Outland Mining - Flight 0822 - Blue Star Pirates

Post by Master Buggie » Tue Aug 02, 2022 2:48 am

**Core Worlds**
**Corusca Sector, L-9**
**Coruscant System, Landing Pad SL-827**

Weeks had passed since Buggie had touched down on Coruscant with a delivery of food, medicine, and supplies filling the cargo holds of each transport to the brim. Those supplies had long since been depleted, and Buggie, idle after not receiving orders from the Pirate Council, had set to work doing what he could for the populace with his own two hands. The healing arts that the light side of the Force had gifted him had been put to good use, but they could not fill an empty stomach. Buggie had seen too many sentient children waste away from malnutrition, and he had seen more violence erupt from the ongoing food riots. He himself had never been in danger, though he had been forced to sweep families out of the indomitable path of the rioting masses.

At this point, even the landing pads that the Blue Star Pirates utilized were in danger. Rioters had learned of the provenience of the food and supplies that were coming in, and the Blue Star Pirates were progressively required to withdraw further into their own perimeter. Equipment and supplies that were not meant for general consumption by the starving public were hastily grabbed by the Blue Stars, but the momentum of the wave of rioting sentients could not be stopped. With the future of their presence in the Coruscant underworld decided for them, the Blue Star Pirates began their withdrawals. It was at this point that a blue jumpsuit-clad officer approached Buggie with long-awaited orders from the Pirate Council.

"We're loading these probes onto your transports. They're for delivery deeper within the Core-- high level stuff. Just make sure you don't fly through a star on your way," the deck officer warned, before turning his attention to another freighter captain.

Though getting to Coruscant in the first place took a degree of creative navigation, it was nothing compared to the galactic core, which was dense with stars and other celestial phenomenon and irregularities. Making a mental note to update the navicomputer to the latest navigation data that the Bureau of Ships and Services had to offer, Buggie strode up the boarding ramp and to the bridge. This was not a journey to take unprepared, and he hoped that the Blue Star Pirates had thought to provide some extra escorts for the journey. If not for protection, at least more ships meant that navigation computers could be linked to work the complex algorithms that hyperspace navigation in the Core would require.

"They want me to do what?!" Adar screamed at his holocommunicator device. The hologram of Kilt Vindon, flinched a little, and then gave an akward smile. "That is what the GA asked of you. The Blue Star Pirates are moving some valuable cargo. Probes, that will collect valuable information. You are to offer escort to that shipment, and note where those probes are dropped." Adar wasn't thrilled of the idea, but since he was on Corruscant after finishing another scouting mission, he would do it. "Guess we can't let the pirates have all that info for themselves. But I do wonder why didn't you or another ranger go instead." Kilt lowered his head in shame. "Well, a lot of us have in the past, and now they know our faces. But you never had a run in with them. And... as long as you pose yourself as a willing escort, you'll be fine!" Kilt seemed worried, even though he knew the padawan's abilities well. "Good luck, and stay safe Adar." Adar gave a nod, and closed the holocommunicator.

Adar thought he would have needed to persuade the pirates, but they didn't seem to question him that much. He used one of his many aliases, and offered protection as well as whatever knowledge he could offer. He wondered if all it was a bit too easy so far. But if they had even a slight idea of his true identity, they would not have allowed him to board. Well, either way, he signed up his ship "Lightbeam", and prepared for the trip.

The freshly minted Bronze Bantha, an Action V transport, sat quietly in one of the many cargo stations of Coruscant. The vessel had recently been acquired by the Antarian Ranger team known as the Silver Mynocks due to their increased activity and need for additional resources. Today however the said Ranger team had dawned their mercenary cover known as Sillu Company so they could keep a closer eye on BSP operations. It wasn’t the type of operation Ranger Captain Badaash preferred but sometimes he needed to follow orders. He redawned his old merc armor and identity of Llanthu.

Llanthu had overseen the loading of the Bronze Bantha and was now just waiting for the convoy lead to give the green light. The navigation data had been transferred and the vessels crew were sifting through it so they were clear on exactly where they were going. If everything went as planned this would be a clean and quiet operation allowing the Rangers to be back on the front lines by weeks end.

