- Grand Admiral Thrawn returns from the Unknown Regions to unite the squabbling warlords of the former Empire under a single banner.

- The Thrawn Crisis.
- Grand Admiral Thrawn begins a daring campaign against the New Republic beginning at Sluis Van. The culmination of this campaign was the crushing of the Republic fleet at Bilbringi, where Thrawn survives an assassination attempt by his bodyguard Rukh thanks to a loyal Noghri, Craggnosk, and goes on to crush the Republic fleet.
10 ABY
- Grand Admiral Thrawn's offensive gains momentum as more warlords flock to him. The New Republic begins to buckle under the pressure of so many military defeats.
12 ABY
- The Battle of Coruscant. After a series of crushing defeats the Republic gains intelligence of an attack on Coruscant. The intelligence is revealed as a ruse. The rebels prepare to defend Corellia, however Thrawn played a double bluff, taking Coruscant easily and destroying the new senate building in the process.
- The New Republic effectively collapses as many former republic worlds bend the knee to Thrawn.
- Former Republic military assets withdraw to the fringe, and begin a guerrilla war, once more calling themselves the Rebel Alliance.
- Luke Skywalker and his son Obi-Wan disappear under mysterious circumstances. Corran Horn adopts leadership of the Jedi Academy, reforming it as the Jedi Praxeum.
14 ABY
- Under mysterious circumstances a cabal of dark force users rise to galactic prominence on the long lost planet of Korriban. They claim as both culture and heritage the lore of the ancient Sith Empire.
- Almost immediately the fledgeling Jedi Praxeum commences undermining their activities wherever possible.
15 ABY
- Having spent many years in seclusion the Ssi-ruuk launch an invasion of known space. The Jedi, Sith, Empire and Rebel Alliance form a non-aggression pact, and form a joint taskforce to meet the Ssi-ruuvi fleet, destroying them utterly and neutralizing the Ssi-Ruuk threat. It will be many years before the Ssi-Ruuk regain anything approaching their former strength.
- A Force practitioner known as Lady Death forms the Shadows, a Force group seeking to balance the light and dark sides of the Force.
16 ABY
- In the aftermath of the Ssi-Ruuk invasion the Rebel Alliance and Jedi negotiate a new establishment of the Republic on Corellia. Many worlds, especially those of the Outer Rim, join the second "New Republic".
- In the face of the New Republic threat, Grand Admiral Thrawn decides that the Empire should once again have an Emperor, but, in order to concentrate entirely on the war effort, appoints the Noghri Craggnosk as Emperor instead of himself.
- Emperor Craggnosk immediately declares war on the New Republic. A battle for Centerpoint Station in the Corellian system ensues, and after an aborted attack on Coruscant the Republic is driven from Corellia.
17 ABY
- The Sith and Jedi truce ends at the discovery of an ancient Sith holocron, which sparks a heated conflict on Yavin IV. The Sith are sorely beaten as Stark Valkruk of the mercenary group 'Red Flight' uses an asteroid to scatter their orbiting forces. The Jedi claim the holocron, but it is lost many years later when stolen by a fallen Jedi.
- Regardless, the conflict re-awakens the Sith's interest in their ancient temples on Yavin IV, which they secretly re-occupy later.
-The Yuuzhan-Vong launch an invasion of the Galaxy, hoping to capitalize on the instability of the last few years.
-Rogue Vong Daeltos Shai immediately rallies the factions of the Galaxy against the invaders. Centerpoint Station is unleashed on the Yuuzhan Vong. Ithor and Belkadan are reluctantly destroyed in an attempt to deny the Vong vital resources.
- After a costly fleet engagement the Vong invasion force is dispersed and most of their worldships are destroyed.
18 ABY
- The Empire, badly broken by the Vong Invasion, withdraw from Coruscant. The New Republic establishes a new capital there, and begins to rebuild. Over the next few years Coruscant will be fought over and change hands between the Empire and the Republic a number of times. For many, this symbolizes which of the major factions is in the Chiss Ascendency.
- Rand Cauthon and Bendan Bluesilver depart the notorious mercenary group 'Red Flight' in order to found the pirate organization 'The Blue Star Pirates' on the distant and little-known world of Ryustlore. Shortly afterward, Red Flight collapses.
19 ABY
- Rogue Scientist Dr. Darin kidnaps several major galactic figures and begins a cloning project. At first, his motives are unclear.
