A Thief in the City

Post by Mora Norith » Sat Apr 07, 2018 6:51 pm

"Stop, thief!" The merchant runs after a girl through the streets of Jedha City.
Mora Norith weaves through people, jumping over and ducking under obstacles. Looking over her shoulder, she sees the young merchant still on her tail bumping into people and tripping over things she jumped over. Looking forward once again, Mora sees a stack of boxes leading up to an overhang. She picks up her speed and bounds up the boxes and leap upwards, grabbing the overhang, pulling herself over the edge, and continue to travel across the roofs. Mora takes a deep breath and looks back to make sure the merchant did decide to risk the climb. Seeing no one else on the roofs Mora smiles and pushes her red hair out of her intense green eyes.
"Fresh meat is always easy to steal from." Mora says aloud and moves across the roofs.
After an hour of jumping across gaps and running across roofs, Mora stops at a makeshift house. Poles hold up sheets of metal to protect against rain. Underneath plastic boxes hold food and scraps picked up through Mora's life in the streets. Mora walks under the metal and sit on the 'bed'. She takes out pieces of bread and canned food from the pockets of her fleece lined leather jacket and adds it to her stash.
"I'll be able to get a few more raids out of Mr. Newbie before he catches up." Mora mutters as she rummages around.
Mora does have her regular merchants, usually older ones who aren't as alert as the others, but a few do give old food willingly. Whenever a new merchant sets up shop, Mora always takes advantage of their naiveness and steals as much as she can.
With a sigh, Mora stretches and moves to the edge of the building where she lies down on the edge to watch the lives of the people.

The sun beating down on the desert moon of NaJedha was harsh, but made what shadows that did exist, drip deeper. Glowing yellow eyes staring out at the hustle and bustle of the denizens of this forsaken Imperial world. She had come here to recover after her mission into Sith space, her injuries were nominal, but she needed a place that was harsh and unforgiving, some place that she could turn her mind toward what she had endured mentally. She had ventured to a green, lush planet first, teeming with dark energies in the air... then here. This place fared little better, but she was home now, as home as it was for her, at least.

"Stop! Thief!"

She breathed in the warm air, turning her gaze toward the young woman dashing through the streets full bore. And a smile graced her grayish black lips. She darted from the building, and up the wall as though she was some arachnid creature, where she then darted across the rooftops, then hopped down, finally into the sunlight. Her skin was an ashy grey, long nails curling from her fingertips, where she had sharpened them into claws. Her ivory armor was fitted perfectly to her slender, curving body, long raven hair cascading down her face and back.

She listened to her surroundings, sniffing the air, head turned toward a building, drawing a sinister grin to her face. She crouched low, then tapped her com.

"Authorization 715 Alpha, I have reports of a thief on my location, apprehend the girl, I wish to have a word with her," she purred into the comlink. There was a collective shiver on the other side. Her code gave her high clearance, and let anyone seeing her authorization info know she also didn't exist. She was a shadow, known only as Silence.

Mora studies the many people below her lazily.

"What a crowd." She murmurs. Everyone keeps their heads down and hurries to their destination, ignoring everyone around them.

Oddly, Mora notices three men wearing helmets walking slowly and looking around, acting completely opposite from everyone else. Mora watches them check the buildings, obviously looking for someone.

Suddenly, one of the men looks up and sees Mora laying on the roof.

"Oh no." Mora quickly picks herself up as three man calls to his friends.

Knowing they'll have trouble getting up to the roof, but they will get up eventually, Mora grabs as much food as she can push into her pockets and even more in a satchel. The food is joined by scrap parts that Mora sometimes trades with her merchant acquaintances. Looking up Mora sees the first man poke his head up from the edge.
"Hello there. I'm afraid you'll need to come with us someone, ah, wants a word with you. As do I, for that matter." he says.

"Authorization 715 Alpha, I have reports of a thief on my location, apprehend the girl, I wish to have a word with her," the voice came over the comm. Rhoden sighed and immediately jumped off his perch on the roof, following the girl silently. Desade taking an interest in someone was likely to result in blood and so he resolved to be present at their 'meeting'.

Rhoden tailed the girl back to her home, if it could be called that. He glanced across to the other side of the building the girl seemed to live on top of and saw the helmeted head of Jorvan, and his own helmet display confirmed the rest of the squad surrounded the building should she attempt to flee.

Rhoden pulled himself up onto the roof, followed by Jorvan. "Hello there." he said. "I'm afraid you'll need to come with us someone, ah, wants a word with you. As do I, for that matter." he said. He'd not raised his blaster to aim at the girl, but Jorvan held his weapon ready his ever-present vigilance--though Rhoden thought it paranoia at times--not permitting him to relax around potential threats.

Mora stands frozen under her shelter, facing the two helmeted men. She only had an encounter with officials once and that was at the orphanage where she grew up. It was not a fond memory. Knowing that if she got caught that would be the end of her freedom, Mora began to back up. She saw the second man tighten his grip on his blaster. Mora kicked on of the poles holding up the fort and ran to the edge and jumped.

Rhoden and Jorvan ran to the edge of the building, the girl has jumped into Haly's line of sight, she rose up, Pyrs rose from his own position further to her right. The four Inferno Squad members raised their blasters and four stun bolts flashed out. Rhoden heard the sounds of the other squad members coming from behind him on the roof.

Rhoden sighed, "Why do they have to run?" he asked, "Grow up hearing Alliance propaganda, probably had a few brushes with some heavy-handed local enforcement in this case." Jorvan said. Rhoden shook his head and jumped down running towards the position where the girl was, he hadn't seen whether she'd ducked or been hit but it made little difference she was outnumbered and surrounded.

"I doubt this is going to help her opinion of Imperial law enforcement." he said, "And Desade is?" Jorvan asked pointedly. Rhoden grimaced, "Fair enough, you win. C'mon."

Mora landed and rolled. She was just about to take off when the sound of blasters filled the road. Mora let out a scream as electric currents swept throughout her body, paralyzing her and making everything hurt.

'Dang it.' She thought as her body thudded on the ground, frequently twitching with electricity.

The man from the roof walked into Mora's view and knelt down. She felt something stab into her neck and instantly began to feel drowsy. As the world faded Mora dreads how prison life will treat her.

Rhoden and Jorvan dragged the girl into a small office. Rhoden had taken over the dusty room when he had arrived on the planet. He'd been inspecting several worlds for possible projects--Imperial and otherwise--as of late. He'd sent a simple communique to Desade informing her that the girl had been captured and to meet him in his office.

Rhoden nodded to Jorvan who injected a stimulant into their guest, as she stirred Rhoden sat on his desk. "Welcome to my dusty domain." he said with a small smile. "Now I don't know why my... associate... wants you, but I think you could be of use to the Empire." he said. "You could use a home, a family, the Empire can give you that--and the Empire can obviously use some good people."

Mora awoke in a small room with a wood desk. Leaning on said desk was the man who injected something into her system to knock her out. The other man was in the corner, still holding onto his blaster.

"Welcome to my dusty domain." he said with a small smile. "Now I don't know why my... associate... wants you, but I think you could be of use to the Empire." he said. "You could use a home, a family, the Empire can give you that--and the Empire can obviously use some good people."

Mora glared at the man.

"I don't need a family or a home, they just tie me down; not to mention the Empire soldiers..." lost in a memory, Mora faded out and lifted her hand to rub her left bicep.
