally.

---VJUN, SURFACE

The defenders of Bast Castle were surely taken by surprise by the aggressive actions of the Jedi Coalition and with the defense having prepared the majority of their force and sent them out to intercept the most likely landing zones - while the Jedi changed course and hit the castle itself - meant the defenders were out of position and the Jedi were making progress. Defenders rallied and began reasserting themselves, but the current situation was not well for the Sith.

Lord Hagathe growled his anger at the situation but he would wait no longer for the bafoons under his command to right their wrongs. Giving the command to send in every available warrior at their disposal, the walls of Bast Castle were soon the scenes of duels between red bladed Sith Warriors and the more colored blades of the Jedi Knights. Lord Hagathe himself took a guard of four Sith Warriors and made his way down into the courtyards, if he was to lose Bast Castle today then it would be by pried from his cold dead hand - Lord Blood would not have the opportunity to execute him for he would either prize his victory from the corpses of the Jedi or he would be among the dead himself.

This newest retinue to join the battle began to focus their efforts on the Jedi teams that were attacking the main gates. In counter to the Jedi - if they could kill the invaders then the reinforcements could come back and help to overwhelm the Jedi.

---VJUN, ORBITAL

Little resistance would meet the Jedi within the orbital station. No actual Sith Warriors were stationed here, just the typical soldiers of the Sith Army. Despite this, the station personnel would not simply lay down and die without a fight - they would sell their lives dearly for the glory of the Sith.

In the meantime, the Sith Armada was now in hyperspace on the command of their Dark Lord and would be arriving here at Vjun soon. It was now up to the defending fighters to link up with Warvanus’ starfighter reinforcements and together they would seek to stave off the threat of the Jedi fighter incursion.

As it was, this battle was just getting started.

The headhunters and Razor fighters engaged the starfighters near the Station, heralding the arrival of the rightful rulers of this system, The Sith. A voice came over the comm. it was one of the Flag officers probably on the Magnetar. “H-squad3, R-Squad5, I want you to focus on their bombers engage those bombers!” while the two squadrons of ships broke away to go for the bombers carrying out their orders the rest of the starfighters opened fire on the Alliance’s fighters near the station.

=On the Magnetar=

The ship came out of hyperspace along with the rest of the armada, Warvanus had issued the command to deploy the rest of the starfighters making a wing of Skipray Blastboats and a wing of Toscan fighters top priority he wanted those out in the field first. He knew his order was heard, and furthermore was being carried out. The pilots wasted no time, and in a matter of minutes the Skiprays and Toscan fighters were deployed and making their way into the frey. It would be a good few minutes for them before the fun began. On deck one of the Y-wing fighter wings and a wing of the Sith Starfighters were themselves prepping and awaiting clearance to launch

Warvanus was directing the Starfighters after his recent appointment as the “Minister of the Starfighter Corp” it was a title that needed a lot of work. He was going to unleash the full fury he had at his disposal. Although he was directing the battle through the starfighters his command ship the Magnetar was ready for any orders given by Lord Khairo or the Dark Lord himself.

The entirety of the Sith Armada pulled from the slurry blur of light and swirls that was hyperspace, dropping into the edge view of the ensnarement that their planet was under. The siege was gruesome, but it had only just begun. And now the complete arrival was a terror in the hellish heaven's of the planet's horizon-brim; the vast and merciless entourage which was the Subjugation. The sky, already alight with the frightful warfare of the eon-aged faction enemy against enemy, a rivalry so carved in disgusted history, tattooed in inken life spilled and branded in misery. Tribulation and damnation are joint in this mess, and Blood couldn't help his....

laugh?

Watching the grim happenings, ships wearing his emblem o their hulls, tiny fighters with so much...life in them...he could feel them as they heated to little zings scorching through their phases, engaging, and either emerging victorious, or fizzling into embers, heated metal, chunks of wires, plugs, flesh melding with broken wings and engine material. Every pilot, not just his own- all who were somewhat within the capable vicinity of the Draconian Sith Lord were felt as they either survived to fight another, or plummeted to their new graves below. All this had done was fuel the endless monster which was the Dark Side, pouring the life spill and memories of both the divine and the damned across the gullet of the ghastly goblet. And Blood could only find it so...very...funny. Because in the end, who truly would tip the scales? This war which brewed over the lands now - it has gone on for vindictive cycles of time. Was there ever to be an end to the lustless mess which they all played a part?

Blood and his pack hadn't arrived on the exact scene of carnage as of yet, and as his dry chuckles grumbled into eventual nothing, he watched it play on in the forefront of the planet's spheric view. For now, all he could do was await his ships speeding their fastest to the destination, the weapons aboard growing in their power meters as every metric foot was devoured by starved Sith shipspeeds. Melancholy had gripped the betrayed Sith Lord, his distaste growing bitter at the sight of the enemy before them.

But of course once he had a few pilots for dinner, perhaps even a Jedi or two for desert, all should be well by then.
