***Naboo System, Naboo - O-17***
The Corellian YT 2000 Light Freighter Talon broke out of hyperspace to the view of a true gem set amidst a sea of glittering stars. Vibrant colors were radiant over every breathtaking glimpse of the world known as Naboo. The seas of sapphire blue were resplendent against the verdant trees and forests that stretched across vast swathes of land only to be etched by the surrounding plains of lighter greens with their rolling hills of miles upon miles of terrain. Even the swampy regions with their browns and grays seemed to only accentuate the beauty of this world even further.
“Welcome to Naboo,” Ben announced with a smile to Viso Gelgan who was sitting in the copilot’s chair, “Capital of the Galactic Alliance and home to our free democracy.” He pointed off into the distance, away from the world itself and into the shadow of the planet that was cast from the sun. There in the depths of the gloom was another orbital body, this one far smaller than Naboo itself. “Veruna,” he informed, “location of the Galactic Alliance’s foremost Military Base. It is a joint command of Army, Navy and Special Forces. Very impressive.” They flew forward for a few moments and as they continued their course there came a glittering sparkle from the moon Veruna; the starships of the Galactic Alliance Navy were starting to come into view. Foremost of their number was a massive vessel that defied reasonable scale and none that surrounded it could even hope to match its magnificent splendor. Obvious to point it out among the rest, Ben gave the name of the ship. “That’s the Independence, flagship of the Alliance Navy. She’s a Marquis-class Star Defender, the biggest of her class.”
Indeed, the Independence drew itself to an impressive 17,000 meters (17 km) in length and her organically unique build, courtesy of the Mon Calamarian Shipyards, made her a work of art against the typical mindset of ship building which was angular and sharp. All around the mighty starship were other Mon Calamarian Star Cruisers and even other modern ships such as the Nebula-class Star Cruisers.
The heads up display (HUD) on the Talon lit up, an incoming transmission being hailed from Veruna Flight Control. It was nothing more than a request of credentials of which Ben supported and they were subsequently accepted with the flight controller offering up a ‘welcome to Naboo,’ before the communication was terminated. “Well,” Ben began, “looks like we’re all set to make for the surface my friend.”
Taking up the controls the weathered Jedi Master eased the Talon onto a pre-designated flight path and within moments of acceleration and more spectacular sights, the looming orb of Naboo filled the viewport to entirety. Easing the flight path to that they would not burn up on entry, the Talon coasted down into the blue hue of the surrounding skies and soon enough they’d penetrated the clouds with some slight turbulence though nothing too severe, if anything it was the feeling of rapid descent and deceleration.
Their flight came down beneath the clouds and now they were given the full view of Naboo’s brilliance. Theed itself, capital of the planet, lay to their right and Viso was given the proud view of the Palatial Security Hangar that sat over the cliff edge alongside a tall waterfall. Theed itself was not their destination however, and so the Talon continued its flight for another ten or so minutes until their true destination finally came into view; set within the foothills of Theed’s outskirts lay a humble and simply assorted set of buildings encircling a small tower that only stretched upwards by three levels. A wall surrounded the perimeter and there was a large gatehouse to the fore of the facility. “Viso, this is the Jedi Enclave of Naboo. If you do not mind, I would like to stop off here for a few moments. We’ll take in supplies, refuel the ship, and obtain a few of the replacement parts you pointed out to me for the Talon.” He paused as he maneuvered the ship towards the encircled buildings, though the landing pad was outside the walls, which was where the ship would find its resting place.
Kicking in the landing sequence, the YT’s foot pads descended and locked into position while the underside repulsorlift coils spooled up to arrest the descent of the ship against the gravity of the world once the engines were no longer capable of supporting the ship themselves. Gently touching down on the pad, Ben quickly went through the power down protocols but did not finish them totally, he stood up and referred to the Dug. “R5 will handle the rest. If you’d come with me then I would appreciate it.” He started off through the ship, donning his old weathered cloak and taking up his walking staff once more.
“While we are here at the Enclave,” he stopped at the exit ramp and turned to Viso as it descended to the ground, “with your permission, I would like to you meet the Jedi Council. I am curious to have you stand before them Viso, since I’ve met you I have had a good feeling about you that I would like to follow up on.” He held up a hand, “No poking or prodding, just a few questions is all it will be.”
