A veteran and a droid walk into a bar (contInued)

Post by Vek Terceron » Fri Sep 15, 2017 9:55 pm

---- Office of the Comander ----

"Gentlemen I'm going to allow the squad commander to hear the judgement. He will pass that along to those involved, you've heard the case and their answers judge. We may proceed any time."

"First on the charges of endangering the general public the penalty is, five thousand credits or eighteen hours community service. Both parties have been proven guilty of this crime from the evidence shown by the droids. As to the charge of menacing, the gentlemen Vek Terceron's claim has been verified, his weapons are registered with one of our port authority. Vek Terceron sentence is five thousand credits or eighteen hours community service. Anakin Maramuduke sentence is five thousand credits or eighteen hours community service, plus an additional ten hours community service. The sentence for menacing has been lowered in consideration of the Galactic Alliance and Jedi Coalition's involvement in this issue. The guilty parties my choose which they prefer community service or fines, except in the case of Anakin Marmaduke's sentence of an additional ten hours of community service. This is the verdict. If you will excuse me now."

Without further ceremony or show the judge made his exit leaving the Defender's Commander, the Jedi Master Xin and Derric Starr.

"The Alliance will pay the fine for Vek Terceron, if he chooses to pay the fine, as Master Xin has offered to pay Padawan Marmaduke's. Please inform him that an agent of the Galactic Alliance is waiting to speak to him in an official capacity if he truly wishes to join the Alliance."

---- Conference Room ----

"I have been informed that your sentencing has just concluded. Vek Terceron you are sentenced to eighteen hours of community service or a fine of five thousand credits. The choice is yours.

Anakin Marmaduke, you also are sentenced to eighteen hours of community service or a fine of five thousand credits, likewise the choice is yours. Anakin Marmaduke you have also been sentenced to an additional ten hours of community service as a reduced sentence for the crime of menacing, this is not an optional sentence regardless of your choice for the other part of your sentencing.

Also Vek Terceron there is an agent of the Galactic Alliace waiting to speak with you if your wish is in fact to join the Galactic Alliance.

Madam, your offer to pay the fines will not be necessary at this time, the Padawan's Master has agreed to pay his fine should he chose to pay it, as has the Galactic Alliance for mister Terceron. Gentlemen before you decide on fines or community service allow me to inform you of the job which you will be doing for the people of Coruscant. Padawan Marmaduke you will be doing at least ten hours either way. Your community service will be in the form of escort duty through the lower levels of Coruscant. You will be escorting younglings to and from their schools by foot. The lower levels are a dangerous place for adults let alone younglings. This is serious business to the people of Coruscant. That is all"

(OOC: Sorry; I was gonna post myself but laziness + RL issues. xD But I guess this thread is ending so; let's wrap this up now in the next few posts, methinks? Also, commandeering Derric's NPC Judge in this post.)

Betrayal and rage scorched the heart of the green-eyed Padawan. All he had done was try to do something good for the Alliance, and obeyed Master Xin and did as he had instructed! Yet here he was, more in trouble than the one who was here illegally?! Well, okay, maybe he had been here illegally too, but-! But-! It was not the same thing! There was something wrong with all this! He was not being treated fairly!

He had never felt so angry and cheated in his entire life!!!

He felt a frightening pull at his heart. Something... he had never felt before. A void, that wanted to steal him from himself. To be him, in stead of him. To consume him, to hurt him. A predator that for which he was prey. Devoid of all life, overwhelming in pain, yet full of a pleasure fleeting, neither hollow nor fulfilling. It wanted him, called to him. It was him, but it was nothing like him! It was powerful yet vulnerable, raw yet artificial. 'You have been betrayed,' he could hear it, whispering sneakily only to him. 'You deserve better...' it was both a statement of perceived truth and a promise of deliverance in words with irresistible allure. Anakin was both appalled by it and yet, wanting to give in.

'Rage fuels the Darkness...' the voice cut through his mind like a butcher knife through a thick hide, yet it brought with it such solace that the horrific enticement itself seemed to writhe away in pain, like shadows ran before a candle brought into a dark room. The... Darkness? Of course, the darkside! It was fueled by rage. He had to resist the temptation, as Master Xin had told him. 'A flower may bloom or wilt,' another voice, much more powerful, yet... nearer than the first.

'Anakin Marmaduke? Are you alright?' the Judge asked, concern etched across his features. Anakin snapped out of his... trance, or whatever it was. Coming back to Coruscant, he realised he was sitting in front of the Dispenser of Justice, leaning forwards with his head held tightly in his hands as if he had a migraine, sweating and panting heavily.

“I-I-I'm sorry, I...” he trailed off. “Sorry, I need... give me a minute,” he paused for a few moments, as he closed his eyes and immersed himself in the Force and let it wash away the Darkness. Feeling a bit more at peace with himself, the Padawan opened his eyes and stared at the judge. “I'm sorry, it was, uh... Jedi stuff. Yes, you were saying... my uh,” he let the Force keep his anger quenched. “My punishment. I'll... I don't mind the younglings, I'm good with kids. And if my Master is paying the fine,” at the thought of his Master, he felt the ire begin to spark again. He quickly put it with the Force.

“Well, let him pay.”

With his part done, Anakin tuned the other people in the room out, took deep breaths and put his head in his hands again, though serenely this time. He began to silently meditate on the Force and recall that tempting trance he had experienced, trying to make sense of it. Til date he had only heard and read of the darkside. But to breathe it, to know it that... the power, the pain, the unadulterated rage ... it had been his first time, and it had almost consumed him. Had it not been for those comforting voices... He recognised the first voice, the one that had warned him of the Darkness, as Master Xin's. That also meant that he was probably nearby. But what of the starker, stronger and higher voice he had heard next...?

Kota felt the apprentice's anger, there were already far to few Jedi in the Galaxy to often turned to darkness before even knighthood. She moved over to touch his shoulder, her touch was warm, soothing, yet one could feel her power if trained to do so. "Anger and darkness have a price you should not listen to it." She said simply before removing her hand. She went to leave. "By the way your master is a jerk of a Jedi, he shouldn't treat you as such." She said as she continued on her way, she still had a gift to get.

Vek nodded as his sentence was announced, glad that the hearing was over. He glanced over at the padawan, who appeared rather disturbed by events. Vek considered the matter for a moment, and came to a decision. "I will serve the community service alongside him. While it's true the Alliance would pay my fine, I feel it would be better to give back for my error, rather than allow the government to pay for my mistakes. Besides, I figure he *tips his head towards Anakin* could probably use the assistance. Am I free to go now?"

The squad commander nodded as he marked down the results of the sentencing.

"We are done here. Thank you for your cooperation, and willingness to comply. Mister Terceron I've been informed that the Galactic Alliance representative has asked that once you are ready and your community service has been served, to make your way to an Alliance recruiting post and follow through on your intentions to join officially. Unofficially he is recommending that you be placed on a probationary term to see what you do during your probationary term and until you officially speak with another representative.

If there is nothing else you may depart, your community service will begin in the morning."

OOC That's a wrap on my end of things, from my point of view the recruitment part of this thread is finished given a confirmation from Vek to seek out an official sign on.

OOC: I'm done here as well. We'll set up the community service and after that is when we'll handle Veks official recruitment. I have already informed Anakin that he may start the service thread if he wishes.
