As Doren wearily deactivated the chess program, he treated himself to what was, for all intents and purposes, the greatest shipyard the galaxy had ever seen. In truth, Vassyl's own homeplanet of Jaemus hosted a sizable industrial complex, but that was reduced to technical folly by comparison to the titanic ring that orbited the ever-busied core world. Such man-built marvels had stirred awe in the naval officer from the days of his early youth, and the admiration he felt then had only increased as time went on. Here was a tradition of Imperial merit, and it was a tradition he and his cohort had honored well through their service. As far as deliveries were concerned, few could be more agreeable or more worthy than this.
