Strike First, Strike Hard (Kita/Warv)

He nodded in approval “Good, lets begin” he walked towards the obstacle course “You will start with this, you have done well enough to attempt to scale level two” This would warm her up if she did not already warm up she would definitely be warmed up after the obstacle course. “You will notice some of the obstacles are steeper on an incline or a larger drop, there are a few surprises as well” He had designed it himself when he had this Oasis built. This course only had 3 levels of difficulty, but what he did not tell her was he had more than one. The most intensive would be the one that the Dawn Patrol used to train on , However she was not ready for that, not yet.

“After the course, we will go through our Teras Kasi drills” He had two new things he would introduce into her regiment. “And then we will try a couple of new things, you have shown that you can handle it now that you are looking healthier and stronger. You have done well in the last two weeks” he had given the rare compliment there. “I thought we would start with some weapons training and sparring today” he then added “Though not in that order”

A couple of minutes passed as he believed Kita to be studying her next mountain maybe not but whatever she was thinking his voice cut through the reverie “Well you better get to it”

She stared at the course quietly calculating the depth of the inclines. She already knew what she needed to do in order to meet those...it was the "surprises" he mentioned that caught her attention. She didn't know what to expect. She gave him a look. "Of course there is." She replied sarcastically.

“After the course, we will go through our Teras Kasi drills. And then we will try a couple of new things, you have shown that you can handle it now that you are looking healthier and stronger. You have done well in the last two weeks. I thought we would start with some weapons training and sparring today. Though not in that order”

It had been a long time since she had a good spar. The last time had been with Jacobi on Zoist. And she had been able to beat him in the spar, though barely. "Sounds good. I look forward to that more then you know." She said not caring to hide the amusement in her voice.

"Well you better get to it."

Smiling to herself, Kita ran for the course, similar to the last she approached a line of hurdles hopping over them with ease before reaching the tire trail. She hopped through quickly and finally made it to the monkey bars. This time without lagging, she easily swung herself from one bar to the next. Her arms had indeed gained strength. The tireless effort of crossing the bars showed from the calluses that build on the palm of her hands. They burned, sore as she made her way to the end of the line jumping and landing on the balls of her feet flawlessly. "Gotcha." She said to herself before making a run for it to the next obstacle.

She stopped, briefly as she stared up at a wall. A rope hung down over the top, but the wall...appeared to be tilting a bit in her direction. The gravity of climbing at such a angle was gonna be much more difficult then just straight up. Still, she took a breath to brace herself and grabbed the rope in her palms, right foot planted on the wall as she started climbing her way up to the top. It wasn't the climb itself that was hard, it was the fact she had to make the top and hop over that made her pause. "How do i get over that?"

She stood a moment thinking about it and decided to take a leap of faith. Lowering herself a bit, she held the rope tightly, pulling herself quickly as she started running upwards. Her plan was to make enough height in her jump that she could turn and grab the walls edge. It worked...But just barely. She dangled struggling to keep herself holding on. The wall itself had managed to scrape some skin off from the palm of her hands as she grabbed the edge. It stung as she grunted pulling herself over the top and landing on the other side. She caught her breath, not bothering to look at the damage before moving on.

Finally she made it to what seemed like a balance beam over a pit of what seemed like foul smelling muck. "This looks like the muck on Nal Hutta..." She said to herself reminicing on one of her travels with Jacobi a year ago. Better then the wall, she held her hands out and walked across it, wobbling as she slowly went. Reaching the end, she started to feel herself close to tipping over in the mud. Wanting to avoid the muck, she leaped rolling on the grass.

Kita laid there on the ground staring up at the ceiling of the training room. "I MADE IT!!" She yelled happily as she raised her arms in success before letting em flop on the ground beside her.

He watched her as she navigated level two of the dreaded obstacle course, she had hit a snag or two but overall she negotiated it better than her first attempt at level one. Still she would be running this one again, but not now he did not want to tire her out before they got to the core of todays agenda. He walked over and stood over her, he nodded approvingly.

