Rake stood unmoved in the background, even when acknowledged by the Grand Admiral, he dared not return a gesture, nothing so informal. He'd gone from extremes from being essentially expelled to having his name dropped upon a Grand Admiral's desk. Of course he was happy with the outcome, but this wasn't how he'd planned on getting noticed by the Higher tier of Naval Command.
Then the offer came.
He was almost immediately inclined to snatch at it, however he'd learned from being Starfighter pilot to not take the first opening, no matter how accessible or appealing it was. Although he was fairly confident the inclusion into Inferno was sincere, he honestly didn't see his career progressing past this. His weakness, in terms of present company, definitely lay in his ground combat. This wasn't his failing, but he was going to be sure to brush up on some techniques to cover that weakness for future purposes, but the truth remained, he'd never excel in the field and he knew that was his key to success in Imperial Special forces.
Seizing the initiative, he went for a second option, one he wasn't entirely sure was there.
"Sir, Officer Cadet Tybar. I'm honoured for the opportunity to join a special forces division, however as it's been noted by the mission report, although I wasn't found wanting, I feel I may have been in fiercer circumstances, which I'm sure Inferno will see on frequent occasion. I feel my skills are as a pilot, but I would ask for an opportunity. I would seize any opportunity you would permit, to join the Imperial Command Branch in your Naval forces. Although I've not any experience of commanding a craft larger than a gunboat, I know my math scores surpass the old Coruscant standard and I know my trade as a fighter pilot would be invaluable in commanding the bigger picture. Of course if you or the Commander insist, I will yield to whatever position you see fit. However, I 'know' I would be a safe investment, and what I don't know, I will do." He pleaded his case before adding 'Sir' again at the end.
He knew it was stepping on toes, but with an opportunity to deliver a career application pitch to a Flag officer, he'd have been a fool not to take it, and worse yet, a terrible fighter pilot. It was the opening they all looked for, after all.

(OOC: Is there anything I can be doing in the meantime? Or is there a period of time that needs to pass before I can delve into other Roleplay? Sorry for the questions. Thanks for your writing thus far.)

Re: Theory to Reality
OOC: Not sure if you meet the requirement but PM Argus Kraiov or another staff member and ask if you can fully register on the other site for the shop and stuff. Also might want to poke him to get his response in here so you can be officially let into the Empire and all that.

OOC: Welp. I've no clue where he's run off to but he'll get to you eventually. In the meantime... STALLING
Rhoden glanced at the cadet, it seemed he had larger views than the lovely missions of Task Force Inferno. Rhoden didn't blame the boy, not everyone harbored so deep and personal a grudge with the rebels as he did, and besides, he had once commanded vessels far larger than the Hydra, though admittedly far less extensively equipped.
The Admiral seemed to be pondering the cadet's words, and Rhoden allowed himself a brief moment of musing. The Hydra was comfortable enough, but it would be rather nice to have a true base of operations. Somewhere with facilities for off-duty times as well as the rather specialized tasks that needed to be performed at times. Not to mention somewhere to service the Hydra.
Rhoden cut his musings off and returned his attention to the Admiral. Perhaps the subject would be brought up in the future.

Re: Theory to Reality
‘ Interesting’ was not a word fit for this scenario; a Naval Commander taking a great amount of stock in a mere Cadet. Argus’ first notion was to simply send the Cadet off to brush his skills up at Blackmoon Base over Borleais in which he’d be deployed on the next ship of the line out to the Prelemian Trade Route or further to the Galactic South. He’d serve well, likely though he’d die in some pithy engagement set as a footnote in this long war unless he showed himself to be truly exceptional and survived long enough to progress his career into more solid starfighters and beyond.
But what Commander Carbine was suggesting was to take this ‘no name’ potential and stick him in some of the most advanced Imperial technology to date while slapping him with a security clearance and slating him to serve aboard the ENF Hydra, among the best the Empire currently had to offer. Interesting… there was something in this man that Rhoden had seen as standout among the rest; be it his intuition or a gamble, Argus knew not, and frankly he didn’t want to question the Commander’s decision. It was why he waived recruitment permissions to be of Rhoden’s own experienced backed calls.
Even so, while it was Rhoden’s unit, it was also Argus’ responsibility to ensure that Inferno was protected. Slating an unwashed recruit in a slot fit for a hardened veteran surely was grating on his instincts to just send this boy to the line and let him prove himself. Perhaps in that moment a flicker of disapproval or reluctance flashed over Argus’ features though was gone at once as he spoke in finality.
“Done,” he said with a nod, “Consider Cadet Tybar immediately commissioned for active duty aboard the Hydra. Though, an irregularity; I’d like a biweekly update on his progress to see for myself why you’ve chosen him.”
Without skipping a beat Argus reverted back a bit, “Excellent work on that terrorist cell, Commander. No time for any downtime however, get your task force refit and ready to deploy. More information will be forthcoming as the mission time arrives. Kraiov; out.”
Ending the transmission, Argus’ visage faded away to leave Rake and Rhoden in silence once again.
OOC: If you haven’t already, apply for your character on the homepage and once approved, be sure to apply for the Galactic Empire Faction! Welcome to SL! Let me or Rhoden know when it is done so we can get this ball rolling.
