A new face comes forth (Marlith)
Two space vessels landed outside the starpilot Academy on Naboo. A Delta-7 Light Interceptor, named Lightspinner, and an old A-wing. The Academy personnel were already on the pads, expecting their arrival. Adar Bolner, a Jedi Padawan that had studied here how to fly a spaceship, had brought a new face with him. Well, she didn't seem to really need any lessons, but a recommendation. The Academy was where the Starfighter Command looked first when it came to recruiting new people, thus the place where it was most likely to get her recruited to where Marlith trully wanted to. Adar had tried to pull some strings to get Marlith into a squadron from the get go, but the bureaucracy and political scene of the Alliance was a monster that not even the entirety of the Jedi Counsil could defeat, much less an insignificant padawan. So they would have to do this the hard way.
Upon setting his feet down, the young man was greeted by a very important figure here at the Academy. The Director himself. "Padawan Bolner, welcome." The Director was a fairly old male Dressellian, but he had been an amazing pilot during the years of the rebellion. This along with his political maneuvers had landed him where he was now. He was curious to check out whom the Jedi Padawan had brought with him. It wasn't every day a Jedi brought someone to the GA, much less the starpilot Academy. Usually they kept to themselves, so for him to bring a young woman here... she must have been special. He had faith in Jedi's judgement, but he held the final world on everything.
"So, let's see who this woman that you have brought with you is." said the Director. Adar looked at Marlith, and encouraged her to introduce herself. He had done his part. Now it was her show.

“Marlith laurien nice to meet you. “
She extended her her hand for a hand shake. She gave the detector a kind smile.
“That’s my ship right there”
She pointed to the old wing. The a wing was old and a bit weathered from the sands.
“We’ve been together for 10 years fixed her up myself.”
She was clearly passionate about her ship she cared for it as if it was like family. She took great pride on the inside of the ship. She loved fooling people with how fast her sh could actually go. From the outside it looks like a old ship on it’s last legs.

Re: A new face comes forth (Marlith)
"Pleased to meet you miss Laurien. I am the Director of the starpilot academy here, on Naboo. Some of the best pilots in the whole rebellion founded this place, and ever since, we have had some of the best star pilots of the Alliance graduate from here." he paused to look at her. She did not seem that special at first glance. Just another wishful human coming to be a pilot. He had grown colder over the years, as he saw how many young sentients, who have heard the stories of the rebellion, came here only to fail at the first test. Most of them didn't understand that it wasn't easy being a star pilot, but he held his judgement for now. He looked at padawan Bolner, who was smiling and reassuring him with his hand gestures that everything was alright and that he should proceed. The fact that Adar had convinced him to even meet Marlith was a miracle, or Jedi magic as some would say. Whatever the case, the Director was not going to go back on his words. He was going to see what this woman was capable of.But first, he had to satisfy his own curiosity.
He followed her finger pointing towards an old looking A-wing. Her claim that she has had this for 10 years did not seem absurd, though she must have acquired it through... less that legal means. The Director honestly wondered how it had even managed to survive 10+ years, let alone be operational. But if her claim that she has been repairing it is true, then that would explain a lot of things. It would also be exceptionally impressive. He had never seen a potential star pilot already be familiar with the mechanics of star ships. Even if she only knew the inside of an A-wing, that was still more than 99% of all others that had applied to the Academy.
Now he was somewhat interested to see what Marlith could do. But first, there was something he need to ask.
"Interesting work miss Laurien. But, let me ask you this, if you may. Why do you want to be a star pilot? If your answer is "to be a hero", you might as well leave now. Don't get me wrong, we have place for heroes, but coming in with that mentality is... dangerous and reckless. The dangers to the Galactic Alliance are numerous. From pirates to those damn Sith lords the Jedi still have done nothing about." Adar wanted to interject here, but it was not his job to do so, nor did he want to start trouble right now over some silly passive aggressiveness. he set his emotions in balance and remained silent.
"My point is, playing the hero will get you killed, madame. And the GA has no use for dead pilots."

Re: A new face comes forth (Marlith)
“Being a hero that’s for suckers who do have a clue what the real world is like. I want something dangerous and on the edge I want to actually do something with my life. Ever since my old group split up I’ve been doing nothing but blaming my self and doing nothing. I don’t want to see where that road ends.”
Marlith already knew where that road ended she saw her mother go do the path as lover after lover left her. She ran from it as a kid and never hit her until years later when she had received word that she had died years later.
“So what do I need to start on”
She figured she was going to have to work her way up and she was ready for that she was no stranger to hard work she wouldn’t mind starting from the bottom.