“Kinta didn’t make it in fact it took her three tries” He said as he reached his hand out to help her up. “Your not going to learn what I have to teach if you are lounging on the grass” While earlier he gave her a rare compliment, here he gave an even more rare sarcastic albeit funny remark.

He lead her to one of the oversized gazebos were, inside stood a sparring droid at one end the other end was a mannequin.

“I understand you bested a mandalorian in a sparring match” he began, “Here I have set the difficulty level to level 3, as a starting off point” The Droid was programmed ready to go all Warvanus had to do was give the command. Before she could protest he gave it “Begin” he instructed as he stepped back. The Droid came at her. The droid was a modified C-3P0 model droid. It had targets all over its body, designed to act as a simulation in a fight. This droid was also more limber and flexible so it could execute the techniques needed.

The Droid threw a series of forward punches aimed right at Kita.

She was surprised Warvanus apprentice hadn't passed the second course right away. It was hard yes, but Kita didn't think it was that hard. If anything the wall was the trickiest part of the obstacle course. “Your not going to learn what I have to teach if you are lounging on the grass” The smile quickly left her face as he held a hand out to her jokingly. She locked eyes with him as she reached up and grabbed his hand...then without looking away Kita pulled him forward to lose his balance. Quickly she turned and spun her leg underneath his ankle attempting to cause him to fall on the ground. Whether he fell or not it allowed her time to roll a bit away from his reach and stood with her hands on her hips staring at him. "You sure about that?" A smirk quickly appeared across her face. Jacobi had taught her not to look where she planned to hit least her opponent read her next move. Without looking she had already precalculated her move and thus proceeded with the plan.

“I understand you bested a mandalorian in a sparring match. Here I have set the difficulty level to level 3, as a starting off point” She couldn't deny that. She had beaten Jacobi in a sparring match. Before being able to say anything in protest about starting out so high in a level, she soon found him giving the command. Quickly turning the droid came at her with no warning. "That's unfair!" She retorted angrily at Warvanus as the droid already threw a punch on her. "OW!" She was found shocked by a small pulse of electricity as the droid managed to hit her before receiving a couple more blows of hot pulses to her skin. Kita realized the droid was fast...But still not as fast as her.

The next punch came at her quick, but she had already eyed the next move before ducking and parrying the next swing with her arm to the side. "No sword...no staff...I'll use my arms then." She thought as she ducked low and rushed forward hitting the droid on the target on its stomach forcefully. The droid stopped for a few seconds, stunned at the hit it received. "Ah...I see. Taking advantage of that knowledge, she hit it on the stomach again before throwing a uppercut. This gave her a chance to move behind the droid and kick it on the target on its back sending it forward onto the ground. A droid was still no match for Kita. Training with both Jacobi and Warvanus was showing results.

She looked over at him breathing heavily, narrowing her blue eyes at him. "That was a unfair fight. I might have won, but you didn't give me time to prepare." She said unhappily.

Her attempt to bring him down was futile, he was Master of both the Dark Side and Teras Kasi, balance was important in the later, control in the former. Trying to kick or trip him would have been like kicking a steel beam. Though he did extend his hand to her so there was a little leverage but not enough, all she had done was shown the War-Bringer that she was not of a serious mind. Which only justified the sudden attack with the droid, afterwards he frowned at her.

“You will find there is no such thing as a fair fight. What are you going to do when Bounty Hunters, or worse yet Jedi are upon you? Are you going to tell them to wait so you can be ready? You would be an easy target if that is the case. You need to ALWAYS” he emphasized Always “Be ready. You need to take this seriously as these skills will help keep you alive. Especially when the Force is not with you.” He paused and thought for a moment. “Maybe I am not giving you the right incentive”

He withdrew a comm device and talked into it “Bring the Ysalmari here” he said into it.

Soon after the beast master came in and with him was a single Ysalmari, they were lizard like but not large much like an Iguana. The one thing that made them very dangerous was the anti-force bubble they projected so anyone within its radius would be blind to the Force. He felt the Force veiled now, to a force user they would be weak not capable, not Warvanus or any who studied under him. “Now we are going to do this again”

“Droid Reset Level 3, Safety Protocols relaxed” Which meant now if Kita got hit she would get a stronger shock. He stepped back not that she was using the Force but now the Force would not be subtle in its nudges and precognition.

