Neive looked back as the missiles barraged the ship before it shot into hyperspace, only a couple left as they turned their attention towards him. He disengaged his thrusters, turning the ship and firing on the last missiles, still moving in the same direction before engaging his thrusters, the quick change in direction jolting Neive back into his seat as his ship soared through the smoke, heading back towards the cruiser now that the missiles were dealt with.
Neive's aggressor sat down in the hangar, the rebels that were aboard the rescued transports being helped and debriefed. Neive walked towards them, a majority of them smiling at his sight.
However, Neive's demeanor was less than joyful. He walked towards the communications area, picking up a blank datapad.
Subject: defense of outpost Beta-336.
Result: failure, moderate casualties.
Death count(friendly): 77
Lives spared(friendly): 287
Death count(hostile): 4-8
Lives spared(friendly): 7+
Explain the situation:
Neive sighed.
"We were in isolated friendly territory, when we were fired upon by a covert imperial force. Evacuation ensued after the death of 30-35 soldiers from bombing runs and close combat once the base was boarded. The crew were then fired upon while in evacuation transports that held no guns, with their only protection a single Trilon aggressor piloted by the commander of the base defense. 2 transports were destroyed before an Alliance cruiser came to support, and imperial forces retreated."
A young man walked into the room as Neive looked over the report, shaking his head.
"So many were killed... Why? What was their goal?"
The sergeant put a hand on Neive's soldiers.
"That's a question for tomorrow. Today, you should be proud of yourself, commander... You saved hundreds of rebel lives when you had them evacuate."
"Even so, too many died for no strategic purpose,
and a majority were murdered aboard unarmed transports... I need to know why. "
With that, the sergeant sighed and left, leaving Neive alone to think.

Re: Space Race
Rhoden looked down at the man, he had been brought a board almost a week ago now and work on him had been all but complete during the mission. In any case Rhoden had determined, upon this one brief final session that all useful information had been extracted. He walked around to where the man could theoretically see him. He wore a stark white suit which covered his entire body, he wore also a white helmet with a clear visor which spanned his entire face. The man looked up at him weakly and continued muttering to himself.
"Well Mr. Kirlan I do believe our time together is at an end." the man's eyes rolled and he lifted his head, causing his entire body to convulse in pain. "Over? Free? Free?" he said hoarsely, straining against the holds. Rhoden smiled, "Yes. Free." he said. The man began to laugh but broke down immediately into coughs which produced blood. Rhoden keyed a control on the chair and laid the table back, the table disconnected from the mount and hovered. Rhoden pushed it out of the room, down a short hallway, and carefully maneuvered it into the incinerator unit. He pressed a button and the unit sealed, he heard a brief gasp before the seal was complete and muffled screams which cut out as the seal blocked off all sound from within.
Rhoden stripped his clothes off and threw them into another unit which would decontaminate them. He stepped onto a conveyor which moved forward and systematically cleaned him in a slightly intrusive manner. Stepping out he began drying himself and prepared to put his regular uniform back on when his comm pinged, he paused.
"Yes?" he asked, "Sir, Captain Vassyl's shuttle has just landed, he has requested a report on the recent action undertaken against the Alliance station." Rhoden smiled, "Acknowledged, escort him to the meeting room and alert the senior officers and other Inferno Squad members. I'll be along shortly." he proceeded to put on his uniform and walked out into a small space. A Lieutenant handed him a diamond, all that remained of the former prisoner. He examined it carefully, "Very good, send it up to the weapons shop and see if they can use it." he said, smiling slightly at the prospect of the remains being used to create and repair weapons which might one day be used against his pitiful allies. He headed for a turbolift and relaxed his expression into one of professionalism.
Several minutes later he walked into the room and took his seat, smoothing his uniform as he did so. "Hello again Captain." he said, "I trust the station's furnishings are to your liking?" he asked, gesturing to the side where a potted plant sat unobtrusively on the carpet.

