Kressara stepped back and placed her hands above her head, keeping herself between the ships and her companion as if her body would somehow stop any fire from hitting him. Things seemed most dire now, inescapable, and the fact that they were both very likely going to die now hit her like a bag of wet cement.

“Silly girl… Your escape is not over here! Destiny still has much to teach you on this journey!” His voice brought her out of the grave her mind was already digging. How could he say such things? How was he smiling? Her partner took control of the situation before she could protest and took aim at the ships, telling her to make a run for the hatch. Kressara didn’t hesitate to kill, but she did take pause when he asked her to abandon him.

“You’re mad!” She called back over the sound of the storm and the small fleet.

The firefight began and shots chased Kressara from his side, blasts connecting with the ground only inches from every retreating step she took. The girl sought cover within the hatch door and turned with hopes that Fate had followed her. No such luck. He stayed and fended off the ships single handedly while Kressara was forced to flee or be gunned down. Her hands clenched into a fist and a curse steamed from her lips with loathing. Once again she was the one to run away while another fought a battle she couldn’t hope to win. Once again someone was going to die because she was too weak to take on the threat herself. It killed her inside.

She turned her back to the sounds of war and flew back down the hallway they’d come from until she reached the stalled elevator. The bodies of the two guards were still lying in way of the sensors, preventing the lift from operating. A crazy idea came to mind and the girl leaned down to examine the condition of their armor. One had a busted helmet while the other had a damaged backpiece. Kressara yanked free the pristine articles of clothing with a quickness and pieced together a full set of armor. She slipped into the disguise and adjusted it as much as she could on her smaller frame, placing the helmet over her head after pulling her hair back and bunching it up on the top of her head. Her coat was left behind, though she first took the vile of powdered herbs she’d kept ever since Blood’s follower approached her on the passenger ship and offered it in an attempt to fool the girl. Kressara left the bodies in the hall and cleared the lift, then stepped inside and hit the button for the first floor.

The elevator descended and stopped on the third floor. Kressara popped the cap on the vile and prepared herself for whoever might be on the other side. Ding! A man in a uniform bearing some degree of higher rank stepped into the elevator and punched in a command for the 12th floor. The doors shut again and with an awkward, “Have they located the escapees yet?” The lift was set in motion for the bottom floor.

Ding! When next the doors opened the man was smiling pleasantly and giggling to himself, bidding Kressara fair well with a slow wave and powder on his face. With the dose she forced down his throat he’ll be on cloud nine for the rest of the day. In the hand not clinging to her rifle a remote of sorts was hidden by her grasp. She was getting into that armory after all.

As the doors to the security room whooshed open, Raphael continued to dry himself off. His silver eyes scanned the entire wall panel of video screens, showing every angle of this retched facility. It was easy to spot the girl at this point; she stuck out like a sore thumb and she was dripping rain everywhere. As the lockdown was going on, the only people that should be in the halls were the droids and guards. This made it very easy to track her every decision. Eyes dissected each decision that she made; she was being evaluated on what she would do without her prisoner friend.

Raphael watched as she blended into her surroundings, gathering armor for herself. “Clever girl…” He muttered to himself.

As his eyes scanned the screens, two guards walked in carrying heavy equipment. He stood up to meet him as they began dressing him with his armor once more. The bone plated set fit like a glove and his vibroswords fit comfortably on his back crossed in an “X”. He felt comfortable again, out of the dirty rags of prisoners.

The young Sith sat comfortably in the chair of the security room as he watched the potential one poison the guard. Surely she couldn’t keep this up long, especially if she was headed directly for the armory. He pondered what to do about this situation. A challenge was warranted for the girl, but he didn’t want her to give in so easily. Sitting forward in the chair, he looked her over carefully while she was on the elevator.

Raphael was amused so far by the mind games he was playing, so why not try some more? His voice could be heard over the PA system, “Come now girl, just give yourself in. This could all be over and you could be free of this wretched place.”