“Now you have incentive” he said

“Begin” he barked

The Droid came at her as it did before but with a different opening attack. It unleash a mid level front kick, a low side kick, and then a roundhouse kick aimed at her head.

“You will find there is no such thing as a fair fight. What are you going to do when Bounty Hunters, or worse yet Jedi are upon you? Are you going to tell them to wait so you can be ready? You would be an easy target if that is the case. You need to ALWAYS Be ready. You need to take this seriously as these skills will help keep you alive. Especially when the Force is not with you.”

Kita crossed her arms and pouted as her eyes narrowed at Warvanus. She HATED admitting he was right, instead she kept quiet and just listened. She had been raised in a place where war was nonexistent for most. She found her battling training fun. So she was in fact not taking battle as seriously as she should have. First by Tormentous, now by Warvanus. Surely this time Kita would learn to not take her training so lightly. Even though she put her all into her fights, she needed to treat each training session like her life depended on it in order to grow...But she was stubborn and needed to learn the hard way. This next lesson would make her change her whole perspective on the matter.

“Maybe I am not giving you the right incentive”

She watched with a eyebrow raised questionably as he pulled out his comm. "Right incentive?"

Turning her gaze at the door at the sound of the beast master coming into the door, she glanced at what appeared to be a lizard of sorts. She felt...off as the lizard was brought into the battle area of the Gazebo. But Kita hadn't known it blocked off her use of the force. Meaning she couldn't sense things as quickly as if she did with it.

“Now we are going to do this again”

She turned away quickly looking at warv. "What?"

“Droid Reset Level 3, Safety Protocols relaxed. Now you have incentive. Begin”

Kita unfolded her arms and turned just as the droid came at her again. Expecting punches like last time, she already had her arms up in anticipation for blocking the droid moves...But soon came to meet a foot into her stomach. Not having the force veiling some of her pain upon impact only made the shock she received from the droid more painful then she expected. To the point it actually made her immobile unable to dodge any of the droid next attacks. She was already bent over clutching her stomach right as she received another blow to the side of her hip.

Lifting her arm shaking, she barely managed to block the droids kick aimed at her head as she fell back onto the ground. The electrical current instead traveling through her arm as she took the hit. There wasn't much of a chance to fight further at this point. Kita wasn't used to the intensity of the pain brought on without the force on her side. And she still didn't know it was blocked off from her. "That...REALLY...hurt..." she groaned.

He watched with disappointment as the droid had beaten her which confirmed that she relied on the Force to a certain extent. He stood over her as she was groaning but his gaze was on the droid.

“Droid Reset protocols, stand down” and like that the droid went inactive.

He then turned to look at his fallen student. “That lizard is a Ysalmari, not a ferocious creature but a very dangerous one, in the aspect that it can project a anti-force bubble which when within its radius will blind us to the Force. Going forward they will be at least one in the Oasis during training sessions, this will help you learn to rely on your physical senses, like being able to anticipate. You will be in situations, places where the Force will be deaf to you, it will be in these circumstances that these skills will matter most.” He did not offer to help her up this time. But they were not done yet as he walked out of the gazebo heading to another one. It was not said to follow but he expected her to follow him nonetheless.

“This next set will help you in your Force training” when she caught up to him.

The Gazebo was much like the first one only this one had a rack of weapons, staffs, swords, knives all sorts of melee weapons. The Droid had a pair of training swords in its hands. The blades were blunt with stinger prods at the end of the blades, meant to stung.

“Choose” he gestured towards the rack, “In the days of Darth Bane training weapons were poison tipped, so if struck it would render your limb numb and therefore useless until it wore off. Here it will just sting if struck".

He waited for her to choose her weapon and when he did he spoke “Droid Level 1, Saftey Protocols strick”

He took a few steps to the edge “Begin”

"...Well..." She groaned as she slowly picked herself up off the ground. "If this is what it's like not having the force...And the pain is this bad without it, I now realize just how hard Tormentous must of had it without the force on his side." Of course Kita still didn't know how much her master had been through. She could only imagine half of the things that could have happened to him with or without the force.

