The more and more Viso got a chance to look around, the more he noticed how lived in this specific spacecraft was. From this point of view, he now truly understood when Ben said he was from all over. Viso only became more envious of the traveled man as he had always wished to own his own ship. The man standing before him almost mirrored everything Viso wanted to be within this life, it was invigorating to be within Ben’s presence.

Up to now Viso had never hesitated when following Ben back to his ship, but as they moved down into the lower level of the ship, Viso’s heart rate began to climb. This level looked like the site of a very recent massacre; he had never come across such a scene before. Weapons had very clearly been fired discharged which could lead to a number of problems within the ship. Doors were blocked from what seemed like a storm had rolled crates and cabinets everywhere. A quick look through a crack in the door revealed more carnage and blood splatter to fuel the situations flowing through Viso’s head. Turning to look at the man, he couldn’t help but notice how unscathed he appeared to be.

The scene capped itself off with scorch marks along the hall lead to the wreckage of speeder that had slammed into a wall. Even if Viso was not in danger of losing his life, he might lose his life to the amount of work this level of the ship needed.

Questions upon questions began to roll through the young Dug’s head. Who really was this man he was travelling with? Where was he really taking him? Viso chose to keep walking along as he recognized there would be no escape if Ben were really the cause of all of this.

As they entered the engine room, Viso noticed that the wreckage stopped before this point. But upon entering a small chamber where the engine sat, the questions ceased to exist. Viso couldn’t help but stare in awe of such a glorious piece of machine. As Ben knelt to reveal the fuse panel, Viso jumped to get a close look at it. His feet toyed with a few of them as he began to diagnose the issue.

Viso looked up to inspect the substantially large tool kit nearby as well as a control panel that would help familiarize Viso with the ships mechanics.

“Time…” the Dug called out to Ben, revealing he would need an extensive amount of time to fix the problem.

Viso immediately began scanning through the control panel to familiarize himself with the system, completely ignoring the possible threat Ben posed to him. He began to work and identify how to best fix this issue.

-Hours Later-

Viso had sent the astromech droid Ben owned to retrieve him moments earlier as the Dug had nearly completed all of the repairs to the hyperdrive. It took hours for Viso to even diagnose that the problem was a damaged inertial compensator. The complex mechanics of this Corellian YT had caused a safety protocol to take place as the compensator deteriorated over the past few jumps to hyperspace. To make sure the spacecraft does not make such a dangerous jump anymore, the mainframe of the hyper drive will not cooperate with the navicomputer. Theoretically, this could be bypassed and a jump could be forced without the navicomputer, but it could lead to a fatal outcome. Without this compensator working properly, the next unsafe jump could lead to a lethal amount of G-Force put on all of the occupants of the ship.

With the problem finally identified, the solution was rather simple. Although, it took a little creative thinking, Viso took salvaged parts from the damaged Speeder Bike to mend the current problem.

Upon Ben’s arrival, the Dug pushed a datapad into his grasp to best demonstrate what he had done to the hyperdrive.

“Temporary fix,” Viso stated.

The Dug turned to point to the datapad, hoping Ben was picking up what he had done.

“Will not last long. Need better components,” he added in what little Basic he knew.

Viso turned to the hyperdrive, proud of his makeshift work before addressing the Bantha in the room. The young Dug wanted to know if he were in trouble based off of the carnage that seemed to have happened on this level.

“Dangerous?” he asked, pointing to the man before him.

Regarding the datapad with interest the old Jedi took up the device and scanned over it and read its contents as Viso rapidly delivered the results. Apparently the Dug had repurposed old and damaged components to act as a temporary correction to an issue that unbeknownst to Ben was deteriorating. Soon enough the system would have failed and likely had terminated Ben and his entire ship along with it. It was readily available to Ben’s perception; he owed Viso for that and he’d not soon forget the generosity.

He took more time to look into Viso’s work. Not as if he was double checking but more so in admiration of the creativity and as well to better understand what went where and why. Still Ben didn’t fully gather how the hyperdrive worked but he was certainly thankful that Viso knew just how it ticked and better yet how to make it work until they could get to a more prominent location to acquire the proper replacement parts. Finished with his own examination he stepped back and approvingly appraised the Dug’s work with a nod accompanied by a smile. “Viso, thank you for your help here. I was completely oblivious to the circumstances.” He chuckled, “I only knew something was wrong.”

But even so as the job was finished he sense Viso’s own apprehension and understandably he took it in and accepted it. Walking through a battlefield was not the most endearing of welcomes to a potentially new world. Rightfully so, Viso questioned Ben and the man looked to the Dug with a calm expression, he shook his head in response. “No, my friend. I am no danger to you.” He turned away and started walking, “Please, this way.”

Ben Kenobi led the way back through the cargo hold and through the long corridor by the medical bay, back up the stairs to the first deck and finally through the galley to the starboard wing of the YT 2000. Not a massive ship, this particular room utilized the most space possible and even then it was but a size and a half larger than the crew quarters on the Port side of the ship.

The room itself was largely empty in the center save for a large mat clearly the site of exercises or training of some kind. In the center of the room upon the roof was positioned a small holoprojector. Around the walls were assorted droids that were folded up and stored for travel from the size of small floating remotes to a larger SEP-1 Security Droid. Various other training tools were present such as a wooden training dummy, a bag for punching, weights and the like. It was very much a typical training room for fitness and it was spacious enough to handle the rigors of a Jedi’s teachings as well.

Ben entered and took a kneeling position in the middle of the room, laying down his staff beside him. He beckoned Viso to do the same or at least make himself comfortable. But otherwise he wasted little time in giving the Dug the explanation he deserved. However, Ben was expressly cautious to deliver too much information at once since Viso had not seemed to recognize the word ‘Jedi’ from earlier. If he divulged too much then it would be likely Viso Gelgan would be the one making a swift departure and thinking Ben was actually some nut with a self destructive nature.