His fingers danced across the control panel in front of him. One finger pressed a button, releasing a surveillance droid to the armored girl. “You do not fool me girl. You can hide, but I will always know who you truly are.”

More fingers pranced across the control panel. “Decisions, decisions.” He muttered to himself. The prodigal son settled upon a button that released a Sith Warbot directly to her location.

Raphael sat back and watched the action unfold. He wasn’t going to let the girl reach the armory that easily. Another finger pressed a button upon his chair as he opened up the PA system yet again, “You will realize your potential girl!”

You know that feeling you get when you’re being watched? Yeah, Kressara didn’t have that sensation whatsoever as she walked down the depressing hallways. The familiar voice that came over the intercom punched her in the back of the head hard enough to halt her traveling. Shell shocked she searched for the source of the voice or any cameras he was using to monitor her from, but her efforts were stunted when a cavity in the wall opened to release one monstrous looking warbot.

You will realize your potential girl!”

His mode of speech gave it all away and Kressara realized too late that her “partner” had really been the enemy all along.

“YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!!” Her distressed hollering was muffled by the helmet she wore.

The warbot unfolded and engaged it’s weapons, swirling hands of razor sharp metallic talons and pistols mounted wherever the madman who designed such a machine could fit them. The girl was out gunned by that droid alone. She turned tail and fled with just as much agility as she’d shown him before, flying through the halls and bounding over a small service droid like her life depended on it. Truthfully, it probably did. The warbot kept up with her for the most part, plowing over the poor cleaner droid as it rounded the next corner after it’s target.

“No, no, no, no, no, no, NONONONO!!!” Kressara repeated as the roving death machine charged a small ray canon. The bot fired on her, narrowly missing her backside as she skidded into a janitorial supply nook for cover.

“YOU SCUM SUCKING TRAITOR! I TRUSTED YOU! I ACTUALLY FELT BAD FOR LEAVING YOU BEHIND!!!”

Another round of shots assaulted the door frame and interior wall as the mechanized clanking footsteps drew nearer.

“AND DESTINY ISN’T REAL YOU MANIACAL LOUT!!!” She screamed in frustration before slamming a fist onto the control panel, shutting the warbot out for at least a little while. The girl was fuming now.

Her verdant aurulian orbs scanned for anything useful in the supply closet. And just like that, a plan. She scrambled to her feet and gathered up an armful of concentrated cleaners, readying her rifle in the other. Kressara opened the door just long enough to roll the containers out into the hall and fire a round as the door shut again. Flames burst from the bottles and fireballed the droid, it’s systems struggling to repair the damage and extinguish itself even as the fire scorched it. An over excited “HAHAHA!!! SUCK IT!” Could be heard from inside the supply closet.

Kressara opened the doors for a final time as the flames died down enough to allow her freedom, rifle drawn and prepared to lay waste to the bot, but she vastly underestimated the workmanship put into the murder machine. A shot fired from the smoke and struck the side of her helmet, knocking Kressara to the ground. Ringing in her ears coupled with the burning sensation of the heated metal stunned the girl as it was all she could do to free herself of the damaged armor. She flung the helmet away from her, revealing a thankfully unharmed face and head of messy pale blonde locks.

“Annihilating target. 3...2...1…” Click!

The bot’s blaster malfunctioned from the fire damage and gave Kressara an opening. Her rifle was aimed for it’s core, shooting once. It knocked the bot back. Twice, the droid fumbled and one of it’s arms fell off. Her last shot obliterated the warbot, shutting down its power source with a satisfying bang.

Once the threat was over Kressara craned her head back and glared at a camera over the supply nook doorway, panting heavily as the ache in her head began growing. She was one lucky girl to not have any major wounds from such a hit, minus the potential case of tinnitus. Her eyes narrowed at the camera hand lifting and a suggestive finger raised with it.

