Kalidor Freight - 0624

Post by Ben Kenobi » Fri Jun 07, 2024 4:59 am

He smiled at the confirmation of his calculated coordinates over the navicomputer. For some time now he had been studying how to make jump calculations himself. Of course he ran the navicomputer's own program and allowed the ship he was on to create its own set as a way to double check his own. It was a pleasant thing though to find such distractions in the middle of the murk of the day to day. Even though most often the navicomputer's coordinates were often more accurate than his own.

Logging his data alongside the navicomputer this round though had put his calculations in line with the ship's estimates and that was satisfying for him. It was the little things. A small victory here and there.

With the confirmation, however, the trip was set and a bright blue beacon sorted itself on the heads up display. The bridge of his freighter was a sound place as the confirmations came through and the twin freighters of the hauling company, Kalidor Freight, came up to flank speed towards the jump point.

The twin freighters of Outland Transport had been leased out for the last several months to support other Blue Star Pirate ventures, but now Buggie was back behind the controls. Buggie had been contracted to assist with a shipment being run for the Galactic Alliance. While it wasn't his top preference, the job would pay, so Buggie could swallow his distaste for the moment. Getting into position for the jump, Buggie readied the transports.

Transport Vessels:
Action V Transport Outland 01 - 320 RU
Action V Transport Outland 02 - 320 RU

Pilots:
Action V Transport Outland 01 - 4x RX-24 Pilot Droids
Action V Transport Outland 02 - 4x RX-24 Pilot Droids; Master Buggie

It did not take long for the navicomputer to sync with the other vessels in the convoy and once done the collective moved towards the nav buoy and subsequently initiated the jump to hyperspace. Ben was particularly pleased that no interference had come to accost his little flotilla and they were all able to make the jump in unison and to further his approval of the situation, they were also on time. A timely delivery to Ossus meant construction efforts could continue without funding troubles and those kinds of troubles were the last thing the Ossus Temple needed during its reconstruction.

Ben sat back in his chair after getting a hot cup of caf, at first, he tried one with a new sweetener but after taking three good sips he decided that so far black was the best. It did not take away from the flavor and remained strong and not as diluted.

Retrieving a fresh cup, he now took a moment and savored the rich flavor. The troubles assailing him now? Not burning himself on this steamy brew...

Another pot of caf on the heater and another three cups down was parallel to the time it took for the convoy to make the short trip through hyperspace and erupt back into realspace over the glassy orange orb of Ossus proper. With one last swig down the Jedi Master then realized he really needed to 'go' but one the other hand a pair of Delta VIIs were hailing him for identification transcripts.

This was Alliance Space but it was also a world more or less controlled by the Jedi Coalition and ever since the Sith had been active in this locale the Coalition started running security patrols in the area.

Quickly and short of small talk the Jedi at the bridge of the BFF-1 Bulk Freighter danced his way to the refresher station, he had managed to transmit clearance just in time.

Arriving finally within the secure perimeter that was essentially a roughly made orbital facility of a bunch of docked together freighters and cargo containers with a mass of tugs lofting around to haul equipment from point to point in preparation to be brought to the surface of Ossus itself, the twin BFF-1 Bulk Freighters of Kalidor Freight slowed to a halt and were immediately assailed by facility personnel who began unloading and maneuvering cargo to holding locations for processing.

All in all, it was an easy flight and yet another mission accomplished.

Not bad at all...

"Swallow his distaste?" Buggie asked, as he read the shipboard display.

Buggie had been attempting to train the R1-series astromech droid bolted to the floor of the bridge to write reports on his behalf using a language module he had picked up at a traveling space market he had found on the Hydian Way. The results so far had been less than successful, as evidenced by Buggie's latest test. He had tasked the astromech droid to write a brief description of its surroundings, and the droid had chosen to highlight a passing comment that Buggie had made about shipping for the Galactic Alliance.

"It's complicated," Buggie explained to the astromech droid, "I wouldn't describe assisting Master Kenobi as something I view with distaste. Better log that for the next attempt."

With the twin Action V freighters of Outland Transport well underway to their destination, Buggie decided to set aside the personal project of having his droid write reports for him and decided to start on his overdue inspection of the ship. As he had learned in his many travels through the galaxy's hyperlanes, a wise pilot made sure that their ship was operating properly. Exiting the bridge after grabbing a glowrod on his way out, Buggie began his much-traversed route patrol of the ship. Without his usual companion, Antarian Ranger Gary Storm, who had left the Blue Star Pirates to go back to serving the Jedi Coalition, Buggie opted to leave most compartments of the ship unpowered, save for the minimum needed artificial atmosphere. It was eerie to traverse the dark corridors of the freighter on his own, but he knew that if anyone-- or anything-- were onboard with him, the Force would allow him to sense it long before it ever posed a threat.

As the transports eased out of hyperspace, Buggie looked upon Ossus with great familiarity. Buggie's journey as a Jedi had begun on the once-ruined world, and he came to be the Master of the planet's temple years ago. If Buggie didn't have to maneuver the slow-moving transports into position outside the makeshift orbital cargo depot, he would have taken more time to muse on his past and how long ago that chapter of his life had seemed. The other transports in the convoy were already in position to unload their haul, and Buggie was being summoned to bring his own freighters so their contents could be unloaded. This had been a simple and well paying job, and Buggie hadn't had to sneak into Imperial or Sith territory in order to complete it, much to his satisfaction.