Zasabi yawned at the helm of his action V. Connected to the side like a barnacle was an XM-1 Missile boat, insurance in case of pirates or other interference. Shipping resources was always a bit of a boring task, like writing reports for GA Intelligence. This was why he preferred to leave it to his tried and true piloting droids.

"Alright bridge, I'm heading off to...uh, convene with the other captains. Make sure to maintain the magnetic locks securing the airlock hatches so we don't lose atmospheric pressure, yeah?"

Strolling out without waiting for a reply, he waited until he was far enough for their photoreceptors to not see him before picking it up into a jog. He had met with the other pilot before, a pirate formerly of the Jedi, and fought him even. This time, however, he was hoping to pass the journey with a more regulated match that would let him get better grips on Buggie's style.

Almost skipping with anticipation, Zasabi waited by the airlock for the ships to launch before joining together into their linked formation. While it was ostensibly for navigational purposes, it was useful enough for him as well.

LEVEL 859, CORUSCANT
CORUSCANT SYSTEM, CORUSCA SECTOR

"But, Master, we should be up there, with the vanguard," Rabé insisted as she approached her mentor and adoptive father, her ire reflected in the scowl on her face. She stood with her fists on her hips, impatiently tapping her foot on the durasteel-plated floor of the docking bay. Clad in white robes, her hood was withdrawn from her head, revealing her dark brown hair, styled on this dark day into twin side-buns. "Fighting. The Alliance forces need the Jedi. Maybe, with our help, they can save Coruscant from the Empire."

Nuur smiled softly beneath his cowl. The sandy brown-haired, bearded, middle-aged Jedi Master was serenely observing the porter droids helping load the cargo onto the Outland Mining vessels, forearms concealed beneath his brown cloak as he stood with his arms crossed. "The Jedi cannot be everywhere, young one. We are assisting the Alliance military, in various capacities and across various fronts, but we must always remember that we are not soldiers."

He turned his head aside, his blue eyes meeting her hazel ones. "That is a mistake our forebears have made one too many times. There are always ways to help that do not involve violence. Our escorting the GA and the Blue Stars, in this instance, as they transport valuable cargo and refugees off-world, is one such way," he turned his attention back to the porter droids, watching as they loaded cargo onto repulsorcarts and magnetically pushed them towards the gallery of Action V freighters.

"... It's too idle. I don't like it. I feel like we're lazing around while the galaxy is burning," Rabé scoffed, turning her gaze upwards towards the cloud layer that separated them from the higher levels of Coruscant.

"Whenever has the galaxy not been burning?" Nuur chuckled mirthlessly, and then closed his eyes. Rabé could tell he was reaching out to the Force for direction. "Rest assured, my young apprentice, I sense we may yet be called up there among the reinforcements," he opened them again, stepping towards the boarding ramp that undoubtedly belonged to the Action V that Rabé knew by the callsign Alpha. Rabé quickly trotted behind. "Until we are, though, we must serve the Light in more... mundane... ways. Like escorting your boyfriend."

Rabé huffed indignantly, her fair face quickly flushing. "He is not my boyfriend! That was one time, and we were undercover. At a kriffin' casino!"

Drawing her white hood upwards to conceal her hair, she stepped onto the boarding ramp of the Action V Alpha behind and in-step with her nerf-herder of a Master.

Realizing the ship had yet to take off, much less dock for the complex calculations they'd need to make, Zasabi changed course and headed to his quarters.

The room was surprisingly spartan for someone of such rich tastes. While the Theelin often came along for shipping runs for time to time, he didn't want to get too comfortable. After all, given the unstable nature of the galaxy at large, it was entirely possible that the ship could be lost, and anything on it could go with it.

Making his way to the closet, he began sifting through the little clothes he had set aside. A smile grew across his face as his fingers alighted upon a particular outfit, a jumpsuit of yellow and black. This would do. This would do perfectly.