Raphael leaned forward in his chair as he watched the events unfold before his eyes. Her determination outlasted anything he would throw at her it was very impressive. The potential in this one was great, she would one day make a great Sith like he himself would. If only she would just realize how great she was actually meant to be. The young Sith was going to have to step it up a notch from here on out, no more madness, just pure wicked and immoral acts.

The PA system sounded again, “You mock me and my beliefs girl but they will soon be yours as well.”

A gloved finger now pressed the button on the control panel sending an observer droid to her location. “This feeling of helplessness and weakness inside this facility can be the last time you ever feel this way. We will teach you to be more powerful than the weak that reside here. All you have to do is fulfill your destiny and realize your potential!”

The droid hovered through the hallways until it met the armored girl, “But I have a surprise for you girl! Follow the droid and allow me to liberate you! You wont regret it…”

As if on cue the droid began floating down the hallways. To insure the girl followed his wishes, a group of guards could be heard stomping ahead from the opposite direction. It was either follow the droid and survive or stay behind and get taken back forcefully into the cell.

The droid floated down the hall in attempts to lead the girl. Near the end of its path it came up upon the end of the hallway with one single door leading into a room. Upon entering the room nothing could be seen, it was dark and damp. Once Kressara was fully inside, the door slammed shut firmly behind her, taking away all of the light around her.

A quick light flicked on to the center of the room, with that revealing a man. This human male was chained up from the ceiling from both of his arms. He had tubes racing in and out of him, keeping him alive within this facility. The man was young but had scars all over his face. His bottom half was mangled from an accident that the young girl might have been apart of. The medicine constantly pumped into him kept him alive and awake enough for him to interact. He shook his chains, trying to get free. Even if he did manage to get free, it would be impossible for him to ever walk again.

The PA system rang again, “I understand you might know this man… He might have taken something from you that you want back? You may see him as one of us but he never has nor ever will be. He is weak and frail; he deserves retribution for what he has done to you Kressara!"

The prisoner’s eyes went up to meet the girls as a menacing laugh came over to PA. “Take back control of your life! Realize your potential! Start on the path that destiny has laid out for you!”

The break from running for her life was brief, but enough. Kressara caught her breath and rolled onto her stomach as the words of her tormentor egged her on. A new proposition was offered, or more so forced upon her, and soon the distant chorus of marching vibrated the floor on which she laid.

“This droid better be leading my foot to your backside, you snake!” The girl hissed with malice and followed after the messenger bot. Her gate was far less elegant than it had been before and her body hunched slightly. She was tiring out, that much was clear, but the little spit fire wasn’t about to lay down and accept defeat so easily. If this was to be her final fight against those who captured her, she’d make it a good one.

A lonely portcullis at the end of a corridor opened and inside a body dangled from its restraints. At first it didn’t appear to be anyone Kressara recognized until her gaze traveled further down. His legs looked like someone ripped them to shreds, feet not even distinguishable anymore from the sheer trauma his body received. Her eyes widened and an aching in her heart burned strong enough that surely her captor could sense it from his hiding place. The mangled apprentice raised his head and looked upon the farm girl with bloodshot eyes. Hatred contorted his facial features as a pained shriek spat from his mouth.

“YOU!!! It’s your fault!!!” He screamed at the girl who was paralyzed by his appearance. She thought she’d killed him…

“I understand you might know this man… He might have taken something from you that you want back? You may see him as one of us but he never has nor ever will be. He is weak and frail; he deserves retribution for what he has done to you Kressara!"

Her eyes went glassy, though she was far too dehydrated at this point to cry real tears for the boy, shaking her head solemnly as she never once gave herself the mercy of looking away. Anger, rage, misery, guilt, and regret weighed down on her shoulders so heavily that she thought the floor might give way with each step she took towards her chained enemy.

“I didn’t think you’d survive that…” She spoke to him with a soft tone, halting only inches from him.

The boy raged back, “YOU WISH I WERE DEAD, DON’T YOU!?”

