Cause and effect: The blue knight and the Shadow(Xavius, Tann)

Post by Lady Kota » Tue Oct 01, 2019 9:52 pm

*Ventooine* (after the Kash disaster)

He looked cautiously out the window of the hotel while keeping the curtains closed. The Grand Admiral was waiting for someone, he closed the curtains completely and moved away from the window. His arm was clearly broken, it was wrapped by himself the best he could given the circumstances. Tann was alone in the situation, the crew had scattered to protect everything and everyone aboard the dreadnaught. Some of them were working on how to move the dreadnaught, others were working on repairs, some were protecting the relics, some were protecting Rahm, and yet he was stuck with the hardest job.

He closed his eyes for a moment, the crew had no idea that he had broken his arm otherwise they would not have left him to go where they were needed. Besides a silent call went out when he got here. 'Hope He gets here.' He thought. No matter what he would do his job, even if it costed him more than a broken arm. With the dreadnaught out of combat status and Lady Kota missing, he would do what he could. She had provided so much, yet some how the Empire losses her.

It was something Tann couldn't grasp, how the hell did that happen. Answers he wanted, but wasn't going to get at the moment. To much had happened and he had to find out what he was going to do. 'First priority repair the Kash, it's going to be months.' He thought. He knew the crew would make contact once they figured out the details.

He waited patiently for him to show, as he did his body shuttered a little at the sound of laughter. It was a reaction to the source of the laughter. Nyria was giggling with her akk dog, Tann took a deep breath to calm himself. He watched her be so carefree despite everything, she was so hard to get a read on though with those eyes. He had to just wait, it was far to dangerous to move right now, and he had to heal to protect her. It would take months to do so, in the mean time hopefully the crew could get the ship moved and repairs begun.

"Uncle Tann when are we going to find mommy?" She asked as she looked at him. Tann struggled to look at the girl, she was just so creepy. He still was getting used to being called uncle Tann, though he was no relation to the girl. "When the ship is repaired." He said. 'Hopefully Lady Kota can last that long.' He thought. "Why don't we repair it now?" She asked. "Repairs take time, especially those." He said. She looked at him like he should work faster or something.

There was no word from him, Tann grew concerned about what could have possibly happened. His com got his attention, clicking noises as if another com was being turned off and on in a sequence. He didn't like the sequence it came in. Tann sighed it wasn't good news, the Empire found and moved the dreadnaught. It meant he wasn't going anywhere for a while, not without aid or threatening presence on him. Right now his position was unknown and with a broken arm he could only run.

Nyria continued to watch Tann as he took his eyes off her and looked at his com. She got up to walk to the window, she peaked out behind the curtain. Her eyes had never seen streets till they got here, so she watched as different people moved along it. "Where is Daddy?" She whispered to herself in an attempt not to be caught looking out the window.

Quiet.

Though he moved quickly, no sound emitted from the footsteps from his black boots. He moved like a snake, deliberate, efficient, and seemingly motionless despite the trail of his black cloak flowing, giving the only hint of the expeditious, silent tempo that the Shadow Lord kept. His body moved furiously, despite the weight of the lightsaber at his belt, the light-whip on his back, the mimetic armor and shield generator he always wore, whether in combat or a casual social interaction.

Always prepared.

He was enjoying his lack of interaction with anything sentient. In his search of true mastery in the force, his only interaction socially was with The Assassin, Xavius Bain’s most loyal companion. The two didn’t speak much, but his droid followed him at the same pace without a word, without a question. No arguments, no small talk. The two were one in the same. Two beings designed for combat. Designed with one purpose. They were both machines in a way, but Xavius Bain, the soldier, had evolved into something else entirely. He had transcended from a simple killing machine, into something far more dangerous.

Human.

Almost.

He had received the call from Tann, but Xavius had been busy. He owed a lot to Kota, Death at the time. She had helped shape him into what he became.

But he wasn’t finished with what he started.

Xavius’s onyx eyes reflected lights like two black mirrors as he approached his destination. There was no hint to what was going on beneath, which was a complicated combination of mathematical calculations of exits, vantage points, and general inventory of his surroundings. He reached out with the force to see if he could feel her presence, and he could. The one thing that unconditionally loved him, despite him being the exact opposite of an ideal father.

Nyria.

He didn’t truly understand the girl, but he knew that Kota had chosen Xavius to create the spawn. She looked very much like him, for better or for worse. Her personality was really unknown to the absent father. His sense of responsibility was clouded by duty, by destiny.