“I owe you an explanation about everything we’ve been through so far, if you’ll permit me and hear what I have to say, perhaps there is a future for you in what I am involved in. As you’ve heard earlier and may recall overhearing; I am a Jedi. A Jedi is a member of an organization called the Jedi Coalition and the Jedi as a whole have been part of this Galaxies’ history for a very long time. The Jedi are of no official capacity, but we are respected through Galactic Alliance space as we are recognized as guardians of the people, as well as keepers of the peace wherever we can be. Our numbers are extremely few, that we have fallen across one another’s path some would say is a coincidence, I do not believe in coincidences. I believe there is a higher power at work, guiding us in our everyday lives. The Jedi too believe in this higher power and we call it the Force.” Knowing it was already a lot to take in Ben paused and let Viso digest the information, he watched the alien’s facial expressions and while he wasn’t fully versed in Dug facial structure and behavior he took mental notes during this process.

“The Jedi Knights, as we are called, travel through Galactic Alliance space on missions given by the High Jedi Council on a world called Permafrost. These missions may concern simple issues such as research, education, or humanitarian efforts. But it could also include more delicate situations like diplomacy between entire countries on a given world or even between two different worlds entirely. Then,” he paused and gave a slightly pained expression, “the missions could also include dangerous circumstances such as the one that resulted in my ship being torn apart below decks as you saw down there.”

He was willing to answer any such questions Viso had and so long as he was taking in this information well enough then Ben was willing to continue. “Where the Jedi Knights are peacekeepers and guardians, we unfortunately have an opposite entity. They too believe in the Force as we do though they use it for personal gain and selfish desire and they do not have limitations on where they will go to achieve their goals. These men are called the Sith. And when I say there are no limits I honestly mean that. They will do others harm to unimaginable lengths to get what they want. On occasion, we as Jedi Knights will come into contact with the Sith and the encounters can be quite explosive. But we engage the Sith because we must, for if left to their own ambitious means they will do much harm to anyone in their way innocent or otherwise. Often times the Jedi Knights are the only beings capable of standing up to a Sith Warrior and we do so to defend those that cannot defend themselves against the Sith.” He was careful to not call the Sith evil, Viso needed to come to that conclusion himself and while Ben was certainly biased in his descriptions he tried to give his new friend the most honest opinions he could.

“If you’d like to learn more,” Ben began in conclusion, “I’m afraid you have to come with me; my time here on Coruscant has come to an end and I must leave this world to continue my journey.” He grinned wide and gave Viso a firm pat on the shoulder, “If you don’t want to come along then that is alright too, I’ll respect your decisions. For that matter if you come and decide that this isn’t for you then I’ll make sure you get to a starport that you can be on your way. Wherever the wind takes you, friend, you are welcome here.”

He laughed a bit, “Besides, I still need to pay you for patching up the ole girl!” He slapped the pad he sat on as he referenced the Talon. “And as you’ve seen, there’s plenty more work to be done if you’re still willing.”

Viso was pleased with the work he had done on the hyperdrive, he was confident that Ben would see the job well done. Therefore, no offense was taken when the man began to take a longer look at the datapad. The Dug only figured Ben was trying to make sense of it all, not checking his work.

After a moment of contemplation and response from Ben, a sense of relief fell over Viso as he continued to place trust in what the man said. Eagerness and longing once again fell upon the Dug as he quickly followed the man through the ship once more. It seemed the Ben was coming to a reveal on what had caused such destruction and Viso only wanted to know what caused it all at this point.

Eyes scanned the room to gauge what he was walking into to. A room filled with weights and droids painted the picture that the man was extremely fit. The extravagant tools made it look as if the room was dedicated solely to some sort of training for Ben. This ship only became more and more impressive as Viso discovered more of it.

His attention was snapped back to Ben as he knelt down to the Dug’s level in the center of the mat. VIso was quick to follow his lead as Ben gestured for him to do the same. It was a bit awkward to kneel like the man was doing, so Viso sat comfortably on his rump attentively listening to Mr. Kenobi.

Ben began to speak on who he was and how Viso was completely wrong in calling him the head of security. From his explanation of the Coalition, he finally understood why the droids heeded his advice back in the Cantina. What piqued the Dug’s interest was what Ben explained as a “higher power”. His facial expressions could only fall under the category of fascinated as he described what these Jedi did as members of the Coalition. Viso was excited to hear that the members of Ben’s organization do their best to help others, which could possibly explain why he went out of the way to offer the Dug a job. It was riveting to know that they travel through the galaxy to new and far places.

What began to confuse Viso was the explanation of another organization that believes in completely different philosophies as the Coalition does. He didn’t quite understand what this opposite Coalition wanted and what the ultimate goal would be with their need for personal gain and self-desire.

Viso then turned to look out the door realizing that Ben probably got tangled up with one of these Warriors. If these two groups were volatile to each other when they come into contact with each other, he would imagine that would be the result. Viso almost felt concerned for the other individual that came into contact with Ben as it looked like Mr. Kenobi had no visible marks on him.

As the conversation concluded, Viso was only left wondering how he fit into all of this. He could be just a simple mechanic to be used for whatever Ben needed, but why would he be revealing all of this to him if that was all he was supposed to be doing? The Dug acknowledged that Ben was helping him, but he couldn’t help but feel like the man was trying to teach him something. Viso shook it off as a question for another time as he had to jump on the opportunity to continue on the next adventure with the man.

“No No!” Viso blurted out.

Pausing for a moment he continued on, “I learn more.”

Another moment passed before he drove home how eager he was, “I travel to adventure with you.”
