The Unexpected Ranger

~Kota station~

“What in Yaddles name is a Dashade!”

A blond human female wearing the uniform of a Captain within the Antarian Rangers was frustratedly exclaiming just after getting news of a new recruit from one of her personnel. The one who gave her the news was a Twi’lek also in Ranger uniform but his marked him as a Sergeant. He currently wore a sly smirk across his blue face.

“A rare sight these days Cap,” the Twi’lek replied.

“What am I commanding now, a zoo for every two bit alien Merc out there.” Her frustration wasn’t really aimed at the fact she got a new recruit, it was the fact that in the last few months she had only gotten alien recruits and mostly of which didn’t come from ex-Alliance personnel.

“Mr. Badaash is more than qualified Cap, he was originally picked up by Captain Leveroth and is the only survivor from his last mission.” The Twi’lek responded, slowly trying to bring the Captain down. “He has also been recommended by Jedi Master Kenobi.”

“Alright, so maybe he won’t be half bad,” she conceded, feeling a pain from the recent news of Leveroth’s death. “But next time can’t we just get some Allianve soldiers. Wait, why isn’t this Dashade with you?”

“Oh he will be arriving soon, he went out with the recovery team to bring back the bodies of Leveroth’s team, apparently he doesn’t like leaving people behind.”

“A good quality,” she was starting to feel bad for even questioning the Coalitions decision to put the alien under her command. “Send him to the training room once he’s here, I’d like to see what he can do.”

“Of course Cap, and you might want to read the file I sent you on Dashade, you might find some of their natural ability’s... interesting, he might even pass up our old Bothan as stealthiest.” The Twi’lek laughed to himself before turning and heading off to the stations hangers.

The woman gave the Twi’lek a inquisitive look before herself turning and heading towards her office.

The Dashade’s appearance caused quite a few eyes to turn and look as it as it walked through the halls of Kota station, sure the Coalition housed species from all across the galaxy but Dashade’s were exceedingly rare. He still wore his mercenary armor since he’d not officially been sworn into the Antarian Rangers which caused him to stand out even more amongst the Jedi and their paramilitary counterparts. He followed a light green skinned Twi’lek Ranger who had introduced himself as Srid.

A large door slid open as the pair reached their apparent destination. Inside was a large open room, gym equipment lined one wall while several sparring rings lined the other and it even looked like there might be a shooting range on the far end. In the room stood a human woman wearing the armor of a Ranger, her blond hair was short cut, barely covering the top of her ears.

“Welcome to Kota Station Mr. Badaash,” the woman spoke, closing the distance to meet the pair half way. Srid stepped to the side of the Captain and turned to face the Dashade. “I’m Captain Vilsa Alim, apparently your my new recruit.”

Varn bowed slightly to show respect. “It is and honor Captain, I look forward to serving with you,” his low raspy voice responded.

Vilsa raised an eyebrow as she gave the grey skinned Dashade a once over. “I hope you are as good as I’m being led to believe Mr. Badaash, you sure have the natural intimidation factor but can you back it up?”

Varn looked around the room briefly before returning his attention to his new captain. “I wouldn’t feel right if I didn’t get to prove my strength to you Captain. May I have the chance to prove myself in your eyes?”

Vilsa was surprised by the Dashade’s demeanor but she quickly shook it off. “That was the plan, I’ve already set up one of the rings with a training bot,” she said as she waved her hand towards the sparing ring in question. “Please step into the ring and show me what you are capable of.”
