U4GM Tips for Testing Diablo 4 Armor and Weapons

Post by luissuraez798 » Thu Oct 29, 2026 9:53 am

The fastest working Diablo 4 armor and weapon test setup starts at Mrak near the main Waypoint: claim Grant All Runes, claim Grant Seasonal Items (Horadric Items), then activate a two-piece Talisman state with matching jewelry and one charm. While the PTR supplies the needed setup, Diablo 4 runes can sit beside your test plan as an alternative to spending early hours collecting materials. Keep the focus on the Mrak Equipment boosts first.

Start at Mrak and claim the required boosts

The PTR window runs from October 27 at 10am PDT through November 3 at 10am PST, so avoid side routes before the core loadout is ready. Reach the main Waypoint hub, speak with Mrak, and open the Equipment boosts section.

Choose Grant All Runes and confirm the purchase. The rune collection barrier is removed, allowing the same rune setup to remain available across repeated tests.
Choose Grant Seasonal Items (Horadric Items) from Mrak. This supplies the Legendary Horadric Items that connect equipped gear to Talisman sets.
Keep the supplied items in your inventory until the jewelry and charm match is decided. Randomly equipping them can hide the pieces needed for the first set breakpoint.

Use the inventory as the confirmation point after each claim. The rune boost should be available for configuration, and the Horadric Items should appear as usable inventory pieces. Do not leave Mrak for dungeon routes or crafting detours until both boosts have been handled.

Activate the two-piece Talisman state

The jewelry affix that grants +1 set bonus count is the key to the first breakpoint. Matching jewelry plus one matching charm reaches the 2-piece Talisman requirement, so two charms are not needed for the initial setup.

Inspect each jewelry piece and find the Horadric affix that grants +1 set bonus count.
Equip jewelry that matches the charm set you plan to use.
Place one matching charm in the Talisman slots.
Check the Talisman set counter and confirm that it shows two pieces.

A counter that remains at one piece means the match is incomplete. Re-read the jewelry affix, confirm that the charm belongs to the same set, and replace only the mismatched item. Do not add extra charms before correcting the jewelry match; the first breakpoint depends on the +1 set bonus count affix.

Test armor and weapons without mixing variables

Armor and weapon Horadric affixes add their effects only when Talisman set bonuses reach at least two pieces. The two-piece counter is the gate, so inspect that counter before judging any armor or weapon effect.

Equip one armor Horadric Item with an affix that requires at least a 2-piece Talisman bonus.
Equip one weapon Horadric Item with the same threshold requirement.
Record baseline damage, defense, and resource behavior while the two-piece state remains active.
Change one item at a time and repeat the same encounter.

When an armor or weapon effect appears missing, check the Talisman counter before changing the item. A broken jewelry match or an incorrect charm can remove the set condition and make valid affix text appear inactive. Keep the rune configuration fixed during gear comparisons, then test rune changes separately so a result has one clear cause.

Inventory control and PTR time management

Sort Horadric Items by slot and preserve the pieces that form the working baseline. Mark jewelry with +1 set bonus count, one matching charm, armor with a two-piece-or-greater effect, and a weapon with the same threshold.

Use Mrak for Grant All Runes before every repeat test.
Use Grant Seasonal Items (Horadric Items) when more Horadric Items are needed.
Keep the jewelry and charm match intact while testing armor and weapons.
Avoid Merchant of Mystery for this route because it does not advance the planned jewelry +1 set count setup.

The efficient loop is Mrak, Grant All Runes, Grant Seasonal Items (Horadric Items), matching jewelry, one charm, one armor piece, one weapon piece, and the same encounter. Finish each pass by checking both the 2-piece counter and the at-least-2-piece armor and weapon effects.

Next, return to Mrak before the next test, verify both boosts, and check the inventory against the two-piece setup; only after that should you compare spare D4 items for sale with the pieces already supplied for the PTR baseline.