Kressara didn’t answer him for a while, only nodding remorsefully. “Yes...yes I do. You’re suffering…”

“I HATE YOU!!!”

She hated him too. The burn of his saber still stung her shoulder with every move she made, the screams of her family as his master slaughtered them in cold blood haunted her subconscious, and still here he was! It hurt her all the more that she couldn’t muster enough hatred to exact revenge against him.

“You were just like me weren’t you? Someone probably stole you away and made a monster out of you...you probably fought just as hard for your freedom and for what? To repeat the process against another and end up broken beyond repair?”

Every word was an agony against the boy who thrashed so violently that his wrists began popping and cracking with his weight. It occurred to her that keeping him alive any longer would only be an act of torture. Kressara raised the barrel of her rifle up to meet his forehead while the boy still madly struggled, a blank look on her face as she pulled the trigger and ended what she started. Smoke rose from his skull and his body went instantly limp, his suffering over and done. Tossing down the rifle Kressara backed away from his tormented shell and dropped to her knees. Trembling hands rose to cover her face and a sob shook her entire body. Would she end up just like him? Someone’s project of evil and conquest that would end up dangling from a ceiling like a worthless piece of meat? White hot rage burned every nerve and her teeth grit with bone crushing pressure.

“I won’t let you turn me into just another body...I won’t let you warp me into a mindless killer...and I won’t let you make me just like him…”

Her words were a low growl, dangerous, seething.

“COME AND LET ME BREAK EVERY BONE IN YOUR BODY!!!”

Raphael watched in awe as she unleashed a furious dialogue between the apprentice and herself. Every fiber in his being wanted her to unleash all of her rage upon this pathetic excuse for a Sith. He wanted her to gut the man and make him suffer even more. Yet, he was sorely disappointed as the moment of his end drew near. As she offered him a merciful death, Raphael sat back in his chair disappointed by her actions.

His somber voice rang over the PA system again, “You disappoint me Kressara. I offer you revenge on a silver platter, something to take the pain away and you throw it back in my face!”

His voice grew louder and louder as it echoed, “You still do not understand girl! You will not be just another body! You will not be a mindless killer! And you will never be like him!”

The tone of his voice grew softer and softer. Plans developing throughout his head, “You WILL stand to command bodies such as this one. You WILL be a conscious butcher. And you WILL be better than him in every way.”

With that the PA dropped created a loud feedback sound. Raphael stormed from the security room towards the upper levels; he was leaving for the landing pad. He turned to one of the guard’s stationed outside and barked orders to him.

“Retrieve the girl and bring her to me. No more games, this ends immediately.”

The group of guards waited outside of the room for the girl as she exited. The grabbed both of her hands and dragged her to the elevator. They walked her past the mess and bodies she had made throughout the prison as the inmates continued to shout at her. This had been the most entertainment that had seen in years and she was finally captured.

The door to the landing pad flung open as the guards tossed her on the ramp. The armored men held their ground as they offered her no way to go back inside, she would have to face the Sith whether she liked it or not.

Rain had halted on this stormy day, but the thunder still rumbled in the sky. Raphael stood firm in the middle of the landing pad waiting on his prey. A ship sat idle behind him awaiting the departure of the prodigal son. He had hoped that he might be taking a willing potential recruit with him back to Sojourn, a contrasting place to this filth.

His arms extended outward, “Do I not offer you enough? I am giving you everything you could possibly dream of! You are not meant for a farm Kressara! Destiny has other plans for you, whether you like it or not!”

Slowly she rose to her feet as his words echoed throughout the chamber, leaving her gun behind. The Sith wanted to make something of her, she knew it. The guards would not be permitted to use deadly force against her and would likely take her directly to her enemy now. That’s what Kressara wanted. She wanted to end it. He failed to see that the boy she killed was no more the object of her hatred than anyone else was...it was him. It was his father. It was everyone who hurt her in this mad struggle to collect her. The boy with the busted legs was only a pawn to the master who meant to do just as Fate was doing now. He was a piece in the game which she removed from the board, now leaving her anger free to attack the man with the silver eyes.

