The pirate captain's self satisfaction only lasted for so long. With a shout from the technician who was monitoring the vessel, the captain was alerted to a problem. It appeared that the ship the pirates were tracking had unexpectedly dropped out of hyperspace.

"Hasn't that been happening this entire time?" the captain asked.

Surely, it was, but the ship was not to unexpectedly drop from hyperspace without the pirates having caused it. From the perspective of an outsider, yes, the ship was haphazardly traveling through hyperspace. According to the pirates, it was traveling on a predetermined route, albeit one that included a number jumps that no sensible navigator would make. The captain called upon the technician to report on the last known location of the vessel. After several minutes of searching along the ship's route, the technician got an affirmative response from their station.

"Starship located!" the technician announced, "We have the coordinates, captain, but... it seems I'm getting two signals now."

The captain ordered the nearest available pirate vessels to search the given coordinates for the missing vessel. Though it seemed likely at this point that the starship had broken up upon reversion to realspace, there was a small chance that the cargo had survived the disaster. If it could be recovered, the pirate captain had to try.
---

As requested, Master Buggie had dropped out of hyperspace at the given coordinates within his Helix-class light interceptor. His multifaceted eyes scanned the area through the cockpit viewport, fully expecting to find a cloud of debris in the distance. What he could see surprised him, as it appeared that another vessel had already beaten the pirates to the punch. Were they scavengers? Other pirates, perhaps? Buggie wasn't aware of anyone else having been contacted to inspect the hyperspace incident.

Activating his shipboard comm unit, Buggie sent a transmission to the vessel, "Solemn Quiet, this is Captain Buggie. I believe there has been a hyperspace accident in the area, and I wish to inspect the debris on behalf of the company that contracted this freighter. Please allow me to approach."

Carefully, Buggie attempted to pull in and connect a docking tube to the ruined vessel as well.

Rhys was trapped in a cold dark cargo bay, this wasn't the first time he had been alone in a dark, cold steel tomb of commerce. But at least last time he was stowing away, and there was at least a cockpit and propulsion, and maybe a little wine too..

This time he was on his own, but as his eyes adjusted, his pupils reduced to tiny slits, two things became apparent. First that there was a very faint but clearly there deep purple glow... And second was that he was starting to sweat.. *Why is it getting hot in here.. Sometimes this fur is a curse.* He placed a clawed paw softly on the wall and felt the source, outside the ship. Thinking quick he got to his feet and ran to the cool side of the hold.

"Wha!" He yelped and tumbled into the wall next to the mysterious cargo, tripping over the crate of rations in front of him. He did not land on his feet, but was able to only slam a shoulder into the wall with a loud thud.

----
I-9 however was dealing with a terrible headache if a power surge as the cockpit was pulled from hyperspace.

The glow on the opposite side wall came to form a man-sized rectangle, just as the pilot called to the back. "Chief, we're getting hailed by someone claiming to be working on behalf of the contracted ship. They're rapidly approaching and will be here momentarily. Reply?"

"Keep quiet. They'll have to cut in too," she said. They could get in and out before the other ship and this captain Buggie could get into the cargo hold. That is, if there were no complications, and as the durasteel hull was kicked into the bay, Emic charging through the hole with blaster rifle raised, it was once again apparent that things were never so simple. She saw the Cathar and lowered her rifle in shock.

"Frakkin' Rhys?!"

The gravity well activated just in time to pull the cockpit of the ship from hyperspace, the cargo hull nowhere in sight.

It was followed by the ASSD that had found it, following the trajectory to the same gravity well generator. The captain of the ship moved them closer, ordering the tractor beams to pull the ship in.

“Get a life scan on it before it comes to the hangar, I want a salvage team, a medical crew and a security crew on site when it sets down. Get our men moving!” The captain uttered at the bridge crew.

“Sir, there’s no life signs on board. Any crew may have been on the rest of the ship before it split…” one of the crewmen reported.

The ship was pulled into the hangar and the security team found the laser barrier on the doorway that once lead to the cargo hold. Using the panel beside it, they dropped the lasers and entered, finding the barely functioning droid.

“Sir, we found something.”

There were no forces they could send immediately to retrieve the rest of the ship, however there was hope that the droid could give some insight to the situation.