Still recuperating over that session, she slowly trailed behind Warvanus to another Gazebo.

“This next set will help you in your Force training. Choose. In the days of Darth Bane training weapons were poison tipped, so if struck it would render your limb numb and therefore useless until it wore off. Here it will just sting if struck"

Walking over to the rack, it only took a matter of seconds for Kita to grab hold of a staff in her hands. "Hello!" She said happily as she tested it's weight and balance in her hand as she spun it once. "Not bad." Noticing Warvanus walking to the edge of the Gazebo, Kita quickly walked to the center of the ring facing the battle droid.

"Begin."

Anticipation was harder for her without the force as the droid approached, already swinging both swords at her. Kita tried staying on top avoiding the blades as much as possible...but of course this battle wouldn't leave her unscathed. She needed to grow accustomed to not using the force as a crutch to lean on. Now she needed to really apply what jacobi taught her a year ago.

She blocked the swords attack with her staff the first time while struggling, arms shaking to keep them from coming down on her. "Agh!" She pushed forward with her weight managing to push back the droids blade off of her staff in attempt to make a opening strike for herself on the droid. However she didn't catch on quick enough with the opening as the droid swung one of the swords at a vertical strike. Expecting the blow to meet her, she braced herself and took the hit painfully. Catching movement of the other sword coming down at her side...Kita soon realized she was in close range.

"Inner ring..." She observed quickly.
There was no smile on her face. As she turned her staff vertically and parried the blade away giving her a chance to lunge at the droids target on its stomach stunning it briefly so she could immediately roll away to the Outer ring distance. Standing, she swung her staff in one swift motion downwards causing the droid to stumble slightly at the force taken as she briefly locked it's blades in place on the ground before pulling off and automatically blocking a couple more attacks.

Warvanus watched the spar, he noticed that she seemed more confident with the staff. He would make a mental note to have the spar droid equipped with a staff for their next spar. She had a warrior’s heart he could tell by the way she fought, but despite this she had a long way to go. He would help her every step of the way.

“You seem at home in the fight” he said it was not a question but an observation “you have the heart of a warrior” he paused then added “I can tell because these are things that are within me, though for you I suspect it will be harder because you have already begun training in the Force. Whereas when I learned most of these skills I had never heard of the Force” he said as the memory of Tatooine surfaced.

“Anticipation is one of the hardest skills to develop, when an opponent is about to punch their shoulder moves before their arm, sometimes an opponent leads with the shoulder which makes them open for an attack, when an opponent is about to throw a kick often will shift their weight to the stationary foot. In time you will learn to see these things and when you do this will become a little easier”

“Come, walk with me, we are done here for today I wish to show you something, from one warrior to another” With that he waited till she followed not behind but beside. She was not his servant or his slave, she was his student. With that he made for the exit of the Oasis

“You seem at home in the fight. You have the heart of a warrior. I can tell because these are things that are within me, though for you I suspect it will be harder because you have already begun training in the Force. Whereas when I learned most of these skills I had never heard of the Force”

She listened as Kita finished off a few more hits at the droid before it was deactivated. Panting as she rubbed her side where she got hit again, she turned towards Warvanus as she lowered the staff. "First time im hearing this I believe. If so, I'm surprised. Especially since I never fought before leaving Tibrin." She replied seriously. "My parents were not ones set on violence and as far as I know i dont know of any warrior like relatives in my family." She added. Unknown to her however Kress was a distance cousin of hers.

"You sound like Lord Tormentous in that respect. He said something similar back on Zoist during our spar." She replied.

“Come, walk with me, we are done here for today I wish to show you something, from one warrior to another."

Kita couldn't believe he actually asked for her to walk with him. It was one thing to follow behind someone these days. It just became a habit in the past year after constantly being shoved and asked to follow behind guards and such. But she never really walked next to anyone anymore. Without a word she carefully put the staff away and fell in step next to Warvanus. "Show me what?" She asked curiously.