Re: A new face comes forth (Marlith)
A broad, curious smile dotted the Director's face. She had potential. But it was time to prove it. He took out a small communication device, and after a few seconds, he turned to face Marlith. "I believe it is time to show your skills, miss Laurien. As I said before, padawan Bolner already out in a lot of good words, so there won't be any need to teach you the basics. Instead, a display of your flight capabilities will suffice." He paused for a moment, to breath and prepare what he was going to say next. "This "examination" will be in two parts. For starters, we do have a small flight test course. I must admit I am curious to see what that A-wing can do. The second part will require us to go to the flight simulators." And with that, he motioned towards Marlith, as well as Adar, to follow him. Adar approached her, his enthusiasm blasted across his face. "This is amazing! I am sure you are going to ace that course. The way you flew in Tatooine and in space was miles ahead of what the difficulty of this course can offer. Just don't get stressed ok? I'll be watching."
The Academy flight course was a large rectangle area, with various obstacles in various places. Loops in the area that flightcraft needed to pass through, various rocks piled up to look like the summit of mountains, or as cliffsides. There was also an open area, where various maneuvers were showcased to the observers. This all seemed overwhelming to most new recruits, but the experienced pilots found this to be a walk in the park. It was here that Marlith would need to prove that she was indeed an experienced pilot, and not some lying recruit with a Jedi friend.
Adar went to sit with the other observers, mostly Academy stuff and other new pilots, while the Director stayed with Marlith for a bit, explaining what she needed to do while in there. Off to the side, away from the crowd, Adar could see someone else stare into the test course. He seemed familiar, but Adar could not quite pin why. He was definitely not Force sensitive, and he had never met him before. The young padawan brushed it aside for now, electing to look for Marlith's success.
"Whenever you are ready, hop in your A-wing and bring it into the course. We will be in contract, and when I give the word, you may begin."

Re: A new face comes forth (Marlith)
Marlith Hopped in her A wing nodding her head. She lightly patted the dash. The sun faded blue paint was a bit chipped along with the green racing stripes on the outside. She whispered to her ship as she turned it on.
"Let's show them what we can do old girl."
She looked up at the director a fun loving fire in her eyes
"I'm ready"
She blasted off at top speed she had put so much love and care into the ship and it showed. Dispute it's looks it was fast and flew smooth. Marlith smiled as she passed the obisxales with ease. She even pulled off a few risky stunts. Her hands did at the nessisary requirements it was engrained in them. Her eyes were searvaing her soroundings as she made spit second distions.
"Your doing good old girl"
She raced through the last few obisxales with ease she's done these movers and much harder ones in the past. She pulled up to the start again.
"So how did I do?"

Re: A new face comes forth (Marlith)
The Director of the Academy was stunned. This woman's abilities... They were phenomenal. She passed each obstacle with such ease, that he would have accused her of cheating if it weren't her first time here. As she came back around to the start, she asked for her score. The Director, still a bit taken aback from her skills, stumbled his words for a moment, before speaking clearly.
"You did quite well miss Marlith. You are most certainly an experienced pilot. But how would you fare against some of our best pilots? This is the second part of this evaluation."
And with that, he asked Marlith to follow her upstairs, where the simulation pods were. Inside, 2 pilots were already prepared to face off against Marlith, at the Director's request. They were the two best pilots the Starpilot Academy had to offer, and to some degree this was their exam as well. They certainly weren't going to go easy on the new "prodigy", but they weren't official pilots yet.
Adar and the other spectators were not allowed inside. Instead, they would view the simulated "match" from a few megascreens. Adar could see that the somewhat familiar person he had seen before in the crowd was still here, and he seemed quite interested in the performance of these pilots. Adar decided to keep a close eye to him, as he seemed rather important on closer inspection.
The Director informed the 3 pilots of the place their fight would take place. It would be in orbit of naboo, in a simulated no gravity environment. He wished them all good luck, and observed the battle carefully.