- Many of Darin's victims escape from their prison and set about undoing the madman's schemes. They manage to slay both Darin and the vast majority of the clones. However, not before he crashes an Interdictor Cruiser into Honoghr, causing much destruction and further resentment of the Noghri towards outsiders.
- The Death Star III, codenamed 'Havoc' is completed. The Empire immediately set about demonstrating the power of their new weapon by dispatching it to the Shadow homeworld of Dathomir. Despite the best efforts of the combined Shadow and New Republic fleets, the Death Star reaches Dathomir intact and proceeds to destroy the planet.
20 ABY
- Perhaps in response to the destruction caused by Project Havoc, Ben Kenobi, the secret son of Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi and The Mandalorian Dutchess Satine Kryze, kills the Emperor Craggnosk. Grand Admiral Thrawn reluctantly resumes leadership of the Galactic Empire.
- A Sith known as Darth Diabolus breaks away and founds the Cult of Dragons with his followers, with the apparent intent of bringing chaos to the galaxy.
- The Maw Facility is destroyed by a strike team comprised of Jedi and New Republic operatives.
- The Corporate Sector Authority invades the Jedi homeworld of Ossus, occupying the world and destroying the Jedi Temple. Shortly afterwards they form an alliance with the Empire, and are given Corellia as their new capital.
21 ABY
- The Death Star III appears above Dac, the Mon Calamari homeworld. However, intelligence of the destination had been attained by the New Republic and Shadow and Republic ships were sent to defend the planet. The Blue Star pirates also attend the battle after a Mon Calamari Captain makes the case to the pirate council.
- The battle is devastating. The Death Star explodes in mid shot, saving the planet, but at a high cost-- much of the seas of Dac were boiled, causing untold damage to the ecosystem. The Empire withdraws, having caused much harm to the Republic fleet as well as the planet itself. The reasons for the Death Star's destruction are unclear and the subject of rumor for years to come.
- An exploration team on the fringes of the Endor system discover the wrecked remains of the Super Star Destroyer Executor. When news of this discovery reaches the rest of the galaxy, many large organizations begin scrabbling to claim the remains as their own. However, a battle over the wreckage results in much of the salvageable materials being destroyed, and many groups leave empty-handed.
- Leader of the Blue Star Pirates, Bendan Bluesilver and his trusted companion Rand Cauthon, disappear under mysterious circumstances. Captain Jay Mertaal assumes control of the pirate group and begins a significant project of expansion.
- A rebellion on the Imperial-controlled moons of Zhar leads to Moff Darken seceding from the Empire and attempting to construct a Galaxy Gun. He is thwarted when fleets from several factions join forces to decimate his fleet and annihilate the under-construction superweapon.
- The Jedi Order, under the guidance of Ben Kenobi, end their former separation from the New Republic and merge with it, allowing their Knights, Masters and Padawans to take military roles within the New Republic.
22 ABY
- The Duskhan League, comprised of the Yevethans, their slave species and mysterious allies from the depths of the Unknown Regions, strike out against the rest of the galaxy. Raids on both Tatooine and Ryloth result in the death or enslavement of tens of thousands of sentient beings, and battles are fought against the League across the galaxy.
- Finally, the desperate forces of the galaxy launch an ambush at Corellia, striking at the flanks of the League's fleet as it attacks the orbital defenses above the corporate capital.
- The fleet is destroyed, but at great cost; massive swathes of Corellia are devastated, and the CSA is thrown into chaos as the Prex, Exo and Direx board are presumed dead amidst the rubble of the CSA headquarters. The Empire launches a retaliatory strike against Yevetha, enacting the Base-Delta-Zero protocol, utterly devastating the Yevethan homeworld.
- The Imperial Procurator for Justice, Hethrir, turns against his masters in the Empire, claiming that they are unfit to stand in Palpatine's place. From his worldship, the warlord gathers a mighty force and prepares to strike against the galaxy, only to be defeated when the BSP use stolen Republic viral weapons to annihilate his army.
23 ABY
- The Cult of Dragons, long a source of fear for many of the galaxy's denizens, fall upon themselves in the absence of their fell leader, Diabolus. Seizing this opportunity, many other potent forces turn upon the Dragons, crushing them beneath the force of their fleets and seizing what few assets remain.
- In the aftermath of the Dragons' destruction, the Shadows, often seen as another weak force, retreat to the safety of Zonama Sekot.