Re: Space Race
[Power up, destroy them]
The soundbyte from the mission recording played over and over in a loop, while a stiffened Captain Vassyl observed the video footage on large wall-mounted holoscreen. With the back of his chair turned away from the bulk of the conference attendees, Doren shifted his weight as he perceived the Commander's greeting, and answered back in a low voice, "They are decidedly pleasant, Mr. Carbine, alas I am not here to discuss your taste in home decor". Rotating his seat about in a slow and meditative manner, Vassyl set his intense auburn sights on the Inferno Squad Leader, staring with an energy that bordered on internal mania. "Truth be told Commander, today was not the day I had planned to inspect your work here", Doren continued, keeping his gaze fixated on the young officer, "However, the details of this most recent operation demanded I appear before you as soon as possible".
Lacing his gloved fingers together, Vassyl paused for a moment, and exhaled before carrying on, "Even prior to the reactivation of this unit, my praises of your skill have never been particularly modest". The Captain stopped short, and the squish of leather on leather broke the silence for a brief second, until Vassyl spoke once more, "And yet, there have been phantom- concerns regarding your capabilities as a figure of authority". Fidgeting once more, Doren separated his hands from one another, and extended his arms as if to clutch a large section of the table with his palms alone, adding "At the same time, I believe in the power of growth, and the potential for an officer to learn from his errors and shortcomings". Ever so slightly, onyx finger coiled into two balled fists, and without warning, Doren rocketed up from where he sat, and unwavering spat, "That said, some lessons must be delivered when they are otherwise missed!".
The elevation of the Captain's volume did not go unnoticed, and several heads turned in direct response. Color fluctuating across his face, Vassyl hoarsely continued, "When I approached the admiralty with the proposal for your promotion, I expected you to conduct yourself as a soldier! Instead, you run about with the attitude of a gladiator, and the instincts of pack hunter bereft of simple reason!". With a boom, one fist crashed down hard upon the polished plasteel table, inviting another extension of Vassyl tirade, "You blatantly forwent any offers of surrender to a defeated enemy, and became so fixated on your kill count that you nearly presented your entire team as fodder to an enemy cruiser". Breathing far more heavily than before, a winded Doren sank back into his chair, yet would not be silenced, "Yes Commander, you are indeed talented, but those talents are sorely want for a helping of discipline, lest you inspire such recklessness in those that serve alongside you".
Emotional strain rippled across Vassyl's face, and it became more and more obvious that he took no great pleasure in his speech. Internally, Doren felt grateful that his comments were nearing their end, and returning to his usual softness elaborated, "The base was lost, the battle was won, yet you pressed an unrealistic front, and achieved not but the senseless deaths of a beaten foe. I have no great affection for livelihood of traitors, and at the same time, such acts only serve to bolster the enemy resolve, and fuel their youth with tales of a barbaric and heartless oppressor". Sinking back further into his chair, Vassyl extended his point with a flick of the wrist, "Sometimes, clemency can be a far more powerful tactic than devastation. It colors us as a government, and illustrates that we have the means to act in a way that clashes with the purported narrative of who we are as a people".
Retracting his gloved hand once more, Vassyl returned his hands to their previous embrace, and concluded, "At this time, there will be no formal punishment for your actions. Conversely, as your superior and fellow comrade, I encourage you to seriously reflect on your work thus far. There are others who monitor the progress of this unit Commander, and I can assure you their eyes are not nearly so kind as my own- you would do well to remember that". With a slight exhale, Doren keyed the controls for the table's built-in holoprojector, and the blurred image of a swordsman came into view. At last, the Captain reflected on a new point of discussion, "That will be all on the subject, I shall say nothing more of it, nor do I invite any forum for protest. Instead, I'm keen to hear your thoughts on the individual with whom you personal crossed blades with Mr. Carbine- the individual which we suspect is the ringleader of this unit".

Rhoden remained standing as the Captain began his response, his posture, movements, voice and facial expression betraying him. Rhoden stood throughout the tirade, and sat upon its completion, unmoved. Jorvan leaned back and surveyed the Captain. Lieutenant Commander Mercado maintained an expression of stone.
"Your concerns are noted, Mr. Vassyl." Rhoden said. "In the future you will kindly refrain from assaulting the table, it is rather expensive." he added, gesturing to the crack in the black polished table where a few sparks flickered and the screens beneath used to display data as necessary flashed static.
"As for the so-called ringleader, he was a decent fighter, I would presume Force-sensitive, and a nuisance." Rhoden said, "He was the primary cause for damage to the Hydra, pulling a move that should have been physically impossible, and evading capture as a result." Rhoden sighed, "He could be a cause for much trouble if he goes unchecked, but hopefully we'll have more information on him soon--we have captured several transports and taken the rebels aboard prisoner. They will be interrogated." The screen in front of the Captain emitted a high-pitched hiss.
"You can remain here to observe the interrogations or I can transmit the results upon their completion." Rhoden said, knocking on the table pointedly--the table glowed white in its entirety briefly--he pulled out a datapad and began tapping on it as the table continued to flicker. Relevant information on the prisoners began flashing on the pad and Rhoden slid it over the table to the Captain.

Re: Space Race
Vassyl swiped the dataslate from the Commander without a second thought, and seemed to be absent-mindedly flicking through the various profiles before returning his attention to Rhoden, "Transmit the results once you've finished: I dare say we shan't get much from them". Leaning back further into his seat, Doren narrowed his gaze at the leader of Inferno Unit, before sternly adding, "As far as your deductions surrounding the alleged leader are concerned, I'm inclined to agree with you. I myself strongly suspect this to be the same individual that attempted to sabotage the Star Destroyer Rage some time ago". Vassyl squinted even more harshly, and his tone hardened to match, as he demanded, "If these prisoners of yours can produce a name, and a designation, I want it. If this person is indeed Force sensitive, then they must be apprehended, or annihilated at our earliest convenience". Straightening up, Doren's complexion soured as he posed one final question, "Can I trust you to handle this Commander?".

Re: Space Race
Rhoden's eyes glittered with malevolence--or perhaps amusement--before narrowing, "Of course, Mr. Vassyl." sparks flew out of the table at the Captain and Rhoden raised an eyebrow before activating his commlink "Cut power to the table in the briefing room, please." he said as a buzzing sound began continuously growing higher pitched. There was a moment of silence and the table fell silent and dark.
"Do try not to bleed on the carpet, it would be rather rude." Rhoden brought a hand up to his chin as a report came in from the interrogators. "Ah our first prisoner has been taken in--already yielding results, I'll keep you updated. Unless, of course, you're staying?" Rhoden asked, "I could arrange for you to be present during the interrogations."