Re: A new face comes forth (Marlith)
The two pilots were waiting one male Quarren who was level headed and calm his name was Isueoran . The other was a female Twi'lek she was out going with a warm bubbly personally her name was Ocoletin . The two were good friends. Their personalities mixed well together. They fist bump before heading to the simulation pods and waiting for the so called new prodigy.
Isueoran smile a cocky smile as he playfully teased his friend.
Isueoran : "bet I'll beat you and the new prodigy."
Ocoletin : "in your dreams."
They both waited for the director to come in. Ocoletin was excited to use the simulations again they were her favorite she had dreams of becoming a glorious pilot for the allicens.
lsueoran on the other hand kept his excitement under control. He wanted to be a pilot just as bad as Ocoletin but he wasn't as expressive of it. They stood ready and waiting.
The doors opened Marlith walked in she didn't look to impressive. Her dust cover jumpsuit with both sleeves torn off didn't help either. She looked like some scrap of the streets. Her short small frame didn't make her look two overwhelming either.

Re: A new face comes forth (Marlith)
Marlith greeted the two students she would be facing off against. The three got in the pods. The simulation started in mer seconds and like the director said it was a low gravity in the orbit of Naboo.
As the fight started up Isueoran and teamed up quickly on marlith. Marlith was a skill fighter she had a quick movements the three were engaged in a fierce dog fight. While Marlith was focused on Ocoletin she didn't realize that Isueoran got behind her. Isueoran stayed quiet and slow letting his team mate district the pilot. He fired a quick shot beating Marlith she was a tough opponent for him but in terms of skill he was a bit ahead of her his formal training gave him that edge of needed skill that helped the two win .

Re: A new face comes forth (Marlith)
After the simulation ended, the Director went to congratulate the winner. They had worked worked very hard and that effort manifested itself today. While Marlith might have lost the battle, such defeat was only able to occur once her two opponents worked together to eliminate her, in order to have a proper one vs one duel. Even the legendary pilots who fought in the battles of Yavin-4 and Endor could not have won against two opponents. But a defeat is a defeat. The Director was not so harsh as to not give the young woman a second chance. Though, it would take a while to find starpilots that could match her skill. Perhaps a rematch was in order. The Academy's schedule was tight, but he was sure he could fit that in. Somehow. He did not want that skill to go to waste, but at the same time there were protocols and procedures, and he had already bent quite a few. As he was thinking all of this and at the same time speaking with the 3 pilots, some else walked in...
-----------------A few minutes before-----------------
The crowd went wild seeing Marlith get knocked out of the battle. They wasn't necessarily any ill intent behind this reaction, but rather the excitement to see Isueoran and Ocoletin face off. The battle of Friends and Rivals. It seemed only Adar was not cheering anymore. He was sure that Marlith would make it, but everything turned in an instance. Such is the ways of battle. He looked around, taking one more good look of the crowd before heading to meet with Marlith. For a moment he wondered where that man had gone. Ah, no matter, he thought. He must have moved closer to the screens.
But as he headed for the simulation chambers, he could not believe his eyes. That familiar man was walking in that direction! He could sense it in the Force that it was him. As his mind raced to find answers, he felt a relaxing wave of clarity hitting him. The Force had given him the answer he was searching for. He quickened his pace, without looking suspicious or crazy. For that was non other than...
"High Marshal Gavin Darklighter!" said the Director in complete shock. "I... We weren't expecting you here today. What do we have the honor of being visited today?". Darklighter smiled warmly. "Relax, friend. I just passed by to check on the pilot exams. You know I love seeing new blood in action." he paused, looked around before locking onto Marlith. "That was an impressive performance. I have never heard your name, nor have I seen you around before in the Academy. If I didn't know any better, I'd say you just arrived! And if that is the case, your skills are legendary. he paused, allowing for her to take it all in. "I won't waste any more of your time. Welcome to the Alliance space pilots." Darklighter then turned to face the Director. "I understand she failed what is usually the final exam, but consider her passed. I'll make sure everything is sorted out with the higher ups." The Director nodded in confirmation, and then breathed a sigh of relief. His delema was solved thanks to this lucky encounter with the High Marshal.
Darklighter could feel that the other two were feeling left out, and perhaps a bit angry. After all, they had performed even better than this newbie. Gavin quickly addressed them. "Don't worry you two. You all passed. Welcome to the space pilots! In fact, I think you three will make an excellent squad. You all displayed remarkable skill today, and I hope that carries on in the future. Again, Director, I will sort everything with the higher ups."
And just like that, the Alliance had gained 3 new excellent pilots. Adar had overheard everything from the hall. He was glad that Marlith got her wish. It all reminded him of when he became a Padawan. He leaned against the wall, and waited for Marlith, as well as the others, to exit.