By power.

But that didn’t stop him from ensuring his relationship remained. The girl would be useful in the future. There were not many like the Shadow Lord. She was an exception.

For better, or for worse.

It was then that Xavius Bain and his assassin arrived at their destination. He balled his fist, and the synthetic skin on his hand met metal with a booming, bass filled knock. His eyes flickered for a moment, flames brewing beneath. The scar over his eye glistened in the light, the one blemish to his nearly perfect exterior. The stoic Lord of the Shadows waited for someone to answer his call.

He’s back.

Nyria got excited when she saw him. "DA.." Tann grabbed her as fast as he could from the window, cringing in pain. The window was just out of the ysalamiri reach, he carefully looked out and saw. Tann waved him up, quickly closing the window curtains after. Only when Xavius was up and in the door would he let her go. "Do not yell you understand?" Tann whispered to her before letting her go. She quickly ran to him hugging his leg. "Tell Uncle Tann to get mommy." She said as quietly as she could.

Tann got up slowly rubbing his broken arm as he did, his eyes met Xavius. He knew those eyes, pure black, emotionless, and hard to read. 'The same as hers.' He thought. "I'm not sure how much you know, but I'm going to give you the short version. The empire lost the Grand Inquisitor, no trace nothing, trust me we even went back over it. Now the empire have the Kash, thanks to a little incident. We have a clue, but without aid I don't have the resources to do anything. I'm going to ask if you will watch her or aid? I'm going to ask captain Vassyl, for aid whether he helps or not will be up to him." Tann said softly, he really didn't want to speak loudly they were in imperial territory after all.

Nyria.

The contact of the child on his leg would melt the heart of any father estranged from his daughter, but the Shadow Lord stood, black eyes observing two small black eyes staring back at him. There were many elements of Xavius in her, but her emotions and personality seemed closer to her mother. A deep exhale escaped his mouth, and he brought his gloved hand to her head. While physical affection was trivial to him, he understood that it was necessary for the girl to receive small elements of touch if he were to remain in her favor. She was integral to his future plans, and while he was in her life in a minimal capacity at this time, he did not plan on keeping it that way. Though, Kota would likely not allow Xavius to be the one to train her. His long history of apprentices provided some of the most powerful beings in the galaxy, and almost none of them had survived. Kota knew this, and Kota had trained Xavius once. His methods were likely not what she had in mind for their child.

The onyx eyes flickered once more, and looked up at Tann. While the two weren’t necessarily friendly, there was always a mutual respect for each other. They shared a mutual desire for Kota’s well being, and this was enough.

The unsettling, snake like whisper of Xavius Bain’s voice filled the room despite its volume resembling a breath.

“I will aid, but tell me the situation as if I knew nothing. What is needed of me most?”

Tann knew Xavius’s unique talents. Kota and Nyria were likely the only sentient beings that could call him out of his personal matters. That being said, he planned on handling the situation efficiently. There was work to be done.

Tann eyed him, then her. "How rusty is your shadow?" He asked. He knew Xavius and. Kotas were the only two who knew it, knew how to speak it, knew how to translate it. He reached into his jacket with his good hand, he played a recording. The voice on it wasn't one Xavius was familiar with, but they were speaking shadow. Translated it said "Wurm in the darkness." However it was a question of who said it. None of her crew knew how to speak it or translate it.

Tann eyed Xavius and was waiting for the answer, he knew he would ask who said that. Some how the answer would not be pleasant. He had heard it first hand and what came after was the cause of the dreadnaught being melted, damn near destroyed.

Who.

Xavius could use the force to understand languages, the ancient Shadow language was one in which he was still entirely fluent. All those years ago it was Lady Death whom had taught him, and they spoke it to each other frequently. The Shadow lord had passed it on to a few apprentices, and he was sure that Kota had maybe taught more than just Xavius Bain. But this voice…

The Shadow lord’s black eyes locked with the Chiss. It was not a voice he immediately recognized, but that didn’t mean that they weren’t acquainted. There were no assumptions to be made yet, only facts. When the Shadow Lord spoke, there were daggers in the syllables.

“Who said this.” The Shadow lord almost replied back in ‘Shadow’, but he wasn’t sure that Kota had passed the language on to Tann. He wasn’t a Shadow, only a friend. Well, more than that really. His relationship to Kota was one of loyalty and maybe even love. Xavius’s…

“It means ‘wurm in the darkness’. I would like to know what happened.”