The guards snatched her up just as soon as she surfaced from the room and dragged her down the halls while prisoners hooped and hollered excitedly. At least they were enjoying themselves before life would return to its usual hellish monotony. They pulled her along all the way to the landing pad before tossing her out into the overcast world. The rain had stopped and a bit of light peaked out from behind the rumbling front, showing just how battered the girl had become in her time at the prison. She had dirt smeared on her cheek, scorch marks on her stolen armor, and her once pristinely smooth flaxen tresses were now blow about and wild. Most of all those eyes had changed. He was right...she didn’t leave the prison as the same girl he saw before, but it failed to drain the life from her eyes. It failed to make a subservient mess of her mind. HE failed to break her all the way up till this point where the two would stand face to face for the first time without deceit. She saw who he really was now, and he could see her. The girl his father chose for him was just as untamed as any beast of prey, as resilient as any bone armor he could adorn himself with, and regal without claim to royalty. He could poke and prod at her cage, mock her, offer her gifts, declare that he was her destiny, but until he opened that cage door and faced the beast that lurked within Fate would never tame the wilderness in those eyes.

“You unknowingly admit that destiny is no more than your own will. You claim to be my fate and that I am designed for a future of your doing, yet if I overcame you now that future would dissipate like smoke in the wind…”

She braced herself with a vicious abhorrence as chaotic energy seeped from every inch of her aura. Her body though far smaller than his own took on an aggressive posture as she slowly began to walk the path of a circle around him. There was incredible rage in her all aimed on the Sith with the raven black locks and mercury light eyes.

“All this time you’ve been playing games with me...watching me...trying to learn what makes me tick...insisting that you’re just perfect for me...You’ve done nothing to prove your words. If you want me to change the very nature I was born to just to follow your design, then you’re going to have to work a lot harder than that to break me. You will fail...You will break your fingers trying to bend my knee. You will twist your ankles trying to hold me beneath your boot…”

Every sentence fueled the intensity of her energy so much so that her emotion seemed to crackle like embers beneath her eyelids. The girl possessed no weapons though she walked as if he were merely a snake writhing on his back and she were the bird of prey that would gorge herself on his demise.

“Let’s prove once and for all the existence of fate.”

Thunder began to rumble more intensely above the two. Rifles were now drawn at the back of the girl as she too became more intense. The guards had the only exit covered; there was no way this girl was leaving the situation without confronting young Raphael. He listened to her intently as the young man was a little disappointed at his lack of conversion. It was clear now he would have to get his hands dirty for this one. Yet he relished the opportunity for a challenge, he truly wanted to see what she was all about. His silver eyes wanted to be a first hand witness to such raw potential that he had only seen before in himself and a few others.

A thunderous voice came over the rumble in the sky, “I do not wish for you to bend the knee girl! My plans for you are far greater!”

Raphael began pacing over his limited space, “We will stand as equals! Our immense power ruling over the weaker individuals, like the ones in this prison!”

His boots began to move around behind her towards the guards, “You will never bend the knee, not for anyone! You will strike fear into the hearts of many that will bend the knee to you!”

His voice grew louder and louder, “We will hunt throughout the galaxy till we find the pathetic individual that uprooted you! We will put him in his place for what he did to your family!”

Raphael met one of the guards at the entrance of the landing pad. He took off his cloak revealing even more of his plated bone armor, graced with the scales of a reel and two vibroblades lined vertically along his back. An exchange was made with the guard, his cloak for another vibroblade.

As he began to move back towards his original position, he twirled the blade around playfully in his hand. He moved closer to the girl so he could maintain direct eye contact.

“But if you require more breaking to reach that point… So be it. I will break every bone in your body if it means you will realize your potential girl!”

Backing up a few steps his voiced rose a bit, “But believe me girl…. Fate will prevail.”

Offering up a choice peaked the interest of the young Sith. On one hand, he would love a strong challenge. It was an interesting turn of events that someone would not immediately bend to his will. Yet, he wanted her to give him everything he had, to be broken down till there was nothing left. On the other hand, it would save more time and effort if she just would comply.

Kressara listened to his words, though she took none of them to heart. Her rage and fury boiled the blood in her veins and blocked out all reason, that was until he mentioned hunting down the man who killed her family. The intensity of her malicious glaring had shifted to something far less sinister, a tinge of longing perhaps? Whatever it was the emotion faded back into anger all too quickly as the girl reminded herself that this man before her was no different than the one who murdered her parents, at least in her eyes he bore no differences. What sort of apprentice would such a girl make? So true to her emotions, fast to react, and determined in what she believed. She was fearful yet all the more brave for it and dauntless against an enemy who clearly had the advantage.

“Stop trying to lull me into submission with more meaningless words! You threw me in this prison and played with my head! Your words mean nothing to me!!!”

She continued to prowl around him until the two had all but swapped places on the battlefield, her keen eyes observing his interactions with the guards. The appearance of a weapon in his hand insighted more fear, which in turn became courage that was quickly tainted by her vexation. His playful twirling of the blade had the girl’s legs twitching beneath her as if preparing to leap at any given moment, all of the tension from her emotions and tightened muscles turned the girl into a spring loaded fighter just waiting to unleash all of that frustration. This would be an interesting fight at least, whether short or long winded.

“You talk too much about your ambitions for someone who claims to be worth so much...If all you say is true then I’ll gladly follow you….but it isn’t true. You’re not guided by destiny, you’re guided by your own opinion of yourself! Prove it. Prove every last word you’ve ever said to me. Make me a believer and I’ll follow you like little lost dog for the rest of my days.”

The sarcasm was soaked into every word she spoke, convinced she called his bluff. If he was really all that strong by himself then why did he take her to a prison where he’d be well protected by his guards? Why would he spend hours wearing her down to practically nothing before he met her challenge? He was nothing in her mind, and she’d treat him as such until he proved what an heir to power he really was.

“I’ll even kiss your boots, you snobbish liar…”

Kressara readied herself, standing in one place now with her full attention on ‘Fate’. She would be ready for whatever the man might throw at her.

Raphael paced back and forth as she continued to berate the young Sith with her wishful thinking. She stood tall and tense around him as if she was waiting for an attack at any moment. The silver-eyed man had her on her toes at all times on this landing pad; she was truly starting to break down. It was time for her to finally come with him, but it seemed they would have to do it the hard way.

A light drizzle set about the landing pad, saturating the armor of the pair again. They stood staring at each other, anticipating each other’s first moves. His hand continued to twirl around the blade in front of the hopeful, toying with her anticipation as well. His mind went through multiple scenarios on what would go down within the next few moments.

Bringing up the blade he pointed it directly at her, “Fine then, enough talk girl.”

Hoping to make her shake a bit, Raphael suddenly tossed her the vibroblade in his hand. He waited for her to pick it up before stating, “If it is a show of strength and power you want… So be it.”

Raphael reached behind his back to retrieve the two vibroblades holstered on his back. His stance moved into a standard form, left hand and foot forward in a defensive position with the blade there to parry away attacks. Right hand and foot cocked back ready for an attack at any moment with the blade ready to launch a slash or two.

The two began to dance around each other, emotions heightened at this point. He was tired of how long the swaying of her will was taking. It was time for him to end this. She would stand by his side soon; he just had to beat her down one more time.

A final comment was made to her, “You will soon beg for your life farm girl.”

Raphael soon launched into an all out attack on her. Taking a swing with the left blade at her chest and one at her leg with a swipe from the right blade. He soon jumped back into a defensive position hoping to upset her in any way. Raphael wanted to bring out all of her anger buried deep down inside of her.
